Tracks Raw Bar & Grill

Checked out this bar today, a super bowl night. We two just ordered a glass of orange juice and vodka. We did not order anything else. So the waitress kept asking us are we all right, you are good.

It’s a place called Tracks and it’s in Penn Station! Clever, right? It’s like if you put a restaurant in Grand Central and called it… Tracks. Anyway.
You’d probably miss this place with the hustle and bustle and gazillions of people pushing/​shoving their way through the underground, but you’d be missing out on this place that’s literally right under all these people’s noses. The bar area was packed when I went, but keep in mind 1) it was still peak hours (6PM) 2) some of the trains were delayed so people were coming here 3) Rangers game at MSG… Once you get past the bar (it’s at the entrance and extremely long) there’s a much quieter and more manageable table area.
From here, you can order some drinks. They have a nice cocktail menu and a few beers — not extensive by any means but good enough to get the job done. The place is known for their oysters but I wasn’t feeling that adventurous so we got a crab cake appetizer and onion rings. The rings were pretty average, but the crab cakes were really good. Light, moist, and fluffy with a nice chipotle aioli sauce.
Nice place to come by when your next train gets delayed.

If you like a good solid bar to hang with great food this is the place. Wether you are waiting for a train or hanging with friends its the place to be.
Their raw bar is one of the best in the city. They have everything from typical bar food to 16oz steaks. Anything you get is fresh and very tasty.
Bartenders are the best! Very attentive, very respectful, and will never let you sit with an empty drink.
Check it out when you can. Good times will be had.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. At first glance it seemed like a snooty bar and as I was with my daughter in Penn Station didn’t go in. I visited one day by myself while waiting for the train and ordered oysters which were good. But the STEAK was really good. Juicy and well cooked. And they had Pina Coladas which I love.
Theres a bar in the front and family like seating in the back. You can go for happy hour or grab a quick bite with the fam.

This bar is so nice that I would hang out here even if I didn’t have to get on the godforsaken LIRR.
Just kidding, I would never set foot in Penn Station if it wasn’t absolutely, 100% necessary. But that’s not a knock on Tracks. This place has decent bourbon at an almost decent price, freshly shucked oysters, and the nicest bartender you can imagine considering she has to deal with commuters all day long.
I’d totally come back anytime I had some time to kill waiting for a train, but it’s actually really hard to find so I haven’t yet. But I will, someday. When I get a sense of direction. Assuming I haven’t just imagined this place entirely.

Friggin unbelievable. I really good restaurant in Penn Station and it is not next to Amtrak. It is in the LIRR, next to the ticketing booths.
I commuted for years through Penn Station. The only thing I remember pizza, dunkin donuts, bakeries, etc. everything was tasty and big. If I remember correctly tracks was there but it was more of a dive bar.
Not a dive bar anymore. First it has a raw bar, similar to the Oyster Bar in Grand Central. I didn’t sample any but pasted it as I walked in.
We had the salmon, I posted a pic, sweet potato fries, Brussels Sprouts, and Mussel Appetizer. Before you think it … I know … This restaurant is IN Penn Station and yes the food was Nummy. We asked for the salmon to be cooked rare … And it was. Whole Crap … I have been to more expensive restaurants and they could not make Salmon rare. This place hit it the first shot. The sweet potato fries were crispy outside and buttery silky on the inside. The Brussels Sprouts were a tad hard. The Mussel Appetizer need a something. I’m not sure what maybe more pepper otherwise it was good.
I will figure out an excuse to drag friends to this place. I liked it a lot.

Nyc food has been expensive and disappointing on my trip so far. Well… no longer. I’ve heard about this place on travel blogs and shows but never thought I’d find myself there.
Well one night i got off the subway and there it was. The problem? I was really full! But no fear… I found it again and ate there.
The bar is extremely long and only had one bartender. It was busy but she was very efficient. There is definitely something to be said for the atmosphere! The old train car idea is cool and well executed.
I wanted to get oysters but had partaken at Coney Beach earlier. I instead got the crab cake sandwich. For barely more than a regular burger I got a big sandwich, fries, a giant dill pickle and coleslaw. Everything was perfect.
I kept eating and left full. And happy. And want to go back. Again and again.

If ever at Penn Station and have a wait for your train have no fear. Go to tracks have a drink and a bite to eat. Service is good and so is the pricing. They have a raw seafood bar so if you like oysters, clams or shrimp they are very fresh and delicious here. The fresh tuna is a great choice and so the salmon. I never had the burgers but do see a lot of people getting them. They have vegetarian options as well.

I got to say this place is the best with the most professional bartenders and great bar food. I used to love going to this place when I worked in the city and I still stop when visiting Manhattan. I am a seafood lover and the raw bar is top notch! Yes even though it’s in penn station! There’s no other quality place to go in the station weather waiting for s train or just visiting! Enjoy!

Have been going to the the beach over two decades by taking the train at Penn Station, I have always passed that spot and never actually went in.
The other day after missing my train by literally a minute, I decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by the place, sat at the beautiful long bar and ordered a nice shrimp cocktail and martini and it was spot on. The staff is very friendly and seems all Irish with a lovely accent. Quite a breath of fresh air in the commercial waste land that is Penn Station.
Next time that I’ll go there, I will commit for more options that look delicious on their menu..

Solid food for the price. Nice chowder, oysters are on the small side. Clam too. Tastes pretty well though. Will be back when I wait for the train…

My work friend had been bugging us for weeks to come here. This is his spot, he knows all the bartenders, but needed some convincing. Being a Jersey commuter, I try not to spend more time in Penn Station than I need to. I had never ventured into Tracks before so I was indeed knocking it before I tried it, but I mean, if Penn Station is gross, than surely anything in Penn Station would by extension also be gross, but this place really isn’t that bad.
We got here on the earlier side at the end of the work day and it was starting to fill up. It’s been said before that it’s a very distinct mix of crowds, local construction workers and office people in their ties and jackets. The service is friendly. Gotta love a place that has an actual system for free drinks in their tokens. The waffle fries are amazing and so is the guac. If you do end up missing your train, it’s not a bad place to park yourself instead of waiting in the sea of misery that is the NJT corridor.
I actually had a small mistake on my tab when I went to close it out and the bartender told me that someone had accidentally hit an extra button, so he gladly took off the incorrect charge and threw a free drink token my way. I will definitely be back, missed train or not. That raw bar looks damn good.

I don’t know if I have the cred to really write a review but while at penn station, I just had to do a walk by when I heard this was the longest bar in the city. I can tell you one thing for sure, it is definitely the longest bar that I have been to in the city.
The bar was pretty crowded and even a lot of people standing around. I’m assuming that 430−8pm is probably their busiest time. The food looked surprisingly very yummy, I guess I didn’t really expect much for a restaurant in penn station.

It’s unfortunate I missed my train by 1 minute, but I’d seriously made my 20 minutes of idle time quite efficiently and productive.
I discovered a great bar with awesome music and a nice blend of crowd.
All worked out well, grab two Budweiser’s, met some cool drinking buddies, and spark up a conversation or so with a really chilled out bartender.
They are located in the heart of penn station. Great and convenient spot for commuters utilizing the LIRR.

The bartenders are the best Caroline, Karen, Teresa, Tanya, Trish Jhony. I’ll miss them. There service is 5 star.

The concept deserves 5 stars, but the execution brings it to 3. Raw bars are awesome and it is marvelous that you can get oysters and a martini while you wait for your train. However, my experience reminded me that I was in a transportation waiting area. While the food was decidedly not bad, it was not outstanding. Plus, it is always packed during rush hours.
Still, a great place in a great location.

Stopped by for a late lunch at 2:00 PM. Big long bar — the place was packed. Several decent beers on tap. Bartender was fine. I went with a Yuengling and a fish sandwich. Cold beer. Sandwich was fine and maybe a buck or two cheaper than some of the bars in the area. Good waffle cut fries.
I will stop back.
Strange thing is that I have walked past this place for a lot of years and never stopped in. I usually walked past the rear entrance on the NJ Transit side which is kind of hard to spot. Main entrance is off of the LIRR concourse.

As of the beginning of February 2015, Penn Station lost many of its forgettable establishments to hopefully make room for improved options. Luckily Tracks still remains in the otherwise veritable wasteland of Penn Station.
Upon entering Tracks from the front you will feel like you entered the longest bar car on any train you have been on — this place is long and relatively narrow. The seating consists of mostly booths along the sides and a banquet with tables toward the back with some unfortunate two tops in the middle of the dining area (try to avoid those if possible since you will be in the flow of wait staff and customer traffic)
In between the long bar and the dining area is the kitchen and raw bar area with a fine display of different type of shellfish, which, if you are a fan you should not avoid. This stuff is really good! They have many different types of oysters and the ones my wife ordered were all meaty and delicious. The shrimp cocktail was very good — she really liked the cocktail sauce.
They have a great selection of beers on tap — a great place for a pint. Good burgers and sandwiches usually served with their cross hatch fries (Which are also served in MSG, but being significantly less expensive here).
The service can be impacted slightly just because of the distance between the dining area and bar/​kitchen area. On one recent visit there was only one waitress and man she was on point! She knew how to keep things flowing between dealing with a large 15 top in the back and all the smaller tables. I wished I remembered her name, but she did it all with great energy and sass. With all this in mind, GET YOURSELF SORTED and try not to ask a million questions regarding the menu. Know what you want — order and you will receive!
This place still has that old school feel of NYC that is rapidly fading and, at least by me, sorely missed. A great place to stop and pass the time either before going to an event at MSG (or nearby) or on your way to another destination!

So you have an hour or 2 to kill in Penn Station and your hunkering for some raw clams or oysters or shrimp & a beer, what you gonna do? Walk your ass down to Tracks. A perfect bar to get your drink & seafood eats on before your train. I wasn’t aware of Tracks. And if you forget to Unilocal before you subterranean you may miss them too.
There’s a host of under ground eateries and bars in the labyrinth below MSG. Most tend to be of the chain food variety types. Tracks offers a full on raw bar experience for you half shell lovers like me. Of course it comes at a premium $, but not that over the top.
We got the seafood tower at around $ 100 which had; clams, oysters, shrimp, mussels, lobster and crab. There were just enough to just about satiate our taste buds for two peeps. Fresh and on ice. We shared a fresh fish sammich which was ample and well done with fries for around $ 15.
Clean. Slow service, but tons of commuters rolling in and out as expected.
I wouldn’t make it a destination. But if I was waiting for a train and needed to quench my thirst for raw clams or oysters I would gladly head down again. Especially being that the options are quite limited for seafood beneath NYC.

Who would have thought you could find fresh seafood, tall drinks, and friendly Irish waitstaff in Penn Station?

Firstly, how to find it: when in penn station, head towards LIRR terminal. Make a right towards the ticket lines. Walk past the lines and it’s on your right. Big blue sign!
Atmosphere: Tracks has «the longest bar in Manhattan» and booths in the back for a sit down meal. I almost didn’t think the table area existed because it took so long to walk down the bar!
It seemed that much of the crowd just stopped by for a drink to pass the time before a train, so don’t worry about coming by yourself or with a group — anything flies.
Food and Drinks: Beers and wine seemed to be priced around $ 8 and although they had a lot of pub food, the real star of the show is the raw bar! They offer an array of oysters and clams priced anywhere from $ 1.50-$ 4.
**The best deal is the towers though! They come in different sizes and carry an array of various seafood — both raw and steamed. If you’re interested in seafood… which everyone should be… get this!
Only complaint was the mussels on our platter. Got some grit.
Finally, the staff was lovely. A little inattentive, but friendly as could be.
