This club is no longer open! Very disappointed and frustrated to have taken a cab & come to find out it wasn’t. Don’t waste your time.

Let me first say that I dont typically make it a habit of frequenting clubs where you get a more thorough security shakedown than at the airport(Plaxico and I are not clubbing buddies). I’ll admit, this type of place isnt really my scene, so maybe my review will be unfairly harsh. So take it with a grain of salt. I wanted badly to give Opera 1 star(like a number of those posting before me). The coat check took 15 minutes on the way in and out. On the dance floor, there was no shortage of dudes whose roll-on had rollen off. The cheese factor for guys and girls was off the charts. But I’m giving it two stars because it did have some redeeming qualities. First, the DJ was top-shelf in unintentional comedy. All night long he was shouting out lines like, «ladies, if you’ve got your own job and don’t need no man to blah blah blah» and«if you’re from New Jersey let me hear it!» I mean it was never-ending, but it was actually SO lame I found myself eagerly anticipating his next pep talk. So yes, I’m giving an extra star for it being so bad that I’m giving it a thumbs up. Second, and in all seriousness, the crowd was diverse and everyone seemed to be getting along, which is cool. There was Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, Asian, Middle-Eastern…and that was just the group who got off the bus from Bayonne! Third and final, the guy with the guest list at the front door was respectful and friendly… and the bartender upstairs was money(he was attentive and remembered me/my date’s drink everytime without having to repeat). Anyway, Opera gave me a few laughs and some good stories to share with friends. And oh yea, thanks to girl who posted about the pizza place next door — she was right on, it was delicious!

alright so I was doing this promotion for Opera and so I was supposed to be there from 12−3am and at first it was okay and then the scene completely changed, I was really tired and I slept a lot cause I was so bored, cause after my friend got kicked out and then our mutual friend was gonna leave and asked me to go too but I was like well I need to stay to get paid. I stayed and out of no where this guy moves my shit, and I was like why did you do that and he’s like oh you’re lucky I let you have your shit there and then his wife calmed him down and then out of nowhere the asshole spat in my face so I spat back and then some dumb bitches tried to start a fight with me and I was gonna swing but the security guard grabbed me before I could and quickly escorted me out. yeah so then I’m looking for the lady who is supposed to pay me and I finally get a hold of her and she was like well I don’t know what happened I wasn’t there and then there was an incident with your friend and I was like well you need to give me train fare at least cause I can’t get home otherwise, and she was like tell(my friend) that I gave you this out of my own pocket, I asked for 4 she gave me 3 bucks and I was really counting on the money from that night. You want to know what happened with my friend, he was choked by a security guard, this club is VERYUNPROFESSIONAL. They were supposed to have a VIP Line and then made people wait until 11pm just so they could charge them the cover. They were late to begin with showing up at close to 10:30 when it was supposed to be 10. I was hosting a table and I’m sure that no one was told my name to go to my table. Completely disorganized and unprofessional, don’t deal with this club if you don’t have to.

My first thought upon walking into Opera was hmm… I think I’ve been here before. And once I passed through the airport-style security checkpoint, I realized that I had – this was China Club. A rose by any other name… Actually, that isn’t true in this instance. The staff is now much nicer, and the dj’s are much better, playing a good mix of hip hop, reggae, reggaeton, and house. Everything else is pretty much the same; there was a line, but this time the fact that I was on a guest list actually meant something, so I didn’t have to wait. I did get a drink this time, and it was $ 12 the first time…$ 11 the second time for the same drink, but they were strong. Overall, I had a good time. The place itself could use some re-working on the décor, lighting, and ear-splitting sound system, but if they keep the music going the way it is, I will come back.

I was here for a B-day party, and the crowd was pretty dead on a Sat. night. It was good company and the table service was nice, but drinks were bleh and place just wasn’t all that impressive. They had an import model on stage and walking around giving body shots which made it a tad more interesting for our birthday boy, but I dread my next visit

the best part of this night club is the pizza place next door. what the hell is it called? i need to review the pizza place. dood, i came back to LA and looked at my credit card bill and i spent over $ 80 on drinks at opera and i could swear the only way i got drunk that night was cuz we swiped some grey goose that was lying around some table next to us. the barack o’ bhangra event was cool, though. could have used more bhangra music but oh well. what is that pizza place next door called? someone message me. thanks!

I had fun at Opera, but I think that had more to do with the company I was with than the venue. Opera was hosting a «white party» that night. cover was $ 10, which isn’t bad, but they charged my friend $ 15 because he was wearing a white striped shirt(we even went back to change for the damn event!) Dance floor wasn’t packed either… guy/girl ratio was well. not good for the guys who were there. My group probably boosted that ratio pretty well(4 girls… 1 guy) but we got a lot of unwanted attention because of that. Sometimes I think guys don’t understand that girls sometimes go clubbing to «just dance», with no intention of dancing/hooking up with them. 3 of us were already spoken for, and the last girl. well, she had fun with the guys there at least. Some of the guys simply couldn’t take«NO» for an answer, bordering on stalkerish(even after we left) and that was mildly frustrating. That’s true at any club with drunk guys so I won’t hold it against Opera. Drinks are REALLY expensive. After I ordered 2 shots of patron and it came out to $ 36($ 15 + $ 3 automatic tip), I didn’t drink anything else for the rest of the night. Honestly, does a bartender deserve to earn an automatic $ 6 in tips just for glancing at us and pouring two shots??? Ridiculous…

Definitely not as nice as it looks on website. It’s a cool place with poppin music and flashy lights but it looks pretty plain to command cover. The bar area is a little bit more classy but you won’t notice unless you got a table. In addition the drinks are overpriced like no other, $ 20 a pop and they add tips automatically, straight bullshit.

By far the WORST club ever. Overpriced drinks that charge you tax, cover to get in when it’s more like a Jersey Shore club, and horrible horrible music and beaming lights. This is Webster Hall like for the 21+, with the CRAPPY music.

I like this new spot, in the Times Square area. The customer service is great, from the friendly doorman, as long as you are walking in with either a hot group of friends heavy with gorgeous women, or you looking to flash your credit card to get a table and do bottle service. You walk in the room and the detail begins with opera symphonies filling in the corridor & staircase. Beautiful chandeliers, opera posters, candelabras, and sexy lighting set the mood. As you walk into the place you are taken away by the grand ballroom, in the background is a balcony where you can have the vip views of the entire venue. Great music and a swanky crowd fill Opera. The waitresses are stunning and provide some more eye candy to an already delicious night spot. This is a definte — must attend!
