Do not let your boyfriend order the sesame chicken. Worst dish on the menu. Sauce is no where near on point and chicken was over fried. Phở was okay, nothing special but definitely better than sesame chicken.

Dined here on a Sunday night, not very crowded — a very neat place for vietnamese food compared to the ones around this area Ordered: 1. grilled pork and spring rolls bun(cold noodles) $ 8.50 2. Combo beef phở(soup noodle) $ 8.50 for medium 3, Shredded pork wrapped with rice paper $ 6 My favorite was the grilled pork bun — the grilled pork was really really good, and the noodles are also really good One star taken off because — when I got home, I got very very thirsty for the whole night, it might be the spring roll, but it made me really uncomfortable Service was awesome, might go back

I used to come here all the time. Some of the staff might remember me, I’m the Vietnamese girl who usually eat alone. Today I saw a family sat opposite to me and the woman ordered crispy fried noodles. When it came out, it was not what she wanted, so she asked the server. Instead of properly explained to her or suggested for a change of another dish(maybe she mistaken that noodles to the lo-mein one), the server just rudely argued with her that was crispy noodles. So she ended up didn’t finish the dish but to pay the check asap. I ordered a bowl of veggie phở today. The soup came out great as I expected, but I can tell the noodle was too plain, tasted like it was not cooked properly. Trust me, I’m Vietnamese and I know how to cook Phở, I can tell how long do you have to leave the noodles in hot water to make it completely cooked. I ordered one papaya shrimp salad to go. When the old man gave me the order, his hand was wet and the plastic bag was a little wet too. I smelled fish sauce and asked them for an additional plastic bag. But when I got home, I realized fish sauce are everywhere within the plastic bag, made me wonder did they really close the box properly. I might not go there again.

Good space and good location in the heart of Chinatown! Food is good but I give it a 3 star because their food is extremely salty

Me and my h0miez tried this place out after we saw our original intended spot for the night was too packed. It looked clean, tidy, and empty. We were seated promptly. Our server was kind and friendly but service was slow and lacking. The restaraunt wasn’t too busy either. We ordered 6 plates and they came out all at different times. We ate a plate, and had to wait for the next. The pork chops were tender, the salt and pepper squid was delicious, and the cubed beef was tender and flavorful. The Pad Thai was a bit off. sort of like ketchup disguised as noodles. Wouldn’t come again, not very distinct from your ago average Chinese restaraunt. But please note that I didn’t have anything particularly viet.

My go-to Vietnamese restaurant in the area. Try the beef stew noodles or the grilled pork lunch special. Tasty. Enough to fill your hungry stomach. The noodles soup dishes are good and most are under $ 10 for the medium size. I’m a frequent diner.

Absolutely love the food here. The phở is soooo delicious and the service is great. I’ve been here on weekends and weekdays and I must say the quality of the food is always the same. Very authentic. This place rocks hands down.

Not a bad place. The portions are right. Egg rolls were great. The Vietnamese beer(33 Export) tastes pretty good. The chicken on my noodles didn’t. That was(Fried Egg Noodle w. Vegetables in curry sauce & choice of chicken). The chicken was dry and tasteless. The noodles and veggies were alrght. Not the best tasting Vietnamese food I’ve tried but not bad either.

On Baxter street, there is a row of three Vietnamese restaurants all with great food. Pasteur seemed to have the nicest atmosphere so we chose to eat there. The papaya salad had a generous helping of fresh shrimp and a mild, but flavorful taste. The phở with eggs, pork, and shrimp was the highlight of the meal with a sweet, but not overly so taste. The sautéed shrimp and crab meat with asparagus was good, but a little greasy for my taste. The prices were beyond fair, for three we spent no more than $ 40 for a huge meal.

It is rare to find an authentic Vietnamese restaurant these days in NYC. Not only does the restaurant have great dishes, but the place is also very clean! I ate the phở burger, and just loved it. Will definitely come back here again.

Hands down on of my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown. I would always bring my Korean friend here whenever we come to Chinatown because he refuses to try other phở restaurants after trying this place. One dish that we always order is the bbq pork chop. The pork chop is always cooked perfectly. Although the pork chop is already marinated, to enhance the flavor, we would always add jalapeños. The service is wonderful and the prices are reasonable

Probably the newest(and cleanest) of the row of Vietnamese restaurants on this block of Baxter street. Their version of dishes tend to be sweeter than the average, so as long as you’re okay with that, the food here is pretty good. The spring rolls here are great, with a very nice crisp and crunch to them. We ordered some sort of saucy fried calamari dish, and that was very solid as well. For my own dish, I had the chicken with lemongrass over rice. The sauce on this and the calamari dish were sweeter than your typical Vietnamese restaurant. It was a refreshing difference, but I wouldn’t say i prefer it.

Great service but the food was mediocre at best. I ordered P1 and the girlfriend ordered the«clay pot» for $ 12.50. DONOTORDERTHECLAYPOT. The«clay pot» is a TOTALRIPOFF: 1) It was NOT a «clay pot» but was small metal tin pot and its comes WITHOUT rice(they charged me an extra $ 1.50 for the rice — seriously?) Don’t advertise CLAYPOT if its not a clay pot. 2) I ordered the P1 Phở. Sure it tasted great… until I saw a BUG/FLY in my PHO. I immediately called the manager and he was nice enough to ask me if I wanted a replacement bowl. I could not eat anymore after seeing that so I said no so he crossed the Phở off the check. Vietnamese coffee was OK. They didn’t bring me the hot water for the hot Vietnamese coffee — I had to ask for it. Nice newly renovated décor but you can’t hide from the poor food quality and cheap portions. Tons of other Vietnamese restaurants in Chinatown, you guys have to do better. Never again, I’ll pass. GG

Clean and authentically Vietnamese. They have phở — but best of all I love my grilled quail. They do it very week. Tasty and moist — not dry.

Walking around baxter street you see a lot of vietnamese restaurants and bail bond places; long and behold you are wakking down the street and the building next door(tall building across from reataurant) is a city jail… Getting back to the food. I having the grilled pork chop over rice which comes with a tender grilled pork chop, infused with garlic and sweet soy sauce. Let me just say that this is pork heaven when you have it. The plate has a small salad of carrots, cucumber, tomato and pickled radish. They also serve a clear sauce which i believe is a mixture of vinager and fish sauce which is supposed to be poured over the chop to enhance the taste of the pork. If i could i eat here everyday. Honest truth is that i have been coming here since the late 80’s and this joint is as good as it gets when you are in chinatown.

Very mediocre Vietnamese restaurant. I came here with a group of 4 and ended up getting phở all around(p1 and p2), which was alright in terms of the noodles but the beef slices were really thick and tough. The broth was decently flavored but definitely needed some of the oyster sauce and sriracha to have a decent flavor. We also got a honeydew bubble tea, and the tapioca balls weren’t fully cooked through so it wasn’t chewy, and felt like I was chewing through starch cubes. The bubble tea itself tasted like melona ice cream but was also kind of powdery.

Baxter Street is so full of vietnamese restaurants. So far this one has been the best. The restaurant can be packed during lunch time and the wait time for take outs can be long too. I was quoted 20 minutes for an order of Bun Rieu. Therefore, make sure you have enough time to dine in and call ahead for take out. No many vietnamese restaurants make bun rieu, the one here is not the most authentic compared to the ones ive had but its still good. They have clam(frozen not fresh), imitation crab meat, tofu, tomato and the egg/shrimp patties instead of crab. The soup base is very flavorful but can be a tad salty at times. The signature beef flank cube with rice is my favorite here. The sweet and sour chichenn is not good.

We were in the area looking for lunch and didn’t want to walk too far so we decided on Pasteur. It’s relatively new in the area so we thought we would try it out! We were seated immediately and given tea + menus. They have a lunch special menu with regular dishes running between $ 7-$ 10, which is more expensive than the other Viet restaurants on the block but they are MUCH cleaner and nicer. We were never rushed out and our food arrived in a very timely manner. We started off with the Summer Rolls, which I liked. I usually don’t like Summer Rolls at anywhere else besides Phở Grand because they’re the only peanut sauce I like but I was pleasantly surprised by the sauce at Pasteur. I had the Grilled Chicken over Rice, which was super juicy! I didn’t even need the sauce. I liked the cooked scallion over the chicken too because it tasted amazing on top of the rice. They also do ice cream here — it might sound pricey when looking at the menu but they don’t skimp on the portions here at all. The ice cream was at least 2 – 3 scoops. The chicken was also a very large portion. The prices are higher than the other places on the block but I think it’s worth it for a better eating environment.

Weekday lunch Renovated Pasteur restaurant. Phở with pork knuckles(#11/$ 9) The red broth looked spicy but it was mild so I added garlic chilli sauce(Sambal Oelek) and Sriracha — it is so tasty that overpowered any meal and didn’t work with me. I added Sambal Oelek then, I added Hoisin sauce for more flavor and sweetness. It was well balanced flavored soup, heat, sweetness, and brightness from fresh lime with scent of fresh basil, for me. Squeezing fresh lime at end is a must. Meaty pork knuckles were not greasy and gamy. I really like what they had done to the space. It is airy and the big French windows with a black frame makes the space more like café but with seasoned Asian waiters, it is a Vietnamese but a bistro like.
