Good food. Good ambiance. Right in the center of New Rochelle!
Service was a bit slow, which was odd seeing that the restaurant was so tiny (only ~5 tables).
Will definitely be back. Hopefully the food comes out a bit quicker this time!

Great place, great wine, the shrimp cocktail was spot on! Would go again! The wine was so good and the owner let me sample between two wines which was above and beyond of her to do.

We have eaten here on many occasions, and it has become a regular spot for us. The menu changes frequently, which is bad when you are hoping for your favorite, but good because it keeps it fresh. Love the steak: cooked perfectly, with excellent seasoning, Love the burger, and love the French dip sandwich in particular. The chef has also been very accommodating our «customizations» as we are definitely finicky eaters. We will continue to make this a regular dining spot.

Lovely service. The people who work here are very kind and great with recommendations. I enjoyed the cheese plate which was very good, despite being quite pricey. It came with four cheeses, grapes, dried apricots, olives, and bread. The atmosphere here is warm, intimate, and inviting. It’s relatively quiet– the perfect environment for conversing with friends.

A gem in New Ro. The wines, cheese plates, atmosphere are all a positive. Not to mention the food. The farm to table presentation never fails. Great food, great people

I have only been to the wine shop next to the bistro. The service is great and they always have tastings. They are very knowledgeable and helpful when I come in needing a bottle for a brunch or holiday dinner. I am a member of the Wine Club and get 3 bottles a month, the choices vary and I always look forward to my delivery.

Spit roasted to perfection, it was so succulent and full of herby flavor. Sides of Roasted Root Vegetables and Mashed Potatoes are $ 5 extra.
Great value and a healthy meal too.

This place is AMAZING! The food is great and the service is awesome. The roasted chicken tastes amazing and the bread pudding is to die for.

We have been back to Sorel at least 6 times and have never been disappointed. The salads are literally the best I have ever had. I think it’s the combination of the local farm fresh ingredients, artisan cheeses and the expert preparation. The salads always have the perfect amount of each ingredient. Last nights heirloom grape tomatoes, blue cheese and mesclun greens were perfect. The other must-​have item on the current menu is the saffron flavored soup with shrimp and fingerling potatoes-​AMAZING!
As usual, the service was friendly and capable, even being served by a newer waitress with out old fave running the show. The atmosphere is lovely and the wine store was still open, so my husband purchased a bottle of the sauvignon blanc I was drinking for tonight!

Probably the worst meal we’ve had in ages. Flatbread was decent then it went downhill. Steak was inedible; by that I mean 80% fat and gristle and almost impossible to cut. Left most of it. The shrimp rigatoni was 80% lemon. We left feeling sick. Don’t get all the positive reviews; we were looking forward to a good meal. When I mentioned the steak issue to the server there was no reaction, no what can we do to make it right. Obviously not going back suggest you spare yourself the pain and the cost. They should stick to selling wine.

Found this place through Unilocal!Love the atmosphere here! The wine is delicious, and food impeccable. Their grilled chicken panini which is complimented with olives is very tasty. Their cheese platter goes very well with a glass of wine! Definitely coming back here!

Very cozy wine bar/​restaurant. I came here with a friend of mine last week and we really enjoyed our wine, and diner.

We go there often as we live in New Rochelle. One of the best that New Rochelle has to offer. Food is consistently good, the owners and chef are warm, welcoming, friendly and responsive to feedback. I am a fan of the kale salad and snowdance chicken in particular. Sometimes they have special theme nights with wine pairings, and each one that I have attended has been exceptional. Okay, in the early days the service was slow, but that was growing pains, the wait staff has improved tremendously since it first opened. I strongly recommend this as a great place to go.

This is more than just great food, this is a great place to hang out. The owner is amazing, and the open air kitchen adds to the ambiance. Love this place, always a great meal and always great wine.

I’ve blown past this place way too many times because my wife and I didn’t want to spend an evening in New Rochelle when we could very easily spend it in the upper east side with a 20 minute drive. They’re right at the corner of the block at the 1^st level of the Avalon Building, it’s hard to miss. However, this particular evening was FREEZING cold. Freezing to the point where all the bottles of water in my car froze and I couldn’t properly clean my glasses outside because they would frost the moment i applied any type of heat to them.
With that said, that cold night was a blessing. We showed up to our 9:30PM reservation, we were seated immediately by the door and noticed that there were a good amount of people inside. The place was virtually packed (mind you it is a very small restaurant). They presented us the menu and wine list and we were pretty impressed. We ordered two glasses of their «better» pinot noir and we were in paradise. My wife ordered the meatball served on top of polenta (small dish) and I went with the lamb shank. I’ve heard amazing things about the burger here, but I figured if she’s getting a meatball, I’d rather try a completely different category of food.
They served up the food and it all looked so pretty. The meatball was pretty large and the polenta was lovely. My lamb shank was very soft and the meat fell right off the bone. It was braised very nicely and the mashed potato/​veggie medley that they served it on top of went great with it.
About $ 70 later (including a 20% tip), we started walking out very happy but the waiter stopped us and asked us to sample a dessert wine that they wanted to put on the menu. AWESOME! It was delicious. We’ll be back!

Okay. I saw this place has a 5 on Unilocal so I felt like this was a sure win… Except it was far from one. It was as bright as a doctors office in there and the food/​service was mediocre. Really?
Pro: great vino. Really can’t argue with that.
Cons: bright as hell — I’d rather not experience a check up at dinner time. Lobster focaccia was fishy and not really on focaccia but instead flat bread. Portions were pretty small for price.

I’m thrilled that NYC quality restaurants are opening up on the forgotten strip of New Rochelle. Finally, all the apartment houses are bring commerce to this side of town. An open kitchen lets you see the chef and sous chefs in action.
For drinks, they serve only wine and beer, but since this is also the bistro part of the wine store, they have a great selection of reasonably priced wines. Our food was perfectly prepared, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The menu, I believe, changes with what is available in the market.
This place is teeny, so be sure to make a reservation on the weekend. My only negative is that if you are a twosome, the tables are very close together.

Great new addition to New Rochelle. A small but quaint place, the food is always fresh and well presented. There wine list is a nice variety and staff is more than friendly.
