I like George, the way he cuts hair and his prices do not reflect his skill. In a different part of NYC he could charge more. I always come out looking good. Yes, sometimes you have to wait even with an appointment, but be reasonable, the man is making his living in NYC on low prices and volume. He is always worth the wait and I tip him well because my hair looks good for up to 6 weeks. Well worth a measly $ 15.

I highly recommend Chelsea Grand Barbershop. I’ve been going there for over five years now, since I found few places in the city that consistently give such an exacting military-style, crew cut. George does a great job cutting my hair in a way that stays looking great day after day until my next haircut. Because there are only two barbers in the shop, it’s best to visit and get George’s phone number for future appointments. You can text him for an approximate time to come in. It’s sort of like an appointment without an appointment. My old barbershop I could sometimes wait up to 40 minutes, which drove me crazy. Normally, the wait at Chelsea Grand is just a few minutes from the time George estimates, but you also need to be on time or you may lose your spot. Chelsea Grand is well-priced for a precision hair cut that looks great for the long haul, not just a few days like other barbers I’ve tried.

AWFUL. I called my old barber George and asked when I could come for an appointment, since I’d be doing it on my lunch break and didn’t really have time to wait. He said 2 o’clock. Got to the shop at 2PM and he was just taking another customer — told me I had to wait 15 minutes. I don’t like going to people who can’t keep their appointments. I won’t be going back.

I commute from the east side to get my hair cut by George. He’s the best. Pays real close attention to detail.
