Basic Japanese restaurant but the sushi was delicious. I’d definitely recommend a visit for really fresh sushi. My friend had the salmon teriyaki which she also really enjoyed.

We have lived nearby for years and had order delivered from here for first time last night. The sushi was the worst we have ever had. Literally NOTASTE. The tatsuga age tasted like fried chicken skin. The edamame was stale and soggy. We ordered a large variety of appetizers to test the kitchen and not one would be recommendable. I wish I could have my $ refunded!

Terrible sushi. The fish was not fresh and it was stale. The fish had a bad fish smell and made me nauseated afterwards. Avoid.

Fish is not that fresh anymore. Staff is still very friendly however, that’s not enough for a sushi restaurant and we live very close by and don’t go anymore. Especially since we found Poke just up the block.

Nothing special, I’m not sure where the multiple Zagats ratings stem from! There are better places in the area to go to.

I frequently go to sushi restaurants all over the country. Someone recommended Ko to me so I tried it. Their sushi was dry and the fish was putrid. The miso soup had no flavor. It was basically water with seaweed and tofu floating in it. Very disappointed. Called for a refund and told the manager about my experience and he never once said«I am sorry.»

Sushi taste left a bitter sour taste, not sure about quality of rice but I’ve been to much more decent places than this. Showed up just before 10ish & they close at 11PM; they refused to sit me saying there closing early so I couldn’t enjoy a sit down mean, so I got my order to go. Sushi size was just too small also for it’s price. I am sure other items on the menu are good but sushi quality had me disappointed.

we had been here for dinner before, and loved it — tonight we took a chance on delivery — and it was outstanding! Fresh, hot, and perfectly packaged. I’m impressed!(and for some reason, they have the best ginger salad dressing — love it!) Next time we try lobster there!

They have an error on the menu… masaga. What the h is masaga? Confused, I googled it on my phone. Masaga is a rugby player from New Zealand. Why would my sushi contain masaga? I asked the waiter to clarify and apparently they meant. tobiko(flying fish roe). They specialize in lots of fake rolls here too. I had the sushi platter for $ 15 which came with miso soup. It was ok, not amazing.

In my continued quest to find the best sushi lunch spot on the UES, I tried Ko Sushi today, hoping for good. I got less than average, unfortunately. Lunch comes w/salad and miso soup, which is good and standard. My order arrived quickly. Also good. Now to the bad: 1. Iceberg lettuce… really? There’s just no excuse for using that. Romaine, spinach. anything but iceberg! One half slice of tomato and literally one slice of cucumber. Sad, sad salad. 2. I got spicy tuna and salmon avocado rolls w/brown rice, my usuals for lunch. Super thin slices of salmon and avocado. I just have never seen a restaurant skimping this much on LUNCH rolls. Brown rice — totally unseasoned. Spicy tuna — I don’t even taste anything when I put it in my mouth. All I taste is rice and seaweed. Also sadness. You need to try better, Ko Sushi. There are tons of other sushi spots on the UES and you’ll need to up your quality to stay in business.

The sushi was decent. Not enough substantial fish! Their special-Maki rolls were the same size as the regular rolls. So it wasn’t worth the price. Paying $ 13 for the say amount of fish and ingredients as a $ 5 roll. They def. didn’t overcompensate with too much rice. I ate 3 rolls on my own and could have eaten more… that says it all right there. Mango avocado roll was worth the $ 5. Black Dragon roll was good– decent amount of roe. But tooo SMALL Forget the third roll I got. The taste was unimpressive and so was the size. Not work the $ 31 my personal meal cost…

Super fast delivery! I ordered the 2 maki roll special: spicy salmon and tuna cucumber. The tuna was juicy and the spicy salmon was delicious. Great simple rolls and more fish than rice! Don’t bother getting the shrimp&vegetable tempura, unless you like you like your shrimps breaded(weird, I know.) there’s definitely better tempura in this city. Points off for one of the cherry tomatoes in my salad going bad. Mold was oozing out of it, although the lettuce looked clean and fresh.

Do not go here unless you like to throw away money. I just paid $ 18 for two small pieces of salmon with teriyaki sauce, maybe 3oz total after I took the skin off and 2 pieces of broccoli. Yes, literally two pieces.

First off, KO holds a some sentimental value for me since it was where my gf and I had our first date 2+ years ago. But don’t come to KO expecting to be blown away by awe inspiring, state or the art Japanese cuisine. They more or less have your typical appetizers and a pretty solid selection of sushi, sashami and other prepared entrees. They even have a few hibachi dishes which I tried a year or so ago and was pretty tasty. I really don’t get these reviews saying KO’s fish isn’t fresh? I think all their fish is fresh and tasty as could be. I never had a problem with it and always left satisfied. Again, if you’re looking for some cutting edge, culinary sushi/sashimi creation — try sushisamba or one of those type of places. I feel like it never gets packed in here so service has always been great. Their cold sake is great with sushi and sashimi and at $ 10/bottle is a good value I feel. The pork wasabi steamed dumplings and the tuna tataki were big hits with my girlfriend and I last time we came. Plus, KO is a good date spot; as previously mentioned, it’s never really packed, it’s intimate and dimly lit. Although I’m not on the UES as often as I use to be. I’ll continue to come to KO for a solid Japanese dinner every so often.

Went to ko sushi because my boyfriend is a veggie but I was craving chicken katsudon and this was the only place that I could find with sushi AND chicken katsu don. We were going to go to the one on 70th and second(with better reviews) when he told me that there was another on 87th and York. Checked the menu on menupages just to make sure they had both and saw that the chicken katsu don was less expensive at this location than the one further downtown. My boyfriend will eat anything and not care how it tastes and he said his sushi was good. My chicken katsu don was nothing to write home about but what REALLY pissed me off was that menupages had listed the price as $ 8.95 but it was actually $ 11.95. Had I known, I probably would’ve forsaked my stubbornness and just gone for another cuisine. Won’t be returning back here; I’ve found cheaper and better chicken katsu don elsewhere.

TAKEOUTREVIEW We ordered take from here last night and I was very pleased. I usually try to steer clear of sushi take out but this did not disappoint. And when it says on their menu fast delivery, they mean fast! Within at least 20 minutes after ordering our food, it was delivered! Which was key because I was hungry. We ordered a few rolls: Dragon Roll broiled eel and sliced cucumber wrapped in rice with avocado and masago outside $ 14.95 Naruto tuna with crabmeat, avocado and masago wrapped in slices of cucumber. no rice $ 10.95 This was the roll that I ordered and was so pleased with it. It was light but it able to fill you up Spicy tuna, Salmon Skin Roll($ 4.75) and Cucumber — Avacado roll($ 3.75). Total was $ 43 bucks(50ish after a tip) which I dont think is too bad for that amount of sushi and having two special rolls. Just looked at their menu on Menupages and the prices aren’t up to date so keep that in mind. Their lunch special looks pretty decent as well. Fresh sushi, delivered fast, cant go wrong there!

The other evening, I was really hoping for Gajyumaru, but it was cold outside, and KO won for proximity’s sake. One of the most off-putting aspects of KO Sushi was our waitress. She smiled and wasn’t nasty to us at all; however, no matter what she set down on our table – sake, big dishes, small dishes – she almost slammed them down. KO Sushi waitress, were you physically weak or just passive-aggressive? I ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer, and I can’t complain about that. The shrimp was fresh, and while the batter wasn’t «melt in your mouth tempura batter,» it was good enough that I cleaned my plate. The salad that came with my friend’s chicken teriyaki wasn’t so hot. It was the generic iceberg lettuce salad with orange/ginger dressing, but the was way too much orange in the dressing. We’re talking Tropicana on lettuce. The chicken teriyaki was fine and not fabulous, but there weren’t any specific issues with it. I think another Unilocaler’s post about KO having«standard utility sushi» was completely accurate. The salmon roll was fresh enough, but tiny, and the seaweed was a little too metallic tasting for me, while the spicy tuna roll was overwhelmed by the«spicy» sauce. The two stars I was going to give KO Sushi went up to three based solely on the fact that we were served giant diced chunks of delicious pineapple as a dessert/palate cleanser/end of meal freebie. The pineapple was probably my favorite part of dinner, though, and as a sushi place, that shouldn’t be your claim to fame.

Is Ko the greatest sushi place in the city? Nope. It is pretty decent, tasty, fresh and has mastered the art of fast delivery? You bettcha. I live right near this place, and I have ordered delivery numerous times as well as ventured in more than once to sit down for dinner. The fish is fresh and clean, which is more than I can say for most places, and their bento boxes are perfectly paired and rather filling with all the right pieces to make it a great meal, and it’s inexpensive to boot, making me a happy girl. Basically, this place is standard utility sushi. If you want an amazing night out, with sushi that melts in your mouth, go elsewhere. I mean really, it’s always the same old saying, you get what you pay for. For their prices, Ko is more than generous in the fresh fish department, they have crisp fresh salads with standard ginger dressing, a good miso soup(has anyone ever had bad miso soup?), the chicken teriyaki is more than passable and I have ordered the tempura on more than one occasion even though it leans to the mediocre side of things(read: not crispy enough). It’s a great little neighborhood joint and I am happy it is so far east to make it convenient for us East Yorkville folks. Thanks, Ko, for letting me be lazy once again and not make much of an effort to go out to eat!

Short, sweet, and to the point: 1) Red Dragon roll — good(I’m a sucker for soft shell crab) 2) Uni — ok, not great(excellent uni not only melts in your mouth, but has a slightly sweet taste — lacking here) 3) scallop — I liked it, despite the waitress’s attempt to denigrate it as «frozen» while trying to up-sell the live scallop special(5x the price),(boy, is she in for a suprise when she learns of that a majority of sushi-grade tuna is beet red only because of a carbon monoxide infusion!) 4) yellowtail — borderline(the dab of wasabi helped, but more fishy than I would’ve liked) 5) bonus: free ice cream /canned lychees Overall, an average sushi joint.
