Salt cave was pretty cool. It’s in a small room with several other gravity chairs near by so I was pretty happy to be informed by the receptionist that she blocked it off the whole room for me.

This review is for the SALTCAVE only. My friend and I took advantage of the July special(purchase a salt cave session for $ 49 and bring 1 friend for free for the same session) so we split the price which was nice because I don’t think I would have paid $ 49 right off the bat to experience something I’ve never done before.(There is also a Groupon going on right now that is 3 or 5 sessions for $ 743 or $ 107). My friend and I arrived on time, filled out some paperwork and then were given the booty covers for our feet. We were able to place our things in a small locker with a key lock which we kept on our wrists. Unlike a review I read below we were not required to take off our shoes and if you are given the option I would recommend keeping them on because the floor is all salt and it may hurt your feet. My friend and I were the only ones there so we were able to chat a little. As mentioned below if there are others in the room they ask you remain silent. The chairs inside were comfortable(classy lawn/beach chairs that recline all the way back.) Once the woman left the room the light went off and the session began. The music and lighting were very relaxing. I would say it had more of a salt«room» feel than a salt«cave.» I fell asleep for about 20 minutes and the rest of the time I read a book from my phone. It’s been 24 hours since my session and I’ve noticed a difference in my breathing — I’m usually really stuffy in the morning(mostly due to the air conditioner running all night) but this morning I woke up fine. I’ll definitely be back. It was a great way to unwind after a long day and I love that it has health benefits!

I went in for a massage because my shoulders and neck were hurting. The massage was uncomfortable and the ambience was sub-par. The music was odd, the florescent lighting wasn’t great, and my masseuse kept jostling things and making noise by accident. The massage itself had motions that were too fast and too hard, like quickly squeezing my shoulders repeatedly. She also did«indian rug burns» on my arms and the quick tapping along my back and legs. It felt like an amateur massage and I was waiting for it to be over. She was very nice, but admitted to not remembering things from school when I asked about how to improve my shoulders. Won’t be going back.

My boyfriend was having sleeping and breathing problems so I brought him here as a surprise! I was definitely expecting a lot more after reading the crazy experiences other Unilocal-ers had. We went into the room and chose seats next to each other. The attendant left the room and started playing the music. The music was definitely relaxing, but I thought the room was too cold. I couldn’t really relax because I was shivering the whole time. At the end of session, I was definitely disappointed. My breathing didn’t improve, and neither did my boyfriend’s. It was definitely an interesting experience, but I don’t think I’ll come again.

Received a gift card for this place for Christmas, finally got to try it out last week. I have to say that I was pretty excited to go try out the salt room and a facial. When I got there, sadly I was disappointed. I arrived and there was a guy at the desk who took my name and gave me some paperwork to fill out. Once I was done he gave me booties and told me I could put them over my shoes or just on my bare feet and just walked me to the salt room. I find it weird that they don’t have you change into spa clothes before going in there and the salt gets all over your clothes and gets grimey. Also, they didn’t tell you that the floor is all raw salt and if you put the booties on without shoes it hurts your feet. I sat there, and while I was completely relaxed — I did not feel different nor do I feel that there was any benefit to this. Next was the facial, the girl came out to greet me and brought me into the room where she instructed me to change into the towel wrap and headband. She told me she was going to explain every step of the facial as she went. She actually talked the WHOLE time. Asked questions to make conversation and explained what she was doing and I didn’t relax at all. I have had many facials in my life, one of my favorite things to do and this was probably the worst one I’ve had. The foot and arm massage was pathetic, this woman really didn’t know what she was doing. There was barely any massage or treatment of the face, it was basically 2 steps. She didn’t ask me anything about my skin or what kind of facial I wanted, just assumed I wanted the basic run-of-the-mill service. The extraction process was PAINFUL — I had to ask her to stop. I was concerned that there would be holes in my face. My skin didn’t feel different or better when I left. I was actually kind of put out that I had to pay for this(gift card was only for half the amount of services), that’s how much I didn’t enjoy it. Don’t think I’d go to this place again.

To be the only Salt Spa of New England, it can’t get better than that. I purchased a groupon for 60 minutes — salt spa. I decided it would be a good idea to come here to relax with my boyfriend since it was our anniversary. The workers here are genuinely friendly and respectful(major plus). Before we got into the room, they ensured that we helped ourselves with their refreshing water that had cucumber and lemon in it so that we stay hydrated. We had to wear the booties before entering the cave for hygiene reasons, there were about 5 seats, we could pick any seats. Originally, there salt spa is only 45 minutes. They left us for 45 minutes, and said we could stay for an extra 15 if we like which was very nice! We actually did make use of the extra 15 minutes. When we reclined our chairs, my boyfriend felt so comfortable, and constantly chit chatted with me, then fell straight to sleep. I on the other hand had a difficult sleeping because of the music. The music combined the sounds of nature and the flute I believe. Sometimes the flute would be loud, somethings it would be soft, sometimes the pitch would be high and sometimes low. Therefore, it kept my head busy. I should have brought something to keep me busy inside the room. I love the taste of salt so tasting the salt was yummy lol. At the end of it, we walked out and the worker took her time and asked us what we thought of it. She reminded us to drink lots of water. Very nice service. It’s been a couple of days, and I noticed that my nose is less stuffy than usual — AMAZING. I asked my boyfriend what he thought about it, any effects and he said his skin feels nicer! Oh yea, really hate when people get sources from a certain website and make it seem like it’s their idea, but don’t cite it, isn’t it called plagiarizing? Something to think about.

WOW. This review is only for the salt caves and service. I have a Tibetan Salt rock that you put a candle inside and burn to neutralize odors or energy in the room, and I swear by this thing. One time our neighbors barbecued and stunk our whole apartment up and this one candle changed everything. So to imagine myself sitting in a room made of this kind of salt breathing it in intrigued me. Really glad I came across this place! Usually I only review somewhere after I’ve tried more than one service or eaten a few times — however Alantra is new and everyone should experience the SALTCAVES at least once. Apparently in London and Europe salt caves are all the rage. They help with every ailment from sinus issues, ear infections, ADHD, Asthma, Bronchitis, Sleeplessness, Acne/Eczema, Psoriasis, Snoring or Arthritis. Alantra has the only salt cave in all of New England. I didn’t realize how lucky we were to live so close to one. What a way to wind down a long week. Called ahead and booked an 745pm Salt Cave experience with my husband. We both got a little lost and ended up getting there 15 minutes late. Wish I could remember who helped us — but she is the nicest woman. So relaxing, giving, kind. She assured us it was no problem and we were perfectly on time because it was only us anyway and they close at 9pm and we have a 45 minute session. Ahhhhhhhh. After filling out a few forms, and locking up our shoes in a private locker w/key — we are escorted to THECAVE. You’ll first see a calming blue light and 4 zero gravity lounge chairs to kick back in. The floor is loose salt, the walls are basically spackled salt along with the ceiling — which also has shooting stars to gaze upon. Once you get started — you essentially pick a chair and get comfy. It’s best to lay back as far as possible to open up the lungs and the trance music begins, the lights slowly change from blue to green to pink while a slow warm air is pumped into the cave. All you have to do is kick back and breathe it in. We both remarked immediately — the experience is like being in an acid trip. It’s WEIRD. Because it was just my husband and I we could talk, however they request you keep quiet if you are sharing a room. You can bring in an iPod or a book or just sleep. When the session is over a white light in the center of the room goes on, you know to get up — get your belongings and exit quietly. You’ll be a little thirsty so they are ready for you with a cold glass of cucumber water. They told us some people remark being able to sleep easier — judging from my husband immediately falling asleep in the car I’d have to say yes — it’s true. It completely opens your sinuses if you have any sinus issues. And if anything — if you are not into spa experiences it’s a really relaxing environment and you stay fully clothed and its a quiet time to enjoy after a long day. Who couldn’t use that? On the way out we were offered introductory coupons for facials and massages or another salt cave session. I’ll definitely be back. Alantra is a step above the ordinary spa experience with service and services!
