Once in a while, I will come here on my lunch break at work. It’s not the BEST indian food I’ve ever had, but it’s definitely very tasty. The staff has always been friendly and courteous and mindful of my time constraints on a lunch break. Their lunch special is a good deal. Really enjoyed the chicken tikka masala. Not too expensive either, which Indian food sometimes can be. Only major gripe? Needs air conditioning. Will be back for other lunches, I’m sure.

I love this place. I particularly recommend the lamb bhuna(so good!!) and the okra(but ask for some spice — I usually get medium spicy — because it’s bland without it). [Edited to add: For some reason lamb bhuna isn’t on their online delivery menus, but whenever I call it is available. There are very few things that will get me to use a phone to make an actual call, but lamb bhuna is one of them.] I usually get delivery from here, but apparently everyone else does too, which — I discovered to my delight — makes Curry Kitchen a great choice when you want to eat out on Friday night without waiting or dealing with loud mobs. My server was really nice, to boot.

I selected Curry Kitchen due to its proximity to the subway and the fact that my friend had not eaten Indian food since getting married serval years ago. I arrived early and my friend was late which seemed to confuse them. Plus I had made a reservation via Open Table and 3 staff members told me they don’t use it. When I showed them my confirmation they said that Open Table didn’t tell them and I didn’t need a reservation. The meal Veggie Samosa perfectly crisp dough stuffed with fluffy curry potatoes & veg served with sweet & hot sauces Chicken tikka it was a bit bland for my taste but my friend enjoyed it. Saag Paneer creamy spinach with chunks of cheese — good stuff. Basmati Rice was good and well seasoned but there’s an up charge for rice! Ok this might be an issue for me since I’ve been out of NYC so long. Plain Naan — crispy and pillowy at the same time so good we had two orders. Raita yogurt sauce good but the food was not spicy @ all so it wasn’t necessary. The wine situation was interesting. We ordered a bottle and got 2 glasses filled to the rim. I’m not sure where the disconnect was on that one. Tried to use the 10% Unilocal check in discount but they gave a 50% discount instead. I’m not complaining; just scratching my head. I won’t make a special trip back but if I’m in the West Village on W8th STR acting like it is 1986(the year I lived in that ‘hood) I’d give them another shot.

Very slow delivery! When food arrived, bread was burnt, hard, and cold, and the food, was barely luke warm.

I came in here today for a mid-afternoon lunch. They have a sign posted in the door about a lunch special combo but that is only for takeout which I didn’t notice. I was told many of the menu items were half price. I inquired about the shrimp vindaloo but was told that vindaloo was not half price. I ordered the lamb vindaloo. It came with both rice and choice of bread. I had the regular naan. When my food came out all at once it looked sufficiently hot and spicy. Since I had both rice and naan with my curry which were all separate, I ate the rice with the pieces of lamb and few pieces of potato and used the naan to soak up all the gravy from the spicy curry. About that time another patron came in who apparently is a regular customer. He sat on the opposite wall. We exchanged a few comments during the rest of our meal. There were potatoes and thin slivers of ginger. The ginger might overtake your palate if you are not accustomed to it. When the waiter knew I was done he cleared my dishes. He didn’t seem in a rush to get me out but he did bring my bill. I put the money in the billfold and was given correct change. Once I left the tip and it was collected I thanked the workers there.

I used to love this place. I ordered recently and — dear god — I don’t know what happened to the chef, but I have never seen such a greasy, flavorless mess. The mango lassi was excellent, but since the cup was 75% ice I didn’t get much of it. The delivery was fast and the delivery person was very nice. That’s about all I can say. Sorry, guys, but you were WAY better than this!

I placed a delivery order for chicken tikka masala(the full entrée in the«chicken curries» section of the menu). I received a compartmentalized container with: 1 section of rice covered with chick peas, mushy vegetables, and tomato sauce, 1 small section filled with mushy vegetables of some sort and also partially filled with what I assume is tikka masala sauce(I can’t tell if it is solely that, or a combination of that and some kind of other sauce intended for the vegetables), and a final tiny section — measuring 3.75″ X 2.5″ — that looks like it was intended to be filled with chicken tikka masala, but was half filled with a watery sauce with 4 small pieces of chicken. I called to inform them that I did not receive what I ordered and was told«you ordered the combo». I quoted the receipt which confirmed I did not order the combo, and that I paid the higher price for a full entrée. They did grant me a refund upon request since this is not what I ordered and I couldn’t even bring myself to eat what was delivered. Even if I had ordered a «combo» I would have been extremely disappointed to receive this. I posted a picture of it, it looked quite disgusting as served.

Great service, excellent food. Our waiter was great(our glasses were full the entire meal). The food came out very quickly and in generous portions. Recommend the Saag Paneer.

Kerala crab curry– Oddly the guy working seemed annoyed I tried using my Unilocal check in for the free dessert. He kept looking to see if there was any expiry, what it was finally then said«ok I’ll give you the dessert and free rice» was so annoyed by the sitch that I didn’t order anything else. How are you gonna raise a fuss when the customer just ordered the most expensive dish on your menu? The curry was plentiful, but not very good. I threw it to pawn off on friends when they come for dinner… I think I oughtta chuck it

Decent lunch special around NYU. I ordered through Unilocal and picked up my lunch about 15 minutes later. For around $ 11, I got rice and two vegetable specials. One was chickpeas, which were good and the other was a curry with cauliflower and green beans. It also came with naan and was plenty of food for lunch. I definitely prefer lunch specials where you get to choose your veggie dish instead of getting whatever is «of the day» but I would probably eat here again.

Small portions, bland flavor, lower quality meats. Considering that, it is extremely overpriced. The waiter was very friendly, welcoming, and lovely.

At first, when walking by this place, you don’t particularly feel it’s going to be a good Indian restaurant. Well, the first time we went in, it was empty and music was thumping below us(apparently there is a night club below them). We ordered the makhani but with paneer and it was very nice. Smooth, creamy and mild. Just as we had ordered it. The waiter was very friendly, but he has only two tables to tend to. We also ordered the spicy shrimp which was very good. For the first time we went, I would give them 4 stars, but the second time we went last week, it was disappointing. We orders the makhani and it was runny and the sauce tasted like it was from a can. Guess they changed the chef. Seems they are mainly focusing on take-away orders and the chef has changed :-(. I’m not sure if I will go back.

Worst customer service! I ordered my food online through the Eat24 app after calling the restaurant and confirming that they can make the item I was about to order. The employee I had spoken to earlier calls me back after I placed my order only to tell me that they can’t make it with the customization I had asked for. I told him that he could deliver the original item instead, after which he tells me that the ‘chef’ is not going to make that either because he left the restaurant and then hung up on me. Shitty employees, shitty customer service. Never eating there again.

Had food delivered from this place tonight and will never order from here again. Nor should you. The chicken dish we got as our main course(Shahi Korma) consisted of about 4 or 5 tiny chunks of chicken in a soup of sauce. Total rip-off. A can of Campbell’s chunky soup has more meat in it. The other dishes were mediocre. Not inedible but not particularly good, either. Then, around 3 hours after the food was delivered, the restaurant called and claimed we didn’t pay the delivery guy and we owed them money. The bill had come to $ 43 and I gave the guy $ 50 and told him to keep the change. These morons actually had the nerve to call us at 10:30 at night and argue with us that we had to pay for food that we had paid for and eaten several hours earlier. What a joke.

We love this place! We order in almost once a week! The delivery deal is amazing, for about $ 15 you get an appetizer, an entrée with rice, and naan bread! Can’t beat that! — The chicken tikka masala is fantastic, very thick, rich and creamy! — For appetizer we always order the«thing too complicated to describe» on the menu. Basically, it is like Indian nachos. You have some sort of cut fried bread and it is topped with sauces, crunchies, chick peas and some sort of magic. It’s amazing– if anything, order that! — They also have a 4 naans special for $ 12, totally worth it if you like bread as much as we do! Go with the sweet ones :) — Mango lassis are also great! — Staff is super kind and welcoming!

Excellent food– so so so yummy! Went with two friends from work the other day and we each got something different and they were all amazing dishes. I had the shrimp biryani and it was great! Also some of the best garlic naan I’ve ever had. And the rice pudding dessert was excellent! Very nice owner as well.

I order from this restaurant almost every Friday night and always ask for the Chicken Tika Masala, Mild. I can’t eat spicy foods and CurryKitchen always accommodates my blander taste. It is absolutely delicious. It comes with a carton of wonderful rice prepared in the Indian fashion that gives it a unique flavor. The portion is really enough for 2 people and I usually get 2 servings out of it, making it very economical. I have tried other dishes as well and liked them also, but the Chick Tika Masala has addicted me(in a good way). The only meats they serve are lamb and chicken and I have never been disappointed. Desserts are yummy too. Service is friendly and Delivery is fast.

Walked in to a small cozy spot for a party of 10+ and they seem to be able to accomadate.(***) I had the Chicken Tikka Masala. It was not spicy at all so that was good for me since I can’t really take spicy. I like the curry, it had this strong tomato taste that makes you want to eat. I don’t like their rice. It was really dried so I covered it with massive curry and it helped a lot. Portion of this wasn’t to big, I was able to finish my meal even though I came in with a semi-full stomach. I would consider this lunch size portion if you are having dinner here.(***) The service was good. We had some interaction with the waiter. I give him credit for being able to chit chat even though he had to cater the whole restaurant. I checked in on Unilocal and did run into problem with getting the 10% off my meal, but in the end they were able to honor the discount. Yay!(***) The bathroom was fairly clean.(***)

Meh… Iove Indian food. But I didn’t enjoy my food. I ordered the Garam Lukme(Spinach and Onion fritters) I found them bland and not as flavorful as I expected them to be. My friend enjoyed hers — She got the Shrimp Curry and was pretty happy with it. Maybe it was a poor choice on my part. If I come back I’ll order differently. The service was good, attentive without being annoying. All in all likely a good place. I just ordered wrong.

Well, I’ve given this place 2 chances, and unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be back. First time, I dined in for lunch when there is a 50% off special. This was great, as the menu is expensive otherwise. Only, if you order a curry, don’t expect rice to be included– you have to purchase that too, on the side. I had the chicken tikka, and found it way too spicy, even after asking for it to be cooked mild. Our experience was further killed when our server mysteriously disappeared and it took nearly half an hour after we finished eating for our check to arrive. I have a limited lunch break, and it’s not ok waiting an extra 30 minutes to pay when I need to get back to work. Curry Kitchen also offers combo lunches, only for pickup or delivery. All menus online(seamless, Curry Kitchen’s website, etc.) promise the combos to be served with rice, naan, raita, salad, and the vegetable of the day. I guess they stopped doing that, because I didn’t receive any raita or salad. The portions were good and the food was ok, but my naan was severely undercooked– most of it was still extremely doughy and inedible. Sorry Curry Kitchen. You’re close to my work and offer reasonable lunch prices, but you struck out with me twice):

New favorite curry spot in Manhattan. Tons of options to begin with, and you can also customize the spiciness of each dish. Lots of Indian spots assume when you mark something as medium or hot you don’t mean it. Curry Kitchen knows wassup! Medium was decently spicy, but not overwhelming. Only complaint? The sole vegetable in the curry was potato. I’d love a little more variety.
