Found a bug in my salad. Watch out for bugs. Ordered food from Dante’s on Seamless. It came on time, but unfortunately I found a bug.

Went in for breakfast and was happy I did. A Greek omelette and coffee hit the spot. I’m a big eater and wasn’t disappointed. For under $ 7 I shared an authentic diner breakfast with loud construction guys and wall street types. Perfect!

What You Should Know: They have a fabulous Salad Special! Your pick or romaine or spring lettuce, 4 veggies, 1 cheese, 1 meat + bottled water or small fountain drink $ 7.57(including tax). Hefty salad for a great value! They also have a hot food section, specialty salads, sandwiches, a small cold food bar, cakes & baked assortments!

I have been here a few times just because it is directly across the street from the building where I have class which makes it easy for me to escape without needing a coat to grab some coffee. It’s probably the cheapest place in the area for some breakfast. They have some spinach, different kinds of eggs, a variety of sausages with onions and peppers, crepes, French toast, bagels, etc. My favorite was the little bagel sandwiches they have all ready made with cheese and turkey. You can get yourself a pretty hefty amount and just pay between $ 5 – 7. You can also get things ordered at the grill if you prefer a hot sandwich. It’s definitely the best deal in this area. The staff is really friendly especially the girls at the register. There is a $ 5.00 minimum for credit cards which I think it really fair. I can’t say much about their lunch options, but it’s definitely the way to go for your breakfast. I didn’t give it a 5 because they only have small cups near the coffee machine which is annoying because you’re forced to ask one of the women behind the counter for a large cup instead of them just placing them with the small ones to begin with. Poor organization! –Get it together!

I took a walk back to my old stomping grounds to search for new entries for my Unilocal 100 challenge and settled on Dante’s. This neighborhood pizza/deli spot is around the corner from NY Downtown Hospital, and many who were in there for lunch had badges or scrubs. I opted for the personal Bianco pizza, though I should have tried something with more interesting toppings because I was thoroughly disappointed. Sure the brick oven is a nice touch, but it didn’t help the nearly flavorless crust. Pizza is usually crust, sauce and cheese so when one ingredient is weak, the pie suffers. Take away the sauce and there’s bigger trouble. I probably should have also gone with the fried shrimp. They were big and beautifully fried and, based on how many people stopped to get some, a popular dish. There were a few other steam trays with various items, and I’d find it hard to believe they wouldn’t have been a vast improvement on the pizza. Oh well. I’m not sure I’ll be back.

I used to go to Dante’s all the time for the salad with four vegetables and meat. It was full and a decent buy. Now there are new guys making salad who make a skimpy salad. I have told the manager but they remain skimpy. For $ 7.50 the salad is now a major rip-off. I will be looking for a new salad place downtown.

I have to say… for a Breakfast buffet… this place is GREAT! I love their selections and everything more or less is delicious! The Buffet is about $ 4.75 per pound… but I have a good amount of food for only about $ 3 and some change. DEFINITELY check this place out if your walking around the area wondering«what’s for breakfast?» NOTE: CREDITCARDMINIMUMCHARGE $ 5.00.(like many places around here)

I stop by here for lunch or breakfast(if i’m really starving) once in a while. The most interesting experience was with their advertisement of discount for local university staff/students. Asked for it once for breakfast buffet, they said it was for lunch only. Came for lunch they said Friday is excluded… so it took a few tries.

Great place for breakfast! Although I did not have it, the buffet looks very good. $ 3 for a egg, bacon, and cheese on a kaiser role breakfast sandwich, one that is made very well? Plus a wide selection of coffee and other drinks, all at great prices? What is not to love?

I really just love this place for the breakfast buffet. There is a wide variety of breakfast treats. I love the turkey sausage, greens, eggs, and can’t forget about the french toast. OHHH man it is so good. Check out goes quickly sometimes and you can get a free coffee, but I like getting the tea with lemon yummy!!!

All of these stars are for the BREAKFASTBUFFET. The food is ridiculously cheap and surprisingly well-seasoned. They usually have 3 different kinds of sausage, several different kinds of eggs, spinach and more. I often heap on a large portion of eggs and meat and find that it comes in under $ 3 including the free coffee. At lunch it gets a little less impressive. The price of the buffet goes from $ 3.75/lb to $ 5.75/lb which ends up making a huge difference when you get to the scale. Still, they have good variety, excellent salads(I think there is some endive in there, and usually tomato and cucumber) and tasty italian-leaning warm choices(stuffed shells, chicken parmigiana). The pizza offer is pretty cool, but it’s not as good as Rosella’s next door.

I had to downgrade my rating… This place still has an excellent value, and most things haven’t changed. The price went up to $ 3.75/lb for the breakfast, but hey, still super-cheap. However, I stopped going here as much, mostly because I haven’t had good bacon here in months… I’ve actually had bacon so bad I DIDN’T EATIT.(that’s a sin in my bacon-loving book.) — I think they fried it in bad oil — it smelled/tasted rancid(I actually had to spit out a piece that I tasted [against my better judgment, after smelling] — it was that bad)… that was just one morning… every other time it’s been tasteless or just. not GOOD like bacon should be. *sigh* disappointing. Of course, it’s still a SOLID3 stars — and I won’t stop going here… I just think twice about the bacon, which is one of my favorite parts of any meal.

really CHEAP buffet style food. Breakfast for 3.95 a pound with a free small coffee. Bacon, sausage, cream of wheat, eggs medium boiled or scrambled with cheese or with out, potatoes, french toast, and stuff. Pretty good but still buffet style so cafeteria food… lunch is same sort but the food is better quality. Staff is super nice and even when the coffee isnt free its only .75 for a small and 1.10 for a large! Perfect for the morning pick me up I need. Sooo why not more stars? Im a fan, but its ok!

Hungry. Lazy. Cold. A few mouse clicks later, and we had a Seamless web order in at Dante’s for delivery. An escape from an overwhelming amount of Chinese take-aways in the LES, Dante’s promised to serve up a tasty turkey burger, a sumptuous chicken parm sandwich and chicken soup for our lazy-ass souls. What arrived, was a soggy and tormented turkey burger, cold and mealy fries, a greasy chicken parm and a chicken soup saltier than the Dead sea. Sub-par food aside, we also received the most head-scratching cock-up i’ve ever seen in a take-out order… steamed broccoli that arrived… completely un-steamed. Yes, a few bits of raw broccoli, for $ 4.50. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot. After commiting sins of a one hour delivery time, ridiculously terrible food, and 7 layers of culinary Hell, this deli deserves to be in purgatory.
