Ladurée Soho

First time at this location. I love the macarons at Laduree. The flavors changes all the time. My all time favorite is the Pistachio. This is a great location and the staff here is so friendly. Lots of seating and fancy desserts to chose from. Great place to go after shopping for coffee and desserts. If you can’t go to the Laduree in Paris there’s 3 location in US. 2 in NYC and 1 in Florida. Everyone must try Laduree once in their lifetime. It’s that good. Fancy Smancy place.

The orange blossom macaron from Laduree is my absolute favorite macaron — 5 stars for their macarons.
This 3-​star review is for the SOHO location’s café/​sit down experience and the terrible service we experienced. Luckily Joanna helped save the day — she took over our table and showed us what immaculate service was like — and with a smile. She was exactly what I would have expected of a place like Laduree. Unfortunately she seemed to be the only one.
First off, the hostess was not friendly and acted as if she was doing us a favor by finding us a table in the 80% empty restaurant when we arrived in the early afternoon. Although there was plenty of staff around, they all seemed scattered and were inattentive. When we were seated, the woman next to us was having a word with the manager who was apologizing profusely about something. Alarm should have gone off.
Anyway, needless to say we also had a pretty rough experience. Our initial waitress (not sure of name) was running around with her head cut off and was also quite rude while she explained the details of the tea service which was also unclear since a large part of your options aren’t aligned with the menu. After taking forever to order, she ended up telling us that she had to substitute many of our selections of what was left because they were all sold out. When we asked if it would be possible to change a selection she just barked «NO! There is NO MORE!». Wow, take it easy lady. Anyway, needless to say I think Joanna noticed something was wrong and helped take over our table and really just was exquisite — bringing this review from a 1 star to 3. She herself deserves a 5 star review.
Overall, for the $ 32 price for tea service you get a lot of food. although the finger sandwiches are pretty awful. They came out wrapped in wax paper and did not taste fresh at all. The pastries were pretty good, and of course the macarons. The value is there, but the service is pretty shockingly horrible (sans Joanna).

It was raining cats and dogs and the staff was nice about letting me wait inside for my friend. The décor here is just so lovely. The color palate amuses the eye like the macarons beautifully on display. I have only been to the Laduree in Paris so it was nice to revisit after so many years.
I love the endless variety of tea selection. They come in cute tea pots and I love the pretty, matching tea cups and saucers. The whole experience was delightful. I hear they have a plush and beautiful garden seating in the back. I definitely want to return in the spring when I can sit and enjoy my tea outdoors.

Great place for a date! I’ve been to this location a number of times and I’d say that besides the desserts/​macarons, which of course are great, the best part of Laduree Soho is the decorations/​interior design.
I’ve never had the food but in terms of desserts — the pistachio and rose macarons are delicious and if you’re in the mood for cake, definitely get any of the desserts with rose. As for tea, I personally like the Josephine — it’s just a great blend of black tea and fruit.
Besides that, the service is fine and depending on what day/​time you go, there will definitely be a wait but given the reasonable pricing, I’d say it’s worth your time.

I love Laduree macarons. They are honestly the best I’ve ever had.
The decorations and interior design is just beautiful.
I would have given it a five star if it weren’t for the staff that worked there. They were short and very rude.
I also visited their other location on the Upper East side, and the experience was so much different. The people at the other location were so genuinely nice and attentive.

It’s a cute place to visit whether in the summer or the winter. During the summer, you can sit outside on the patio. During the winter, you are seated indoors — cute décor, like a French tea room. I’ve been here twice, both for dinner. Service was slow the 1^st time I came over the summer. The service was better when I came again recently. The food is decent and you can order a few small plates to share with friends, but it is a bit pricey. I recommend the Mini Burgers de Bœuf and Salade Concorde. I was not too crazy about the selection of cheeses on Cheese plate with dried Fruits. For dessert, I would definitely recommend the Tarte Passion Framboise — it is delicious, fragrant, and fruity.
Overall, I would give it 3.5 stars. It’s a fun and relaxing place to come with a small group of friends or a date, whether it’s for lunch or dinner. They serve both hot teas and cocktails.

Came here to get macarons for a friend’s gift.
It’s hard to understand where you line up. There’s a pole railing that gives you space in front of the display of desserts and space in back of it. Go to the one where you’re directly in front of the display. That’s where they will take your order (found this the hard way). I was confused and at first lined up behind it, but wasn’t helped at all (talk about awkward). There were two girls that were being helped and they came after me. I wish they had more clear instructions.
So, I lined up again. Now, I was in the front and was helped by a lady. I ordered the Lemon, Cognac, Vanilla, Marie Antoinette, Rose and Pistachio.
Anyways, I opted for the 6 for $ 21 which comes with a gift box. I highly recommend paying for the gift box (It comes with the 6 for $ 21), as it protects your macarons from being broken and etc. The gift box is quite pretty and adds a elegant touch to your gift.
I paid by credit card. When you pay, the receipt gives you room to leave a tip. Not sure if this was optional/​mandatory, so I tipped them a standard amount (considering the fanciness of this place).
Considering how expensive this place is, I would only come here to get macarons/​dessert items for gifts or special occasions.

French pastries in one of my favorite NYC neighborhoods. Does it get any better? Non, cheri.
After you’ve consumed 5000 macarons, make your way to every raspberry tart you can lay your grubby hands on. Buy some stationery next door. Roam Aritzia and Zara.
A dream.

I am basing my review on their macarons and ice cream. If you know macarons, you know Laduree is the top of the crop. I’ve tried many and i mean MANY macaron places and nothing compares to Laduree. I kind of like think of myself as a macaron connoisseur lol.
ANYways, basically you haven’t tried a macaron until you try these. They always have the perfect shell and the right amount of filling. None of their flavours are ever too sweet. Vanilla and chocolate are my go to flavours. If you like their macarons you will for sure like their ice cream. Every time I come to New York i HAVE to get a coffee ice cream from Laduree. It’s so good and I can’t get it in Toronto lol so I have to indulge when I can.
I’ve also eaten at Laduree. I got the «Vol Au Vent De Volaille Bio Aux Champignons Sauvages organic» which is chicken breast «vol-​au-​vent», wild mushrooms and cream sauce. Honestly this was just okay and I think too salty for my liking. However, like I said, I am basing this review off of the macarons and ice cream. I think eating in the café is a must experience. It’s so cute and pretty.

The service is exactly what you expect from a place like this: obsequious, attentive and very careful. But then they were also not too annoying, which was very pleasing.
I came here with my friend for a brunch. I ordered an onion soup and a salad royale, and my friend got salad laduree. We were really impressed by the portions because they were not the typical French modest ones, but big and very filling. Salad royale was delicious, with a lot of beef carpaccio. Laduree salad was decent, but lacked seasoning. Onion soup was a bit sour.
But there were the desserts, which do not even need any descriptions. Heavenly and that’s it.
I’m definitely coming back here for desserts, but brunch I’m not so sure.

Macaron was pricey, but very good. I had the pistachio and thought it was delicious. Their walnut croissant was one of the best things I’ve ever had — even better than Balthazar… I highly recommend you try it. It’s 1.85 for the mini and 3.75 or something for the regular. It was PERFECT

You hear the word Laudree and you immediately think reknown macaroons. Well they are well known because their macaroons are delicious! Pricey yet delicious. Their café is absolutely gorgeous and I had the pleasure of tea time on the patio.
I tried the pistachio macaroon and brought the salted caramel, rose water, and Cognac flavored macaroon home and they were all absolutely delicious. I do agree with some of the Unilocalers below regarding service, but everyone is really friendly there!
I still have to come back to try their delicious looking pastries and ice cream! If you haven’t tried Laudree’s macaroons I say its well worth the hype.

The different flavors of the ganache of each macaron were on point and left me pining for more. The macaron shells, however, were not impressive. They broke easily under the slightest touch, and it was as if I were eating colored sugar shells. On the other hand, beautiful deco and friendly service. Would come back here for Salted Caramel and Chocolate.

If you were to 3D print a little girl’s fantasy of a stereotypical Parisian dream house covered with sweets, it would be Ladurée. If you were to take the fanciest, most expensive garden party, filled it with pastel-​coloured sunhat-​wearing ladies who drink tea with their pinky up, and condensed it in a tiny New York shop, that would be Ladurée. Why am I going into so much detail about the décor? Because I spent an hour in line to buy two macarons and that’s all I could focus on for that hour.
To be fair, though the wait was ridiculous, there was a lot to look at. The dessert area is beautifully decorated. They have rows filled with Ladurée boxes and artifacts that just add to that European dessert house feel, even more so with the white marble-​like statues in the dining area. The desserts themselves are works of art. Works of art with prices to match. Almost $ 10 for a small piece of cake and about $ 3 for a macaron.
Those macarons were definitely some of the best I’ve ever had though. I got the Marie Antoinette and the cognac. The Marie Antoinette was bright robin egg blue, with earl grey flavours and a smooth chocolate filling. The cognac is my favourite macaron of all time. The first bite filled your mouth with distinct cognac sweetness and you almost feel like you can get drunk eating it.
If a Ladurée opened near me, I’d probably treat myself once in awhile. Even though I didn’t know about this place beforehand (my friend took us here to buy something for his girlfriend), this was definitely a unique place that I can’t quite compare to anything else. If only I could’ve had the full dine-​in dessert experience, that would really be something. I guess I’ll just have to settle for two macarons worth of sweet memories.

Expensive but so beautiful and delicious. It does make me feel like I need to dress up to be in there, but whatever. I’m here for fancy pastries. Are they pastries? Sure. Whatever. More please.

Super cute place! If you want to feel like Blair Waldorf from the Gossip Girl show, you HAVE to visit! :-) We came in one winter afternoon for lunch and some desserts. After we were seated our lovely waitress Marie recommended to get the hot chocolate which she said was exactly how they serve it in France. Needless to say we HAD to try it:-) and it was awesome! We got one lunch item to share since we were not that hungry and then we chose two desserts out of others on the tray that were gracefully presented to us by Marie. It was a large macaron with fresh raspberries and some pastry with raspberries and lychee and rose filling. Just heaven! Overall great experience, friendly awesome service, delicious food!

Not because the desserts/​pastries or drinks weren’t stellar, but because the service could be better. It took a solid 5 minutes for someone to stop by and ask what kind of water we preferred. And another 5 – 10 minutes until they took our orders.
The ambiance of the café/​restaurant is nice, just as you’d expect; Beautifully decorated and with dimmed lighting for mood.
The Saint Honore Rose Framboise was quite lovely. The espresso was so-​so.
The macarons are always great! But, I do have to say I’m beginning to prefer macarons from La Maison Du Macaron more these days.

Wow. This place screams class and elegance and a definite ladies-​who-​lunch vibe, Parisian style.
Went here for dessert. I’m told this place can get very busy, however, we must have gone on the off-​peak time, as we were seated right away. Our server was very charming and friendly, although that may have been because my friend started conversing in French to her. I mean, once that started, she completely switched out of English, so I’m not actually sure what she was saying, but she spoke French warmly and with a smile, so I’m guessing she was charming.
We ordered pots of tea from their extensive tea list (Jasmine and Orange Blossom, both wonderful) and some macarons and King cake. We picked four macaron flavors: orange blossom, pistachio, salted caramel, and lemon. There’s a reason why they are known for them. The crisp, light wafer thin exteriors combined with the vibrant, sweet but not too sweet creamy insides were just divine. I surprised myself by enjoying the lemon one the most.
The King cake was this gorgeous cake comprised of layers of delicate puff pastry with almond cream. It was delicious. Going along with French tradition, the King Cake is served as part of the end of the Christmas holiday, for the Epiphany festival. Similar to the Mardi Gras King’s cake, there is a tiny figurine baked in the cake, and whoever finds the fingurine becomes King for the day.
Choking hazard aside, the figurine Laduree uses is as elegant as everything else in their bakery/​café. A tiny little miniature plaster bust of a woman, and even had the words «Laduree 2016» inscribed on the bottom. Impressive. Even though I wasn’t the one who found the figurine (and therefore ineligible for the royal title), I was allowed to keep it and find it quite souvenir-​worthy.
It’s quite pricey, as you’d expect, but worth it to go at least once for the experience.

The best macarons in the city. They have more choice than Madison.
Tip: Always get a box to go, you never know when you will get hungry again!

I love the tea, the décor, and macarons here.
Knocking 3 stars off for the following reasons:
A. There was hair on the table before I sat down.
B. They allowed someone to bring their pet dog into the dining area and did not request that it be leashed.
C. Rose petal fell off someone’s Ispahan as the waitress was carrying it and she picked t up from the floor and plopped it right back on the dessert and took it to serve! How ridiculous is this???

It’s always such a pleasure coming into Laduree because I am constantly amused by their macaron displays. Their décor makes me want to buy everything in sight. Some of their memorable flavors were definitely rose, raspberry, and pistachio. These are by far the best macarons I’ve had (not that I’ve had that much in my life). Although I’m not a huge fan of macarons, I find myself craving for Laduree every once in a while. Too bad I live in Boston because otherwise I would be coming here more often. I came here for lunch couple months ago, but was quite underwhelmed with their menu and their flavors. I ordered the duck foie gras and my friend ordered a club sandwich. I actually enjoyed the club sandwich more than my foie gras. I will definitely come back and give their lunch menu another try.

Mehhh. It’s a cute place to go, but the macarons were not that great and staff was lazy and rude.
The place has two parts. A pick up and dine in. If you just want to order a few desserts and macarons, then you can get them in the front. There is also a cute dine in section. You feel like you are at a tea party. Very cute.
First of all, the price for a macaron is pretty pricy, but I got them anyways thinking I would get some bomb macarons, but I was so disappointed. I definitely had better macarons for so much cheaper. They were mediocre and flavors were nothing special.

Meh. Not bad, but I’ve had better (especially for the prices). I stopped by Laduree during my most recent visit to NYC and tried 5 of their macarons ($ 2.80 each):
— Pistachio: the pistachio flavor was a bit too subtle for my taste, but it was fine. A pretty run-​of-​the-​mill pistachio macaron.
— Salted caramel: I couldn’t tell if this was the salted caramel or caramel banana, and my friend had the same issue. I had such a hard time distinguishing the two flavors that I almost wondered if I had been given two of the same macarons… but I could have sworn I saw her grab each from the appropriate row. Flavor itself was pleasant, but a bit disappointing that I ran into this issue at such a highly regarded establishment.
— Maple syrup: I think I remember liking it… (read: unmemorable)
— Caramel banana: See salted caramel.
— Strawberry candy: probably the most interesting one. It had a marshmallow filling instead of the typical ganache, and the pink shell was speckled with sugar. Surprisingly good, although I still prefer the classic macarons.
Ultimately, I thought that the flavors of the macarons were not distinct enough, and this is clearly a problem when I can’t distinguish the flavors of two of my macarons. Texture and ganache: shell ratio were great, but the underwhelming flavor profiles + steep prices = solid 3 stars.

I will start off by admitting that my favorite macarons in the whole wide world are those made by Pierre Hermes. Every time that I go to Europe I pass by Paris just to have them.
However one of my best friends loves Laduree’s macarons, granted she has never tried the ones by Pierre Hermes. Because we typically love the same foods I gave Laduree a change when I was in London and I was underwhelmed.
So today when I was brunching in Soho and I bumped into the bakery it seemed fitting to give them another shot.
When you walk in it is very inviting and makes you believe that all things must be delicious. I was a little disturbed by a fly that landed on the croissants behind the counter and so was a teen in front of me. The boy reached his hand over the counter to «chase» the fly away which prompted his mom to tell him to stop it while he tried to explain to her that the fly was landing on food which was be sold and served to customers.
In any event given that I hadn’t actually seen the fly in macaronland I figured I was there and was going to order. While there is a chart on the counter with the flavors there are no signs with the actually macarons. So you are kind of playing a match and guessing game about the flavors… I inquired about this and was given somewhat of a blank stare. The service was bhla especially that provided by the cashier. When one is buying expensive pastries they are also looking for professional and perhaps friendly service.
In any event I soldiered through, got the macarons, and then I ate one… I was underwhelmed. There is nothing especial about them, well perhaps the pretty package. Aside from that they were not memorable at all well maybe the fly will be.
I gave two stars because the décor really is beautiful. While the service was bhla they were at least not rude. If anyone finds a macaron place that they think I must try let me know I am tired of having to go to Paris.

While the macarons are some of my favorites and the tea I got (oolong with violet) were really nice, the service fell short.
It wasn’t too busy so my friend and I sat right away. The server didn’t show up for a good five minutes, and then he didn’t get our complete order correctly. We ordered the 6 total macarons (rose, pistachio, and Marie Antoinette) along with our drinks — my friend had a coffee. The macarons came first and we sat around for at least another 5 minutes (it felt like longer) waiting for the tea and coffee, which doesn’t really make sense.
Also, we told our server that he missed one of the macaron we ordered and he said he was going to get it… but we never got it. Anywho, I guess the plus side was that he didn’t charge us for it?!
All in all, i agree with most of the reviews I read on here. Horrible service for dining — we waited around too long for what I would consider no reason. Fortunately for them, their macarons are still some of the best I’ve had.
Though, just to clarify, the ladies at the front counter did seem to be attentive. Just the back room.tsk.

This is my first time back for an event after a disappointing (and overpriced) dinner on valentines. The Valentines experience was so bad, I decided not to even talk/​review about it, depressed over the downhill slide (more like freefall) in quality from an institution I loved for so long for their amazing Macaroons — and tried to write it off as a one-​off since everyone gets busy on Valentines and that could have an impact on quality.
Well, no, this is now the new norm. Aside from opening week when they may have brought in a good French chef for that week and garnered up hype and positive reviews, the food has now been consistently awful here. I came back here for an hosted event, and the canapés were SO atrocious, I tried a few and after a bite, had to gracefully hide the evidence, not able to take another bite. Apparently aside from the macaroons shipped from France, the quality between their French macaroons and food made here in NY is night and day.
I’ll be back for Macaroons, but never again for the food.

I had a lovely time at brunch with a large group of 8 friends. We were seated even though all of our party had not arrived and given plenty of time before and after we finished out meal. Although the restaurant was busy, I loved that it wasn’t loud. Too many restaurants have tables on top of each other and play music making it difficult for you to hear people at your own table.
It’s slightly pricey, but it’s a type of place that you go for a special occasion. I liked that there is a pre-​fixe breakfast option during the weekday for $ 29, but the one for the weekend was like $ 49! And you are not allowed to split it.
I went with the Chocolat Viennois with Chantilly Cream and the Croque Monsieur. I was surprised with the Croque Monsieur which is usually like an open faced sandwich. Instead there were 4 mini pieces at each corner of the plate then a big portion of salad in the middle. Quite a small portion, which was fine with me because I have a small appetite, but not what one typically gets when ordering that dish. It was very tasty and i would get it again when I return. I posted a photo to give a better idea since it’s a hard to explain (or at least it is for me). I also ordered a scoop of coconut ice cream for dessert, which was delicious and creamy. Speaking of desserts, I would recommend the Salted Caramel and ginger ice cream one. I had some of my friend’s and regretted not getting it.
Overall had a wonderful experience here and plan to return. Based on other reviews I’ve read, I think it’s probably best to make a reservation. My friend took care of that, so we had no issues with waiting and dealing with crowds.

Awesome macarons, terrible service.
Came here as a group of 3 for their seated menu. First of all, the hostess shorted us 4 menus. They have a separate menu for food and a separate coffee/​dessert menu. Somehow we only ended up with 2 coffee/​dessert menus… hmm.
After waiting for about 20 minutes to place our order, we requested that the sandwich we ordered be cut into 3s. For a $ 20 sandwich, I don’t think that’s asking for a whole lot. Our waitress however, reacted as if I had just told her I wanted to stab myself with a fork.
After waiting another 25 minutes or so, our sandwich had come out, before our coffee/​teas had come out. I had assumed that our drinks would come out first…
Thankfully most of what we ordered made up for the lack of service.
The Club Lauduree sandwich we got was very tasty with good proportion of ingredients.
We tried 4 macaron flavors: pistachio, chocolate, raspberry, and rose flavor. Chocolate was my favorite (being a chocolate person), the raspberry was second fave, and the rose was pretty strong. I would only get rose if you know you like the flavor or if you just want to try something different. (pistachio wasn’t in the running for me since I’m allergic)
I ordered their «café viennoise with chantilly cream» which is just a fancy way of saying coffee with a side of whip cream. Just an FYI ;)
Come here for their food/​macarons but expect terrible service.

For the girl who is always on the go. stepping foot into Lauderee had brought me into a fairy tale land. From the set up of chandeliers and red rope access to enter. One feels like they are on a line to enter a hott new club instead to enter the land of sweets and macaroons galore!
We grabbed a box of 8 to go and we chomped down in none other than Bryant Park! It couldn’t have been a more perfect setting for tasting our macaroons for the first time! Boy were we happy, satisfied and thinking of the next time we could come back and indulge!
Maybe the next time we go, we will request to be seated at a table and enjoy the feel of being surrounded by fellow macaroon lovers!

This is reservation only, I actually got a bit upset as they informed me that. Fortunately they did sell to-​go macarons and coffee.
Got the macaron ice cream. It was very tasty and sorbet combined itself well with the sweetness of peach macaron. It was, on the other hand, pricey. So if you can indeed sit down and enjoy their amid ambiance, I recommend this place; otherwise probably there’s better choice elsewhere.

Leider kann ich keine NULL Sterne geben, so enttäuscht bin ich von dem Laden. Nicht dass ich über die Speisen meckern könnte, ich (wir) wurden nicht einmal bedient. Ich muss mich immer wieder über unsere Nachbarn die Franzosen aufregen. Kaum bekam man mit, das wir Deutsche sind, wurden wir mit einer Ignorranz bestraft, die nicht zu überbieten ist. Wir saßen ca. 20 Minuten in dem Restaurant, Gäste die nach uns kamen wurden sofort bedient. Die Herren Ober schauten uns sogar direkt an und liefen dann einfach an uns vorbei. So etwas habe ich in den USA noch nie erlebt. Also keine Angst Ihr lieben französischen Nachbarn, ich werde Euch sicher nie mehr besuchen oder in irgendein französisches Lokal gehen. Auch wenn die Macarons von La Duree wirklich einzigartig schmecken.
