This was a superior meal from the start. It was a surprise party and we started with meatballs(superb) portebello mushrooms on salad(terrific) and then had spinach Bolognese pasta(perfect) a cavitelli and then a main skirt steak(great) Bread was terrific and the deserts panacotta(best ever) chocolate(great) and a few others. wine and service top notch. Small intimate restaurant. No negatives

I don’t venture to the West Village much, but I’m so glad I did and I’m so glad I found this restaurant. Wow, what a fantastic hidden gem. I love Italian and these guys nail it. And, and extremely reasonable prices. Would highly recommend.

I started with the sea bass ravioli and got the white bean ravioli for my entrée. They were both really good. I also love the white bean bruschetta they served at the start of the meal.

We enjoyed our Italian dinner. I haven’t been here for a few years. They still have the beans on baguettes for the table after you order which I like. They use my favorite bread and they have rearranged their tables more logically creating more space than before without adding square footage. The Italian food here is nice and simple and prepared fresh.

Great restaurant week menu! Split food with my husband, and so we got to try 6 things! Started with the soppressate and the sea bass ravioli. The soppressate really just tasted like regular salami. I didn’t detect any sweetness or spiciness, but it was still good. The sea bass ravioli was in such a rich, hearty tomato sauce. It was so fresh and yummy. We had the fettuccine with pork ragu and skate. The fettuccine portion was very generous. The lemon caper sauce in the skate dish was delish! For dessert we shared the bread pudding and the ricotta gelato with pear and amaretto saronno. The bread pudding was too soft and had too many currents for my liking. The ricotta gelato was awesome. It was sweet and creamy and had a tart bite to it. Loved the ambiance of this place. It’s small, simple, and very village –like. Great place to come when you want to actually hear the people you’re with.

I give it four stars for the food and the service. However we had a slight problem… We were finishing up our meal when six or seven of the bar tender’s friends came in. The bar tender stood behind our table and said annoyingly to our lovely waitress that«We need this table so this group can sit down». She was embarrassed and told us to take our time and don’t rush but we were very offended by this guy.

Best authentic Italian food in this tiny hole in the wall. Really great service. The waitresses know a lot about the food and what to suggest to order.

every dish here is just U N B E L I E V A B L E !! Po is a cozy and intimate little restaurant in the west village. Friendly and warm service. You can order any dish on the menu and it won’t disappoint. Perfect for intimate dinner whether special occasion or not… Beer and wine only.

Solid meal from beginning to end. The pasta vongole was so rich and flavorful. Every dish was just perfectly prepared… Definitely not your run of the mill italian restaurant.

Po is a solid 4 star Unilocal restaurant. It’s the type of place that when you don’t want to go try a new place in the area you can always count on them to deliver quality, tasty food for a reasonable Manhattan price. I recently went with my family here(we’ve been many times, but before I started to Unilocal) and I enjoyed my dinner as always. I started off with white bean bruschetta which they already give you to start off with complimentary but I ordered more because it was so delicious. After that, my main entrée was the cavatelli with broccoli which, if I’m not mistaken, I’ve gotten every time I’ve gone there because they make it so well. It’s made with breadcrumbs so it tastes buttery and delicious. Both of the people I was with got the porcini crusted cod I believe which I thought was pretty good. Not the best fish you’ll ever have but solid nonetheless. With all the good things Po does it could use some change. The place across the street was packed on a Sunday night while po was mostly empty and there could be a few reasons why: the décor isn’t exactly the best. It’s not ugly but maybe they could use some sort of focal point to bring the ambience together; it’s all sort of bland decoration wise. And of course the most important thing: they never change their menu. I went to po once and then returned the NEXTYEAR and remembered every single thing on that menu because it was the same. People will stop going if it’s always the same! Even though they have specials it’s good for a restaurant to at least change some dishes every season on their actual menu. Regardless of these things po is still a solid place to go and I would recommend it to anyone!

Had a late lunch at Po yesterday. I had the last serving of grilled chicken and my husband had the orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage. We started with grilled vegetables and a pear salad. Of course there was a bottle if red wine for refreshment and topped off the meal with espresso. Eaten here many, many times. Such a treat. The atmosphere is cozy and the people there, staff and clientele, make you feel like you live in the neighborhood. It was wonderful!

If I could give 10 stars I would. It’s so small and cute it reminded of being back in Europe. The white bean bruschetta was so delicious. Real ingredients and flavor. We ordered the Barolo wine. You can never go wrong with a Barolo and it’s worth paying for. Each of our entrees were so delicious. The spinach Ragu, pork chop with cabbage, Guinea hen, and the clam pasta. Being a chef I appreciate when something blows my taste buds. I went into the kitchen to thank them and buy them a round of drinks but they ended up treating me to a shot. Great memory for taste buds and my heart. If you haven’t been here then GET.TO.IT. They nailed the northern Italian cuisine.

Excellent place for high quality Italian food. The restaurant is small, so is the menu. I like small menu because it’s a sign of high quality control. We had the salmon, meatball, and Orecchiette. Salmon was crusted on the outside but very soft on the inside and fresh. Meatball was one of the best I had. And Orecchiette was flavorful and filling. Highly recommend

The best! Had dinner last night here @Po in the West Village… We absolutely loved everything! The flavors were unreal! Started off with a Po Royale and some red wine. Bread is from Sullivan St Bakery, the best in NYC An app of Mussels & Clams in a red sauce to die for with a touch of mint. The flavor was like no other., almost fra diavlo w/mint! Beet & Carrot Salad… Julienne style with feta, pistachios & a light balsamic. Yummmmmmmmm Spinach Fettucini Bolognese… Light & absolutely delicious!!! Their Special… Red Snapper… Crisp & mouth watering over cherry tomatoes, crisp greens & light broth. Couldn’t have enough of it! A side of corn… Prepared with Acini Pasta & lemon. OMG. No words Desserts were just as fantastic… Po Sundae, mint gelato, nuts, chocolate fudge. Affegato, coffee gelato, cappuccino… Too amazing to detail. Po is our new favorite! The wait staff, incl Peter, couldn’t have been more friendly & accommodating! A wonderful experience! To be repeated!!!

I had bookmarked this place awhile ago and finally got to go for dinner this past Monday with my boyfriend. We made reservations for 7:30pm and were seated right away. While the restaurant is certainly cozy and romantic, the food was just alright. I’m glad I crossed this off my bookmarks, but I probably wouldn’t return as there are hundreds of other Italian restaurants in the city to try! Appetizers: Mixed green salad: boyfriend had and said it was fine. Grilled portobello salad: pretty good. The portobello was cooked just right and was quite sizable. Entrees: Tagliatelle with pork/veal/beef ragu: meh. It was just okay to me, but I also just spent a week in Bologna which is known for tagliatelle ragu… Grilled pork chop: came with mostly fat, but pretty tasty nonetheless. The braised cabbage was very good and along with the cranberry sauce, the three went well together. Dessert: Dark chocolate terrine: the way the waitress described this, it sounded interesting but wasn’t very good. We both didn’t like it because the almond was too overpowering and we didn’t taste any caramel flavor. Service: we didn’t get our order taken till nearly 45 minutes in — no one came to check in. Our waitress also never told us about the specials of the night, but we overheard her tell the table next to us.

Came here with a friend on a random weekday night around 7pm and had no trouble getting a table for 2, even without a reservation. After we placed our orders, we received some complimentary Bruschetta with white beans, which was a nice surprise! The beans were super tender, and it tasted amazing. For the main course, I ordered the Linguini Vongole. The dish had plenty of clams and was very flavorful, although it was also ever so slightly saltier than what I usually prefer. My friend got the Spinach Tagliatelle with Ragu Bolognese; she was craving a hearty meat sauce, and she said that this hit the spot. I snuck a bite as well and would definitely agree! In an attempt to add some greens to our meal, we also got a side order of Broccoli Rabe with Toasted Garlic and Breadcrumbs. It was cooked perfectly and well-seasoned, and I was very glad we ordered it to complement the heaviness of the pasta.

Decent food. Very safe, lacking imagination, but pretty good nevertheless. We went there for lunch, so the menu was somewhat limited. My wife’s braised duck papardelle was perfectly executed, although heavy, while my homemade sausage was solid, but not stellar. The wines by the glass selection is very very limited. There was one problem that needs to be addressed. We were one of the three tables. Two of us, two guys by the window, and one person across the floor from us. We sat 4 tables away from the back and could hear everything that goes on in the kitchen. All«coños», «pendejos», and«cabrons» coming loud and clear throughout the dining room. We came for a $ 180 Saturday daytime meal, not a paper box snack from the truck on Roosevelt Ave in Jackson Heights. May I suggest some insulation or music? I’ve never been to Po when it was the restaurant that launched Mario Batali’s illustrious TV career(with dabbling in restaurant business). This day, it’s definitely not a restaurant that could bring anyone’s attention to its chef, but a worthy place to visit anyway.

I enjoyed a nice meal at this quaint Italian restaurant in the West Village. My friend in NY highly recommended this place and made a dinner reservation for Friday night. It was packed and quite loud. It definitely had a local feel to it. Good mix of groups of folks, couples, friends, etc. The meal started off with the white bean bruschetta which was delicious. We ordered a bottle of red wine which was pretty good. Then I ordered the orecchiette, sweet sausage ragu & broccoli rabe. It was a very yummy handmade pasta. Overall great experience despite the loud atmosphere. Would definitely come again.

An excellent restaurant, both from a service perspective as well as food. Bread with cannelloni beans made a nice starter. Also the fennel salad is an expert choice. I went with the cod which was delicious. One of the best I have had. I had it without the porcini mushrooms as not a fan. The skirt steak is a favourite and did not disappoint. The portions were just right. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Cozy little date spot with decent Italian. I really liked the atmosphere of Po and the way it is tucked off Cornelia St. I don’t think the food is all that memorable for the price though, so I can’t say it would make it into my rotation of places to go. There were small things that shouldn’t be that difficult to pull off(gf ordered a side of red sauce that took 15 minutes), that sort of result in a middle of the road experience based on the price. Like I said, I did like this place, but the price begets the rating.
