THISLOCATIONISNOWCLOSED — went by 6⁄3 and it’s gated up. Called yesterday and the line was directed to a Thai restaurant voicemail which is what is taking its place. RIP Chicken Festival UES :(

Chicken is delicious. Beans and Rice are divine. Green sauce is wonderful. Can’t wait to return for more!

I’ve gotten takeout from here many times. Usually order the half chicken meal or the lomo saltado, always with a side of tostones. Both are solid entrees. Tostones are usually hot and fresh. They do charge you for extra green sauce but it’s worth it. Overall, affordable and consistent.

My new FAVORITE Peruvian spot in the hood. No kind of ambiance inside but who cares when the food tastes this good! The chicken and sweet potatoes are a staple in my house hold. Delivery is quick and the staff has been great so far. FIVESTARS.

I had a great dinner here, I was by myself and ate quite a bit! The service was quick and everyone was very kind. I had the half chicken, yuca, yellow rice and chica morada. The chicken was cooked deliciously and the green sauce was perfect with it.

I got the regulation order, chicken with rice and beans, and an avocado salad. I’d say this place is a solid 2.5÷5. If you want better peruvian chicken, go to Pio Pio. I hear its closeby.

I dont understand why this place has mixed reviews. Its waaaay better than piopio in so many ways– better green sauce, better fries(they have sweet potato fries!), better chicken, better everything. Fast delivery to our home. My husband and I love Chicken Festival! Dont hesitate, just give it a try!

I wanted to like this place, I really did!!! Came highly recommended from a friend and there’s nothing I like better than a platter of meat, rice and beans. I got the half chicken with rice and beans and unfortunately it was soooo salty I had to take off all the skin of the chicken, and left the rice and beans :(I’m actually sad that I didn’t enjoy this meal. The plus side? The maduros are OUTOFTHISWORLD and honestly I would go back to try some other things.

Delicious Moist Chicken that is served with a killer green sauce. Can’t beat the lunch special $ 9 for Half Chicken, A Side(Rice & Peas??), Side Salad and a Soda.

Good neighborhood place with reasonable prices. I had never had — or even heard of – Peruvian cuisine. I had the chicken and ribs combo and enjoyed it. The seasoning had a clean taste — not over-done and tasted great without any sauce. Just the essence of the meat, well prepared. We also had a side of tostones — it was my first time with this fried plantain dish and I enjoyed it but I have to say it was a little dry. It came with a sauce that was just OK. Considering the overall value, I’d definitely go back.

The chicken here is the juiciest and most flavorful I’ve had in New York, and it’s for a good price too. Their lunch combo which comes with a quarter chicken, a small salad, a side of your choice and a soda for $ 9 is the best deal you can get in UES.

I used to order out and then stopped when the quality dropped and the price went up. Usually it was for dinner and I’d take out. A whole chicken and some yuka fries. Today we went in for lunch after a long hiatus. I had the ½ chicken combo with rice & beans, my wife had the avocado salad and she ordered a ¼ chicken for the protein. The chicken was obviously left over from yesterday and reheated in a convection oven. My dish came out with the yellow rice like a tasteless giant yellow hockey puck. I mentioned that to the waitress and she said; «I never eat the yellow rice only the white rice.» The white rice was marginally better. The beans were in a separate dish and it was cooked beans in water, that was no gravy at all!!! My wife’s salad was with iceberg lettuce and mostly lettuce, huge yes mostly lettuce and not worth the 9.00, up charge for the breast $ 1.00 All in all this place has taken a giant slide downhill and we won’t be back! $ 30.00 for a crummy lunch for two? I could have gone to the cool French bistro next door for a few more bucks!

Had the pollo a la brasa from here. If you have had Peruvian chicken before, you are probably familiar with Pio Pio. Well, the chicken here is as good. It is just as juicy and just as flavorful. However, for similar prices, you get a larger portion. Also, I actually like the aji verde(green sauce) from this place even better. It has a more rich and tangy taste to it. However, I will admit that their rice and beans were not so good. Very bland and the beans were definitely of the cheap, canned variety. Next time, I will try some of their other dishes.

Best Peruvian rotisserie chicken ever! Been eating there for several years and I can honestly say that I’ve never had a bad meal.

I thought Pio Pio had my only vote for Peruvian chicken. Chicken festival has won my vote as well! I got the combination plate, which included ¼ of a chicken, 2 spare ribs, rice and beans. I also tried it with their green hot sauce, AMAZING! $ 15 for the portion I got was well worth it. I’ve had juicier ribs, but their ribs weren’t bad. However, their chicken was delicious! So tender, juicy and full of flavor! I saw a bunch of different platters on the menu that looked very appetizing. I’ll definitely be back!

It’s a small, quaint restaurant. About 5 tables inside. The host is your server My friend wanted Spanish food so we did what I do best, I Unilocaled it. It was the closest restaurant to where we were at a reasonable price. The other Unilocal reviews seem to be spot on. A perfect meal with bad service. They were just opening up when we walked in and the host/severer didn’t seem too pleased. We were the only table. It took a few minutes before the server came over and took another ten minutes before she came back with water. My friend ordered the half chicken combo and I ordered the quarter chicken combo. The portions were huge to say the least and the meal is unforgettable! I don’t know much about Spanish food but my taste buds were definitely screaming for more! She didn’t come to check up n us during the whole meal. Overall, I definitely enjoyed the meal and look forward to coming back soon! Minus a star for the service.

We stopped in here for dinner a couple of weeks ago and were somewhat disappointed. To start off, they only have a «B» for their heath grade. Since it was well reviewed on Unilocal we figured we’d brave the«B» and try it. The food was good. Their green sauce was very good. But otherwise, this is not my favorite choice for Peruvian chicken. The service was another matter. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t good. The waitress was sitting at a table near the hostess stand busy with her iPad and cell phone and anytime we wanted her we had to call out to her(small place and there was only 1 other table there).

The chicken is so good and the spicy sauce and yellow rice are wonderfully paired with the chicken. Yum! Came here again after a long time and it was still delicious. Not sure if there is milk inside the Spicer sauce but it tastes so good that i often get a stomachache from eating so much of it. –_– A bit more on the pricey side now, but at least the food is still good. Would definitely come again :)

This place is neck to neck with pio pio… great chicken, delicious lomo saltado and huge yummy pitcher of sangria! All for $ 65+tips. Service was good and friendly. But I thought it was weird that we swing by around 8pm on a friday night and we were the only person there all night… come on guys, dont forget those chicken here!

Believe the hype. Picked up the quarter chicken with rice and beans & a side of maduros, and was not disappointed. Tasty and filling — and great value! Follow everyone else’s advice, and partake of the green sauce. No, I don’t know what it is, either. If I had to guess, I’d say there’s pepper(s), and maybe cilantro, and a whole lot of tongue happiness. Next time I want rotisserie chicken, I’m skipping the chickens at Fairway, and I’m in for some festive chicken. (Can you imagine what a Peruvian chicken festival would look like? Craziness abounds)

If you want a festival in your mouth, to the point where you will pass out from all the festivities, then here it is! Chicken festival is pure peruvian comfort food. Last time I had peruvian food was at Limon in SF, and from what it looks like, others have compared this place to Limon. Not so quite the greatest comparison because Limon is a bit fancier with their plates. Delivery and take out is available here. I ordered the combo of ribs and rotisserie chicken. This came with saffron rice, beans, and salad with a side of their yummy spicy sauce. This lasted me a good 3 meals. Their portion is more than generous for being a small restaurant in the Upper East Side. The chicken was delicious and moist. Next time, I will make sure to ask for more sauce!
