This is one of the best salon’s I’ve been to. The experience started with the very friendly and attentive staff. The receptionist offered complimentary refreshments, varying from wine or beer to coffee or juice, before my hair cut. At 10AM I opted for coffee, but I think I’ll go for the wine next time.
Vanessa was my stylist and she is fantastic! I showed her a picture of a hairstyle I liked and she mirrored it flawlessly. The haircut included a wash with shampoo/​conditioner and even a hot towel treatment.
10/​10, would definitely come back!

It is quite hard to find an incredible hair stylist, in the state of California. Upon our extensive research, and travels, we found, ¹⁸⁄₈ Fine Men’s Salon in Oakland, CA. I got the special treatment for my man! Beer and a haircut, OH YEAH! His stylist was incredibly talented, and took extraordinary care of my boyfriend, and her name was Natalie! She was knowledgeable, very friendly, and a true stylist at heart. My man came out looking like a billion bucks! And, he was happy too! Every time he gets a haircut, something is off. Not this time or ever again, because Natalie will be his stylist for now on! Next time, I think he should get a streak of purple in his hair, because she also offers creative coloring!

Wasn’t quite sure what to expect going here for the first time, but it was a fantastic experience. I usually dread getting my hair cut, but the staff here were extremely relaxed, professional, and put me at ease. My stylist Vanessa gave me the best cut I’ve gotten in years. Highly recommend!

I am blown away by this place. We found it during a visit to Lake Merritt, and I was able to just walk in and get my hair cut without waiting. They had a glass of wine for me (nice touch!) and I was able to relax and enjoy the hair cut in a really nice setting. I’m not used to spending that much for a haircut (i.e. More than $ 20) but this was worth it!
Vanessa was great, she did a great job on my haircut and I will definitely be going back.
On top of all of that, we took our son a few months later, and he not only had a great haircut (for $ 15), but they sent him a thank you card a few days later.
This salon goes above and beyond with service, and I highly recommend it. If I could give them more stars I would!

My first visit. I had my hair cut by Dominica. She did a good job, and I could have directed her better on what I wanted. ¹⁸⁄₈ offers different levels of service providers and I’m use to working with a more master level who has a solid idea of what will look good on me. Next time, I’ll be sure to communicate that because I really liked her friendliness, attention to detail, and care for my well being during the cut. The cut comes with a complimentary shoulder and neck massage which felt great and was very relaxing.
The salon itself is made for men, and it’s clean, modern, and stylish. There are plenty of amenities for waiting and it’s in a great location on Lakeshore. Setting up an online appointment was a breeze, and I got regular text reminders. I will definitely be back and I look forward to trying other services in the future.
For those who are not used to going to a fine salon, the first haircut may seem to be like any other haircut. The difference is not so much in the way they cut it, but in the way it will look as it grows out. A well done haircut will look good far longer than a cheap haircut, and once the salon cut has grown out, the hair stylist will have much more to work with to create something more stylish and right for the man. So don’t commit to going just once. Plan on two visits to at least get it right.

The best haircut I’ve ever had!
Walked into the salon at around 10:15am and they took me right in even without an appointment. Got offered complimentary drinks and got rock massage. The interior of the salon is very nice along with the staff.
Chelsea cut my hair and she was great. Have never gotten this many compliments on my hair.
The price is a bit higher than other places, but I do think it is totally worth it.

Where is my stylist, Maisah. I drove all the way to see her, come to find she’s not available. Nor was I informed, before making the trip. Don’t you realize personal upkeep, and who you choose to do it is like a good pair of shoes? Take care of them and they’ll keep you on your feet. Guess i’ll be taking my business to Roseville, closer to home and better customer service. So disappointed.

The staff of ¹⁸⁄₈ are professional, provide great customer service and are skilled barbers/​stylist. Vanessa is awesome and has given me great haircuts. She provides recommendations on products which I appreciate. I recently joined the ¹⁸⁄₈ membership which offers discounted services.
¹⁸⁄₈ also offer Sunday appointments which is a huge plus, is very clean and on a recent visit the owner greeted the customers… a nice touch.
Five stars are well deserved.

Best hair cutting experience of my life, I plan on going back regularly. Great price for the service and everyone was nice, attentive and fun.

Really like the idea of a male-​centric salon where all the pampering can take place. I worked with Vanessa who provided me with a manicure, a relaxing facial and a spot-​on haircut. Obviously a little pricier than your typical chop-​shop but you get what you pay for. Kudos also to the variety of music!

Very nice, professional service, complementary beer, very good haircut by Maisah. I will definitely return. Slightly more expensive than your general guys barbershop haircut, but the treatment and quality are worth it. (And beer).

Maisah is amazing. If/​when you go here, ask for her. She is attentive, careful, and pays attention to detail. She moves deliberately when cutting your hair, but does not rush — and overall, the value for the service is top notch.
This ¹⁸⁄₈ is right on Lakeshore Ave, and a welcome addition to the neighborhood. When you walk in they offer you a coffee, tea, beer, or wine. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and service oriented. They hang up your shirt before a cut, and ask you to put on an ¹⁸⁄₈ shirt, so you don’t get hair all over your clothes. They wash your hair afterwards so you don’t get hair all over yourself when you’re out and about. It’s small details like this that you can appreciate.
This isn’t your $ 15 haircut place. If that’s what you want, there are other options. Come to ¹⁸⁄₈ to get good value, but pay a bit more for your service, and get attention to small details that make a big difference.

As a loyal regular of the ¹⁸⁄₈ in Irvine, I was excited to continue my relationship with this incomparable franchise.
LOCATION
This ¹⁸⁄₈ is located off Lakeshore, which is a gorgeous slice of Oakland. Parking is very easy (just pay the machine a couple bucks per hour), and the venue is easily accessible.
ATMOSPHERE
Perfect. The ¹⁸⁄₈ standard of excellence is as real in the Bay as it was in Southern California. It’s a clean and crisp facility, you’re offered a complimentary beverage as soon as you come in, and the staff is warm and friendly. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer start.
THE HAIRCUT
A big thank you to Maisah, for her time, skill, and sense of humor. We had a great time, mostly exchanging stories and learning more about my hair. I’ve spent most of my life ignoring my hair, or looking into how to better style it. Maisah knew my hair within seconds, performed a perfect cut (I can’t stress this enough– I’m very pleased with how this cut turned out), and she even showed me how to apply product! Short of that, we even sampled multiple products just to see what worked best for me. She was patient, paid special attention to detail, and was not done until I was pleased with the outcome (which didn’t take long at all).
I need hardly say that I will be back. Irvine has been a pleasure, and I continue to recommend it to my friends who live in that area. But ¹⁸⁄₈ Lakeshore has exceeded my expectations, and I am looking forward to coming back. I encourage everybody in the East Bay (and beyond) to check this place out. You won’t be disappointed!

My boyfriend gets notoriously bad haircuts from cheap Asian salons so I finally convinced him to try this new salon. It’s only a block away from our house and I thought for sure the stylists would know what they’re doing and give him a better cut. Well, $ 70 later, he literally has the same exact haircut he always gets from the Chinese lady down the block, only it cost him 3x as much and he is pissed that he also had to sit there for over an hour (in their completely empty salon).

Thank you Maisah! I’ve not been able to find a good local place for a haircut and typically have my haircut in San Francisco while at work. I decided to try ¹⁸⁄₈ since they recently opened nearby. I’m glad I did. Maisah did a wonderful job. She knows what she is doing and takes pride in her craft. She is also a wonderful person to have a conversation with. ¹⁸⁄₈ provide a very relaxing atmosphere (along with wine/​beer) and a number of additional services in addition to haircuts. I also like the ability to book an appointment online.
I’m thrilled to have a high quality place to have a haircut in my neighborhood, I intend to go back, and will try out some of their other services in the future.

I walked in with a 2-​week old disaster of a barbershop chop job and left with a hip-​er version of a Wall St cut. The scalp and neck massage didn’t hurt neither! I’m looking forward to my next cut all ready.
The concept here is brilliant: provide high-​end service in a classy setting at very decent prices. Oh yeah — and served with a nice pint or glass if you like.

I was in the area for work and had some time to kill when i came across 18I8. I walked in slightly skeptical about getting my hair cut at mens salon, instead of my usual $ 15 haircut place. First off the girl at the counter with her genuine smile greets me and I already begin to feel comfortable.
Maisah was my stylist and she made me feel relaxed and with how much I’ve been working It felt good to be pampered. Maisah did a excellent job and ill be back to see her again. The owner Chis even greeted me and asked how i was doing, and chatted it up with me.
In general I would give this place 6 STARS if possible. The people here are awesome. I felt like i has hanging out with family and friends, and i just met these people.
