Bought my watch online during the labor day sale and came to the store to get the time corrected and some links removed. The sales associate was very nice and helpful. She made sure to remove the same number of links from both sides so that the watch could sit evenly on my small wrist. She also informed me that I had an 11 year warranty on my watch in case of any mechanical failure. All I had to do was bring it in. Awesome! Even more awesome was that this was done for free!

Stopped in after work to pick up an anniversary gift for my boyfriend. He was in desperate need of a new wallet. I had browsed online at work and had figured out which one I wanted. However, as soon as I got to the store I was greeted by a friendly sales-person who assisted me in finding what I was looking for — which ended up not being what I picked online. The cashier was also very friendly. It was an in/out trip which is basically a perfect shopping experience if you ask me!

I don’t like Fossil Watches. I own Swatches. Reason: difficult to maintain. The first watch I bought was a Fossil with the moon phases on the face. It had a braided strap. I loved it. It finally needed a battery change… horrors, I had to send it back, no jeweler could manage it. This is now 2013. My son needed his Fossil watch, which is too little for him, to have the battery changed, and a different strap. Of course, you can’t easily do either. So, being in New York, we had to go to this store, which isn’t easy to find. Reason: a tiny white Fossil sign. I took the watch in, and they fixed the battery. I asked about straps or links. You have to call them. You can’t just buy a Fossil strap or extra links. Online it says it it takes a week or two. Fossils are the most difficult damn buggers to maintain. You’d think after 15 some years, they’d change this. I still think to purchase the exact metal link strap you have to send it in. That grates my nerves, Fossil. The guy at the store was fantastic, but if the watch was designed differently, I wouldn’t need to go online to get the rest. The store doesn’t carry the links. Hmm…5 stars for service, 2 stars for watch maintenance ease…3 stars for having to do extra, call them and request links for the band? It’d be hella easier if I just bought him a metal link Swatch. Still unhappy with Fossil, but the store is alright.

This location seems to have a good selection of watches and accessories(bags, sunglasses, small leather goods, etc) and lots of staff on hand, always helpful and friendly… but the product I went to buy didn’t come in any type of box or packaging. When I asked, I was told there was none. What??? Because of this, the leather was slightly scuffed and not new looking… of course it was the last one in stock too. The same day, they run out of certain bag sizes and tissue paper too, just my luck.

I went to this store twice, first to buy a watch and then to deal with a watch battery replacement less than 2 months after I bought the watch. The only reason they get 1 star is because the employees are nice, but really they’re only pushy sales people. Yes I found a watch I loved, but I didn’t need more than 1 and also the cleaning cloth that they claim is a must have for keeping the face like new. However this is where I dock them the rest of the stars… less than 2 months after I bought the watch, it stopped. I figured it might have been just the battery issue. I go into the store, and they were super nice in doing the watch battery replacement for free given when I bought the watch, however wasting 20 minutes of my time later, they come back to tell me they don’t have the proper equipment to replace the watch battery. They offered to let me «send off» the watch and wave all of the costs… with 2 other stores in less than 15 block radius, I think not. Then I went a day later to the 34th street location, and let me tell you, it was like night and day. At the 34th street location, they also agreed to do the watch battery for free. However this store at least had the honesty and intregrity to tell me that the times square location(where I bought the watch), sold me a BAD watch! They said even if I wanted to do a watch battery replacement on that watch, I never could because they messed up the screws on the watch. The 34th street location gave me a brand new watch to replace the defunct one, with no questions asked. Lesson learned, avoid the times square location at all costs, you want a friendly and honest sales staff, go to the 34th location.

Fossil has decent quality leather ware and hip military inspired watches. This location is a model Times Square retailer: open late, friendly helpful service without being pushy, clean store design and aesthetic layout.

Went to this store today to browse for a watch. A la the cult favorite animated show Animaniacs, it’s time for another Good Idea, Bad Idea. Good idea: Friendly employees Bad idea: Like, 20 friendly employees Good idea: Well-priced watches for the quality they are($ 65-$ 110 for most) Bad idea: $ 25 for each interchangeable plastic strap?! I know those cost 50 cents to make in some«developing» country Good idea: Central location in Times Square(SW corner of 48th and Broadway) Bad idea: Location means very little square footage, which means a cramped space to move around in Good idea: Stylish watches Bad idea: Stylish watches with rotating rims which have no function other than aesthetics, or with face and hand colors so similar that the time is unreadable Good idea: Generosity and patience with letting customers try on multiple watches Bad idea: All the counter surfaces are glass so I was terrified I would drop a watch on them by accident Good idea: Interchangeable straps on a lot of watches Bad idea: Some straps are too big for small wrists, and they won’t punch extra holes in the plastic bands in the store, which effectively adds another $ 10 to the watch price for going to a jeweler to do it. The tie score here should really give this place three stars, but since I’m probably going to end up buying a watch here, four stars it is. It’s an elegant store and the watches are gorgeous.
