This place is lively and spacious. Good drinks and food. There are three size for beer. Half a liter, liter, and 2 liter. We wanted to order the 2 liter but we were told it was only available at the bar because it was too big to carry and they didn’t want to drop it or spill it on anybody.

How does this place get almost five stars?! The food is terrible! I’m giving it two for the beer selection but I could get just as good a selection at a number of nearby bars. The only thing that was nice about this place is that it was big and a good place for groups. Edit: I’m not bashing the beer selection and it might be the best for a few blocks but I would walk a few blocks for better food. I love German food! I’ve spent a lot of time there and eaten all different cuisines. Spaetzle might be top three comfort foods. The Spaetzle here was dry and somehow still swimming in grease. The app was what appeared to be hot dogs cut up and cooked in ketchup with curry spices. A la something my grandma would make for a church potluck. The schnitzel looked better but looked like it was previously frozen. I did forget it was pretty cheap. So if you want to get hammered and eat terrible food this is definitely the place!

Great place for beer lovers, they had a bunch of tv’s, and can’t wait to come back for a game! Food was good, and the service was great. Had my doubts, but turned out to be a great experience!

This is a fun beer garden type of restaurant in a very spacious place. The servers are beautiful and friendly. The grapefruit beer is good. $ 11 Huhnerleber Pastete — Chicken Liver Toast, chicken liver spread, sherry & onions, pickles on crostini: Even though this is a very rich dish, all the flavors balance it out. The sweet onions cut through the heaviness of the creamy chicken liver. The pickles were pretty large. I’m used to the small cornichons on chicken liver toast. $ 15 Pork Schnitzel with sweet & sour red cabbage, potato salad: This was the star of the meal. The schnitzel is indeed pounded out very thinly. It was huge though. My schnitzel was almost too big for the plate. It was crunchy & delicious. The potato salad was okay. The cabbage was good, but I couldn’t finish it. It was almost too sour for me with every additional bite. $ 11 Bratwurst Sandwich — pork sausage on pretzel bun with mustard, sweet & sour red cabbage, sauerkraut This was a pretty decent sized sausage. I couldn’t really taste the pretzel bun. It seemed like a normal bun to me. It tasted okay. Normally I like sauerkraut okay. But there was too much sour stuff for me to finish it all. $ 11 Curry Wurst — sliced grilled bratwurst in tomato based curry sauce, with fries & mayo We just wanted to try the curry wurst out of curiosity. They taste like little sausages cut up and covered in curry. I don’t quite think it is worth the price. I could have done without the fries & mayo, but they do taste good in the curry sauce. I would come back another time when I am craving shnitzel or feeling nostalgic for that German beer garden vibe.

I love the atmosphere in the sense that it’s very unique. All the waiters and waitresses are dressed in traditional German outfits. This was right by my old job so I was able to come by a few times with co-workers. Definitely order the giant pretzel. The cheese that came with it was more of a hard cheese spread than what you would normally imagine a giant pretzel like that would come with. I wouldn’t recommend the cheese. Kinda wish they had the normal gooey cheese. That would have been great. Other than that, I had the sausages a few times. Try their platter that comes with beets and radish. It was pretty good. Overall, if I was in the area, I’ll stop by and grab a bite or so but nothing I would go out of my way for. Didn’t get to try their beers. During lunch times, you do see the place populated by a lot of near by businesses on their lunch time.

I was pretty buzzed going in and I was even more buzzed coming out. Perfect. From what my *funny* memory tells me, there was a large, heave glass of beer(or two, et. al.) involved. There was also a few college life flashbacks. Oh, and yes, there was some damned good brats. Sounds like I had a good time.

Enjoyed the authentic German beer hall like ambience. Great selection and variety of German beers including some unusual ones we don’t often see here like Benedictine Weissbier and Schofferhofer grapefruit beer, giant pretzel, delicious curry wurst, very loud and difficult to have a conversation.

My date recommended this place since it was near ktown. We came here after dinner, and we were seated right away. This place is pretty spacious with cafeteria style wooden tables, so you may be sitting with strangers. They have a nice draft selection of german beers. I can’t say anything about the food, but my date raved about the german sausage and pretzels that they serve here. I must come back to try the food. They have a vast selection of weisse beers to dunkels so you can go for light and fruity to dark and nutty. In addition they offer ½ liters, 1 liters, and 2 liter boots! The men servers wear suspenders and the women wear the typical blue/white checkered outfits you see at these beer halls. The service is great. Our server kept on coming back every few moments to check up on us. As a caveat, they take a credit card as a «deposit» for all orders. My date also showed me the menu where they offer various ski shots(4 shots on a ski) where a group of 4 takes it at once. I need to come here with more friends and check it out. Def will be back for the ski shot and the food!

This review is a little late as I was here back in October for Oktoberfest but I had such a great time with my friends that I had to come back and write a review. We sat at the bar the two times we went here. We were offered a table but we’re having such a great time at the bar that we just stayed. The bartenders were attentive and nice. Definitely a great time.

i love going to biergartens so when ever i am able to find one i try and stop by and grab a stein! located right by herald square in midtown, i could see this place as a nice meetup spot after the daily grind of corporate life. they have many beers on tap, but my fav is always the hoffbrau oktoberfest. I ordered the weiner schnitzel but was good but a little on the dry side. we came here on a lazy sunday football day with the guys and the place was relatively empty which was a little of a bummer. hopefully can have a chance to stop by again when its popping!

YUCK! Not sure where to start. Being of Austrian descent I know my German food. As a family we visit Germany and Austria yearly. The food at this beerhall left me wondering why we wasted our time by going here and not one of the Italian spots in the area. The service was lacking. Our waitress was dingy to say the least. We asked general questions about the menu and she was unable to answer them without picking up one of our menus to look for herself. The waitress is not the one who serves the food. Some man who speaks broken English comes out with the food. He doesn’t know how to pronounce the food he is delivering and he doesn’t know where it goes. He literally put each entrée in front of me and I had the honor of passing it out. Not impressed to say the least. We started with 2 pretzels, one with mustard only and the other with the Obazada cheese spread. These were tasty. From there it all went downhill. The schnitzels were pounded so thin and fried in an untraditional manner. They were very dry. Our table all opted for the pork schnitzels, some with the mushroom sauce some without. The menu says they come with red cabbage and german potato salad. For some reason ours were served with the red cabbage and sauerkraut. When we brought it to the attention of our server she told her manager who had to come and see for herself only after looking at the menu to verify. The schweinehaxen was over cooked. So overcooked and dry that my dad broke a tooth on it. The spatzel with gravy was outright gross. This food in our opinion just didn’t taste good. They had a decent drink menu. The beer selection was quite good so if you go for beer and pretzels you will be ok.

This might be the only place left in NYC where you can get currywurst. We were struck but a sudden currywurst craving, and two favorite currywurst vendors appear to have closed their doors! Enter Reichenbach Hall. Sure it’s in a weird, officey corner of the city. The lighting is dim, and the tables have long benches that tremble whenever someone gets up or down. But the currywurst did not disappoint! It was just spicy enough, with a mountain of perfectly crispy fries. The Kasewurst(bratwurst with cheese) was delicious, although the rosemary bun it came on was a bit stale. Paired with a very large Schofferhofer(grapefruit beer — I couldn’t believe it was their smallest size), our wurst dreams came true. Heh. Knocking off two stars for the weird ambiance and somewhat expensive prices, but the food was good.

Overall, a chill place to get some beers with that German flare. My friends and I got the über gigantic pretzel which definitely satisfied our drunk munchies and they had multiple TVs for sports watching. I think I would have been simply content with this place if only the service wasn’t so slow. We had a rotation of three waitresses plus who seemed like the floor manager at the time in a duration of max 3 hours. It took awhile for us to get our second round of drinks which was surprising because when we were there, the place wasn’t packed. I can tell that the floor manager was following up with tables to make sure they were being taken care of but ultimately service was slow. A place this big should be well equipped of staff regardless. If In the area and wanting das boot, this could be the place but I’ve had better German bars in the city for sure.

I Love Oktoberfest. This of course translates into German beer halls. This place fills the bill. Occasionally my inner neanderthal must have a meat fest. There’s no better way to satisfy those urges then with some smoked and juicy meat stuffed into intestinal lining. They do it well. The combo platter appetizer is filled with brat, kielbasa & knockwurst. Let me tell you that this app can easily be a meal for 2. Bratwurst is and will always be my favorite and there’s is perfect, but I love them all. I guess my part German heritage craves long dangling compressed goodness. For me this is comfort food at it’s best. Dip into some spicy mustard and it’s on. The wienerschnitzel, pressed ever so delicately, the way grandma used to make was perfect. Now be warned the pretzel is about the size of a basketball rim in diameter, absolutely humongous and wonderfully soft generously salted with a side of mustard options. Their Deutsche bier selection is phenomenal. I’m a weisse bier kinda guy so you know I was in Oktoberfest heaven. I’m definitely biased to German food because for one important reason, you will never leave the table hungry that’s for sure. Large high ceiling wooden accents everywhere in fact all wooden interior accompany the large tabled upon tables in typical Deutsch fashion. Big flat screens to help pass the brew pounding and sausage devouring time. Now to the best part. The Fräulein waitres’s dirndl outfit where their ample bossom stare at you throughout service had my wiener schnitzeling. Definitely reason for an blue blooded American to rise to the occasion to support our modern day allies. I think the service was great, who cares. So not just a place for a few guys to go ballistic drinking like at a college keg party, although there’s a time and place for everything, but a great place to bring the family especially on nights that the Oompa bands are playing. From young to old the fun starts from the moment you enter to the time you leave especially during Oktoberfest. German bier gardens are always so much fun, a celebration of life laughter and of course cheer. No comparison to the world famous Munich’s Hofbrauhaus, but definitely a wonderfully joyous feel and taste that you will appreciate. So to wrap up this review I see no better way than with the most famous drinking song in Deutsch land, enjoy! «Ein Prosit» Ein Prosit, ein Prosit Der Gemütlichkeit Ein Prosit, ein Prosit Der Gemütlichkeit. «Oans, zwoa, drei, Gsuffa!» meaning«one, two, three, drink!».

This place is legit. It is a true German beer hall with all of the foods and brews you would expect to find. The crowd was fairly diverse. Some tourists, but lots of locals and people getting together to celebrate a birthdays, etc. I shared the massive pretzel with beer cheese and mustard, which definitely tasted like it was made in house. My friend had the pork Schnitzel and loved it. The mustard that came with her fries was a delicious honey mustard. I’m really not a big mustard fan, but I found theirs to be really tasty. Our waitress was attentive and they seemed to be training a couple new waitresses too. That’s always a good sign.

Came here after work Friday night with a work friend. I’d definitely come back here. The beer selection is great and I love the sizing. Every beer is available as a half liter, liter and a boot, which I imagine is perfect if you’re going to camp out all day to, watch the game. The food is great too. Instead of a theme park version of what some corporate suit thinks German food is, this, to me, feels more genuine, with pâté and different kinds of mustards and brats and other things I had never heard of. It has a beer hall set up and accompanying noise level, so not quite the set for an intimate dinner. Perfect for post work drinks and bites though. Make sure you don’t by-pass the hostess. They sometimes leave their perch or just aren’t paying attention when you walk in, so wait to be seated otherwise you’ll never be served. Great spot in midtown.

Large, racousy beer hall. Everything inside seemed inline with the beer hall theme, low wooden tables and benches, plain wooden beams above, beer ad flags strung across the ceiling, large blue and white checkered flags, bartender in suspenders, and girls in beer maid outfits. The screens are kind of small for watching sports and placed only above the bar area. However, there’s a good menu with all sorts of wursts, spaetzle, potato salad, red cabbage salad, and of course, different beers.

Solid German beer hall with decent prices on a pretty good selection of beers. The size options for drinks can get pretty large with the smallest one being a half liter. I also love the outfits that all of their employees wear. It can get pretty loud inside, not with music, but just crowd noise. The food here is kind of what you’d expect, with large pretzels that are nice and soft, and a selection of many different sausages. There are also schnitzel options that I did not try here. Food is not bad at all, but a little bit on the pricey side.

I was in search for a particular German made beer and of course being in NYC I knew there was a German bar that had it. Reichenbach Hall is the place to go for great German beer and if you’re a big soccer fan. This place gets packed during high profile soccer matches. Order up one of their gigantic pretzels and wash it down with your favorite German beer. You can’t beat the location either. The staff and is friendly and most of them have German accents to give you that authentic German bar feel.

Great beer, large room with loads of seating, fast service, and very pretty waitresses in German costume. I’m a chick and even I appreciated how lovely the girls are. They also seem to favor the New York Yankees(I approve). Both the Mets and Yankees were playing when we were there but only the Yankees game was televised. On three screens! :) I was told the spatzel with bacon and cheese is good. I have had the pretzels and the apple strudel on different occasions and both are quite good. My only complaint is that the prices can be a little high for certain items, but this is Midtown. I did note that in recent months they have added some vegetarian items to the menu. Much appreciated. Try the Benediktiner Weisbeer! It has a hint of butterscotch at the beginning that is delightful. I have also had the Schofferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen, it was delicious, and I recommend it for those who are looking for something very light.
