I wish I could give this place no stars. The music literally SUCKS the prices are ridiculous and my guy friends were asked to buy a $ 500 bottle at the door because they didn’t walk in with my girl friends. Then I walked out and asked the woman(child) at the door why they are charging them so much and she called me a MIDGET and started harassing me. It was the most unprofessional thing I have ever seen. Do not go here it seriously sucks. Also everyone that goes is literally 15.

This is literally the WORST«lounge» EVER! It was my best friends bachelorette party tonight we hop out the Limo to go in for a bit & they wanted to charge a group of us 8 women $ 1000 to come in! When it’s not even a nice fancy place! And they had just let in a group of all white girls in FORFREE, but bc we were mixed they wanted to charge us $ 1000 for ONE bottle & a table. The woman at the door was literally the rudest person I’ve ever met in my life. This place should be SHUTDOWN. They discriminate against mixed groups. They see a limo & want to rape you in prices when everyone on the 5 foot line was going in for free. Don’t ever go her, it’s ugly they’re rude & racist.

The worst bar/lounge in NYC. Every time we go it’s a pain at the door(we hope all of our party will get in) and the music and drinks are weak. It is never worth the hype.

As others have said, this is a terrible spot. We came to the bar to meet a friend who had purchased a bottle and were told we would have to buy another table for«at least $ 1000»(instead of $ 2000 if our friends weren’t inside). I’m pretty sure the girl at the door is racist(we had two brown guys and a black guy in our group) and the bouncer was extremely rude, refusing to explain why he was keeping us out in a place that had no line after midnight and was empty inside according to our friends. He pushed us out to let the imaginary line of people behind us move forward, even staring at the line like there were people there when there weren’t. Loser bar that has a 1930 Deep South business model in 2015NYC.

Absolutely disgusting service and bouncing staff. If you want to be demeaned abs treated in a manner that makes you feel worthless than THIS is the place for you. We waited outside in the freezing cold as a group of girls trying to get in. We were the only people in the line and when we reached the front we were told«Not a CHANCE.» We simply asked why and the bouncer refused to talk to us and give us a reason but instead he let the rope to the side exit of the line open as to not allow us into the establishment. We heard from our friends inside that the club was empty. This made us feel even worse and really just overall upset about the night. I went back and described to the bouncer that it was my friend’s last night in NYC and she is moving to another country and just wanted to celebrate and he told us to «F**K off» Do NOT go here. ever.

Try your best to ignore the personal vendetta reviews against the price. The price is pretty much a disclaimer upon entry. This place is super fun and a great late-night dancing spot, where you’ll meet hilariously interesting people. It has a great variety of music that never gets dull with Top 40 and the dance floor is never too packed to make a fool of yourself. If you’re a girl and you think it’s too pricey, work the floor and you’ll have a drink shortly. I can’t speak for what this place is like earlier in the evening but I know it’s very fun and appropriately crowded late-night!

I generally do not write Unilocal reviews but I feel so strongly about my latest experience at Soutside, I felt I had to. I have visited southside before and had a decent time so was very surprised when I went last Saturday and my friend and I were told to step off of line because we would not be getting in. We had a friend come in from outside to explain we were meeting friends we were again told, with no explaination as to why, we would not be granted entrance even though people behind us were being let in. I read another review saying the bouncers generally only let in blonde girls, that is a understatement to say the least. The overt discrimination and blatant racism displayed by the door guy was appalling. Having lived in NYC all of my life and frequented my share of bars/clubs my most recent experience at Southside really took the cake for worst evening out.

Southside is a great time — the perfect trendy but low-key destination for reliable non-house-music dancing and a consistently fun and attractive crowd. Sure, it’s tough to get into if you arrive after 11:30, but so are most decent, upscale spots in New York. Plus, everything in Nolita is small from apartments to restaurants, so you can’t really expect more from the door if you don’t time your arrival. I have been stumbling in since 2010 and have never had an off night.

I never knew this place existed until I happened to walk by it 1 night. I’m surprised there are so many 1 star reviews for this place. I liked it and had lots of fun. The crowd was a pretty crowd and everyone was dancing. It was crowded. The bouncers at first were like, I’m not supposed to let anyone in but Ill make an exception. Uh ok whatever you say. lol I get mad when they do that and its empty but at least it was pretty legitimately crowded. I took off one star because I felt this place was just the tiniest bit(and maybe it was me) cheesy like a cheesy jersey club.

Ah, just when I thought I had seen the worst of the worst, Southside reminded me I was mistaken. Filled to the brim with run-of-the-mill frat bros and their sorority girls, all of whom think and act like they’re still in college. Good luck with making your way to the bar to get a drink; hope the $ 10 Coors Light is worth it. Never. Again.

I have been in many clubs in New York, like Lavo, PhD, WIP, VIP Room, etc. I say this because I hope you believe that I have enough experience to be accustomed to less than stellar treatment. However, this went beyond less than stellar treatment. Going to this«club» was one of the worst nightlife experiences of my life. After we finished our first round of drinks, my friends and I tried to get to the bar for our second. The room was packed to the brim, and as we were edging our our way to the bar, a bouncer started yelling that we were too close to the DJ booth. Now, the DJ booth is raised and blocked by a tiled wall(if you look in some of the pictures, we were just walking by the black tiles.) It was bizarre that this man was shrieking at us, since a.) There is no way we could have reached the DJ and his equipment, b.) It wasn’t a specific roped off area, just part of the room, and c.) It was the«everyone is in one blob» kind of crowded. How could we not have touched the wall? Are we just supposed to know magically to stay 6 inches away from the side of a room and resist the pushing mass of people? But what earned this place its one star is that he then literally grabbed our upper arms before we could even try to move and pulled us out towards an enclave. Remember, it was extremely crowded so we were hitting people as he grabbed and dragged us out of the crowd. It was so unnecessary and aggressive that I was dumbfounded. I have never been treated that way before. We weren’t clear if he wanted us to leave or just wanted us to get out of the crowd, since he left without saying anything right pulling us out. Anyways, we left shortly after, since we agreed that kind of an establishment was not getting anymore of our money. I woke up the next morning with a sore arm. I thought about contacting management since it is beyond propriety that I was grabbed so hard, but I figured that it would go nowhere, since I can see other Unilocalers have talked about this horrible bouncer(he was the large, African-American guy) and it obviously hasn’t made a difference. As for the place itself? Eh. My drink was average and around $ 16. It’s more of a kitschy knock-off than a real club, so don’t anticipate impressing anyone by coming here. The best way I would describe it is a dive-club. The music was fine. Ironically, the bouncer at the door was very nice and I had no problems getting in. In Sum: This is a place Jersey-Shore people would find exclusive. The bouncer is a psycho.

I’m not sure if you can give 0 stars… so I may be forced to give 1; but please know that it is in protest! First off, I personally find it hilarious when a bar thinks it is a ‘hot spot’. Fact: this place has not been cool since 2008… if it was even cool then. There’s a long line to get in… but ok, you know someone and only have to wait 15 minutes. Today is your lucky day! You get in and it is PACKED full of… well I’ll let you use your imagination. Finally, you push to the bar to grab a $ 15 well vodka drink and go dance. No dance floor, just drunk sloptards falling all over you… but ok, not COMPLETELY surprised. Anyway, most exciting part of the night is the interaction with the quite unattractive bottle service girls who are on a power trip. I had one girl jab a flashlight into my back(so hard that I had a bruise to remember the occasion) and then grabbed my behind and pushed me into my friends. When I turned around to see what happened, she screamed in my face and grabbed one of her cocktail«colleagues»(loose term) and had me thrown out of the bar. Listen, I’m not a fan of drunk people eliciting fights in bars, however; this was just absurd. My Harvard graduating, investment banking friends watched in complete confusion with no answers. I’ll finish up with some positives; well, please note, these are the most positive attributes I can find. Drinks are not good and are way overpriced, however, this is not to be unexpected in this type of place. Bathroom situation is decent for this type of environment, which is not always common. Only concern regarding the bathrooms: you may be delayed because people are doing coke in each of the stalls. At least you don’t have to wait TOO long… so that’s nice. If you are looking to find impending harassment filings with the staff of a bar, certainly found the right establishment! Oh yes, and please, always ignore the people who say you are writing a negative review because you didn’t get in. Clearly as above, I’ve been in… and been in several times prior. People write bad reviews when they have a bad experience… in whatever capacity that may be.

The bouncers are jerks and think they are better than everyone. The place was empty and they didn’t let four pretty girls in. The black guy is the worst. He gave us no reason for not allowing us to go in and was a jerk about it. Our friends were inside and told us that it was completely empty. They really need to get off their power trips. Do not go here. The owners need to fire the door men if they want to make money with this dingy club.

FUCKSOUTHSIDE This is the first ever Unilocal review I have written. I have always thought that people who write them must have too much time on their hands — but my experience with Southside last night compelled me to need a review of my own. THISPLACEISDISGUSTING. We approached the doors of Southside at 11pm just when it was set to open knowing that we would avoid lines and the hassle of coming by late. I came with my husband, and we met up with three other couples(were all ages 24 – 30). All of us were dressed to the 9’s, ladies in LBD’s and fellas dressed in blazers and button downs — we had the«look» of their ideal customer — except for one thing. One of the four couples I mentioned was GAY –ANDTHEYTURNEDUSAWAYBECAUSEOFIT. As accepting as we would like to think NYC can be at times there is still a DISGUSTING underlying discrimination that is unacceptable. The bouncers, to our faces, told us that our«uneven ratio of guys to girls» would make us ineligible to come in. FUCKTHEM. Imagine how it felt to be turned away for such a gross reason? These were well dressed, great looking, paying customers. I highly recommend going to Mister H only blocks away next time your thinking of a night out for dancing and drinks. * I GAVEONESTARONLYBECAUSE I COULDNOTSUBMITTHISWITHZEROSTARS

This place made my head ring from the loud music and it was pretty worth it. Once you get in there are beautiful people, and a great vibe. Guys, you have to go with at least half girls in your group or you probably wont get in. also, be prepared to spend some dough.

This place is always a good time. It’s frustrating when guys complain about not being able to get in and don’t fork over for a table… it’s just the way it goes. However, I think this place more than most places, is less biased. I’ve only ever come here after 2am and haven’t really had a problem going in. The doormen tend to pull girls out of line and let them in no problem. Just be respectful and don’t complain. Very fun inside. DJ typically plays house or some sort of funk electronic. It can get VERY crowded on the dance floor in front of the booth. Last time I was here a beer bottle came flying across and hit my friend in the head. If you can’t get in there’s always Brinkley’s down the street…

Meh, this place is packed with midtown/downtown(not there yet downtowners) hipsters in their early 20s trying to hit up some club that doesn’t really fire up until after 12:30AM ish. Came here at 11:30(yes, a little early i must say) and the place was empty like a whipped up sample sale. Drinks are fairly priced, although the crowd was still bothering me. Funny people, mostly college peeps with a few middle aged adults mixed in and out, not to mention, the men here aren’t exactly the type who would buy you drinks either… so pre drink before hitting up this club y’all. Also, music wise, think about all those top 40s you listen to on the radio, now imagine that, blasted 200 times louder. Yep, that’s what you get here. The interior is cool though, and I could tell they tried putting a cool vibe to this soho club. But once again, not exactly the best crowd in the city. PS huge dance floor, so if you’re up for it, pre drink a ton and just come here and dance like there’s no tomorrow.

Again, another dance club with wasty faced people galore and yet I still love it. I feel like I can always go here with the girls, dance my drunk-little ass off and just have a great time. It’s a complete shit show, with European guys usually(and unsuccessfully) trying to hit on you, but despite this I have yet to have a bad time here. For whatever reason, the door is tight and the line starts pretty early. Bite the bullet and get a table here. They are more affordable than other MePa clubs, and this place is a mess anyways so you might as well.
