Quick and friendly service whether we call in, stop by for take out or eat in. Pizza is great, kids love it.

It’s rare that a Unilocal review will let me down. I truly have NO idea how D&A is getting 4 and 5 star reviews. The pizza is… well…fine? The crust is soft and thick… not crispy at all. There is enough cheese and the sauce is ok. The small pie looks like a Pizza Hut knock off. Again, it was fine. It’s not very good though. Tried the spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti was over cooked and mushy. It also wasn’t mixed with the sauce. The pasta was sitting on the bottom with just a little red sauce poured on top. The sauce was bland… badly needed salt and pepper. The meatballs were little mushy balls of meat. The flavor was fine. Overall, I was extremely underwhelmed by the food. I’m new to the area and the search will continue for quality take out pizza. This wasn’t it.

My buddy and I were craving pizza for dinner, and this was within minutes of walking distance from our Airbnb space. First and foremost, the place was very small. There isn’t much space for sitting, so one would assume they prefer takeaway. As for the food, one word sums it up quite well: delicious. The reviews aren’t wrong at all. The pizza was super tasty and the salad was great. Highly recommended!

First time and the sandwiches were great. They had the Red Sox game on. The people and atmosphere were friendly. The only little knock is that the building is a little old but that’s it.

I feel badly giving this place a low rating, because they have such good reviews, and I know someone who’s a police officer in the area and swears by them. However, we recently ordered 5 pizzas from here for a family gathering. The good news: Service was quick. They have a buy 4 get 1 free deal(which we didn’t even know, so that was a pleasant surprise)! The bad: One of our pizzas had the wrong toppings. The rest of them were right but honestly, the pizza really just wasn’t very good– especially the crust. I love pizza and would it eat it every day if I could, but for me– it honestly just wasn’t worth the calories at all :(

You can’t go wrong with D&A pizza! I get a cheese pizza from them at least once a week. They are local, friendly, and efficient. Their cheese pizza is also one of those pizzas that still tastes good when it’s been sitting for a little or first thing in the morning. Besides their pizza I recommend the meatball sub! Super yummy! And everything is reasonably priced. If you’re thinking about trying it out, do it! You will be hooked!

Greatest Chicken Parmesan sub I’ve ever had… The service is more than friendly. You can tell the guys behind the counter really love what they do and take pride in the delicious food they create. I’ve been there only twice now. The second time I had a steak bomb fully loaded and that was another home-run. The bread alone is outstanding, then they pack that with the freshest of ingredients and wow! The slice of pizza I had was a small delight itself. I can’t wait for another chance to go back to this place. I highly recommend eating here. The best.

Pizza of last resort. The owner very stingy with sides of grated cheese — even when offering to pay extra. Not worth the aggravation.

I’ve been coming to D & A for quite a while now, but just starting using Unilocal… Been thinking of my favorites to review. They were one of the firsts to come to mind. Quick — 10 mins or less. Efficient — always gets my order right! Love love love the meatball subs! Homemade meatballs that are sliced so it doesn’t roll outta your bun! ‼ The Greek Salads are always fresh! Big Love the pizza’s — great homemade sauce. All the guys in there are wicked friendly !.

They have the best pepperoni pizza I have ever had in my life! Flavorful, just enough amount of every ingredient, and the crispy crust is the best! I almost ate the whole small pizza by myself.(I’m a girl who weighs 110lbs) Fast friendly service and awesome-tasting food. The turkey wrap is also fresh and juicy!

I moved to Newton in 2008 and have been coming to this place since the first day we moved in. It is my favorite pizza and sub shop. The pizza is always fresh as well as the deli meats and sub rolls. Everything on the menu is good, and priced well. You can get spaghetti meal for 8 bucks, small pizza for 5, or a large pizza with meat for $ 11. There are about 4 booths to sit at, small place. They are open late– I always call my order in for pick up.

Love the pizzas here! Especially the steak and cheese one. The pizzas here are on the thinner side(I love thin pizzas). It probably took the pizzas about 15 minutes to finish cooking. We called in for pick up… and when I arrived 15 minutes later, it was all ready for me! One large steak and cheese costs a little more than $ 11 after taxes. Ugh, I must have been starving because I devoured half the pizza(4 slices) :-/ I’ve also eaten a bunch of different subs here: Italian, Chicken Parm, Meatball. All made fresh right there and then. I usually get a small sub and it’s pretty filling. It’s a bit over $ 6 for a small. The guys here are super nice! I’m not from Newton, but whenever I go, it seems like these guys have alot of regulars and they know them all!

In New York, one out of every three diners is Greek owned, in Massachusetts it seems like that statistic rings true for pizzerias. I figured that a pizzeria in Nonantum would be Italian owned, but their panorama of Nafplio on the wall gave it away. I wouldn’t call this pizza New York-style, but it doesn’t pretend to be. Several restaurants in Waltham tout an un-authentic slice, and even the places in Boston are often thin crusted floppy slices. Their small pizza with peppers and onions had a decent crust, a sweet sauce and maybe just a bit too much cheese. The real honorable mention for this place is the subs. Their eggplant sub was phenomenal, and that sweet tomato sauce is excellent for it.

Wow, having not been there in a while and now working in the area, I’ve paid a visit to this place a couple of times recently — it is in walking distance from my office — and cannot believe how mediocre it is. Especially since so many reviews indicate the opposite. Most recently I got an order of spaghetti and meatballs to go and after waiting for it to be made, which took nearly ten minutes, I left the store with an aluminum plate full of pasta and chopped up meatballs. The plate was placed inside of a paperbag and they gave me a paper plate to insulate my hands from the heat. Needless to say that I didn’t walk one hundred yards before I burnt myself and before the spaghetti sauce made it’s way through the paper bag and onto my jacket. Pissed. But no big deal, I was hungry and when I got to the office a minute later, cleaned up and decided to take a bite of my dish I found it to be absolutely disgusting. The pasta was unseasoned, overcooked and the meatballs were far from juicy, moist, tender and flavorful. Instead I had these hard lumps of mystery meat that were served on top of this crappy pasta. It was by far the worst plate of spaghetti and meatballs that I’ve ever had. The small piece of bread which was a bit dry and which came with it was almost like adding salt to my wounds. I wouldn’t even dare serve that kind of dish to a dog. Now I have to sit there and hope that I don’t get sick from this… Honestly this is hugely disappointing and on top of that their minimum to pay by card is $ 20, and their service isn’t even friendly. I cannot in my own, right mind give this place anything above a one star — a star that stands for mediocre food, mediocre service and mediocre execution. There’s much better alternatives within a few blocks from this place and I’d caution you to use this as your very last resort. Especially with Nudo Gelateria next door which cook up some tasty paninis. No thanks.
