La Catrina Mexican Grill

Went on a nice weathered evening, decently priced since now the neighborhood tends to have pricey restaurants. Had a nice appetizer the calamari was fresh and delicious, the hookah was also nice, got the sangria which was pleasantly strong.
however they really need to figure out how to connect the bills for the food and drinks with the bill for the hookah kind of a pet peeve of mine
Music is loud so not really a place for conversation more like a warm up place before hitting up your club of choice.

The one star is for how cool this place looks/​décor. Other than that it offers nothing else. The bartender doesn’t know her tequilas! It’s a Mexican restaurant for the love of God. Good attempt to place a nice restaurant in the neighborhood but the service is lacking.

I really wanted to like this place the décor is supper cool and the DJ was on point. But I wish I could give this place 0 stars. The service is horrible. The hostess is all over the place. It literally took 30min. to get a pitcher. There is one waiters for the entire restaurant. I asked for water and after asking both the waiters and the host and waiting over 20mim. I had to walk to the bar to get it my self. Mind you they never came with the water or followed up with me. So disappointed I really wanted a cool place to hang out at.

Looking for a nice chill spot then look no further. Awesome décor & very attentive & helpful staff. Not to mention happy hour until 9pm & plenty of outdoor seating!

So sad, typical place in the heights, no identity just décor. Food is a mess … Very confused menu you would never think it’s a Mexican place. And to top it all the food is bad, consistently bad :(I had my hopes up because he place «looks» cool. But def not for anyone interested in eating. If you want mediocre drinks and loud music this is your place.

This place has a lot of potential to be a really great hot spot. The venue is very spacious and the décor is beautiful. The biggest downfall here is their horrible service. It took 20 mins for an actual waitress to come over to our table, and what felt like a half hour just for her to bring us two drinks (one of them was completely wrong.) When it was time for us to pay the bill for the two drinks, she gave us the bill and disappeared. My friend and I stood waiting for her to pick up the bill so she could charge the bill on my card; she took so long my friend and I were really considering leaving without paying. Once she finally noticed that we were waiting for her, she told us that we were suppose to get up from our seats and search for her. She also suggested that if we want better service next time we should sit in the back –____-…I will not be returning.

i have been here twice. one for brunch with my fiancée and her friends and another with some coworkers.
likes: very roomy and airy, and the décor is fantastic. very well thought out place in terms of design. the service has been great both times i have gone. when i went for brunch, the waitress honored the brunch special eventhough we were a bit past the brunch hour menu. the drinks were tasty and overall it was a pleasant experience.
the second time i went with coworkers we had a very good time. server was very attentive and we enjoyed ourselves. we were a bit surprise that the place was empty for a thursday night (only about 4 tables with people)
overall, i would definitely visit this place again for a fun summer night out or lazy sunday afternoon with friends. i supposed since its fairly new, it still hasnt developed a crowd and hence the small amount of people on a thurs night.
ONE THING TO KEEP IN MIND: the parking. the parking place next door is very expensive ($ 20) so either take a cab, search for a spot on the street or beware of the charge.

La Catrina is a very fun place for a good time with friends and meet new people. It’s got a cool vibe to it and the outdoor spacing compliments the place very well. I highly recommend the shrimp mofongo (it is certainly one of the best I’ve had). Note that the portion is small (somewhere between an appetizer and a full plate) but good enough to share.

This place upon arrival looks promising, beautiful décor, lively ambiance and open space.
I went over there really hungry hoping the food will be good but as an uptown resident i should’ve known better to not go with high expectations
I ordered the guacamole, it was not fresh, and very mushy, I should’ve took it as a sign to leave right there. I ordered tacos and when i received my dish it was mini tacos, bite size tacos and the meat was horrible and then I asked the server why would he not tell me that the tacos would be so tiny and he just stared at me with a blank face. My friend had mini mofongos those tasted alright. The drinks were mediocre, ordered a mojito had to return it because all you tasted was the soda they used to mix with it
The sight of mothers smoking hookahs right next to their kids make me cringe. Overall this
place i guess will be fine if you’re just doing drinks and going to smoke hookah but stay away from the food. The menu is a liar and misspelled by the way

Came here with my partner on 6÷5÷2015 for a date night and were seated promptly — something that I always love. Right away we noticed the Beautiful décor that they had, which we fell in love with.
It was a night where we just wanted to hang out, we didn’t want to eat too much and weren’t that hungry. We decided to share a patacon with shredded beef and steak tacos. Both tasted just fine. We also ordered a pitcher of Passion Fruit Margarita which we enjoyed. After the pitcher was done, we each ordered a frozen margarita which wasn’t frozen at all and didn’t taste good either. We had hookah and it was very good.
Overall, I’d go back to La Catrina and I’d definitely try other stuff on the menu because they had a lot of variety.

Was there for Sunday brunch with a large group. Beautiful place, horrible service. Each plate came out one at a time, the food was cold and mediocre.

The service is terrible. DO NOT waste your time or money. The staff has no clue and we were 14 ppl and none of our orders were correct, timely, or arrived at all. Waste of time. NO Estrellas!
