I forgot to write about this place. I went there in Jan 2009. The bathroom which I hated(I took one star off), but they opened from 7am. Their lunch is super cheap as well. I recommend to get some dumplings to go. Can you complain anything for the price? Not really. However, I do not have any intentions to go back there anytime soon. One day, I just happened to be around the area early in the morning, and I had to find the place very quickly because it was so cold. Keep this place in your mind as a back-up.

Yep, it’s closed. Try Hua Dou instead on Bowery and Grand.

Very good place to get dumplings on the go. $ 2 gets you 8 of them. They also have a rice platter that you can take on the go. A choice of 3 entrees with rice and some soup for under $ 4. You can’t beat that!

This place used to be called Sun Dou… introduced to me by my xgf with a similar and equally irrelevant name. This is my routine… treat myself to a haircut from Cutting Edge on Hester. And then treat myself to a dumpling snack. They’re 3 for $ 1. And 8 for $ 2. Whaddabahgain. They are morsels of pork goodness with peas and carrots. There are all different types here too. FYI — It’s a dive. Don’t come here for ambiance. Don’t come here for fine dining. Don’t come here b/c it’s clean. And you’re probably safer eating outside next to all the trash bags. Do stop by to snack on some dumplings.

I got the fried dumplings and I thought they were delicious and cheap. It was also right next to our hotel which was pretty great. Tried nothing else so the review is based on their potstickers.

I read a great review of this place in EdibleManhattan, so one Saturday my roommates and I decided to make a Chinatown trip to try it out. We were really disappointed. The dumplings were cheap but NOT good. The soup dumplings had really thin skin, so when you picked them with your spoon it punctured them and all of the soup just spilled out into the basket they’re served in. I actually think most of them were punctured before we even touched them, they’re that fragile. The fried dumplings were kind of bland and unremarkable. The dishes didn’t have enough meat(especially for the price they charge), and were way too salty. At least my Ginger and Scallion Sliced Beef was. The Kung Po Chicken was meh. Go to Green Bo instead. Delicious dumplings, yummy dishes, and it’s right across the street from the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory.

As a broke college student, I used to walk down here and eat for 2 days for like $ 8. Loved ordering from the sidewalk and not being exactly sure what I’d end up with, but was always happy with whatever I got for whatever I paid.

I am not sure if this place is inconsistent, or if just certain items are good. I remember coming here like 2 years ago and buying a whole bag of their frozen dumplings and being very disappointed. Like seriously, the flavor was just not good. Tasted like it was mostly cabbage, and not much meat.(and I don’t think I got the frozen dumplings that had cabbage in them!) But going there last night, I was totally blow away by how good some of their dumplings tasted. The shrimp, chive and pork dumplings were ridiculously tasty and I am pretty sure are also laced with crack. But I’m fine with that as long as I get to have my dumpling fix every once in a while. The Peking duck ones were not as amazing and didn’t seem to have much duck in them. The buns, as many have said before are enormous, but the flavor is just alright. i think they sort of tasted the way that the frozen dumplings I got before were like… not enough flavor in general and too much cabbage. Also of note, the waiter(who I’m not sure is there all the time) is somewhat creepy but at the very least has no conception of personal space. About a minute after seating us, he asked us to order. Then when we asked him to give us a little more time he basically just hovered around us till we ordered. And then proceeded to hover around us while we ate. I mean, he wasn’t mean but he was definitely a little odd and maybe slightly socially awkward. After helping us take a picture, he proceeded to write down his e-mail, telephone number, ICQ #, and the website for the restaurant. I think I felt sort of bad for him and gave him a big tip but I probably just reinforced his slightly awkward behavior and he will now proceed to hover and be creepy to other patrons. Sorry everyone!

WOW! It’s amazing how 2 visits within the same month can have 2 opposite reviews. I came back here as per a friend’s recommendation… I just couldn’t believe how horrendous the last meal I had here was, so I just HAD to come back to see if they can redeem themselves. THEYDID. My mistake last time was getting«steamed» dumplings, which are thick-skinned. DONOTEVER get steamed dumplings there. Get the dumplings in soup or fried. The potstickers are great too. There’s something about their seasoning(MSG!!!). I thoroughly enjoyed my meal this time. Except for the peking duck dumplings. THEIRBUNSAREBIG. As big as yo mama’s face. Seriously.

The dumplings were yummm!(But, apparently, there is a difference between the thick-skin & thin-skin dumplings? That you can only distinguish if you are Chinese? Umm. I’m illiterate, hello!) Dumplings were very tasty, yummy in my tummy, wholesome goodness. The noodles… were good… but could easily be blown out of the water by anything my folks could come up with. The bun was HUGE… think of an eclipse shadowing the earth and you will know how I felt when I moved it towards my face. But, in terms of taste, can find better at home. So… that said, I prefer to eat at places that serve food that I can’t get at home. I mean, that’s the point of eating out right?(aside from me being lazy) So yes, come here for the dumplings. Roam around Chinatown for other goodies. Oh, and watch out for the waiter. He likes to give out his QQ, home page, webpage, mompage, to random customers. As well as tell you what you should order. And stare at you until you feel compelled to order. And ask you if you want a food. when you mention it… from across the room.

MMM this is my second favorite place to get dumplings. Theyre only a dollar, 8 – 10 of these could fill you up fast. So juicy and moist and delicious. I once decided to try their bing filled with vermicelli and egg and chives. It was weird tasting so go here for dumplings and dumplings only. They also sell the frozen.

This is a very hard review to write. This place used to be 5 stars all the way, hands down. I would buy frozen dumplings and marvel at the insanely large selection. The Won Ton soup is the best I’VEEVERHAD. Under $ 5 buck and it’s so big, you’ll be eating it for at least 15 minutes. Good Dumpling House is the one place that I gladly took people to as part of the«Willis Worships Chinatown Tour» to have a nice, cheap meal. So why??? Why the fuck am I giving Good Dumpling only one star? Do you REALLY want to know? Saturday, Summer 2007 — Me, my wife, my friend Donny and his girlfriend Jessie hit up Chinatown. It’s going good. We’re having a ball, buying off the wall things, enjoying the atmosphere and I’m doing my tourist«thang», right? Donny wants real NY pizza from Little Italy. He’s never had bad-ass real NY pizza and he wants a hot slice ASAP. I work my Ari Gold magic and convince this man dying for NY pizza in LITTLEITALY to try out Good Dumpling. Pulling that move was not an easy task, but we walk in, sit down(it’s hot as fuck, no lie) and no more than 19 seconds pass by and a roach walks across the length of the table. We all look at it. We all look at each other. Not a word passes. We get up. We walk out. I haven’t been there since and I adored that spot. Been there countless times and that roach sank my battleship. Beyond speechless. Beyond embarrassing.

The dumplings are great here ! It’s a bit oily, but the taste is sealed inside. The dumpling skin is thin unlike many other places that makes dumplings. There’s a large variety of fillings if you purchase a whole bunch of frozen ones. There’s also buns! Mini to large buns. They’re so cute to look at !(: I’ve tried the fried rice and it’s good. It all tastes the same to me though. I’m not very picky about Chinese food… But yeah, it’s a good price. Ordering from the«take out» part is annoying though. The people tend to just skip and order… But if you sit down, it’s better.

I actually really like this place, even the food aside from the dumplings. Service is really polite, too, for Chinatown and is a nice refuge from the«handbag» ladies. It also isn’t touristy in the least, which is a nice feeling.

I haven’t actually had their dumplings yet but I have ordered their pork buns and they are very good. I have also ordered their beef chow fun and I thought they gave me the wrong order because I received the beef(which I thought was soup but was actually very tender beef with veggies and a thick sauce) separate from the chow fun. Overall, it was delicious and I think I prefer it this way now. I plan on going back to try out their sticky rice. My only complaint is that they take a little long for them to make their food for take out but it was worth it. The people are friendly but some don’t speak English very well, however, if you point out what you want in their menu, they know exactly what to make you so it’s all good.

I was very disappointed. There are much better dumpling houses in Chinatown! I think the food in the take-out window might be better than the sit down food. The dumplings that we ordered seemed watery and lacked flavor. Also, I know not to expect much in ambiance with Chinatown restaurants, but this place felt pretty dirty. I could care less that they’re using Lee Kum Kee advertisement posters as decoration, but vinegar and hot sauce rings on a table surface need to be wiped up before we sit down.

Four addictive dumplings for a buck. Five Stars. The rest is gravy. If you ever find yourself in this area, ever find yourself on a budget(20 dumplings for 5 bucks), ever find yourself craving dumplings/munchies/finger-food, you can’t go wrong with this place. Beyond the great price, the dumplings are some of the best I’ve ever had. My favorites are the pan-fried dumplings. With regards to pan-fried dumplings, these are the best pan-fried dumplings I’ve ever had(sorry mom, yours are good, these are Great :(. It’s thin-doughed(less dough = more filling :) pan-fried dumplings that come in several varieties(chives, and cabbage are my favorites). They both have winning character. Can’t go wrong with either one.

The dumplings are good and they have other Chinese«small eats». But they also have a sizable menu, with lots of entrees, soups, congee, etc. I stuck with the dumplings. And they have a good variety of them, especially the regular non-fried boiled ones. The different fillings include shrimp, mushrooms, chives, cabbages, etc. Unlike many other dumpling shops, they’re more than a hole in the wall(not there’s anything wrong with that) and have decent seating.

I have eatin many dumplings in my life some might say I’m an authority of dumplings so when I found Good Dumpling House located on Grand and Elizabeth Street in Chinatown I was delighted. They sever you 8 slick griddled dumplings for $ 2, not like most dumplings house these have more of a glossy texture rather then the doughy kind most are used to in the NYC. The little jewels are juicy with pork meat and possibly green onions, however seems impossible to see other ingredients besides the pork. One can eat in or order to go at the little window designated for those on the go or just looking for some snack, the only downside is they are a little rude and may not be so welcoming to English speakers, I assume most are Cantonese/Mandarin speaking clientele.
