I don’t remember much from my last trip to Rhode Island in the 1990’s, after all I was only nine years old; however, the one memory that resonated with me was Del’s. This lemon slush is affordable, refreshing, and oh-so-tasty! I love the tiny chew you get from the small bits of lemon peel mixed in. I was intrigued by the watermelon variation, and gave it a try this visit too — but the lemon is definitely the way to go.

Never knew there was such a difference between slush and slushie. This is a delicious blended lemonade drink which is so refreshing and tasty. Not too sour, not too sweet. There’s chunks of lemon in it which you might have to pick around but other than that it’s a definite get. There’s also other flavors too! I heard the watermelon is great.

Being from New England, I’ve heard many positives about Del’s and finally got around to trying some while in Newport. This location is tucked into a doorway at decently busy intersection. Each time I passed there was a line of 2 – 3 people. I ordered the smallest size and it was $ 3.25(cash only). I was a little disappointed with the price for the size but I was surprised at how long the drink lasted. There were even some small chunks of lemon rind in there– yum! I know what the fuss is about. This drink hit the spot on a warm summer afternoon. I now know why Narragansett made their shandy with Del’s.

Ughhh. I love you, super-tasty lemony-tart slushie-ice thing, in a collectible cup. You are the perfect companion on a summer day walking around the shops in Newport. My fiancé was so excited to have you, and I may have stolen at least half of his citrusy treat. But how is it that you are so good, and you are housed behind a small counter in the corner of a doorway? Surely you deserve better than this! But I’m glad we found you in the first place, because you really made our day, Del’s. Thank you for being you!

The Lemonade slush is Ok. I think of Richies Slush being the best of the best. The one thing I did like about this slush is they have lemon rinds in their slush. I would get it again on a nice hot day.

Citrusy refreshing fun in a cup! Is its a slushy? Is it a melting Italian ice? No! It’s Dels! Can’t come to RI and not partake of a lemony icy Dels after a long hot summer day– quenching goodness!

Del’s is definitely a a Rhody treat! As a native Rhode Islander there is nothing better on a hot summer day!

Honestly, I don’t know what the fuss is all about. I mean, frozen lemonade is yummy but it’s not $ 4.50 good(cash only). $ 4.50 pays for a «jumbo» which isn’t really more than a medium drink at McDonalds. If you use a straw, you’ll suck up syrup at first, then by the end you’ll be drinking more or less ice water. There’s not that much actual«lemon» flavor. If you’ve ever been to a 7-Eleven, you’ve had better slushees for cheaper. Meh.

I’d only had Del’s from a catered truck once before and had never heard of it before that. Seeing one was like finding a Sonic around LA. *really? they exist?* What a refreshing treat after touring all around the city. I enjoyed every sip, lemon peel chunks and all.
