Best pizza in NYC. Unfortunately, they have closed. Kiria and Smalls did the best they could, but the place was so understaffed, they both couldn’t make the place work. They closed early so often, or didn’t even open for the day, that I frequently had to go elsewhere for substandard pizza up the block. They had an amazing sauce and crust combination, but they were so unreliable. I hope they reopen with more staff, and a whole lot less drama.

Tucked away and easy to overlook if not for its tomato red awning, Primo Pizza 84 is a tiny spot really for takeout. It has a small counter against the glass window of about 4 stools. Its pizza is quite tasty, though not at all classically NY pizza. The crust is light and the tomato sauce is bright, more like fresh tomatoes than pizza sauce. We enjoyed our slices of plain pizza.

Bad pizza, worse service. Gluten-free pizza is soggy and undercooked, just a mess. The staff is rude and has no idea what they’re doing. We used to like it here, but will never go again!

Couple changes: They now include meat options. That’s nice. Their thick crust option is pretty good — I think they call them«mama’s pies» or something. The pizza itself has gotten worse over the past couple years. The ingredients are still good, but the pies don’t have that integrated crispy/soft thing going on that they did when Primo first opened. If there were good competition in the neighborhood, I’d give the«new» Primo 3 stars.

Stopped by on Sunday afternoon because was actually surprised to see it open. Pizza was borderline inedible and the«pig in a blanket» was cold and disgusting. Even my 5yo thought it was terrible and he’ll eat anything. The place looked grimy and someone in the back kept yelling about a grease trap. I gave it and extra star because at least the bottled water tastes good.

Shadow of its former self … When this place opened it was amazing. Vegetarian only but super high quality with great crust. Now, it’s not vegetarian but it’s barely better than the $ 1 pizza places on eight avenue. I’ll skip it and go to Pizza Pete’s around the corner.

Best pizza have had on upper west side New owner who had only been there three weeks using amazing fresh mozzarella, french basil. Crust us crispy and thin. Great experience and a great addition to the neighborhood!

Very poor quality pizza and even worse customer service. Ordered a large pepperoni pie with high expectations. It was never delivered. Received a call that said I had to come pick it up, which I did, but when I arrived and discussed with the woman behind the desk that it was in fact PICKUP, she gave me serious lip and made it seem like it was my fault. I get home to find that they did not even put pepperoni on it. Needless to say, first and last time at Primo Pizza 84.

As it changed hands, Primo got worse and worse – until now. Thank you, Kira. If you like thin crust, crispy pizza, this is not the place for you; rather, this hole-in-the-wall serves literally heavy slices of thick crust pizza, with a pleasant, somewhat bland tomato sauce, with a hint of sweetness. We loved it. Note: If you’re having the pizza at home I highly recommend that you put it in a hot oven to crisp up the crust. It makes a tremendous difference.

Primo has changed management and approach. It is no longer oriented towards vegetarian offerings and is more like your average New York slice joint. This is not bad, just less special. Still worth it for a quick slice in the nabe.

Tied this place as it was the closest pizza shop to the natural history museum. This place is tiny, only able to accommodate about 5 people at the small counter. Pizza had been sitting out for a while. Pizza pie was fairly standard, not very flavorful and the pepperoni was soft and VERY greasy. I say VERY, as most mtv style pizza will be greasy, but this was over the top. The guy at the counter must have just started, as he had no clue about the menu and had to read it himself(like when I asked what was inside the calzone). Too many other great pizza places in nyc. This one I’ll keep off my list.

Supremely disappointing after all the positive reviews on here. The Unilocal community’s raving of their pies, and especially the garlic knots, got us to try this place. Ordered a plain pie, some knots, and a chicken parm. Swing and a miss on all 3. PIZZA — doughy crust, mediocre sauce, and the cheese was average. The crust really killed me. No crunch at all. Was way too spongy. It seemed as though the pizza was cooked earlier that day then just heated up for us. GARLICKNOTS — flavorless and mushy PARM — spongy bread, almost no sauce, limp chicken. This may sound harsh, but I think I was particularly disappointed because the disparity between the reviews on here and the product. Maybe I just caught them on a bad night, but it was so poor an impression that I won’t be giving them a second chance.

OMG this place is delicious. Crust is perfect. Crisp and tasty. Very interesting toppings that are so fresh. Sit on the porch and enjoy. Plus gluten free options. What could be better.

New management. Miss the old pizza and the other guy who made the pizza I went during the evening and the pizza looked like they were sitting there for hours. I asked when a fresh pie would come out and was told that they are fresh. Pass. Taking this off my list of favorite pizzerias.

Great pizza place! The margarita is especially delicious. We did a blind taste test back at our apartment and this one won out over the other pizza place around the corner. Also, one of the gentlemen that works there is always so friendly and kind. It’s a bit pricey though, for just a slice of pizza…

Under new management — this place should be avoided. The prices on the website are all wrong and now everything is much more expensive.

No idea what happened but it is now under new ownership. We need to find a new pizza Friday location! So upset… the pizza is not the same and they no longer offer the garlic knot sandwiches:(

Garlic knots at $ 0.50 a piece… approved! Brocolli moz pizza slice… so-so. Lovin the thin crust style. Overall a pretty good joint to try but not on my list of favorites.

The slice I tried was good with Gorgonzola, tomatoes and onion. The owner/cook as it seemed was involved in his video game/ipad but was nice enough with a good vibe. The guy behind the counter was kind. The crust was on the delicious side:) I would recommend trying just for the crust… it’s that good. Almost $ 5.00 for one slice seemed rather pricey and whole pies seemed a bit high to me as well. I recommend trying this place for take out because the seating is extremely limited with only 4 stools to sit on. They offer vegan cheese options as well. I didn’t get to try that because they had sold out of the vegan cheese slices.

HMMMMMM! Yum!!! I just had a mouthgasm after hanging out at this pizza joint that has been 2 streets away from where I live, and I never found out they were here until today. FYI: No, I’m not a vegetarian, nor am I a gluten free groupie, but all the food I ordered here was to die for and I did not miss meat or fish whatsoever. Wow. Anyhow…I had my teeth whitened today, and I had to eat white foods for 24 hours(WTF? Ugh). I Unilocaled this place, walked over, met Phil and ordered the following: Garlic knots: The best I ever had in my ENTIRE life. Jesus Christ… Phenomenal. White slice: Very tasty, perfect crust. Yeah… Speaking of crusts: Some reviewers clearly don’t know what a kick ass pizza crust is supposed to look & taste like because they probably grew up on Papa John’s and Domino’s so they don’t know better. Forgive them. Pasta penne Alfredo: Very good, in all its simplicity. All of the above were freshly made from scratch in front of me. Pizza slice was reheated because I walked in right before closing, and even then I liked it(normally I hate that.) This place is definitely a keeper.
