Wow, what a great place! This small, homey restaurant serves up some seriously good Middle Eastern food. The falafels are so light and fluffy inside, most unlike the usual sense falafel found elsewhere. The hummus and baba are both rich and garlicky, and each come with a dollop of soft tangy feta. The prices are really good for the portion sizes. Only cons are that the tables are quite close together(so you will hear your neighbors’ conversations and they will hear yours) and there’s some serious garlic in some dishes! I love garlic a lot, but my breath was pretty strong for several hours! Maybe not a first date place…

1000 figs is easily my favorite restaurant in New Orleans! The food is super affordable and delicious! Every time I go I have to get the Brussels sprouts and the fries(Seriously don’t be scared about trying the Brussels sprouts because you didn’t like them as a child, they are amazing!). I also really like the falafel platter, which is easily enough food for 2 people. The falafel feast is also great if you go with a big group! Honestly I’ve never tried anything from here I didn’t like! Warning: this place is tiny! Just be prepared to wait for a table but it’s definitely worth it! And you can go get a glass of wine at Swirl Wine Bar while you wait!

It’s no shock most of my fellow elites rave about their experiences at this place, it’s all true. My companion and I dined on falafel, Brussel sprouts, fries and the smoked chicken sandwich. We shared everything and were quite full. The chicken sandwich on brioche was delicious. It’s one of the less exotic menu choices and I really enjoyed it. I’m not a fan of falafel usually, but my friend convinced me to try theirs and I was very happy with it and proceeded to eat more of it than she did! Brussels sprouts are one of my favorite parts of this meal. They were flavorful and not over cooked. Served with spring mix and red cabbage bed, which I also ate happily, soaked with whatever amazing sauce the sprouts were cooked in. The fries have to be the only fries that rival my beloved Kebab Belgian fries! They are thinner than the thick cut kebab fries but equally as savory with an aioli that I may actually prefer over kebab’s. It is actually hard for me to admit that! I look forward to trying more of the menu. The atmosphere is intimate and simple. There are two small tables I like to sit at on a nice day. Waitstaff is friendly and efficient and we received our food quickly. Great little spot for a lunch date!

The best falafel I have ever had! 1000 Figs is great. My wife and I go here pretty often. We usually get the Falafel Feast for 2, and always leave full and happy. There can be a long wait sometimes, but it is worth it.

1000 Figs is a quaint little place that serves up veg-heavy Mediterranean fare. The cozy interior holds about 25 and could pass for a living room, with potted plants, a small bar, and wooden furniture. Let’s start with what the place does well. The service is warm and welcoming. Our waitress gave great drink recommendations and the staff let us stay well past closing time, which was much appreciated. The atmosphere is pleasant, perfect for a date or an intimate outing with friends… details like personal drawers filled with silverware make for a memorable evening. But alas, I think my expectations were set too high from the get-go. The food didn’t impress me enough to justify a 45 minute wait on a Thursday at 9PM. We ordered the Falafel Feast, which came with about 10 deep-fried balls, and 3 – 5 small plates — this was plenty for four of us. The falafel was the only noteworthy dish in my opinion, with a thin, crispy exterior and an earthy, textured center. They were smaller than I’m used to though. The hummus and baba ghanouj were largely forgettable, which is never a good sign for a Middle Eastern or Mediterranean establishment. The best dip was the Beet, Pecan, and Yogurt which imbued the flat bread with a unique flavor. The Mushroom and Leek Confit was oily and bland, and the Brussels Sprouts were well-cooked but nothing special. The Halloumi was delicious, however, especially with the sweet jam to balance it out. Long story short, I thought the environment was excellent but the food was relatively mediocre.

1000 Figs has been on my radar for a long time. I finally got to hit it up today for lunch with a friend. I wasn’t disappointed! Atmosphere: A– Cute little place right off of Esplanade Avenue. You order at the counter, take a number, and they bring your food to you. There are a few tables inside, but not many. We ended up sitting outside. My only complaint was that there were two umbrellas, but that was only enough to fully cover one table. We were left sitting out in the hot sun. Service: A Very friendly counter person. Efficient service. Food: A++++ We ordered the falafel platter which came with falafel(duh), salad, spreads, etc. We added on some feta and brussels sprouts for a couple dollars more. We also had the burrata with an herbed salad and sourdough bread. Everything was absolutely delicious! It was the perfect amount for us to share. Value: A Prices were extremely reasonable. Falafel sandwiches are $ 6. We paid $ 14 for the falafel platter with additions, and $ 11 for the burrata with salad and bread. I was disappointed that that weren’t more reasonably priced wine options. $ 11 for a glass or rose at a counter service café is just too much.

Had the falafel feast, and added tabouli salad and extra baba ganoush. Very very good. Much better than the vast majority of Mediterranean restaurants. However, not as good as Shaya. Please see that review. My friend loved the place. Service was a bit slow.

Love the waitress/cashier/hostess! The food was great and atmosphere was awesome! It’s a tight squeeze here so be patient if you have a big group. This place is ideal for couples or singles!

Holy f*ck. The falafels are seriously the juiciest, most flavored piece of a*s I’ve ever eaten. That’s what brings you in, then the chicken salad sandwich blows your mind(loads). Is that smoked chicken in there? D*mn. That hum hum tho, so fresh, and so dream dream. Mix with a lil haloumi and kale, and shiii***t — you on a whole nother level. Come with 4 friends, split the big falafel platter, it’s perfect. They even have killer drinks now. This place is top tier, and top tear maker, for I cry it’s so good. I’d list it as a top 3 restaurant in all of New Orleans. Owners of 1000 Figs– Better buy cansecos, you’re gonna need more room after this review!

I had the best dinner here! Food was amazing & friendly wait staff. The only way I can describe this place is Greek food on steroids! Everything is so fresh & presentation is really nice! We had the falafel platter and we added the yogurt dip! I can’t wait to come back!

I love this place for a girlfriend date or a place to take your mom when she comes in town! My favorite dish(the falafel platter) has no meat — but I don’t even notice. Everything is so fresh and distinct in flavor — nothing is overbearing or too salty. The falafel themselves are delicious little balls of warm goodness. I like to add brussels, baba, and pickles to mine but that’s just me. And that’s also lots of food! But if you’re going to add one thing, add the brussels. They might be my favorite item on the platter. The smoked chicken salad sandwich is definitely worthy of a try as well. Lots of meat, not too mayonaisse-y, and the bread is delicious. As previously noted, the restaurant is very tiny. Tables are close together. Décor is very minimalistic(which I love). Maybe not the most intimate of atmospheres, but cute/fun nonetheless.

Man oh man. I don’t even know where to START with this review, son! So many flavors and so much good stuff. I will try to go my best to describe my experience. First things first– we stopped in here at around 7 on a Thursday night and there was a 30 minute wait. No worries– just duck next door into Swirl, have a glass of Pinot and they will text you when your table is ready. This place is small, y’all! There aren’t that many tables and it’s pretty cozy. I like it like that, but I know a lot of people might not. The menu is pretty extensive will all kinds of Mediterranean goodies to choose from. We started with the lamb hearts(don’t get nervous) and the Brussels sprouts. The lamb hearts were SOGOOD! Does it make me weird that this was one of my favorite parts of the meal? Those Brussels sprouts, though. What do they do to them?! They aren’t fried or grilled. I don’t know, but it’s some kind of magic– mine never taste like that. For our main course, it was pretty difficult, but we decided to go with the falafel platter and one of the specials of the day which was boar. Pretty wild stuff. The falafel platter was incredible and was plenty enough for two people. It came packed with hummus, slaw, house salad, flatbread, and a few other goodies. I took a picture; check it out. My favorite on this platter was definitely the hummus– it might not be the very best I have ever had, but it was creamy smooth with a lot of flavor. The boar was also tasty. I don’t think I have ever had it before and i found it a little gamey without being too overwhelming. My experience here was amazing and I would LOVE to return. The waitress was extremely attentive, even though it looked like she was in charge of almost every table and the food was memorable.

I read some rave reviews about the chicken salad and the brussel sprouts so I had this place on my must try list to eat exactly that. While it was perfectly fine, there is better. The chicken salad tasted of all mayo with a lack of smoked chicken and more of a «rotissery» chicken taste. It reminds me of something I’d make at home, which isn’t a bad thing but certainly doesn’t impress. The sprouts were again, just fine. Basic roasted brussel sprouts with a bit more oil than I’d like. There are some really great brussel sprouts out there(Luke and Butcher to name a couple), these are some I could pass on next time. The side salad was well, just greens with maybe a drizzle of oil. While this seems to be the standard for alot of places, this version was a bit too simple. A nice vinaigrette would have added alot of value. I ended up ditching the greens all together. The portion size of the sprouts was quite large. For a side, it could feed 3. You can’t change your side salad for an up charge so I had more than enough food. The sandwich was loaded with the perfect amount of chicken salad. I had enough for 2 meals. It comes on thick nicely griddled(sourdough?) bread. I’ll return to try some items I’m sure they’re better at, like the falafel. But if you’re in the mood for chicken salad or some brussel sprouts, this is a decent option.

What can I say– I’m simply obsessed… Tiny place with seating for about 20 and two small tables right out front too. Lovely atmosphere, laid back and has a very diverse and nice clientele. This is a place where Brussels sprouts are like candy, the falafel is tender and flavorful, and the food is fresh and fabulous. A surprise — French fries and toum — yes you want this… this incredible whipped garlicky toum will make you crazy! The plates are bountiful and well worth the price. In addition to the lovely veggies there is also lamb, and a smoked chicken salad. One small gripe — now that they have a liquor license there doesn’t seem to be the same camaraderie with swirl where customers could purchase a bottle and bring it in — the corkage fee is a bit steep and really unnecessary… In fact, it’s a bummer. Make it a dollar or two and call it a minute… It will go a long way toward the good vibe that has been established previously and really seems to fit better with the customers. Finally — the hibiscus iced tea is just perfect…

The brussel sprouts… omg the brussel sprouts!!! This was our last meal during our 5 day stay in NoLa, and I am so glad that we came here and ended the trip on a high note. A tiny but quaint spot, 1000 Figs provides fresh and delicious food that is healthy but comforting all at the same time. The service was extremely friendly and I felt the portions were very fair. Get the fresh lemonade. Just do it. The falafel platter was good, as were the pickles, but I think we could have just survived on plates upon plates of brussel sprouts and hummus. We could not stop eating those items, I think there was even a consideration of licking the plate until more patrons came in and sat down at which point we decided to: try: looking like normal people. Then again, this is New Orleans where anything goes!

Small, quaint and absolutely DELICIOUS!!! From the masterminds of the New Orleans food truck Fat Falafel this restaurant is doing it right by keeping it simple. My favorites, so far are the Brussels Sprouts, Lamb Hearts, Falefel Sandwich and the Buratta. They don’t have a liquor license yet but you can grab a bottle of wine from the shop next door. If you get there and it’s packed don’t worry they’ll bring it to the wine shop ;-)

THEBESTCHICKENSALADSANDWICHINTOWN I’ve tried chicken salad at practically every sandwich shop in New Orleans and none rivaled that found at the old Holmses cafeteria on Iberville… until now. HERE’S WHY: 1. The locally sourced smoked chicken is both chunky and shredded, resembling snowy white lump crab meat. I’ve never seen anything quite like it(zoom the pic). 2. The dressing is so light it’s imperceptible however its rosemary aioli flavor is deliciously inspired. 3. The fresh buttery semolina bread is toasted and not greasy. A perfect crunchy vessel worthy of this salad. BUTITCOSTSANOUTRAGEOUS $ 12BEFORETIP !!! Does the price piss me off? Yes Did I shame myself supporting the new bourgie subculture? Yes Will I be back? Oh hell yes. It’s a splurge worthy treat. BUT I HAVEN’T BEENBACK The price point always stands out and prevents my friends from choosing it over other more competitive restaurants nearby such as «Melba’s» or «Parkway».

im craving the sandwich i got here last night so that earns 5 stars as I never eat the same thing twice! Came here with my boyfriend on a Tuesday specifically because we tried to come on a Saturday and the wait was 2hrs+ So we came at 6:30 on a Tuesday and were seated right away but people arriving 30 mins later had a long wait on their hands. We ordered the Falafel plate for 2 and a Mozzarella Sandwich(don’t judge! We were hungry!) and both dishes were awesome. The falafel has the most unusual texture but super yummy. The whole plate is covered in salads and pickled veggies. Boyfriend thought there was too much salad for $ 28 but I liked it. I wasn’t a huge fan of their hummus but everything else was so good I overlooked it. But really the star was the Mozzarella sandwich. Not healthy in anyway but OMG so good! I had to run an hour to burn it off but that tomato jam and super fresh mozzarella was worth it. Can’t wait to order it again. Come on a weekday and get there early! Worth eating at old people hour for their food!

Even though I’m about 50 reviews behind right now lol, I had to stop and write a review on this place because that’s how much I enjoyed my lunch here. After trying to come numerous times during the holidays in which they were unfortunately closed for 2 weeks, I finally caught them on my off day. Walk inside and your immediately greeted by chill and laid back, yet friendly staff waiting to help you. Figs is on the small side but quaint and cozy indeed. The décor is simple and perfect for the space it occupies. I love how they have silverware in the drawers at the tables. Etta James pandora station playing in the background gives the place a nice serene vibe as well. With a limited yet delicious menu, your not overwhelmed by a thousand choices. I took a look at the lunch and dinner menu and there’s not a huge difference, just maybe two or three things different. Now on to the most important part lol. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich that comes with a side salad and my mother in law ordered the grilled cheese. Both were DELICIOUS. The bread had my mouth salivating. And the salad that came with it was light and perfect with just the right amount of dressing. I really appreciate how fresh everything is that they use. You can tell they make there food with tender loving care. I noticed on the counter that they support the local grow dat youth farm which is awesome. I had to give this place five stars which opinions may differ but in my personal opinion I really enjoyed everything about it. I think that Figs will have much success and I will definitely be back to support them, especially considering how close they are to my house.

You make me miss Mid-City more than ever now. This itty bitty restaurant that can seat about 20 guests is absolutely worth a visit with a very simple menu, and delicious bites. I had never had The Fat Falafel, and didn’t know 1000 Figs was the brick & mortar sister of the meals on wheels so I was a virgin to their concept and cookery. We walked over from a friend’s house this sunny Saturday to this bright little spot. We were handed clipboards to peruse the small menu at the counter. I ordered the Local Smoked Chicken Salad Sandwich with Rosemary Aioli on a Semolina Loaf, and my buddy ordered the Falafel Platter with Brussels Sprouts. We both got the Hibiscus Tea with free refills. At the word, Brussels Sprouts, I cringed and made«little kid ick» face. I have told more than one person every two weeks about my disdain for sour little sprout. I’ve tried to eat them a number of ways, and only once before at a crawfish boil, did I manage to enjoy the taste of one. We posted up in the window for some great people watching, and were served our Hibiscus Tea with a little carafe, that I emptied multiple times, and they kept filling up, not once judging me for my gluttonous guzzling of their delicious brew. Our sandwiches came out shortly after, and while I thought $ 11 is a little pricey for a sandwich, you get a salad, and this sandwich is definitely worth it. Perfectly crisp toast lightly touched with butter? olive oil? with a chicken salad so unlike the scooped lumps you may find in a buffet or grocery that it might even be blasphemous to call it chicken salad. The aioli was just enough to moisten the crisp celery and perfectly cooked chicken. I was full but could’ve probably eaten two. The lettuce is a variety with a very light dressing. My friend INSISTED I try a brussels sprouts. I, in the 2015 mood of potentially trying new things or things I found to be icky in 2014, obliged. Thank you, 1,000 Figs, for curing me of my childlike poo-pooing of brussels sprouts. I may not eat them anywhere else, but the bite-size sprouts here were crisp, crunchy and such an explosion of flavor with no hint of sourness, that I asked for another one. I also partook in my friend’s falafels, perfectly crisp on the outside and falafel-y on the inside with two great dipping sauces. The green, a minty/spicey dip was my favorite. I will say, it got pretty busy, once we were seated though food came out in a timely manner. I would say if you can’t catch a seat, order to-go and enjoy in the little park across the street or on the Cabrini Bridge. I will definitely be back!
