They are now«Phở Saigon» in Murray Hill at 9871st Avenue, New York, NY10022. They have a very similar menu and it’s the same family that ran Phở Viet Huong. Hope this helps all Unilocalers find the new«Phở Viet Huong.» The place is about 1⁄3 the size of the previous location, and weekday lunch can really result in slow service, but it’s the still lovely people that ran the place before. Wife and I love it!

—- THISPLACEISCLOSED. ITWILLBEREPLACEDWITH A NEWVIETNAMESERESTAURANT — — This is my favorite viet spot. The food here is the reason why i started liking viet food and believe me I have given ever locals favorite vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown and in other boroughs, but i still coming back here because they make their food way better. I love their appetizers, especially their crêpe and BBQ pork«summer» rolls. I believe i tried more than half of the appetizers on their menu, anything without shrimp, and they are all bomb, ESPECIALLYTHERICECREPES! Their phở is awesome, good broth and good meat. I also enjoyed their chicken noodle soup and spring roll over vermicelli. Their fish sauce is awesome, makes a big difference in the food.

Well, there goes another usual spot turned to dust. If you’re not familiar, it’s closed its doors earlier last month. Yet another reminder that life is fleeting. Oh well. What can you do? Actually, that’s not my true sentiment. My friends and I have been coming here for so many years we’ve even forgot the actual name of the restaurant. We used to just call it «Old Lady» because of the adorable old hostess who’s terrible English reminded us of our own backgrounds. I might just go hug my mom after this review. Anywho, it wasn’t a spectacular Vietnamese restaurant, nor was it your regular run of the mill Phở Fix(Huh, list title anyone?). I remember their grilled chicken made my best friend a believer in Vietnamese food. Granted, he had no disposition prior but it left him the impression that that was the best grilled food he’ll ever taste. While we’re on the subject, I feel like Vietnamese grilled food is highly underrated. Take my word for it(a complete stranger) Vietnamese grilled food is the best Asian grilled cuisine. Side side note: Filipino barbecue is the best Asian barbecue cuisine. I dare anyone to challenge me! Anyways, back to business: despite most Viet foods tasting all the same, I’ve noticed that the Calamari tastes different in every restaurant. Old Lady’s was easily my favorite. And probably the most heart tickling part, some of their employees were mentally disabled. Sure, that has no bearings on the food but it’s so nice to see someone extend this much compassion. Also, the waiter laughed at me as he handed me the plunger when I clogged the toilet. I thought that was cool, in a casual employee to regular customer relationship.

I have not tried too many Vietnamese sit down restaurants. However, I thought this one was very good. I had the pork chop. It was a little dry in some parts of it but still decent. Of course, you need to try the Vietnamese spring rolls if you eat at a Vietnamese restaurant. They are very good here. For my list of great Asian restaurants and food spots, please see:

Me and my collegue went here because the other restaurant was too full to get in. And we’ll never go here again. The star is for the food. It was quite good and really cheap. But otherwise it was a terrible experience. We were sitted to a rounded table which looks like it wasn’t cleaned. Sticks and spoons were thrown carelessly on the table. Then a lady came and brought us a teapot. She spoke only in single words, didn’t greet us and didn’t smile at us at all, even though we tried to be nice. Then I ordered water and my friend a beer. They didn’t bring him his beer. Without words they took away the teapot and bring another one with water. Like what the hell? We ordered phở and it was good. But they didn’t bring us any cutleries and when we asked, the waitress pointed to the ones already on the table! Yes, they were probably washed, but how should I know? We waited long time after finishing food and nobody came to ask us if we want sth else or we want to pay. For me, I’ll never go here again. There are plenty other better restaurants around.

Went here on the recommendation of a local worker at the hair salon. We passed by because of the«B» sanitation grade in the window, but after getting this recommendation, we wanted to give it a try. The facility was just as clean as any, the décor was pleasant. There were several business men with suits and ties that had stopped in for lunch — suppose they walked there from the federal and state government buildings. Service was slow. We where there about 2:00pm, and the restaurant was not full. It seemed to us that there was only one old guy taking orders, attending to needs and bringing the check, and he was very singular minded. He’d attend to one task at a time, walking back and forth from kitchen, to front of house, to tables. I had to wave him down to get our order taken, and again to have the check brought, because he wasn’t «looking for customers that needed him». There were 2 – 3 other guys in black shirts busing tables and bringing out foods. Yet none of them seemed able(willing) to take orders or bring the check. Not sure if this is standard procedure, or just a slow day. I had the rice dish with grilled pork, shredded pork and egg patty. It was just OK. The pork was average, and it was chopped through the bones, so I had to dig small bone fragments from my mouth. The egg patty was acceptable, but I’ve had better. The shredded pork was tasty. My wife had a pork and vermicelli dish. I think she considered her’s average also. Not bad tasting, just not something to write home about. Of note, I ordered the Soda Chanh(limeade) and they gave me the full can of soda water. That was generous and I appreciate it(although, once the lime and sugar in my drink is gone, adding more soda doesn’t do much to bring back the flavors.) Giving it 2-stars because I’ve had better in NYC and other cities. It wasn’t bad, but given the average-ness of the food, and slow service, I’ll probably not be visiting there again. Not recommending.

I am downgrading this place to 3. These days, they have like 1 hr and 30 mins to get delivered. One time, they messed up my order and gave me more food. I called them to come pick up and they showed up an hr later. I like their food but I’m not willing to go through all the trouble associated with it. So… yeah… no more phở from this place for me.

The phở is delicious! Get the bigger bowl if you’re hungry. Add that lime, jalapeño, basil leaf, bean sprouts, and eat with sriracha and oyster sauce. Leave room to eat the soup; I always feel like it’s such a waste when people leave the soup, because that’s where all the flavor goes to. Also, the meat tends to hide under the noodles, so don’t fret if it seems like there isn’t much meat at first sight. It’s a great meal, especially on a cold day. Pretty clean for Chinatown. Accepts CREDITCARDS!

Definitely the place you want to come to if you’re near Columbus park on a chilly day. Cha gio is a must as well as phô!! If you’re a coffee lover, please order the ice coffee, I promise you won’t regret it! If not, their fresh lemonade is always a classic favorite. Warmer days order the bun mee sandwich! :)

The older lady who works here is super cute and nice(I think she’s the owner?). I’d eat here just to support her business, but good thing the food is yummy too. Summer rolls and the peanut sauce are good. And the Bun Bo Hue is flavorful, but not overbearing with spiciness. I substitute tofu for the meat and they are very accommodating unlike other places. And they’re not stingy with it either. In sum, big menu, great service, and good cheap food so it’s a no brainer to eat here.

My fiancée and I came here for lunch while roaming around Chinatown. I got the rice dish with carmelized shrimp and a BBQ pork chop and she got s rice dish with a beef patty. Both were quite good. All in all not a bad little spot.

I used to come here more often before when my friends and I would come down to Chinatown for a cheap meal and hit a few spots. Phở is always good and so are the usual fare in Vietnamese restaurants.

3.75 Came here this past Wednesday for dinner with some friends. This place has some decent stuff. Everything came out in minutes. Although I don’t think they’re their produce is the best selection(the mint was small and skimpy and their lettuce was limpy), the soup and the egg rolls were all really good. The CHAGIO were fat, meaty and crunchy. I could have used a few more slices of rare beef in my soup, but hey, they can’t please everyone.

I was in Chinatown to try Bo Ky, but the service there scared me off. My friend and I went running to the next restaurant we saw: Phở Viet Huong. The first thing I noticed was the«B» in the window, but we were so hungry at that point, a B was no deterrent. The atmosphere at Phở Viet Huong is not bad at all, as it is very clean and has glass-topped tablecloths at every table. From the large selection of phở, Martha and I both ordered Phở Tai Chin Nam, which comes in one size at $ 6.25. Unfortunately, it took 18 minutes to get our food. Phở shouldn’t take that long, especially when the restaurant is not very crowded. After the long wait, I hoped to be blown away by the phở. I wasn’t. The broth was light, clear, and good, though nothing special. The noodles were in a big clump and slightly on the firm side, but the biggest disappointment was the meat. There were supposed to be three different kinds, and I wasn’t finding them. The rare steak was piled on top and nicely pink in the middle, but I really had to dig for the others. The well-done steak was small and a bit dry, and the brisket was an unappetizing strip of fat with a sliver of meat. There were probably just two pieces of each. It was a pretty bare-bones bowl of phở. Not much cilantro or onion was used, both of which would have brought more flavor. For Martha, cilantro is the key to making phở taste good, so she asked for some on the side. Once we added that, it tasted better. SImply stated, it was mediocre, nothing special, and not worth coming back for. You’d think this would have been a great meal just because we were so hungry, but not even hunger could properly season this phở. One of my favorite Vietnamese places in Chinatown. This is always my number one go-to location. It’s always hard to order something besides the noodle soup, pork chop over rice and spring rolls but they’re so good! Lunch is always awesome. One time I came here for dinner and I think they were on an off night or there was a different chef because it wasn’t up to their usual style. I’ve been a fan of this place for years. I tried their Vietnamese sandwich and house special rice which was awesome. It has a little bit of everything and gives you a variety of vegetables and meat over rice. The restaurant is pretty spacious and service is good. The noodle soup is never too salty and the spring rolls are nice and hot. I’ll keep coming back to this place!

Blech! The only reason this place gets two stars is because of the intestines stir fry! My dad has business cards laying around his apt of this place, so I was in Chinatown with my mom and my niece and wanted to get some viet food. My mom asked the lady she knows that owns that grocery store across the street which restaurant we should go and eat. The lady said, well there’s this viet restaurant phở viet huong, which is more authentic but your kids won’t like it(what? talking about me? do people not know i eat pigs brain and coagulated blood and i won’t like what? phở? eggrolls? wth) So anyways, my mom tells her ok we’ll go there. So we head there, we sit down. I wantttt banh xeo, ruoc heo xao, cha gio. My mom ordered phở and suon nuong. But when I ordered the ruoc heo(pigs intenstines), the old lady waitress looks at my mom and says, «oh she won’t like that». What is wrong with people?! They kept saying it. Why can’t she tell me? That’s two different people so far. Anyways, my mom says yes she eats everything just give her an order of that. So they bring the food, and they say ok «ruoc heo is here, where should I put it.» I say over here(in front of me), and they look at me and say«oh do you know what this is? you won’t like it.» and they put it in front of my mom. Do you want me to not like it!!! 3rd person. And don’t get their coffee it tastes like espresso burnt to a crisp with cigarette ashes mixed together in it, worst coffee ever.

2 stars… this is how a 4 star restaurant becomes 2 Stars. 1. We arrive, and are promptly seated. The restaurant is about half full. We are given a menu, and my friend orders a summer roll, and shrimp paste on sugar cane, and an avocado milkshake. 2. The summer roll is prompt and delicious. Simply divine! Shrimp with bean sprouts and carrots and baby Spinach. Wrapped with a rice paper pancake, with peanut sauce on the side. 3. We also ordered an avocado milk shake… oh my heavens! It is prompting me to find the recipe, lightly sweetened, and a slight avocado flavor. 4. We ordered shrimp paste on sugar cane. Atleast so we thought. And there was a long wait. I shop fast, and I can attest the wait was as long as it took me to go from store to store in most of Times Square. ½ hour later, we asked, and saw the owner ask about the order. And waited another ½ hour. And we asked the owner, who we were certain turned in our order. Another ½ hour goes by, and we ask again. 5. About 15 minutes after this ordeal, the shrimp paste on sugar cane arrives… delectable. I found out how to make it. The sauce is near what Blue Koi in Kansas City calls Awesome Sauce. Wonderful! It took nearly an hour and 45 minutes for a shrimp paste on sugar cane to arrive at our table! Then the check finally came. Now, I am pleased I ate there. Very pleased, but I could’ve visited all of Chinatown and Little Italy, and Soho by the time it took to get the order to our table. Very glad I ate there, but not a stop and go type of place. Will not go there again, and that’s a shame, but the service took too long.

I’ve tried 4 different appetizers and 4 different entrees, each item was a solid 4 star experience in terms of taste and preparation and presentation and service. Such reliable fast service! Such distinct memorable flavors! Such generous fresh portions! My favorite dish so far has been the«Bò lá lt» *(BBQ Beef in Grape Leaves with Spicy Fish Sauce) — so very charred chewy crunchy succulent tender moist zesty! These things, to me, are highly addictive… I also loved their Spring Rolls, which I would say are pretty much exceptional, in that when I’ve ordered these in many other places, they are always either too greasy or soggy, too large or too small, etc. — these, however, are just right, perfectly crisp and robust without any feeling of guilt… The broth for both types of Phở we ordered was also just right, not salty or murky or sugary or excessive in any way, but also not lacking in any way — plus it was a very good sign when we placed the leftovers in the refrigerator overnight and they didn’t congeal like most places do, meaning there are no fillers preservatives thickeners. I highly recommend Phở Viet Huong, and cannot wait to return.

It was delicious, a clean and cozy place, and people were very friendly!
