Despite calling to check, the place is CLOSED. Note to restaurant, can you simply indicate that on your voicemail and/or website?

THERESTAURANTISCLOSEDDOWN! I showed up last night with a party of 9, made the reservations 2 weeks ago, got a confirmation from the restaurant 2 days before and then no one bothered to call me to say WEAREOUTOFBUSINESS!

Came here last night for a late dinner. Although company was great and décor was wonderful, my 12oz sirloin steak was a bit dry even when cooked medium rare. For that main reason, they get a three star. In addition to our steak, we also tried their cream spinach, roasted shishito peppers with lime and their japanese eggplant tempura. Although it was good, it wasn’t amazing and with all the fierce competition among steakhouses in New York, this one just didn’t make the cut. I’m not sure if I would come back here again but I guess if a friend is dying to try it out, I would return but definitely not by choice.

Less then what we were expecting in more ways than one. There are plenty of more amusing and satisfying steakhouses in Tribeca, for sure. Maybe people like the bar scene? I’m not sure.

I always enjoy my time at dylan prime. The food is always good and consistent. Service is good. Definitely a place to check out. I love that theres a separate bar from the dining area. It makes you feel like you’re at two different restaurants. Definitely try the wellington here!

Service at the restaurant was amazing — they attended to our every need quickly. The private room in the back for our party was also really nicely set up and cozy. The staff made sure all of our questions were answered and our wine glasses were always filled. The porterhouse for 2 was cooked to perfection and we devoured it quickly. Sides were not as memorable, but everything probably would have paled in comparison to the porterhouse. Delicious and would definitely check out again!

Very cool spot. Popped in for a late afternoon drink and ordered the Fritti Misti(calamari & shrimp) which was truly excellent. Service was very fast and friendly. While there isn’t much else around, this was a great find…

This is a review for the front bar only and does not represent the food. I went to Dylan’s with two friends a few weeks back. We had a round of beers that my friend paid in cash. He paid $ 40 and left the extra on the bar for a minute. The bartender snatched it up and put it in the tip jar. The amount was over $ 15! Even in NYC that is a HUGE tip for 3 beers. When confronted with this we were given attitude and told we could not have any more drinks. If this is how they treat there customers then they just lost a few.

This steak house is really fancy. The food is amazing and so is the soft lit atmosphere. You instantly feel trendy and chic oozing from every corner of this place. If you aren’t rich you’ll feel out of place here and the prices are intimidating. You’ll find yourself looking at the prices before scanning whether it’s something you’ll be able to order. That being said, Dylan Prime is fine dining at it’s best, but be prepared to pay the price. I’m talking, arm, leg and a pound of flesh. But hey, they seriously do not disappoint. Also, they have a very impressive wine menu. Even their most inexpensive wine, which is still not cheap, pairs nicely with the food. My biggest complaint is I ordered an appetizer that was to die for in terms of flavor and presentation. But the portion was literally, and I do mean quite literally two bites. Two of the most blissful bites ever, but two bites nevertheless served on a huge plate with lots special drizzle and a few sprigs of frisée and it was something in the ballpark of $ 30 for the plate. I wasn’t too pleased with that. While I personally won’t be returning, I highly recommend Dylan Prime if your pocket won’t feel as abused, battered and assaulted as mine did.

Stopped by the lounge first. Tall ceilings and well-lit, this place isn’t some grungy bar but instead a place you can grab a bite and seat with friends. Servings of food are small, but they do have the regular beers(like Bud Light) and more exotic ones, too. The appetizers we tried: — Oysters — sale $ 1 Eastern, $ 2 Western. The eastern oysters were massive and meaty and tasty. The western tasted a bit too much like garage water. meh… — Wings — sweet and spicy, and awfully small; but you can taste the brown sugar — Charred Octopus — Done well, but could’ve used a bit more olive oil or olives to spice it up a bit — Meatballs — the pesto on top doesn’t add enough flavor, but it is interesting — Shishito Peppers — needs more grilling, but spicy and not, all at once. A popular pick everywhere these days, it seems. — Potato Croquettes… well, I’m not enamored, but they were solid — Housemade falafel — tatziki sauce and a little sprig of green on top — Mini Beef Wellingtons — a hit with the table. Not as juicy as I though they’d be, but still the pastry was excellent — Charcuterie Plate — the meats nothing unusual, but the pickled veggies were a delight — Butternut squash risotto — risotto done very well, but the butternut was almost more like pumpkin. Overall the service was excellent even on the lounge side; the space allowed for much conversation. They’d just re-done this space, so it is nice and split. Just watch out at the entry — some uneven lit concrete outside and a slight elevation step to get in the door, easy to trip.

I went here for dinner last night and it was my first time back since they re-opened after the interior refresh. It doesn’t look much different and the menu seems more or less the same. I did notice a lot of charred /crispy vegetables on the sides menu, which seems to be the cool thing to do these days. I sat at the bar and started off with a cocktail. I chatted up the bartenders, who were friendly. I ordered the 8oz filet and charred broccolini. The steak was very good and I added some bearnaise sauce to the mix. The charred brocolini was really good as well. I washed it all down with a decent glass of cabernet. I built a good report with the bar staff and when the kitchen cooked an extra order of homemade buffalo wings by accident, they offered them to me. Although I had plenty of food, I appreciated the hospitality. Of course I ate a few wings, and they were very good, too. I am glad Dylan Prime is open again as it was always a favorite spot of mine to eat in the neighborhood.

Continuing my tour of NYC steakhouses, I went to Dylan Prime near my TriBeCa office for a lunch meeting. The out-of-the-way location offers high ceilings, lots of natural light through huge(open) windows, and almost every table is a booth, which is pretty cool! Though the restaurant wasn’t super crowded for lunch, this worked in our favor since we didn’t have to compete for service. Our waitress was awesome, offering recommendations for the raw bar oysters and cocktails/wine. We started with a dozen fresh oysters… super delicious with our prosecco and wine choices. Then for entrees, I opted for the Filet Mignon(perfectly cooked to order) and my colleague tried the Ribeye. We also got sides of Brussels Sprouts, French Fries and some Polenta… everything was presented beautifully and tasted great. The Truffle Butter for the steak was a highlight of the meal(and worth the small upcharge).

Back from a brief hiatus, the revamped Dylan gets 3 ½ stars. This TriBeCa mainstay hits the ground running with their oyster happy hour. The east coast selection is perfection here, priced at a buck a piece, it’s easy to go through 2 dozen. Not to be outdone, the brisket burger topped with fontina cheese is a must have. Top this off with a tequila old fashioned and you’ll have a great experience

I love Dylan Prime. I have dined at this restaurant a dozen times over the years and now with the new makeover I was so excited to return. I go often on business dinners with clients from out of town. This night was no exception. I was there with a business client from California. PROS — the place looks great! Modern, current without being too contrived or hip. Food was top notch. Not a bad item ordered on the menu. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and tasted great as well. The sides all excellent. CONS — in ordering wine by the glass the waitress told me of a special red wine they had. I ordered that and had two glasses throughout the dinner. Bills comes, wine was $ 25/glass?! No effing way, right?! Wrong. I was very upset that she never told me how much that wine was and she insisted it was correct after I questioned the itemized bill. I am from NYC and have never come across such an expensive wine by the glass and when I have I was told the price BEFORE ordering. Marea is good example of how this is done properly. My reply when asked why I wasn’t told the price of the wine was, «you never asked» Not cool and filled with attitude. I felt taken advantage of and it left a bitter taste in my mouth, so much so I am not sure I will return. That’s bad business. I don’t need to go back here again.

My husband and I ate here as part of a larger group. The bread delivered to the table was burnt and hard to pull apart. We both ordered salad as an appetizer. He ordered the mesclun salad and I got the charred romaine. Mine was delicious but very small. I wanted more. My husband’s salad was much larger and we needed to ask for more dressing. We both ordered the 8 oz. filet mignon. My husband ordered his meat medium and I ordered mine medium rare. We were accidentally given each other’s steak at first and I thought mine was a bit dry for medium rare but once we compared meats and switched off, we were both happy. The minimum cost of the steak is $ 28. This does not include a side which is $ 10. This does not even include sauces for the steak which are an additional $ 5. I think it is crazy to have to pay extra money for steak sauce. My husband ordered mashed potatoes as a side. He was happy with his potatoes. I ordered french fries. My fries were perfectly crispy but too salty and I covered the saltiness with the malt vinegar aioli. Our friends ordered dessert though we didn’t and they raved about them. I will say that the service was top notch. Our water glasses were constantly filled and the staff was extremely attentive and willing to make accommodations when asked.

all you can expect in a steakhouse in TriBeCa! My husband took me here for a surprise intimate bday dinner. Great location, off a cobblestone road in a quiet neighborhood. You walk in and it’s like the restaurant was split in two. To the right, is the«regular» restaurant more like Jekyll & Hyde-darker, décor was more chandeliery like, furniture was from a different time. Then, you look to the left which is the bar area-more modern, lotta wood accents, the floor to ceiling windows were open-nice breeze and they had an open floor plan. Very modern. So we opt to eat at the bar! Waitress was very attentive. Drinks took a few to make but of course it’s made with love(and so was the price $ 15 not surprised). We ordered the 28 day dry-aged ribeye-sides were brussel sprouts fried in bacon(best way to cook a green veggie!) which was divine and the mash potato with cheese which the consistency didn’t really tickle my pickle bc it reminded me of glue. Dip your spoon in there and it gets stuck and sticky all over. Wasn’t a fan. We killed the ribeye-devoured it. Cooked to perfection! All in all was a great dining experience. The best part was the bone marrow appetizer«surf & turf». Interesting spin on that app with fried crawfish toppings. Thumbs up!

Please note this is a review for my experience in 2012: In the words of the Godfather, I was given an offer I could not refuse… Came here through a Groupon deal that I had to just buy. Ordered their porterhouse steak, cream spinach(a must at all steakhouse), and their porkbelly tots that was recommended by the waiter. Steak came out perfectly cooked with a beautiful black crust on the outside, and still rare on the inside. Though it looked amazing, it did not taste like so. It lacked flavor and was a bit rough on the tongue. Their cream spinach on the other hand was very savory and delicious. My favorite was their potbelly tots that was both crispy on the outside, and soft on the insides. Overall a decent dinner and probably would not return without another Groupon deal. Enjoy!

I’ve only had drinks here but the soundtrack was so poorly executed I was tempted to just politely find a staff member and ask the year. Time travel is possible because I’ve found a tear in the space time continuum. Okay clearly I don’t know enough about science to make this legit but seriously? Update the music. This is unreal. Otherwise, the space was recently redesigned and seemingly thoughtfully so. The bourbon list was good. Oysters were present. A brisket burger that looked interesting, etc. But the jubilant chords of David grays«babylon» and an assortment of other forgotten 90s gems tailored to the post work citi back office crowd made me want to leave.

Things you should know before I start: 1. This used to be my favorite place to eat in New York, as I love meat. 2. I’m commenting on the NEW, reopened version of the same restaurant(it just reopened in December 2013). Okay. Basically? Everything blew. Almost completely new menu. The filet is obviously still amazing(and somehow cheaper now, and that fact is great on its own), but that is the only redeeming quality of the new incarnation. All those small details of what made it a good restaurant before? Gone. No more baby baked potatoes with little cubed bacon in a parmesan cream sauce. They still have a horseradish cream sauce on the menu as a sauce, but it’s EONS worse and tastes like *I* made it or something. What really made me mad? How do you fuck up FRIES? They tasted like reheated, old, tiny bags of trash. It was also a ghost town at a 7pm seating, which I thought was only because it’s just recently reopened. But man, though. Stay away. Just terrible.

Hubbs purchased a Living Social voucher and we made reservations to dine here the other night. Destinations like this make me love the dining voucher social sites. We would never have found this place, otherwise. I love the décor. It’s romantic and intimate, despite how large it is. They have an adjoining wine cellar that I wish I had in my home. The host was very accommodating and they have a coat check(EVERY restaurant should) so we weren’t bogged down with our outerwear. Our server was so sweet to us. She was so attentive and genuinely cared that we were enjoying our meal. We ordered our drinks and I had a Kettle One Dirty Martini which was one of the best martinis I have had in a while. Hubbs ordered the Skirt Steak with Chimichurri Sauce… SOGOOD! It was tasty and the side of potatoes it was accompanied by were creamy and smooth. I ordered the Yellowfin Tuna and when it came out, I was a bit surprised. The plate looked as though it was missing a component. I asked for Medium Rare and they pretty much cooked it to temp but it was so dry without a sauce or an infused oil on the plate to pair it with. Hindsight, I wish I ordered the Truffled Veggie Pot Pie(Next Time). We also ordered a couple of accessories along with our entrees. Hubbs got the BBQ Baked Beans(which contain pork) and I had the Truffled Lobster Mac & Cheese). I can’t tell you first hand about the beans but my husband loved them and ate every last one and as far as my mac & cheese, it was THEBEST lobster mac I have ever encountered. I was full but still ordered some dessert just so that I could really get an idea of whether or not I would want to return despite the tune I had. I ordered the White Chocolate Bread Pudding and it was paired with a scoop of ice cream. Very good. Topped it off with some cappuccino and we were on our way. I will definitely try Dylan’s again.
