This has became our favorite week night date spot! The soup dumplings are delicious and I’ve enjoyed every sushi roll I’ve tried. The waiters are very friendly and the food and drinks are brought to your table very quickly.

Absolutely tasteless and disgusting. The spicy salmon roll tasted a week old. The only the decent thing was the egg drop soup but it was salty. Gross. save your money and eat elsewhere

Beautiful restaurant, Nice décor and friendly employees. I have eaten here a few times with my husband and we always have a good experience. We usually order the steamed dumplings and sushi and we enjoy it. They also have tables outside to eat during the warmer months and a small bar in the front. Needless to say, we will be definitely be returning to this place.

I order from this place on a regular basis. I have never been in the actual restaurant, so I can’t really talk about the atmosphere. I always order the moo shu vegetables that are on the part of the menu marked as vegan. Pros: — Fast delivery(usually under an hour). — Very good price, the moo shu vegetables are $ 10 and come with 4 pancakes. That is a price that is hard to beat in this neighborhood. — Good quality food. Cons: — First time I ordered these they came with eggs. Any menu item marked under the vegan section should not have any diary or eggs. Next time I ordered I asked no eggs and they respected that. So if you are vegan, don’t forget to mention that they should not add eggs. All in all this will still be my go to take out spot when I want quick, cheap and good food.

Used to be very good chinese take out. I ordered from here recently and was extremely disappointed. Nothing tasted good. Chewy and tasteless. Won’t be ordering from here again. I always ordered the dumplings and this time they were inedible. Very disappointed that I can’t order from here anymore.

Still searching for good takeout Chinese food in upper west. This place is definitely less greasy but also very expensive. If I ordered again would stick to the scallion chicken, duck bun(best thing on menu), and soup. Mango is good but fried tofu is too chewy. The gailan(Chinese broccoli) is not overcooked but under seasoned. The soup is fresh but bit overly salty. The food is fresh and not greasy but not well seasoned and expensive. The pan fried veggie dumplings homemade but travel poorly(I should have known that). Finally the eggplant shrimp had delicious huge shrimp but the eggplant was undercooked and flavorless.

Waitstaff is great. Vegan sushi options Just could use more variety or no meat or fish. Otherwise it’s nice and reasonably priced

It is so hard to find a good eat-in Chinese restaurant on the UWS that is not of the spicy variety(Hunan, Szechuan). I ate here when it opened 4 years ago, then it changed to another restaurant, then it came back, with the addition of Sushi and Asian Fusion. So I just went back for the first time since, and my wife and I had an absolutely delicious meal of Chinese food. Fried pork dumplings and pork soup dumplings were delicious, had an amazing salad, and a excellent Peking Duck(only $ 19!!!). Staff was very friendly. We are ready to go back in two days with friends. I can’t comment on take-out…you get what you get with Chinese take-out…you want to eat Chinese food as soon as it comes out of the kitchen!

Used to be really good. Now they serve reheated slop. It’s completely disgusting. Everything is chewy, was clearly microwaved, and they didn’t even try to hide it as it was literally delivered in 8 minutes.

I was having a rare craving for cold sesame noodles and decided to check out Canteen 82. I’m so glad I did — the noodles were excellent(and cheap!). I’ll definitely get them again — and I look forward to trying their soup dumplings!

We just order takeout but we LOVE this place. We’ve had to hunt so hard to find an authentic Chinese restaurant that we like on the Upper West Side. Get the Singapore style rice noodles with Shrimp(Same price as chicken). SO yummy and a tad spicy. Soup dumplings are pretty good — it’s nice to be able to get those on the upper west side and via delivery.

Amazing find for Chinatown quality homemade dumplings. There should be a line out the door for the dumplings, but there isn’t because nobody really knows what this place is. If the owners simply renamed the restaurant to something understandable like«Dumpling House», they’d get huge crowds. Instead their signs confuse you by advertising sushi and salad. WTF? Anyway, our favorite dishes are the pork soup dumplings, the duck buns, the first curry on the menu, and the pan pan noodles with white sauce. All of these are as good as Chinatown without the hassle. Note: the dumplings don’t travel so well. I don’t recommend the dumplings for takeout or delivery.

I felt compelled to review Canteen 82 since I reviewed a much worse Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. The food here is pretty standard Westernized Chinese food and Sushi. It got something for everyone. The quality is consistently good. It’s not too greasy. The vegetables are fresh. What I love about this place is how nice the staff is– even when we come in a large group with children. The back room has enough space that we don’t disturb anyone. And yet it’s a pretty and quaint restaurant– not a place where you would only ever order take out from.

SOTASTY! My new local favorite. I make it a point to go here as often as possible. There are so few good Chinese restaurants left on the UWS, and I love that this one is not the usual, average, gloppy, oily restaurant. Flavors are delicious, food is served in very generous portions. The seaweed salad is a must. Even if you don’t like seawed – because it is so delicious! Field greens, tomato, mango, jicama, avocado and a little bit of seaweed with a delicious Asian dressing. Yum, yum. i can’t vouch for the Japanese food as I’ve never ordered it, but from the look of it and the empty plates I see going back, it looks to me like it is good too. Overall so happy to have them in the neighborhood.

I would give the restaurant 3.5 stars. It was fairly priced. We ordered the sushi lunch menu. I thought it was good sushi and would return if I’m in the area. The price was very fair. The service was good and timely. A good quick bite

I’ve only had them once, so maybe they deserve another try, but the one time scarred me enough to not want to. Everything I ate tasted like it was cooked in soap. Their dumplings LOOKED good, but the taste was so off putting I couldn’t even try to finish them. Scallion pancakes were ok. Pretty disappointing. I was looking forward to a good Chinese place within walking distance.

This place is right next door to my work and I am addicted to their sushi. They have a very affordable 2 roll lunch special that comes with soup or salad for $ 8.50. You can’t beat that. Staff is very friendly and the seasonal outdoor seating is a huge plus. Great for large parties and very affordable during the lunch hour. Everything is very very fresh, even down to the crisp lettuce and veggies they use to make your salads! No iceberg lettuce here friends! Go for lunch on a nice day and sit outside! You won’t regret it!
