I used to love this Subway. The lady manager(can’t remember her name) was always very friendly, remembered my face, remembered what I liked to order, and always kept her eye open for when I needed to reload my subway card. I loved her! Which is why this isn’t a total 1 star — based solely on my experience with her. However, lately, there has been an older Indian guy with glasses who is a total ass-hat. He’s condescending and doesn’t seem to care about the customers at all. I’m not sure whether he is the owner, manager, or just a worker who puts on an air of authority, but this guy has totally lost my business with this place. Subway has a deal when you load a gift card with $ 25, you get a free 6″ sub. This is what I asked for when I handed him my subway card and credit card. Turns out, I had about 50 cents on my gift card, which he charged off and then charged the rest of my order on my credit card, never loading the gift card or charging my credit card. Since I was in a hurry, I didn’t look at the receipt, since I’ve always had positive experiences with this location. Next day, I came in, and realize there’s no money on my gift card. The guy who MADE my sandwich the day before remembered me, remembered the whole scenario, but the guy I had an issue with says he doesn’t remember me, he never gave any free sandwich or loaded any gift card. None of this I realized was true until I looked at my credit card history online. But just the way this guy handled me, looking at me as if I was crazy and not worth a damn… I left without the sandwich that was just made for me. Not only was there this issue, but this location seems to be very stingy and cheap when it comes to promotions. Every other subway I visit has extended their $ 6 footlong promotion or has daily specials of some sort. It seems like this place only has promotions when the Subway corporation forces them to have them. Lucky for me, there is a great location just around the bend on 22nd street. They have just won my business thanks to this jerk.

Staff here are very very very slow. This one black lady made my sandwich. I told her twice not to put jalapeños. I go home and eat the sandwich and there are jalapeños on it. Bread was also stale. They didn’t give me a receipt either. They just threw my sandwich on the counter and did not say«thank you» or anything. The employees here really need to learn some proper customer service. Will never go back to this crappy location again. There is one nearer to me which is 1000x better. They never offered to toast my sandwich either. The staff was so slow that there was such a large line behind me. Very dissatisfied and will not come to this locations again. The employees are incompetent.

We tried the soup for the first time, both the chicken noodle and baked potato. They were pretty bad. We ended up throwing both of them away. I’m not sure how fresh the soup was but it didn’t taste fresh. The girl pulled the soup from a plastic container in the fridge, put in a bowl, and microwaved it. Both had a funky flavor and the texture of the potato soup wasn’t right. The sandwiches were ok.

Staff is slow and makes crappy sandwiches. The line was long because one of the workers was cleaning the bathroom and the manager had to go yell at her. Meh, find a different shop.

I like Subway a whole lot. When I worked in a town that had far less dining options, I ate at Subway every fricking day. I never missed a day, honestly. People stopped asking me where I was going for lunch because they already knew what I was going to say and who really likes a boring, repetitive answer? Now that I find myself in a 5 mile radius of every lunch spot you could imagine, Subway is still in my rotation but not as heavily. When I do find myself craving a footlong(TWSS) I go to this particular location, even though there are a couple closer to my work. The food has always been fresh — I’ve never had the same problems that Sherill S has. In fact, one thing about Subway that I pay attention to is the frequency of them washing their hands after touching the register, money, etc. I’ve noticed some employees at other locations that don’t wash thoroughly or don’t wash at all, so this is something that you have to pay attention to. The reason for the 5 star rating is because I have this dumb thing which I’ve now down twice. I throw my keys in my purse, grab my wallet and lock my car — all the while, leaving my damn keys inside of the car. It’s the most embarrassing thing ever to try to explain because you just sound like a complete dumbass with the lowest IQ ever. I did it at Subway once. The lady working was so nice and told me not to be upset. She told me she’s done it before and the OBT police were more than happy to come and unlock her car. She got the non-emergency OBT police phone number for me and they were there within a few minutes. She really made me feel like this was something that happens everyday and talked to me while I waited. Good customer service goes far in the world because it’s not as commonplace as it used to be. It doesn’t take a whole lot of effort to be nice but it makes the world of difference.

Ew. Stale bread, employees make sandwiches and don’t wash their hands. There were flies everywhere, including on the food…

I’m not normally in Oakbrook Terrace, but I had to take an employee to a doctor’s appointment down the street and we stopped here for lunch. This seemed to be a newer location –it was bright, cheery and clean. Also, I really liked the staff –they were super friendly and even tried to speak a little Spanish to help the employee with his order. I’ve become a fan recently of Subway, as I’m watching what I eat and I like that they have calorie counts for their meals. I have to say, it’s a pretty filling meal for the 400 or so calories –way better than the Lean Cuisines I eat from time to time! I like Subway’s healthier approach to its menu items!
