I would like to preface this review by saying that I never write bad reviews. Unfortunately, R Bar has become the exception to the rule. I was planning to host a party for approximately 23 – 50 people and was shopping around several places. When I called to find out the options available, I was«assisted» by Michelle who made it very clear that she would rather be doing anything else besides speaking to me. Any interest I had in going to this bar quickly dissipated. I want to enjoy my night, not worry that someone like Michelle might not feel like doing her JOB at that particular moment. It’s called customer service for a reason honey.

Pretty good spot. Decent age range– between 20s and 30s. It gets pretty packed until 2 – 3. Great place if you’re looking for more 90-early 2000 music I’ve never gotten the schedule right. Can’t tell if only Saturday’s are the good days.

do not go to this place — went with a few friends(we are all professionals of color) and we were having an animated conversation about pop culture outside and the bouncer told us we couldn’t enter because we were fighting!!! I guess when people of color have a discussion with loud voices we are being«aggressive» and«violent». In the meantime dozens of inebriated frat boys are stumbling through the doors. I would urge others to boycott given what was clearly biased behavior.

Please note that this review does not refer to the unrelated(as far as I can tell) RBar, in Brooklyn, which is a dive bar that is totally all right by me; but is in fact about R Bar, in Manhattan, which is maybe a lost tenth or eleventh circle of hell; I’m not really sure. One friend of mine, who grew up in Lower Manhattan, once called R Bar«probably the first place to open in that neighborhood that was really…(long sigh) too much.» Another friend of mine, a musician who has played in every hole in this city that he’s been advised not to play, once called R Bar«the pit of human existence.» Now, I’m not one for hyperbole. What I will say is that R Bar is probably fine if you like hanging around wannabe models, wannabe rock stars, and smarmy white-collar dudes hitting on the wannabe models in spite of the fact that they seem to be more interested in the wannabe rock stars. If you prefer things that are not those things, maybe hit up another bar. I will also say that I did play a show here once with one of my bands, and it was one of the five or six most disorganized shows I’ve played in my adult life, running about two hours behind for no good reason that I can tell, on a weeknight. Furthermore, I can say that beer here is overpriced, and the first time I was here I thought I’d beat that hustle by ordering whiskey/sodas, but the whiskey content there was very, very low. I was already having a rough night, because I was at R Bar, and I wanted so much to catch a buzz, and I couldn’t. Every time I’ve been here, some people seem to have been having a blast, but I don’t think I’m in their scene. I’m just a depressed, Brooklyn-dwelling guitarist with a day job as a «creative.» I can think of plenty of other places where I don’t feel so uncomfortable.

Small bar that gets pretty packed. The music is pretty good.

Are you part of the bridge and tunnel crowd? Like a DJ that plays top 40 tracks on repeat throughout the night? Do you have a fake ID that barely works anywhere in the city? Well then you should come here, it’s a pretty fun shitshow on Saturday nights.

One of my favorite go to spots to let loose. Lines move pretty quickly. Beats bang on Friday and Saturday. Stripper pole on the sides of the clubs as well as the back room. A lot of bachelorette parties held there. Drink prices are average. Crowd is pretty non-pretencious. Bathroom is a little grimey, but cmon where not partying in the bathroom.

Just played a show here with a band(Giga Herbs) so this is from a weeknight perspective: Drinks: weak Happy Hour: no great deals, still rather pricey. Bouncer: awesome Bartender: rude My Guinness: warm and flat. That’s a no no.

I would give this place –5 if i could. It was a Saturday night and 40 degrees out, but this place was so burning hot that after 5 minutes when we walked in we were all sweating like pigs. Super gross! I asked to have the air turned on or windows open but they replied«just go outside». Another wonderful thing was the bouncer being extremely rude to the one of the girls and actually making her cry. Atrocious and disgusting. I’ll never return and recommend no one go here.

I came here a few times before but this is my first review for this place. I came here for a friend’s birthday. Service: There was no line before 11, so we didn’t have to wait at all. When we got there, we had to wait a little bit for the birthday girl’s reserved table. It wasn’t the best service since it’s a bar. I was a bit grossed out when the waiter flipped all the glasses to side where we drink from on those illuminated tables. I’m pretty sure it’s not sanitary. Ambiance: The only unique thing about this bar is that they have dancing poles. I was pretty tempted to practice on those poles since I took up pole classes recently. But I didn’t do it due to sanitary factors and mainly due to not getting the wrong attention. The illuminated tables were not big enough to hold all the drinks. It was pretty crowded in there so you don’t really have enough space to dance on. But they have good music you can dance or sway to. Overall: When we left, there was a huge line outside. I can’t jmaging having more people in there, since you feel likeyou need skme fresh air after an half an hour. But I do recommend this place for a get together or gno!

My friends and I ordered bottle service, yet they made us wait outside for over half an hour. The promoter/bouncer disappeared for about that amount of time and left us outside waiting while they let other guests in. After the long wait, the manager treated us terribly and didn’t give us any indication of where our table was once we were inside. We had to ask around before finally being led to our spot. Long story short: no use wasting your time with bottle service. Just go for drinks.

I came here for a birthday party, from which I am still recovering. Let me just say this — I hate R Bar. Everything about it is … ugh. This place belongs in Murray Hill. Bros struggling to dance, white guys texting in the middle of the dance floor, stripper poles but no real strippers, a weird bartender, and it’s always packed for some reason. Everyone seems to comment on how many Asians there are here — honestly, I was just happy to not be the only minority in this place. Shout outs to the security guard who returned my wallet to me after I lost it(pretty sure he took my cash but I appreciate the overall gesture). Watch your pockets and bags here. Coat check — mandatory. We were in the backroom, which is significantly better than the front room, but still tragic. Just avoid unless you’re here to show love to a friend who happens to be celebrating something here.

Asians. Asians everywhere! It’s been a few years since I’ve been to R Bar, and it’s just like I remembered it. Standard priced drinks for the area(though I hate paying $ 9 for a beer). The back room is where it’s at, but only if you have a name to give the bouncer. Stripper poles all around, but no swinging, as they warn you when you enter. Bartenders are surprisingly efficient. Music is pretty decent. Get here before midnight if you don’t want to wait on a super long line.

Thumbs up for the stripper poles! Had a great time at this low key bar. Came in for some urban burlesque, it was a quiet Thursday at R Bar possibly it’s a little more poppin during the weekend. The drinks were ok, I am a light drinker and it was enough to give me a buzz. I love the feel of R Bar, think this would be a fun spot for me and a group of girlfriends looking to finally debut our stripper moves acquired from the many groupon class purchases.

R bar has been History for me. 7 years ago I came to this place, the only thing I did was to «hold» the pole, lift one of my leg and pose to the camera. Today, After taking many Pole dancing classes, I manage to Spin around the Pole. Ladies… Go take a Pole Dancing class if you want to pick up guys. Just… have fun, because there are other weirdos jumping around here and still having a Blast. PS… Recommend you to get in before 11PM or else there might be a line.

I used to frequent this place more when 3 – 4 years ago. This review is about my experience last weekend there. The venue itself is very cool, I love the rock theme. The bartenders really fit the part and to their credit they pour drinks strong enough for rockstars. The crowd is ehhhh. Lots of parties on a Saturday night(i’ve been guilty of throwing 1 or 2 here in the past). It can get extremely crowded as well, girls prepare to get hit on. The stripper poles in the back are for girls only, all you adventurous guys reading this. They will throw you out if you abuse them, but it can provide for some interesting people watching, seeing drunk women twirl around on them. I would say this spot is worth a visit for sure.

I’m a fan of this place. It is a great place to chill with friends either at the beginning of the night or at the tail end of the night. DRIVERS! The parking is TOUGH around here! Try the side streets behind the bar but KEEP an EYE out for the NIGHTREGULATIONS! A lot of places here will make you move your car at midnight! The drinks are«bar drinks» don’t expect top shelf stuff. Seats are comfy and the stripper poles in the back are fun! I’d def go back.

I had a BLAST here, but ONLY because of the company I was in. First off, huge shout out to Carl at R Bar who made my friend’s birthday night AWESOME. Surprisingly there was no line to get in around 10:30pm on a Sat. We were with a large party for a birthday and we ended up getting a table in the main bar area. We soon realized that sitting in the back«VIP» area would be much better, considering all the people hovering/bumping into our small table. We asked for a few champagne and 1 vodka bottle, and they didn’t have any bubbly? No champagne?!!(sad face). But our waitress did offer other suggestions like wine, but we went for Prosecco instead, duh. Anyways our group ended up at a table in the back room which was plenty big enough for all of us. I loved the stadium seating and big table space(with a pole). But lets be honest, some girls that were there that night should NOT have been dancing on that pole. still trying to get that image out of my head. The music was great, the place was PACKED… and in TRUE birthday fashion [and many bottles later] around 2am the birthday boy got thrown out for dancing on the table with his shirt off. What gives? After all they do encourage pole dancing here. The bouncers in the club were relatively kind, [although totally over reacted] to my clearly intoxicated friend. But he even got cheers as he was«escorted» out of the bar. He put on quite the show ;) DOWNSIDES: Didn’t like the crowd. Seemed like the bouncers would let ANY one in that came to the door. This place needs a dress code ASAP. My friends even joked that this would have been a great place to come to freshman year(5 years ago). Also, condoms at the bar? I’m all for safe sex but this was tacky which made me feel like the regulars here are equally as tacky. PASS!

OK. They finally called me and emailed me on Tuesday night, 3 days after losing my phone. They couldn’t find it. I appreciate the fact that they got back to me but 3 days is kinda long… I was waiting for them to respond so I can decide whether or not to get a new phone…

Happy hour prices until 11! :D I came here to kill time before hitting up Bowery Ballroom and I was glad I stopped by. $ 5 for a decent glass of house wine(I’m not a wino so don’t trust my judgement) and after two glasses I was ready to dance. I thought I was walking into a strip club when I saw the two stripper poles but I was mistaken. They’re for the patrons! Unfortunately we didn’t stay long enough to witness drunk people show off their moves. They offer free condoms on the bar top so YAY for being STD free! +1 for having a Wonka contract on the wall lol
