Great spot with great coffee but bad service. Unapologetically he didn’t give me change. Just a small and tiny issue that could result in grumpy morning coffee lovers deserting the café forever. I won’t be going back even though I LOVED the feature coffee. Service is that important to me.

I came here before a job interview. The space is nice, tall ceiling, stairs to go up to get to the counter. Cute and big COFFEE sign in lights right when you walk in. The woman ringing me up was friendly. She offered me a stamp card which was nice. I didn’t get food this time but I got my standard chai. It wasn’t bad. I stayed and sat for awhile. I’m not sure if they have wi-fi as I used my own personal hotspot since I didn’t see theirs. There was a line so I didn’t feel like going up and asking. Seems like a popular spot for local businessmen/women. I would come here again if I was in the area!

The staff– patient, kind, and eager to please. Atmosphere– it has the old-school coffee shop vibe with a little injection of hipster; a great balance. It’s a great spot just off Union square. Coffee– all milk varieties offered and at the bar so you don’t have to ask the barista. I love that they have decaf iced coffee(not iced decaf Americano), which was a nice surprise. The coffee was great. Food– snacks/sweets offered, gluten-free options a plenty.

Joe IS the best coffee in all of New York City. I go through punch cards(getting that 11th large iced almond mocha free, holla) like it’s my job.

Joe Coffee is my go-to spot for chai lattes and hot chocolates whenever I’m in the area. They sell the always amazing Dough doughnuts, the staff members are friendly, and there are some adorable-looking illustrations by their co-barista and artist, Charrow. At times, it can get muggy inside on very humid days since there are no windows in this space, and there aren’t very many outlets to do work and such, so it’s a nice place to read and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea, or to chat with friends. Also, the small yet well-maintained restroom is a plus!

No wifi. Coffee is fine, but I showed up with my laptop to do work, bought a 3 dollar coffee, and then had to leave and go to a different coffee shop where I’d actually be able to get things done. Unfortunate.

Walking miles and miles in NY for my first visit to the city ever means that I need lots of coffee to fuel me through the day. Enter Joe Coffee. Baristas were friendly and patient. Nearly always, I tell myself I will try something different but then end up ordering a cappuccino. Such was the case here. My boyfriend opted for a large iced latte. Cappuccino was standard, smooth, but nothing spectacular. The iced latte is a bit bland by itself, but a little simple syrup does magical wonders. The concept and the space is quite hip and cozy, maybe too cozy for some. The little coffee shop was constantly pullulating with patrons and there were not many seating options. All in all, you’re alright Joe. I’m constantly on the lookout for new coffee spots to try and as a newbie to the city, I likely won’t return unless I’m in the neighborhood hankering for some joe.

Good coffee, interesting selection of(vegan!) baked goods, chronic shortage of seating. Not the best place for coffee, but it’s still pretty solid. It tends to be crowded all the time, so good luck trying to sit here to get some work done.

Very smooth and rich coffee. One of my favorites in NYC. Not my #1 but doesn’t disappoint. I don’t really explore coffee menus, I usually just go for the regular hot or iced coffee. It’s a bit more pricey than your average café, but you’re getting better quality so I’d say its worth it

The coffee here is good, the pastries here are all vegan and relatively good, but the baristas aren’t the nicest here, usually self absorbed talking amongst themselves and never really taking my order. This place is always full to capacity, and granted its a small shop, but when the baristas glaze over you like you aren’t really there, well it doesn’t exactly make for a good experience. I do enjoy their coffee and their proximity to campus is a plus, but out of all the coffee shops that I frequent around the city and campus, I have to say that Joe’s is cleanly at the bottom of my list, strictly because of the customer service and the fact that their servers are just so ambivalent to their customers.

Good coffee. They offer almond and soy milk as non-dairy alternatives. Cute space but not too many chairs/tables(which makes it better as it’s never too busy).

I came in after having food across the street for lunch. I really like the menu they use. It’s like a giant chalkboard and it is very well organized. When I go to coffee shops I usually always get ice americano or cortado. I opted the cortado today. It was 3.75 which is a fair price. When I got the cortado, I took a sip and realized that it wasn’t as hot as I like my coffee to be. I mean surely the art on it was nice but it just wasn’t hot enough. I was able to drink it down in one go. Flavor wise, I did like it. I’m not sure if the shot that was pulled sat there for too long or if they barista didn’t steam the milk to the correct temperature but the texture on my tongue was fine. I’m going to come back and try them again when I’m in the area. I hope to get a hotter drink.

Great ambiance, friendly & knowledgable baristas, quick service and delicious coffee. I wasn’t sure what to get so Erina the barista recommended a cold brew latte made with almond milk. SOGOOD! Next time you’re in Union Square, skip the overcrowded Starbucks and head to 13th street to get some Joe.

Expensive coffee! I got a 20 ounce decaf iced skim latté for $ 5.00. And they’ll be raising their prices in the middle of August! Ridiculous. Coffee is getting expensive everywhere, including at Starbucks. Service is pretty good. The guy asked me about my shirt and we chatted about it. They don’t have a whole lot of seating inside but it’s enough for eight or ten. So it’s not standing-room only but it’s not spacious like a Starbucks where you’d go to work. I went to drink outside in the parklet in front of the New School, which was much quieter and less claustrophobic, and had open seating.

Sometimes it’s hard to find a good café in this area, but Joe’s is probably the best you can do. It’s spacious, with high ceilings and tables that aren’t too close together. My only complaint is that it doesn’t feel like a café, more of a grab and go place. The chai is like any other chai. The cold brew latte is gimmicky and doesn’t taste right. Just don’t do it.

Inspired by Buddy… we set out to find the best espresso in Manhattan. At least 2 coffee places a day for the 9 days we were in the city. We were on a leisurely walk killing some time before our next tourist trap and took a recommendation from another coffee shop on the other side of town. We hustled in and they made our coffee and we drank our coffee and my daughter drank her hot chocolate… but we weren’t dazzled or swayed. It was solid«Joe» and we went on… down the street… like it almost never happened…

Joe’s Coffee NY Manhattan Union Square 1pm Thursday 21st May 2015 Four Stars By the previous reviews on Unilocal,I imagined this coffee shop as small. However it’s pretty spacious. Seating as follows: a No Smoking bench outside, a dinner table with four chairs, 2 two-tops, and bar with 2 stools upon entry. Then there were two tables and another bar bench combo in the back. The weather cooled off so I went with something warm. I have been opting for the smaller Cortado instead of the 6 – 8 oz Cappuccino. I got to stay with their very last chocolate croissant. The coffee was expertly made. The espresso was rich, tangy, and had enough bitterness to balance the sweet and silky foam. Plus a nice heart design to boot. A diary design is not indicative of a good cup of coffee but chances are that if you can make latte art then you have the ability to use an espresso machine as well. The pastry was phenomenal. An extra flaky crust with the over-buttery layers on inside complemented the semi-sweet dark chocolate filling.

Joe is a relatively ubiquitous face in New York City these days and for good reason — it’s a quality cup of coffee. This particular location is one of their newer outposts and it’s located in a pretty high traffic area(NYU, New School, etc…). I dreaded going in there for the longest time because the line was almost out the door, but when I learned of their express line between 8:00 — 10:00am for folks just looking for a cup of coffee and paying with cash, it was a game changer. Even though the line might be 20 deep at the main register, just scoot off to the left, break out $ 3, then grab your coffee and get the hell out. It’s awesome. Now the big decision is what to do with the newfound time you just saved yourself — I suggest diving into this Buzzfeed post about 29 cats who don’t think they’re cats
