Man Lung was a Chinese grocery store owned by Mrs. Hong and her family. They sold fruits, vegetables, Chinese groceries such as rice, packs of mung bean thread, lop cheong, preserved eggs, etc. Occasionally, my parents, especially my mom, would send me to this store when we ran out of a certain food item and we would do a trade-off. I also liked going to this store because Mrs. Hong was always nice to me. Sometimes she would give a piece of hard coconut candy, chen pai mui or a small sesame cookie to snack on. She also did that with my sisters and brothers.
