I went for a quiet dinner out and was blown away by the service. The food was phenomenal, The staff were polite and attentive.

I came here in search of a foie gras burger since foie gras is now banned in California. Although they had it, I was underwhelmed by nearly everything I ordered. The front of the restaurant is very low-key and if you weren’t looking for it, you might mistake it for a lobby of an apartment building. The décor has a minimalist and modernly artistic approach. It reminded me of a hotel restaurant, nothing remarkable but not shabby either. Foie Gras Burger: Extremely Greasy. They didn’t cook out the fat in the foie so when I tried to hold the burger, the grease leaked everywhere. My patty was a nice medium rare, but wasn’t seasoned and nothing out of the ordinary. Truffle poached egg: Good, but not great. I love truffle and poached eggs and I thought the combination would be good but it wasn’t. Lobster Bisque: NO lobster taste, 1 piece of lobster, enough said. Seared Scallops: The sear on the scallops was nice, but it came with these fava beans and carrots that were rough, tasteless, and reminded me of frozen TV dinner veggies. Bloody Mary: One of the worst I’ve ever had. The juice was watery; it was lacking Worcestershire sauce, horseradish and pepper. I really think it was just watery tomato juice, tobacco and vodka. Service — The only reason I’m giving them 2 stars is because their service was quite good. They were very attentive but it would be appalling if they weren’t since there were only 2 tables occupied.

Four stars, for service. Three stars, for food. Originally made reservations for 4 on a Friday night at 815pm. Friends called and said add 3 more to the party. Ugh! Why do I have to be the responsible one??? I called La Silhouette a day before the reservation to add 3 more and Sally answered. They hold your credit card info for reservations and charges $ 25/person for no shows. Wow. Sally waived the credit card thing as long as I can confirm all 7 will be coming. Knowing my friends, that’s uncertain. Ugh. After so many phone calls to said friends it turns out other 2 is unsure. Sally was nice to accommodate my ever changing reservation which is now down to 5. Friday night comes, 730 still at home waiting. Filipino time sucks! They finally came at a little past 830. Another one Bowed out and were left with the original reservation…4! Ugh! We called to change reservation time since we’re just leaving Queens and already late… finally got there at 930. I’m starving. Ugh. Restaurant façade is not as attractive as I might prefer. They used neon lighting. Inside, It has three small levels going down. When you first come in they have a bar on the left and the reception. You go down a small flight of stairs and there’s seating which looks a little more private for bigger parties. Main seating are is at the lowest level. We sat at the main seating area. Lighting was dim. Restaurant looks pretty decent. Not too fancy or high end. Our meal started off with complimentary bread, cranberry or sourdough. Sourdough was too tough and cranberry not so good. We had potato croquette as complimentary amuse bouche. Not bad. Actually tasty. We ordered the bone marrow to share as appetizer. Good for the tummy, baddddd for the heart. I ordered their Lobster in Oaked Chardonnay Buerre Blanc with Marinated Summer Vegetables, Smoked Corn Purée, Chermoula. Meat was kinda tough and salty. My friends got the short ribs, scallops and foie gras glazed filet mignon. Other than the filet mignon, our entrees were pretty much salty. Filet mignon was great, wished I gotten that instead. For dessert we got the flourless chocolate cake and coconut panna cotta. We also got comp cookies and muffins. Not much to talk about. Cake was average, panna cotta was ok. I don’t even remember if I even tried the cookies. What warranted the extra star for service? One of my friends cannot eat anywhere without white rice. Lol. The owner, Tito Rahman was gracious enough to provide my friend with some. I believe they had to go to their sister restaurant to get some rice and beans… I should have asked these ladies their preference… I thought we were all on a no carb diet lol

Holy crud I guess I shouldn’t have come here for Restaurant Week because the rest of these reviews are all pretty good… Sorry to throw in a wrench, but definitely wasn’t as impressed. Came here with a buddy a while back after deciding we wanted to take a break from work. I got the pâté for appetizer, cod for the entrée, and the sundae for dessert. The service and presentation were phenomenal — receptionist and waiter were extremely kind, constantly making sure we were well attended. However, what’s most important is obviously the food(you could have the worst service ever, and I’ll just tip the chef and kitchen staff instead), and it was very disappointing. Portions were small and more focused on presentation and the look of fanciness, and the food itself actually wasn’t tasty at all. Cod seemed a bit on the stale side and didn’t have much flavor, and even the cake for the sundae seemed like it was made a week beforehand, thrown into the freezer, and quickly microwaved. The pâté was nothing special, and the paired celeriac remoulade, pickled radish, whole grain mustard paired with it was rather funky and bordering on gross… Pretty expensive joint and overall not really worth it for Restaurant Week.

Some of the best places to eat are the ones that you walk into randomly. Okay, so dining here wasn’t totally random, but we found this establishment via a quick search on Unilocal. It looked good, and it was relatively close to our hotel so we grabbed our jackets and headed out the door. From the street, La Silhouette looks very unassuming. It seems like a small, quiet, clean restaurant. And it is, for the most part. However, once you step inside, it opens up in the most amazing way. Once you walk past the bar and a few small tables, the dining room opens up into a sunken room with amazing décor and a very romantic setting. We honestly came here for the food and not to marvel at the décor(even though it was pretty awesome)… so how was the food? Simply put, it was amazing. They started us off with an amuse-bouche of fried fritter and a chilled gazpacho type soup. For appetizers, we ordered the duck confit croquettes and the slow poached heirloom egg over leek tart. The croquettes were mind blowing. I could have eaten an entire plate full if I was given the opportunity. The poached egg was cooked perfectly and the tart added a nice sense of balance. I ordered the filet as an entrée and she ordered the organic salmon. My filet came out to me perfectly cooked. It almost melted in my mouth. It was served with a pretty rich sauce that complemented the beef very well. Her salmon was well seasoned and incredibly tasty. They offered us a dessert menu, which we took a look at, but we were so full from our meal we had to decline. That didn’t stop them from bringing out a complimentary dessert though. They gave us a few cookies and some mini muffins. It was a pleasant end to an unforgttable dining experience.

God made mint for mixed drinks, I’m pretty sure. Some say mint is a weed. I say mint is mixed drink perfection. The best part of my meal at La Silhouette was a pomegranate mojito. That ends my praise of La Silhouette. This is one of those times I wish Unilocal did ½ stars. I decided to go with the 4 rather than the 3 because for theater district the food it is above the rest. There are two indoor seating areas which are cosy but not cramped and one lovely outside dining area. If you are looking for alfresco without the the smog of taxi fumes the outside dining area has you covered. The staff was friendly. The service had the elements I like such as an amuse bouche(Lobster bisque with a potato fitter, lovely) and the waiter cleared the table of crumbs before serving dessert these small touches go a long way. The food was good, just not great. I had salmon, my momma had steak. It was kind of gross with all the extra fat she left on the plate. I thought a Fillet Mignon didn’t have that kind of fatty parts? I don’t eat the dead cow but she does and she said the steak was blah. It came on top of sticky black sticky rice. Not sure what that was all about. I had the brownie dessert that had a nice liquor caramel somthing. The caramel somthing was my second favorite thing about the meal. With 2 drinks each and no apps it was about $ 200 bucks.

The atmosphere and the service were above par, the food on the other hand was not. I had the Prix Fixe lunch and was underwhelmed by the choices. I had a ‘Chicken Kiev’ dish, that was extremely oily. I love butter, but the filling in the Kiev tasted only of melted oily butter which flooded my plate and the tiny asparagus it laid upon once cutting into the chicken. I had to pull my asparagus out of the pool of butter and try to drain them. Guess I should’ve ordered a la carte and had the foie gras baklava and something else. These 3 stars are for service and décor only.

Attention Unilocalers! Go directly to La Silhouette. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $ 200. Wow! Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing ambiance. This is a bona fide New York City restaurant for bona fide New Yorkers! There is no pretense, no tourists, no gimmicks, no facades. The atmosphere was laid back and the volume seemed to be very quiet, but all the guests were clearly having normal conversations. Good for a date or small groups(most there were small groups). Came here for Restaurant Week on Thursday night with 2 friends. There is a bar at the entrance and the small entry space where it’s located feels open and roomy somehow. They seated us immediately. The place is decorated in a simple, but classy and modern way. The service was incredible — I felt like I was the only guest dining there because of un-intrusive, but attentive service. The food came out at the exact right time — even though I had no idea what the right time was supposed to be, it just seemed to be perfectly timed. The food was sooooo good. Ordered the parsnip soup for starters and the half-chicken for entrée. The chicken was succulent, juicy, and tender. I hardly needed a knife for it to come apart in the exact right bite size for my fork to introduce it to my mouth. The seasonal drink I ordered was the tu-tu –something. It was unique and delicious — fruity, but not sweet; dry, but easy to drink; and sparkly! Dessert was also yummy. So, my local native NYC’ers. .. .Just go! You will know that this is what a real New Yorker means when they think of a secret local luxe restaurant that maybe only a lifelong New Yorker would know about!

Came for a business lunch and ordered the following: Slow poached heirloom egg for apps and island duck breast for my entrée. The duck was surprisingly tender, which I liked a lot, and the egg was an interesting texture with the rest of the plate. There’s nothing wrong with this restaurant, per se, but it wasn’t a favorite. I think it seemed to lack any character that would differentiate from anywhere else…

I’m just lucky my birthday is during restaurant week. As I was thinking of a place to go, I couldn’t stop thinking of how I loved French food. So I Unilocaled French restaurants, and fell in love with the reviews of this place. Cons — no happy hour :(and the décor could be better. Pros — A LOT! First of all, I’m glad they have a coat check. I find it annoying that a lot of restaurants don’t. They have a lot of seating arrangements, some by the patio and some along the hallway. Unfortunately, we didn’t score a table by the patio, but our booth was very comfortable nonetheless. I loved the complimentary appetizers, very thoughtful, and it was pretty good for free stuff — but i forgot what it was called. Oops! We ordered off the restaurant week menu and got the Winter Parsnip soup for starters. The pears in soup were a first, however, I couldn’t really taste the croutons. The soup was a little on the sweet side, which I think was because of the pears — it wasn’t bad at all, but i’m not a fan of sweet soups. For our main entrees, I got the chicken with bacon, potatoes and onions — it was really good! Amazing actually! I loved it! The chicken was tender, the white meat was not dry at all and it was seasoned very well. For dessert, I think the portions were a little small. But hey, it was a restaurant week menu. However, I think it was really sweet that they added a ‘happy birthday’ note to my dessert plate and lit a candle too! After dinner, they gave us complimentary moscato. It was by far, the best moscato I’ve ever had. Definitely a great way to end a good meal. Its nice when restaurants go the extra mile. On top of all that, the staff was very friendly! One of the owners, Tito, was very nice and accommodating. Overall, I can say having dinner at La Silhouette was a great way to end my birthday.

I had a good experience here with the deal I had but overall I’m not sure I would come back for dinner. The restaurant itself is nice and I didn’t feel like the tables were on top of each other. The breads they offer were great. I got cranberry pecan. My starter was the poached egg with mushrooms. This dish was very good. Although it didn’t wow me. My bf had the lobster bisque which I thought was a little too sweet. My main Was the lobster and sea bass. The sauce it was in was way too sweet. Iove sweets but not when Im wanting savory. I didn’t care for the dish which made me wish I had picked the scallops instead. My bf got the steak and short rib and thought it was ok. He’s hard to please. For dessert I got the tart of the day which was banana and my favorite part of the meal. My bf got some root beer float dessert that we both thought was terrible. I really wanted to love the food here more but service and dessert kept it at 4 stars. From what I see here brunch is good but I can’t find their menu. Does anyone have any details?

I’ve been wanting to write this review for some time and I wanted to get in depth because I couldn’t stop bragging about how amazing this place was. My girlfriend and I needed a last minute place to eat and we were staying at the Hudson. Out of all of the places in the area, this place appealed to us on Unilocal,so we decided to give it a go. It was the best decision we’ve made on this trip. First off, the décor is really cool and modern. The host was friendly from the beginning and they walked us to our table(we made a reservation just an hour before we got there). Before I talk about the service, let me mention that I was a server for about 6 years in both New York and LA at well established restaurants, so I’m really picky with how a server should act, especially when you are at a nice restaurant. …Okay, so back to my review. The service was, hands down, absolutely amazing. The timing of food. Perfect. The timing for the server to approach our table and check up on us. Perfect. It was a busy night too, but he made the time to multi task. And the manager also stopped by and asked us how we were, and he was incredibly friendly. I may have come across as one of those undercover food critics because I was guessing every ingredient that was in the dish. But I was only guessing because the food was just so amazing, it blew us away! This is what we had: Slow Poached Farm Egg– This was just to die for. So simple, and yet so tasteful. Sweet Potato Gnocchi– Radicchio, toasted hazelnuts, gorgonzola dulce fondue. Escargots Bourgogne– Another amazing dish. Only the second time I’ve had escargot and it was so good. Duck Breast– Red Wine Poached Figs, Red Quinoa, Spiced Honey, Persian Duck Jus. I’ve looked at the menu recently and noticed some of the items changed a bit, so I’m curious how the new changes are. They also removed the Gnocchi from the menu which is surprising because it was so good. Conclusion: I have nothing negative to say about this restaurant. Its funny because my girlfriend and I wanted to take photos of the dishes throughout the meal, but we forgot every time because we were just so into the moment and experience of eating at this wonderful French cuisine place. Sorry it took me so long to write this.

This place is delicious, perfect date spot. Romantic/chic/polished ambiance. Food is flavorful, creative, beautifully plated and presented by such genuine and friendly staff. No question about it — the best kept secret in NYC. I loved being able to wear denim and not feel too under dressed. The owners at the front of the house take pride in this establishment, had the most delicious popcorn cream brulee here. Next time i am in New york — this is on top of my list.

i am not sure where to begin. First of all, i dont give 5 stars lightly or easily. La silhouette is elegant but casual. Delicate and delicious food with flare but without the incredibly high price tag. Service is excellent, friendly and attentive, genuine and not phoney. The décor seemed very romantic to me, elegant and sharp. The restaurant is big, full bar and a menu worthy of a Michelin star. In fact, I was shocked this place isnt a recipient of a Michelin star, it offers everything you can expect at a fine dining restaurant and more. The staff is sincere, the food is to die for, the experience was lovely and i cant wait to return! Five stars, easiest five stars i have ever given!

This place is a hidden gem with very little hype. Here’s the skinny: La Silhouette is a Michelin star worthy establishment with very reasonable prices. I was surprised how easy it was to book a reservation for a Friday night. I really hope that this place stays open for a long time. As a Hell’s Kitchen local, I can vouch that this is the classiest meal in the neighborhood. For your appetizer try the poached egg over ricotta filled ravioli. It was an amazingly crafted dish. Such precision, artistry and taste… it was perfect. For our mains we had the duck breast and poached halibut. The duck breast was perfectly cooked and the skin had just the right amount of crispiness. I thought the pairing of cherries and duck went very together. The halibut was great also, but my fiancé complained that the portions were a bit small. I plan to return for a special occasion and try the $ 110 seven course tasting menu. If you’re into haute cuisine, you have to give La Silhouette a try.

I came here to treat my bf to a nice dinner for his birthday and everything was pretty good including the service. We talked to the manager Tito while sitting at the bar and he was super sweet and wonderful. I was reading some articles about this restaurant and it turns out he used to be the manager for Le Bernardin. The prices are a little high, but it’s definitely fine dining so it’s not too crazy compared to other restaurants of it’s level. I’m excited to try their brunch after seeing so many good reviews!

I came here for brunch with two girlfriends, one of whom chose this place based upon a recommendation of another friend. I made a reservation through OpenTable the night before we were to meet for brunch(I was somewhat of a procrastinator). It was rather empty when I walked in there, so we got the best table in the house, in my opinion. We were seated next to a window that had pretty orchids lined up along the windowsill. TOPNOTCHSERVICE. We had somewhat terrible hangovers from the night before, so we stayed away from the alcohol at brunch. However, the host wasn’t visibly indignent when we ordered diet cokes and coffee. By the way, there are NOFREEREFILLS here… 4 diet cokes cost $ 20, which means each glass of soda is $ 5. The service staff was very quick to refill water cups and clear used dishes. One of the servers was even willing to personally walk me toward the ladies room. It’s the little things that make the dining experience that much better. ASFORTHEFOOD… The menu was pretty generic brunch fare at Hells Kitchen prices. Which means, it’s expensive. We ordered the following dishes(see pictures): 1) Eggs Benedict 2) Spinach and Mushroom Omelette with Gruyère Cheese. 3) French Toast(this is just one slab of really thick toast) What made the brunch stand out was the bread. Instead of the crusty hard bread that most places offer, La Silhouette offered lemon and banana bread. We all chose the banana bread… and it was finger smacking delicious. It tasted like a mixture of pound cake and banana cake. The restaurant started filling up more around 1pm. If you’re in the mood for a quiet brunch, I’d recommend coming before or around 12pm. It would be really great if the little patio outside the restaurant could be turned into a dining area. Today, for example, would have been the perfect day to have an outdoors brunch!

Located in the Hell’s Kitchen/Theater District area there are a number of French Restaurants from which to choose. I’ve been to them all and have found La Silhouette to be, hands down, the best of them. First is the décor, which is sparkling, unique, modern, trend setting fashionable. Everything is clean, bright and well set. The service is professional, knowledgeable and top notch. The food is definitely the real thing, French, but not just basic French. Every dish seems to be exquisitely prepared using the finest of ingredients and with each having a unique flare as well as a quality of presentation. The secret to the food seems to be in chef’s uncanny ability to prepare each dish with a simple understated elegance and clarity of flavors. I was delighted to find such a wonderful French restaurant in the Hell’s Kitchen area of New York, serving excellent French food at reasonable prices. I’ll definitely be returning in the future. I’m a fan, gave it four stars and would have gone five stars, but sticking with a price proportional ratio, I found it to be just a tad too high on the pricey side. However, if there were a 4.5 or a 4+ rating, I would have given it.

High class spot off 9th Ave…$ 21 prix fixe luch is a bargain for this level of food. Prix fixe lunch at Le Bernadin is $ 70. This restauant is a split level with a brownstoney feel and spacious seeting. Service is super professional and high end. The lunch prix fixe offers two options from either appetizer or entrée or dessert. Each option offers three chocies. I went with appetizer and main and added the dessert as an extra. Total with dessert added on was $ 31, Sour dough bread with dough imported from France and baked off at the restaurant could have been local– Sullivan St. bakery or other– my only criticisim of the restaurant is bread was not rocking. Ordered: Grilled leek salad with duck prociuitto grilled red onion vinaigrette Amish chicken with wild mushrooms and a olive caper jus Cheesecake with strawberry rhubarb compote and mango sorbet The grilled leek salad was tasty, but the grilled red onion dressing was winey and delish. Amish chicken was soooooooooooo flavorful and the wild mushrooms were a lovely addition, plus the delectable and bread dipping worthy olive, caper jus. The star of the show was the dessert– not to be missed… light American cheesecake with the compote and mango sorbet are NON– STOP delish. Cool, industrial bathroom with a neat closure. Lots of varieties of wines and liquors by the glass. Overall, wonderful dining experience.
