very bad restaurant. They are fucking the customer by including automatically the tip without any consent. Waiter absolutely awful and disgusting. To avoid by all means

They included a gratuity of 18% on a party of 3. So not cool. Service was not terrible but was not good either. I was in a rush and tried to make that clear once or twice but still had to ask to place my order, ask to get my bill. Food was good to very good. We ordered a Margherita pizza and Sicilian rice balls. I was a little disappointed that the pizza didn’t have little islands of white mozzarella but was instead just covered with shredded cheese and that I had to tear and distribute the sprig of basil that was in the center of the pie myself. It was still a good, fresh, and hot pie though so I’m not too upset about that. Sparkling mineral water was very nice. I wasn’t outraged about its $ 8 price tag as some others on Unilocal were. Main strike against was the included gratuity. Maybe it’s because they have nany tourists who don’t know the American way, but still not an excuse. Put pre-calculated suggestions on the bill or something

It’s 2am in the morning and I’m no longer in NYC(vacation’s over), and yet I feel it’s my civic duty to type this review to save some unsuspecting soul from wasting their time, money, and patience on this poor excuse for a restaurant. Absolutely awful. Seriously folks, pay attention to the negative reviews for this one, they are well-deserved from my experience. My wife and I took the subway to Little Italy one night during our 4-night stay in NYC, and happened upon this very visually-appealing little eatery while just taking in the scene. And that’s the most positive thing that came out of the scenario. We sat, got soft drinks and waited for the server to take our order… and then waited some more. and then some more… and then *finally* he checked on us and we got the orders in. Fast-forward 30 minutes later, no food, glasses empty from a single fill, and random passings-by from our *very busy* server(we were his only table, but he and the other servers only had time to check out the pretty ladies passing by this hole-in-the-wall) but not to check on us. Fast forward 10 more minutes and *finally* the food comes out; saddest excuse for italian I’ve ever had. I ordered the gnocchi, which I’ve never had before, and it was as delicious as our server was attentive — thinly-sliced, mushy potato pasta and sauce from a can. I don’t even think Chef Boyardee would claim something as shoddy as my meal. Just disappointing. And how much did we pay for such a magical meal(consisting of no alcohol, mind you)? — $ 71. Wow. I could’ve been mugged of $ 71 on the street and would have at *least* had an interesting story to tell my friends and family! Wait, I *was* mugged — surrounded by the sounds of your stereotypical Sinatra tunes blaring from this«ristorante di merda». The joint is probably the size of a large dorm room at a college, and yet the service is absent like the place is a three-story Olive Garden. Ridiculous. Folks, seriously, if you’re all about pretense and atmosphere, and don’t give one solid crap about the food or service, by all means, dump your cash right here(with«dump» being the most appropriate term). If you actually want value for your money, and a decent and reasonably-priced meal, for the love of all that’s holy in all of the Italian-speaking part of the world, don’t give in to the Dean Martin swooning from their sound system — walk, no run, *anywhere* else. Just. Friggin’. Terrible.

Emanuele and Dario were great hosts and amazing service. Beautiful prime location in the heart of little Italy, couldn’t have been happier. Food is delicious and excellent experience. Don’t miss this place!

We were visiting NY and had to pass through Little Italy on the way to our hotel We decided to try this place. Gustavo was our server. We wanted pizza and was told they only serve personal size, so we each ordered one. Even though those personal size pizzas were larger than expected, we each finished ours. They were OK, nothing special. Each personal pizza was $ 16. When we asked for water, we were given a choice, «natural or sparkling?». I should’ve told him to simply give us «free» water. He brings out a bottle of natural water, which was $ 7 a pop. Little Italy was always a tourist trap, and this was on full display here. Why offer a whole pizza of different sizes, when you can charge more by only offering personal sizes that start at $ 16 each for cheese only? Why provide free water as the default, when you might be able to sucker in a request for paid water by pretending there are on two choices: «natural water or sparkling water»? No wonder this section of town is shrinking. We will be frequenting NY quite a bit over the next four years, and I’m content to walk through Little Italy on my way to getting an Italian Sub at Subway.

AWFUL. For the love of God do not go here. This was the worst NYC dining mistake I have made in years. Tourist trap. Don’t know what happened, but got lured in by the pretty lights. 2 people, $ 75 dollars, shit food. If you like Italian food, or care about your wallet, or yourself, just don’t do it. Please do not. Eat literally anywhere else and you will almost certainly be happier. Scam.

We won’t be back. Our food took 30+ minutes. We had to ask for bread and a bread refill. Bathroom is filthy. Sink was full of water. Service was terrible

There are a ton of restaurants to choose from in little italy, and it’s very difficult to find an authentic one amongst them. I’ve lived here for 12 years and the appeal of little italy always attracts the tourists, but as a local I am so happy to have found one of the best, real, authentic italian restaurants in the area! I always get the home made gnocci, with their fresh pomodoro sauce, it’s wonderfully seasoned with fresh basil, onions and garlic! the ambiance is wonderfully quaint and the staff are very attentive but also will give you your space if you just want to have some peace and quiet while you dine. Perfect for dinners solo, on a date, or with friends and family. I am vegetarian(don’t eat dairy though) and they are happy to accommodate. highly recommended !!

40 $/btl house wine on vinyl tablecloths. Only after pushing did we get a bread basket, which was cold and hard. Food was hot but not great. Not worth 20 $/entrée. The wait staff was sub-par and not deserving of the 20% gratuity on our table of 5.

Showing a friend around the city, Ciao is down the block of my apt and right in front of the Little Italy sign, so we decided to have a quick bite. Ciao has much friendlier staff than most nearby establishments. We got a 4 Stagioni pizza. Big, gooey and delicious. It’s perfect cuz I like artichoke and ham, she prefers mushroom and olive. We each got a glass of wine while people watching. Very chill, nice music. Highly recommend if you are with family looking for a cozy little spot near Little Italy.

We were here a few years ago and returned because it is an easy walk from our hotel in Times Square. We had good memories of this little Italian restaurant. It is very small and the tables are tight but that does not work against this place. The servers are very friendly and helpful. The food is very well prepared and it seems the prices are less that the typical Times Square tourist place. The first time we went here because our hotel concierge told us it was a local’s favorite spot. He was right and after three visits it does seem like an insider’s special spot. We look forward to next time!

Got conned into this place by the spruiker after he assured me they served the best wood fired pizza, wish we kept walking. Order the«4 Quattro» pizza, it came out wet. There was a pool of water in the middle of it and the base was soaked, had to try to eat it with a spoon. Showed the waiter but he didn’t seem too fussed, it was like it was microwaved then flashed in the oven? Gave it a shot anyway thinking the flavors may redeem the wet base– tinned champignons, tinned black olives, artichokes and cubed lunch ham? Nothing redeeming, worst pizza I’ve ever had. This is a tourist trap, stay clear.

Not sure why this place doesn’t have too many reviews yet. Was walking down little Italy trying to figure out a restaurant to dine in, the Christmas lights outside struck us! It was so cute. They had a vegan/vegetarian menu about 5 – 6 items which was great. They offered bread, were quick with service and the food was yummy with enormous portions! I ordered the vegan fusilli pasta which was a lot of sautéed vegetables, with fusilli pasta and tomato sauce. My hubby ordered the chicken parm and loved it! The prices are relatively good too compared to all of the other options in that area. Check this place out!

Spaghetti & meatballs and lasagne after we split a caramelised onion and goats cheese bruschetta. With a beer(medium Peroni) and an iced tea. Food was ok. They added 20% to to the bill, taking it to $ 73 give or take a few cents. Expensive for what we had. Service was just ok, but when asked to recommend between a lasagne and a carbonara, all we got was: «one has white sauce, the other has tomato sauce». Not the best. Food was average.

My girlfriend and I came across this restaurant named«Ciao» and we decided to give it a try. An Italian guy named Domenico welcomed us and invited us to sit down. We had a little chat with him before we ordered, we talked about Italy and off course about food! He had a great sense of humour and made both of us laugh. He suggested some fried calamari to start and we loved it. We also liked the pizza margherita and frutti di mare spaghetti. The staff was really friendly. We will definitely come back.

Our early dinner experience is a mix. The location(corner of broom &) with a clear view of the«Welcome to Little Italy» sign in the middle of little Italy and the sidewalk sitting area with the Italian chatter on the background makes this place the ideal lunch destination. Our lunch had a very bad start. We were sitted after asking if we should sit ourselves. After 10 – 15 minutes, my granddaughter got up to go ask for a menu at the bar(since we couldn’t get anyone to acknowledge our presence. Right after, the lady on the table next to us got up to ask for their check at the bar as well, since they were having zero success getting their server’s attention. After 10 – 15 minutes of looking through the menu — I suggested to my granddaughter that we should go somewhere else. While we discussed our departure we saw another couple(in their 60’s) leave. And about two minutes thereafter a server with a very«peppy» attitude showed up to take our order. He was polite, offered help to my granddaughter on her choice of spaghetti sauce, and showed me on the menu the items I would probably like. I ordered the special at his suggestion… Mushroom Risotto with Truffles. And the Chianti glass of wine also suggested to pair well with my food. Our food was served in the next 10 minutes. A gentleman came to check on us and make us feel good about what we have ordered. In another 10 minutes he checked in how we were doing. I saw him talking to customers and employees all with the focus of making the customers happy and feeling good for eating there. And at that time the restaurant began to fill-up. Our meal ended on a positive note.

Has changed its name slightly, but it is a the same restaurant at the opening of Little Italy. The table was on the sidewalk allowing us to enjoy the people, the traffic and the views… perfect. The special was $ 15 a person with three courses and it was a very, very good filling meal. HIGHLYRECOMMENDTHISPLACEFORLUNCH!
