This place is horrible. First off they don’t take appointments. Nor does anyone know if a particular stylist will be working or not that day. Then you walk into the place and it smells like smoke, you might be waiting for hour and an a half to get a haircut. Keep in mind that I was next and 90 minutes later I’m getting my turn. Another 90 minutes later I end up leaving with a nice haircut. However, I will be not returning to this place because I don’t know how long I am going to have to wait or who I am going to get when I get a haircut. On top of that I might have to spend half of my day there for 20 – 25 minute job. I saw the owner come in one time and I knew immediately that this guy is on something illegal. This place has no order, rhyme or reason. Looking at who the owner was NOW I am confident that this place will never change.

Awful atmoshpere, smelled like pot, music way too loud, wait was longer than an hour, only one barber was there. Extraordinarily unprofessional. The place smelled strongly of pot, which might be okay for some, but I can’t sit in a place for an hour with that smell(I needed a haircut and couldn’t just go somewhere else on a Sunday). Barber’s friends came in and talked about, I’m being dead serious, who they banged last night and how they ascribed to the pull out method of contraception. Some 50 year old guy talking about how he was going to go across the street and hit up some college girls. Did I mention how they looked out the window every time a girl passed by and cat-called? Creepy and disgusting, seriously. I’ve never been so uncomfortable in my life waiting to get a haircut. And the price isnt even good, 20 bucks for a haircut, seriously? Also the floor was pretty dirty, looked like it hadnt been sweeped all day, at least not well. Bottom Line: This place is unprofessional, loud, smells like pot, and just generally uncomfortable to be in, get a haircut ANYWHEREELSE! STAYFARAWAY. The only reason this review isnt 1 star is because I wrote this while I waited forever. My haircut was okay and the barber was like any other, if it werent for the atmosphere and price this would be a solid 3⁄5.

I’ve been going here since February 2014 when I moved to New Brunswick from Harlem. Been getting great cuts from Malcolm since then but won’t be going back any more since I found out Malcolm has moved on. He was the only barber that stuck around and gave the place a semblance of professionalism. I moved to Somerset but didn’t mind the short drive and don’t mind the longer drive to Scotch Plains to follow Malcolm at his new spot. He really listens and takes his time and it always feels like I’m getting a bargain for a perfect cut for $ 20. Their loss is definitely The Bearded Barber Barbershop’s gain.

They take forever to cut hair. Don’t plan to go unless you have ¾ hours out of your day. Also over priced

I was definitely rooting for this place until a while back I took my brother. I already had a great experience so I didn’t hesitate to take him. While he was getting his haircut I decided I’ll get my side cut as well… hmmm that was when it got weird. I paid the same amount for not even a quarter of my hair cut as my brother and two other men paid for their entire haircut! I didn’t say anything because I don’t like conflict but it stuck with me. I even tipped just to be nice but it still just seemed messed up. Will I be returning… no. Nor will the 11 people I referred.

decent haircut… TERRIBLE service. It takes them 45 minutes to do one haircut, where as a proper barber should take no more than 20 minutes per head.

Nice view of the outside, they play music and have a big TV. It’s in a convenient spot which is why I popped in but they charge too much for my liking. The barbers went on and on about why they charge a higher price since apparently the previous customer was surprised(over $ 20) and mocked that if you want a cheaper cut, go to Supercuts. Well, when I was finished I left and I wasn’t too satisfied with my cut. $ 20 for a haircut? I can get that in Manhattan right after work. This isn’t Manhattan, lower your prices guys.

Barber«True» did my hair ok, a little shorter than I expected but he really messed up my beard. I just asked for him to trim my beard and I was left with a uneven *pencil mustache* — not at all what I wanted. Additionally he got irritated whenever I asked him any questions about what he was doing. The general tone of his replies was a condescending«I know what I’m doing — don’t worry about it»

Very well appointed shop. Six chairs. Seems to be trying for the college guys and Latins. Older white guys are not their usual walk-in trade. I had some time to wait for a train to NYC and gave them a try. I was very pleased. The young barber did a very careful — even meticulous job — spent almost a half hour for a buzz cut. To be honest the last haircut that I got in NYC was pretty bad, so this guy maybe had to work hard to correct the last guy’s mistakes. $ 15 plus a $ 5 tip. Well worth the money. I will go back. Opens early during the week — 7:00AM. Not sure of the Saturday hours.

great Dominican barber shop, old school full service treatment available with a razor blade to clean up the face(used dry, no shaving cream!). one of the most thorough cuts and facial shaves I ever had. for shave and haircut together it was $ 30, but definitely quality. friendly folks, nice atmosphere with a big tv, alternativ-ish pop tunes playing, and a big window out front through which one can admire the stream of beautiful Rutgers femininity walking by, a plethora of gorgeousness.
