Very sorry to find out you had closed — my wife is gluten free and we visited often. Your standouts, in our opinions, were the risotto with hot peppers and the gluten free red velvet cupcakes. Really, it was all about the cupcakes. We thank you for having such great food for so long and best wishes.

I was on a gluten free diet recently and found this place on Unilocal. The gluten free bread sticks are good, although they kind of remind me of gold fish crackers. Either way, not a terrible experience. I ordered the penne pasta special and my boyfriend ordered the risotto special of the night. Both were equally appetizing. The place is beyond tiny but I would def recommend trying out.

Located in west village — awesome spot! Grissini is so good! Three of us got risotto, one of us got the salad. The mushroom risotto is worth noting, we cleared our plates right away! Service is great, cozy place and awesome food! $ 20 per person for risotto

I eat everything in sight so I really didn’t care about the fact that this place is gluten-free, but I want to give some major props to the chef for making such bangin’ risotto that just so happens to be gluten-free! There were a variety of risotto options so I asked the waitress for her recommendation, which has shrimp, sausage, mozzarella, saffron, and tomato. I went with that, and let me tell you, it was a decision that I was extremely pleased with! We got a very generous serving of risotto; mine was cheesy, meaty, shrimpy, aka it was absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed every single bite, and was really sad to finish it. It’s actually hard to believe that risotto this good is gluten-free! The total bill for 2 risottos was about 45 bucks — yes, it’s kind of on the steep end, but you’ll leave the restaurant with a happy tummy. Our waitress was very attentive(props to mine for the stellar recommendation); overall, a small/casual place, so expect communal seating. Also, there are no public bathrooms so go easy on the alcohol there!

Visited here a few months ago(yes, I’m a little behind) with my mother(celiac) and my brother. None of us were in the mood for drink drinks, so we decided to just stick with the lemonade, and it was delicious! The gluten free bread sticks were really good, so good that the next week my mother tried to recreate them at home. We used the chebe pizza crust mix if anyone is curious! My brother got a salad, which from what I can remember was decent. I don’t think it was out of this world, but let’s be honest, what salad is. My mom ordered something gluten free, which she absolutely loved. Talked about it the entire subway ride home. I got risotto with shrimp and scallops and maybe spinach? It was good! My favorite thing about this place is that the food comes out hot. I don’t mean like warm, but like piping hot, which means it stays hot throughout the entire meal. I would come back, I suppose, mostly if I were with my mom, but by myself? Probably not. It just wasn’t my favorite atmosphere. But for someone who needs to eat gluten free, and someone who loves risotto… this place is for you!

Six years ago I looked into a school and could barely eat do to celiac disease and little information. Risotteria was there to shed a light on my life. Great food, safe food, and great service.

Wonderful risotto and so many choices. Yes, they have beer and wine as well. We had a terrific dinner. «Appetizer» salads are big enough to share. The thin crust pizzas looked so good I’m going back for one next time. This is a unique neighborhood spot that is worth any distance trip to get here. Highly recommended.

I took the chance and ordered the gorgonzola walnut risotto. The portion was decent for the price. I asked for more parmesan and pepper because why not? So what is gorgonzola? It’s similar to blue cheese. I also had the tres leche cake and it was overwhelmingly sweet. I can handle sweet but this was like eating sugar from the bag sweet. We received free bread sticks right away! They know how to please me! This restaurant is very small so if you are claustrophobic, I do not recommend coming here. The tiny bathroom is located downstairs. Service was great! The waiter was very social.

This place makes my gluten-free risotto-loving heart so so happy. Having celiac isn’t easy, but this restaurant makes it feel easier. The breadsticks are 100% as good as everyone else says they are. My boyfriend was shocked that they were gluten free! They’re not dry and somehow, they combine the right amount of crunchiness on the outside and softness on the inside. And the risotto, well, it makes my sargento recipe homemade risotto something I don’t know if I’ll even be able to eat again. I loved both the garlic, arugula, and tomato one and the asparagus and saffron. My boyfriend didn’t stray from the Italian sausage and portobello either time we visited, and he claimed it was«way» better than either of mine. Although I didn’t try anything other than the risotto, I appreciated the variety of pizzas and paninis too! I was skeptical before coming here. I thought, «how good can a risotto restaurant really be?» But seriously, now I’m hooked! I ate here TWICE during my four-day trip to New York, and you can bet I’ll be back whenever I’m in town again. Risotteria, I love you. Thanks for being so good at gluten free and so good at risotto.

This was one of the first places I went when I became gluten free, and it is truly a double edge sword. The place is TINY! So don’t expect to have any type of private conversation or be able to fit in a seat if you’re slightly over 200 lbs. You are started with gluten free breadsticks which are delicious! They have a wide variety of gluten free alcohol(especially beer). The food service is quite slow and WAY over priced. For 2 plates of risotto, it was $ 60?! I could make it at home for cheaper. The gluten free panini was delicious, I could eat them every day. I would only go back here if another gluten free friend really wanted to come here. It is too overpriced and super uncomfortable. Plus there are only six or less tables, so expect to wait a lifetime to even sit down.

Oh! The gluten free bread sticks are incredible! Whatever tricks they have up their sleeve shines on these bread stickes. It’s a true achievement! Now let’s talk about this amazing pizza. Ultra thin gluten free crust w a great crunch & slight char. And the sauce is a perfect balance of garlic & herbs and plum tomatoes. The soppressata fresh basil & fresh mozzarella was seriously outstanding. All of the ingredients are of high quality & very fresh. Excellent service– both friendly & prompt as well as knowledgable. Nice selection of international wines & beer as well as gluten free beer too. We didn’t try any of the risotto dishes but we will defiantly be back. Ultra intimate dining. Scratch made desserts. Limited menu. Highly recommended.

This place is adorable. It’s small and the tables are lined closely up against the wall – it’s a little cramped but in an quaint, intimate way. I wouldn’t recommend this place for large groups and the wait times probably get crazy. We arrived at 6PM on a Tuesday night and sat down just fine. The gluten free breadsticks provided taste salty and buttery and delicious. We gobbled them down quickly and the waitress provided water throughout the meal. She was very attentive and helpful. The key here is the risotto. Definitely order the risotto, I got the sausage and porcini and it was damn good. Cream, slightly chewy, perfectly cooked. The flavors were bright and delicious. The portions are large but the prices are relatively high($ 16.75). If you love risotto, if you are gluten free or if you just want a bit of comfort food, check out Risotteria.

Originally, I set out on a little journey downtown to show my girlfriend a few spots I love, on this food Mecca spanned over a few blocks, I aimed first for risotto of course, but at Centro down the road who made an amazing sweet corn Risotto and just so happened to crush my dreams when I found they were no longer there. Remembering of course that a spot I hadn’t been to(the Risotteria) lay a half block away. This menu was endless! We debated which to split as if it mattered, it was fate that we go and it was fate that we order anything with truffle, so that’s what we did, we added sweet corn to that cheesy, truffley, magically creamy risotto. We made a pact to go back and try split another one. The Risotteria fits right in on the glorious block of fantastic edible indulgences! Service was decent, the bread to start was nice, and the risotto was out of this world. I highly suggest you check this place out.

Finally got a chance to visit the legendary Risotto restaurant super well known in the vegan/vegetarian community. I really love the setting, little corner shop in Greenwich Village giving out a nice, chill vibe. The bread stick was very good. But I am sorry, I didn’t like my risotto:(I ordered the Saturday risotto special with shrimp and hot pepper and it kinda looked like a plate of baby food. And it tasted exactly like how it looked… Fairly plain. Portion was big though. I didn’t finish it. The good thing about this place is that they offer wide variety of vegan-/vegetarian-/pescatarian-/gluten free– friendly options but at the same time also offering meat. It could be a cozy, romantic date idea to go to Risotteria with a person who has dietary restrictions. Else, I’d rather go to Dellas BBQ and my vegan friends can get a garden salad lol! I am sorry I am a little biased, I love meat too much.

Not a big Risotto fan but I like it well enough here. The Pork with Parsley is a great manly dish but pork to Risotto ratio is off. Ask for extra pork when ordering. Also the Chianti by the glass is good match but at the upper end of the price range for wines. Staff is nice but spacey. They have no idea what holiday it is.

At first I was dubitative when looking at their outdoor sign«The pioneers of gluten free dining since 2000» — when you think about it is a bit strange for a pasta /pizza place. Nevertheless, I decided to stop there for lunch and this is a place I would definitely recommend! We tried their homemade pizza(tomato sauce, mozzarella, garlic, onions) which was simple but delicious and accompanied it with a gluten-free local IPA. Good value for money thanks to their generous portions. Overall: nice dining experience for a casual lunch with friends. Small plus: their gluten-free bread sticks are really good

My roommate and I came here for linner(Linner:(noun) a combination of lunch and dinner eaten between the hours of 3pm and 6pm) and we basically had to be rolled out, we were so full. We ordered a pizza with arugula, goat cheese, feta, and pesto. It was so light and delicious and the combination of flavors was genius. Next we shared a risotto dish. We asked our waiter to recommend a dish and he suggested the Friday special(note: it was Sunday. We were told you can order the specials any day of the week). The Friday special was risotto with shrimp, sausage, and saffron. It was amazing. We each had a glass of wine and the bill came to $ 70 without tip. The staff could not have been nicer. Our waiter offered us amazing suggestions and the food did not disappoint.

More like a 4.5 stars but bumped up for service! Casual restaurant, good for pairs because of tight seating, but service is so good. I went for lunch and they were constantly refilling waters, checking up on us, giving us extra breadsticks(which are made with pizza dough and are super crispy and good), but not being overbearing. They provided constant good service without rushing us. I only tried the risotto with truffle oil, mozzarella and portobello mushrooms, but it was fantastic.(They also grind black pepper and grate parmesan cheese for you.) Some of the bites were a little undercooked, but otherwise, it was so decadent and rich comfort food. I don’t eat much and I finished the entire plate.

INSHORT: A pioneer of completely gluten-free dining, Risotteria will surprise even the most determined wheat-lover with a charming staff and thoroughly indulgent eats. THESTORY: I have a lot of gluten-free friends. Okay, I have 2, but when I consider how I only have, maybe, like 6 friends, 33% is a lot. So it’s important for me to always be aware of a gluten-free option whenever I’m dining out. Luckily for me, and for the friends I force to eat out with me on an aggressively regular basis, Risotteria exists. This 5-table(there might be 8, or 10, but you get the picture, it’s tiny) space is gluten-free heaven, not only because are there huge, creamy portions of risotto, but because there are also gluten-free pizzas, pastas, paninis, and appetizers that fill out the menu. A risotto with proscuitto, arugula, and truffle oil was rich and comforting, with just the right amount of earthiness achieved through the light oil, and the sausage, mozzarella, roasted peppers, and olive pizza had a nice acidic freshness. The most remarkable part of the pizza, though, is the crust, chewy and pocketed like the gluten-filled crusts we salivate over, and yet entirely gluten-free. No thin, crunchy, cracker-like crusts are found here. Risotteria has done remarkable things rejecting the notion that gluten-free means dry and unoriginal, and the desserts are no exception. The tres leches cake was dense, gooey, and nearly dripping with sweet flavor. Not crumbly or stale, it was as excellent as any other. Because the restaurant is so small, only walk-ins are accepted. Though on a weekday evening around 7PM, the wait is usually no more than 15 minutes for a table for 4, making this cozy West Village spot perfect for those rather spontaneous dinner plans with more difficult to please friends. While Risotteria may not be experimenting with any innovative flavors, it has pushed the boundaries on gluten-free cooking techniques, and in the end, with all of its comfortably classic, warm tastes, you might forget that there is no gluten to be seen.
