I joined my boyfriend at Malarky’s for Game 7 of the NBA Finals. It was packed; you could almost taste the excitement. I am not normally a rabid sports fan but I truly enjoyed the energy and comraderie as we cheered and Unilocaled(pun intended) for the Warriors, and respectfully golf-clapped for LeBron’s victory. We ordered the prime rib sandwich and a side salad. It was out of control crazy good. Sincerely the best sandwich I have had in a long while. The meat practically melted in my mouth; the horseradish was tangy, light and fluffy and the bread perfectly crispy. The salad was fresh and simply delicious. The service at Malarky’s is great, too. Special shout-out to Robert Horlick, the manager. It was evident he cares about good service and went out of his way to make sure we were all served with a genuine smile.

Where do I begin? How about Tuesday night special prime rib only $ 16! Not carrows prime rib where it’s so thin you can read the menu through the piece of meat. To guess I’d say ¾# at least. Flavor too! Not just run of the mill meat with salt, but pepper and rosemary and taste is constantly spot on every visit. Service is impeccable I mean it. It’s a bar, and restaurant. I feel like I’m at cheers like on tv, and Mel’s diner with hospitality and just great teamwork to make sure we have drinks filled, even if «water«& plenty of toppings for our potatoe. Yummolicious. Ask for Dani and tell Robert Horlick the manager the big boy from yorba linda sent you. Apparently they have alot of killer food, prime rib sandwiches fir lunch on wed, great breakfast, and steak & lobster special. Me I’ll be back on Tuesdays like I have for several years.

Super cheap, but incredibly delicious wings. A hidden treasure of Newport. We stopped by because we were attracted by the 49 cent wings and we’re not disappointed. Solid beer selection too.

The bouncers are A– holes on a power trip! Be prepared to wait in line for 5 hours before they decide if you’re worthy enough to be let in!

Unilocal is so awesome that they send me(and I’m sure many of you) weekly emails. Well for St. Patrick’s Day this year my mom and grandma were visiting from FL so I wanted to take them somewhere we could enjoy traditional Irish food. We didn’t go to Muldoons in NPB because of the higher than average prices($ 25 for corned beef and cabbage, cmon!) So, Malarkys was choice #3 on Unilocal’s email for suggestions on where to go for St. Paddys. I checked out prices which are reasonable and decided this is where we’d go. I should’ve known better since it’s an Irish pub but just wasn’t thinking… They were not in any restaurant atmosphere even at 2:30pm on Thursday. First of all, they had bouncers and were already carding at that hour. Second, the place was packed on the inside(you couldn’t tell from the outside which I did like) and everyone was in total Irish party mode, beach life ya know? While it is probably an awesome place to start and even finish your drinking pleasures on St. Paddys, it’s definitely not a family friendly or even food friendly atmosphere on that day. We didn’t stay since that wasn’t what we were looking for at that time but I do want to come back, especially on St. Patrick’s Day because the place was hopping!

We were in the Newport area for an event and came to this pub because the other places seem to have a really long wait. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. They have a great selection of menu items. My friend was craving a steak dinner. She said her meal was great, and my burger and sweet potato fries was good as well. The food was much better than I was expecting out of what looks like a dive bar. It wasn’t very crowded and they had a machine on the wall where you could play songs throughout the restaurant. The service could’ve been a little better, but I know that the waitress was working the few tables throughout the bar.

My Favorite Irish bar!!! And it’s not just a bar… Their Food is AMAZING too!!! My favorites are the Baja omelette, and the Philly Prime rib sandwich!!! And they have some pretty amazing weekday specials to that aren’t always menu items like on Thursdays they have tacos, enchiladas and tostadas… And of course what’s breakfast without a Bloody or 2 or 3… And make sure you ask for it Malarkeys way and they’ll top it off with a float of Guinness!!!

Love this place. A local pub with the best prime rib sandwich you will ever have. Tried the corn beef sandwich for a change and its was also fantastic. My go to place to have a few drinks and hang with other locals.

Wonderful staff. Never had a bad meal. Breakfast is off the charts and it’s 7 days a week. Their corned beef is the best I’ve ever had to date anywhere. Biscuits and gravy are the best. I could go on and on. Try their oyster soup, even if your not a fan.

I came here for beer and a light meal after spending the day at Newport Beach. When I first came in, I chose a table with my friends in the corner of the pub near the kitchen. We sat for about 10 minutes before a waiter came to our table. At that time, we all knew what we want for drinks and food. However, we had to order in segments. Drinks then food… I ordered a Magners cider and the rest of the crew settled for some basic brews because of the limited beer menu. I feel bad critiquing a beer selection, but it was a bit disappointing for a pub. Anyways, my husband and I got beef stew and a Philly prime rib sandwich. The food was nice and hearty, just what you’d expect from an Irish Pub. I tried my best to cram down the food as fast as I could because I started to get a headache due to all of the noise. I think this place is good for sports watchers. If you want a nice meal and conversation at a pub without having to yell, this might not be the best place for you. I don’t remember anything exceptional or unexceptional about service after we finally got situated. I gotta repeat, the food was very tasty. I’d like to try brunch in the future and perhaps avoid some of the crowd.

Until finding Malarkys, The Buena Vista was my favorite place for Corned Beef Hash and Irish coffee. Malarkys beats the Buena Vista and has become our number one favorite place for Breakfast. The Corned Beef melts in your mouth and the Irish coffees are the best ever. Service is excellent. In fact it’s so good I’m headed there from Vegas tomorrow.

FOOD | This review is for breakfast. You NEED to order the chili omelette. Trust me. You will have no regrets. The omelette was filled AND topped with a generous portion of delicious savory chili with tender chunks of steak in it and topped with melted cheddar cheese. SOGOOD! ATMOSPHERE | The pub felt very welcoming. There’s a cool pub feel, and we were immediately greeted when we walked in the door. The restaurant patrons were all friendly and chatting at the bar. This place has the nicest cleanest restrooms I’ve ever experienced at a pub. SERVICE | We sat at the bar. Amanda was very friendly and attentive!

Such a good breakfast selection! The corned beef and hash was a great choice; real corned beef(not canned) and excelled flavor. The chicken fried steak my BF got was quite delicious as well. It was our first time for breakfast here, and we will be back. It’s very clean and a bright restaurant.

This review is for their breakfast only. When you go to a pub for breakfast, you shouldn’t have high expectations since it probably isn’t the place’s strong suit. We came here for breakfast to watch a post-season football game and the place was almost completely full when we arrived. It took awhile for a server to come to our table nod take our order. After we ordered, it took an even longer time for our meals to arrive. The food was decent, but nothing special, which is standard for pub food. While we were there, we had about three different servers, so it was difficult to figure out who to flag down when something was needed. We requested the bill from one of our servers and she returned to our table after a few minutes to ask who took our original order. It took a while to get our check and close everything out, which was an issue since there were people around us that were looking for a table. Customer service didn’t seem to be important here, but what more can you expect from a pub?
