A cockroach crawled from under the plate of my friend. We asked to see the manager and refuse to paid. The manager wouldn’t come out to see us but told the waiter to tell us that he would give us 15% off! We then flipped out and said we would tell everyone in the restaurant what just happened. The manager still wouldn’t come to see us and told the waiter to tell the bouncer to let us leave.

Kumo Sushi 2141st Avenue, New York, NY10009 Christina Bashen The most horrible service I have ever had experienced in all of my years of ordering food! I used Seemless to place my order and I was sent an order confirmation. Waiting and waiting, and finally I call them just to be told by someone who barely speaks English that the delivery man could not be contacted, was MIA and my order had to be remade! Now, I have to wait another half hour for food… I am livid!!! I will NEVER order from here again!!! This place gets not one star from me. They didn’t even offer a free meal, or something, to compensate for their screw-up.

After walking around a bit we came across this place & decide to give it a try. To start we got some Kirin beer, good beer nice & cold. Appetizers got the Rock shrimp tempura, good shrimp light sauce on it not bad. Also got the Black Dragon roll this is Deep fried crab meat, avocado & cucumber topped with eel & tobiko very good roll, nice taste. Main dishes I went with the Chicken tempura this comes with some tempura veggies, sweet potatoes, broccoli & white rice. Chicken tempura was good, good tasting chicken dipped in the sauce not bad. Good broccoli & sweet potato although the sweet potato was a bit greasy. My company had the Chicken teriyaki comes veggies & white rice. Good chicken, nice tasting teriyaki sauce .good veggies as well. With both dishes u get a decent portion I’d say enough to share depending on your appetizer intake. As for the restaurant, small simple décor, good music playing. Service was good, prices are reasonable for a last minute find this place turned out to be good we enjoyed our meal.

A group and I went here for my boyfriends birthday. We called days in advance to make a reservation and when we got there, they said our name was not on the list. This was also the case for another group of people waiting who also had a reservation. Very disappointing and unacceptable.

Came here with friends who got AYCE sushi. I ordered two rolls. I saw a black dot in my roll, picked at it, and out popped two very long, fine black pieces of hair. I’m a blonde– they were definitely not mine. I told my waiter, who seemed not to care. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt of language barrier, but she definitely saw the hair on my tray. The restaurant did not offer to refund, claiming that I had already eaten some of it(of course I did, before discovering your DNA in my food). When I pushed this, a different waiter argued they also could not refund because«the manager would take it out of our checks directly.» I asked for a the manager, who was of course«not on duty.» Apparently my only option was to pay… which I did, because I was with friends and too embarrassed to make this an even bigger deal… sigh. My friends and I did receive free dessert from the staff as a peace offering. Nice gesture, but we already had dessert plans and to be honest it wasn’t very tasty. The whole situation dampened our night.

I went here one night after work with a sushi craving. Unlike some other near sushi places that were packed, my boyfriend and I were seated right away. The best part about Hana Sushi is the service. We were immediately greeted by our waiter who promptly gave us some hand wipes to clean our hands. Throughout the night our waiter stood back and waited for our signals of needing assistance.

There are better AYCE sushi in the city– this one is just not as crowded so it’s easier to get spots if you don’t make reservations. They do take reservations though. You pick what you want from the menu and they bring each person their own plate of what they ordered– I found this diff from other places where everything is just shared and they combine all your sushi to like family style. Limited selection– I got the salmon hand rolls and they were loaded with salmon– not the best quality but ok for the price. Don’t get the spicy salmon– no bueno. The other rolls were okay– nothing really stood out. Miso soup and avocado salad were average. They automatically added the tip –18%. It was about 38 a person– no drinks included. I did see an option for all u can drink but it said only 3 drinks… most other places have just unlimited– not sure if it just said 3 and it was really unlimited– might want to ask if you’re looking into this. If you are really craving sushi and cannot find a place that isn’t packed or if there are long lines elsewhere then this place is for you.

Kumo presents you the sushi version of a frat house in east village. You come here to get wasted, pound some sushi, and leave happy and bloated/borderline puking status? If you catch kumo on a weekend night, it is by far one of the rowdiest spots to start a night. The scene is absolute chaos — the decibel levels feel like they’re approaching concert esq — messy sake bombs wash the night away into oblivion. These aren’t the best rolls you’ll find in nyc but they help to wash down the sake/beer. Do not order the philadelphia roll — it’s disgusting. Overall the place feels slightly over-priced at about $ 40 for all you can eat/drink for 2 hours but probably pretty close to where it should be. Beware: the waiters and waitresses are super jaded and don’t offer much sympathy for any of your spilled sake/beer but who can blame them? they’ve got to put up with 100 screaming shouting guests every evening…

A group of friends and I have been to Kumo twice after a great sushi-sake place closed down and another had a terrible atmosphere and was dead silent. The first time we went we had a great time: around $ 40 for unlimited sushi, sake and beer! The place was very energetic and had a fun atmosphere. The sushi was pretty good… can’t complain. We didn’t expect top-quality food so that was fine. The service was fine as well. My issue is from when we recently went for a second time. We got a table in the very back-most corner of the restaurant — ok I understand if the seating isn’t our top pick, whatever — but they try to cram a ton of people back there and it just didn’t work. They also changed their pricing/deal this time around — we had to each pay an additional $ 7 for the«unlimited» drinks part of it. Yes we chose to pay, but why wouldn’t we if we came to do that and didn’t want only 3 drinks as part of this«deal?» I just thought that this extra charge was strange and unfortunate. I also won’t give them more than 2 stars because of how they didn’t really handle the noise. I OFCOURSE expected the place to be super-loud because it’s full of drunk college students, but I think everyone can only tolerate screaming to a certain extent. A table behind us had close to 10 guys SCREAMINGATTHETOPOFTHEIRLUNGS the entire time we were there, much to the constant staring and«hey shut up!» from other tables!!! I really wish the waitresses and waiters at this place could have at least said«you’re getting a little TOO loud, please just keep it down a bit.» They didn’t at all and as the night went on my friends finally admitted that they were EXTREMELY too loud. We all left slightly deaf in my opinion. I’d give Kumo a higher rating if they tried to limit how out of control some people get and if they didn’t add $ 7 onto an already $ 40 price.

This place is ok. I’d give it 2.5 out of 4 but not 3 out of 4 so i stuck with two. The place is kind of older and plasticky feeling. Its got heinous red leather booths. We came on cinco de mayo to avoid the crowds. It pretty much seems like this place was designed specifically for the all you can eat/drink crowd. I never even saw a regular menu. All you can eat/drink was $ 37 per head. All you can eat without alc is $ 28. We were a group of 5 and our order was taken immediately. Pretty good selection of rolls, hand rolls, and about 25 specialty rolls. Nothing too fancy but still legit selection. We ordered a variation of rolls and sashimi and whatnot. They immediately brought us a pitcher of peer and a equally sized pitcher of sake. Pitchers of sake usually mean crappy sake to me but whatever i wasn’t there to be picky. The rolls cane out in like 10 – 15 min. Pretty quickly. Everything was good. Not great but definitely sufficient and better than I’ve had at some other all you can joints. We had 2 he’s to eat and drink. We ordered 2 or three rounds of drinks and food. The place got a little rowdy later on bit it wasn’t anything we couldn’t handle. Overall the meal cost $ 47 per head tax and tip included. I’d go back again with friends for the all you can aspect. Def not for just sushi. But for sushi and drinking its a pretty good choice. Side note they don’t accept amex.

I went to Kumo sushi and ordered the shrimp shumai, edamame, and vegetable teriyaki. I found curly hairs in both the edamame and the vegetable teriyaki and left a lot as I wasn’t sure how many other hairs I would find. I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to a Japanese meal in the area. In addition, they only took off money for the edamame, which is not expensive. I posted two pics in which you can actually see the hairs. There are so many Japanese places to go to, leave this one out!!! Mediocre food at best. Food taste deserves a two star rating. If you’re looking for high quality, classic sushi, this place is not for you. If you’re looking for a serene atmosphere, don’t even walk down this block. If you’re looking to stuff your face and do some stupid stuff, settle in, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride. Kumo is the college experience I never had. It loud, and wet, and rowdy, and kind of disgusting. It’s also a hell of a good time if you’re willing to just let it crash over you like a wave. It’s all you can eat rolls, all you can drink beer, and sake that you’re permitted to allow to crash into your glass with a clatter, a pound, and a shout. The rolls are totally passable, and you’ll find yourself stuffed by the end. If you’re an adult(like me) get a reservation for right when they open(the whole place will be less sticky) and ask for a booth in the front. They keep the real animals(aka NYU students) in the horrifyingly well-lit room in the back, which gets real gnarly, real quick.

Went here for all you can eat sushi & left absolutely stuffed. It’s a bit pricey & you are restricted to exactly two hours but you will not leave hungry. Unfortunately, you must pay for the uneaten rolls… So beware of over ordering. Service was poor and it was packed by 6. Easy to see why this place does well. I only had tuna rolls but it was very good!

This place is more like a rowdy bar than a restaurant. For the price of $ 48, you get 2 hours of all you can eat sushi with salads and miso soup and all you can drink– either wine, or beer, or sake(they don’t really like for you to mix and match). The waitresses are overwhelmed and not super attentive. I felt like I was burdening them for asking if we could order. The quality of the sushi is better than I was expecting, so I will give them that. They allow you to order specialty rolls, however they ask that you limit your order to 2 specialty rolls. There is a doorman that checks your ID at the door, so don’t be alarmed! I would come back for the deal and quality, but the ambiance deters me.

We came here on a Friday night with a 9:30 reservation. We were seated about 20 minutes after we arrived. Service was rude from the start and incredibly slow. We did all we can eat and all you can drink sake. It was $ 47 per person with tax and gratuity. Once we paid, we noticed that the server would not bring us beer and sake until we finished even though we had 30 – 45 minutes left. We even knocked over a glass and it broke and they charged us $ 2. Someone in my party also knocked over a dish of sushi and the one of the rudest staff members called security on our whole group and pulled a chair in front of us so we couldn’t leave. I can’t believe how they treated paying customers and don’t recommend that anyone goes here. There are other all you can eat/drink places in the city such as ayisha and yno one should go here.

Finally, an AYCE/AYCD spot that satisfies in both ways. Lots of food and lots of beer/sake. We had a reservation for 20 and took a little while for us to get seated, which is understandable for a big crowd in a busy restaurant. First thing I noticed was how loud it was. That was also expected as people are getting riled up with tons of beer and sake. Two things I did not expect: They made us pay ahead of time(as we were seated) which was odd, because the tip was included. What if your service wasn’t worth 18%? It seemed a little fishy… ;) The other thing i didn’t expect was the quality/quantity of the sushi. It was actually pretty good. From my past experience, at almost every ayce sushi places, I’ve been extremely disappointed with the quality and/or amount of sushi on my plate. This place had decent, fresh fish and had a good rice/fish ratio. It was bearable! That being said, the service ended up being adequate and we all left with full bellies and boozy minds. First place I’ve been that had both beer and sake in pitchers, which saved us and them a ton of time, instead of ordering sake over and over. 47 dollars well spent, will return when the mood strikes.

You come here to get drunk. You don’t come here because it’s the best sushi ever. For $ 47 dollars, you and 40 of your closest friends can eat unlimited sushi and sake bomb all night. Recommendation: — Come hungry — Come with your drinking shoes

I went to Kumo Sushi with a large group and one thing I do not like about this place is how they demand that you may upfront with the tip included, if you are getting unlimited sushi/drinks. As customers, we are paying for a service, I automatically felt that once we paid the servers would not care. Well, I was absolutely right because the unlimited sushi became limited after the server did not return to take orders after the first round, unless you chased and flagged her down. Aside from that, it was a great night full of sake bombs, and aside from the service you can make the best of out of the place with a large group. This place is definitely not made for a quiet dinner.

The service here is awful. We ordered one all you can eat and one order of 3 rolls separately bc I wasn’t hungry enough to do all you can eat. The waitress asked multiple times if my husband was sure he would eat all of what he ordered bc you have to finish it all. We heard you the first and understand the all you can eat glory rules so shut up already! The sushi was definitely not worth the $ 29 all you can eat cost of the 3 rolls for $ 13. There was not much flavor and they didn’t taste that fresh. We will not be coming back here again as there are so many other sushi places in the east village we would rather spend $ 50 on! This is a skip… try the new all you can eat sushi place on 1st Ave between 7th and 8th street! The name escapes me but they are having a great grand opening special these days $ 13 for lunch and $ 28 for dinner!

Kumo is good if you’re on a budget, The sushi is decent, they really don’t fudge it. All standard rolls are $ 12 for 3, And it’s only a dollar for each sashimi. Again, it’s not great, I would NOT bring a date, But it’s definitely passable, though, If you’re broke and want sushi, give it a go.

Das Kumo Sushi bietet nebst der normalen(Sushi) Karte all you can eat and drink für ca. 27 $!
