Just wanted to write a quick review about Manny my regular barber i see here. Manny gives me the best haircuts I’ve ever had. I always leave felling like a million bucks and a little extra swagger in my step. My fade is always super clean and tight and I always get compliments on my hair after a visit to him… Manny Rocks!

My side shaved Pixie turned out to be some sort of odd cone head concoction. I even showed pictures and still… I have a male’s hair cut. My fault for trying to save money. If you’re a girl and your aim is cute, don’t go here. Make sure the person cutting your hair has a long and well established line of a variety of hairstyles. **** Added another star. After washing my hair and adding style to it, it’s not as bad as I thought. Updating the picture to show the difference.

New to the area; took a leap of faith based on Unilocal reviews. Was not disappointed. Had a beard trim with Rob and he did an excellent job. He was professional and took the time to make sure everything was even. Been growing my beard for a year and this was the 1st trim I had. Rob will get my business from now on. The environment was welcoming and everyone working seemed nice and talkative. Lots of product for sale should that need arise.

I had long hair, 24 inches to be exact it’s been a long time since I got cut. I found this place by luck, kinda ran into it and I wanted a certain modern hair cut that I thought would take great skill. I made an appointment with Rick. Man what a great barber, this guy knows his trade and went the extra mile for me by making sure I was comfortable with my new style. Great shop, everyone is the place was friendly. There were other barbers cutting hair at the same time and they all looked like they had experience and knew what they were doing. I would highly recommend I have found a new spot. Gk

So I’ve now been to two hipsterish barber shops in Oakland. I definitely had a better experience at Slick and Dapper. The cutter(Sonia) knew what she was doing and made sure she gave me what I had asked for. Also appreciated the offer of a drink. Was pretty satisfied with the cut, and I don’t foresee going somewhere else in Oakland. Overall, slick and dapper is a solid barber shop, Definitely recommend.

I took my 91-year-old father here today for a shampoo, haircut and shave. It had been months since he’d had a professional cut, and he desperately needed a good shave, too. Everyone at Slick and Dapper was absolutely great with him. I called ahead to ask if they work with elderly clients. The woman who answered the phone enthusiastically assured me that they do, which was a really nice first impression. Our barber, Ray, was excellent. He was very patient and gentle, working around my father’s various physical limitations that include a broken back and partial deafness. Ray took his time giving my father an excellent cut and shave, chatting with him, answering his questions, and cracking him up through the whole process, too. We never felt rushed or unimportant. This shop is a really good mix of past and present. The clientele ranges from the young to the old and from traditional business people to hipster/techie-types to the ink and metal crowd(my usual circle). Most of them were clearly regulars, which is always a good sign. The environment is comfortable and old-fashioned, not the neon and bright lights scene that makes my father feel out of place, but the cuts they were giving were very much what’s in style these days. There were several beards being tended to. Plus, they offer cold beer while you wait, and there’s old-school ’60’s-’80’s rock playing in the background, not blaring at top volume, which is nice. It’s got a laid back feel, but it’s pleasantly humming with activity. Slick and Dapper is just what we were looking for, a low-key neighborhood spot with skilled, accommodating and welcoming professionals. We will absolutely be back.

My partner got his haircut here recently. He was satisfied with Manny’s work but put off/offended by his lack of respect and basic customer service. Didn’t respond to light conversation, didn’t offer the free beverage, made really gross assumptions about my partner and i’s relationship and identities. asked for a hard part and almost forgot had my partner not reminded him. Probably won’t be back to this location.

3.5 stars… bumping up to 4. I’ve personally never had my hair cut here, but my son and now my husband both have. I can really only speak for my experience with my son since I was present for that, but generally speaking, husband was happy with his service and claims he will return. He does the slick hipster undercut hair with massive beard look. For my son, who is 3 and sat incredibly well for his cut, I can say that I will most likely return. There were two things that rubbed me the wrong way just a little: Our appointment was the first of the day and when we arrived, two other families were there with their boys for cuts. It was right around back to school time. So it was really cute to see all the boys getting cut… however, the stylists didn’t really think so? I guess I’m expecting just a little bit of friendliness? Our stylist didn’t say hello to me or my son. She seemed a little rough on a three year old who I was very proud of, sat like a champ and tried his best to do as she ‘pushed’(physically, on head or whatever). Maybe she has never had a lot of experience with kids? She literally didn’t say a word to him through all of it. I originally approached her so I could tell her what my ideas and needs where. She was pretty good but she didn’t give me the cut I asked for and showed her in a photo. She cut his hair WAY shorter than I requested(maybe it’s my language? I asked her to keep most of the length on top… she cut over an inch off). But at the same time, it’s not a bad cut, it will hopefully grow out nicely. Overall, good deal but lacking in friendly customer service. Kids are kids, they respond well to adults who are patient and kind… and communicative! Reasonable prices for the service.

*opens door with bell ringing **you know an angel gets its wings when a bell rings *I think of that and it always gives me a big ol smile Great morning to ya. *I imagine her saying hello. **I have a vivid imagination *in reality her eyes looked up, made contact, and went back to her computer Ummm. I’m here for a haircut. «Do you have an appointment?» No *… long LONG silence… taps feet with a nervous dance Okay *guess I’ll grab a seat *I start reading my book…**ten minutes later So… do you have an idea of how long it’ll be? «Do you have an appointment?» No. *…long LONG silence *continues reading **ten minutes later Umm… Is this place appointment only? «Yes» Okay. Thanks for letting me know. This place is appointment, only. FYI Just so you know. The lady in front might not.

Lesson learned today, always stick with the person who knows how to cut your hair. I got someone else today and this person absolutely butchered my hair. I specifically ask for a certain style and not only did she messed it up by cutting it way too short, she couldn’t fade for jack shit. The side looks so bumpy and when I asked her to fix it, she responded«where? I don’t see it». It’s not my job to make my hair perfect, I’m sitting there paying you $ 25 for a cut and its your job to figure it out. And if you can’t see it then sorry… I guess I will never see you again. Worst experience with this barber, aside from that my usual cuts from my regular barber are usually on point

Slick and Dapper is HANDSDOWN the best barbershop in Oakland! Rob, aka Blackbeard the Barber, knows exactly how to cut and his skills never fail me. A steal considering what you pay for. Priceless on the awesome comments I get from random people. Big ups to Rob for showing all how its done.

Best place I’ve done my hair cut in the last few good years. I arrived with no reservation and the were booked, but Many agreed to do my hair regarding him being on his brake. The last time I’ve seen someone doing a haircut with wet hair was in Europe. Many using that professional technique as well. He was quick and professional. The best part is that now I look great again. Do me a favor and don’t go to other«wanna be» hair dressers. When you get here, ask for Many. You won’t be disappointed. Guaranteed.

Super cuts for Hipsters. That’s it. Rubbish haircut. I had to go back to have them fix it. Looked nothing like I asked, no scissors involved all clippers. I said«keep the length» they heard«take it all off». I wear glasses and have to remove them them so I can’t see! Groovy place but kinda silly too. Took em 12 mins tops. Never going back.

Came here once I realized how dumb it was to wait 90 minutes for a haricut at the Temescal alley barber. This place is legit. Free coffee and excellent customer service. You can schedule your appointment so you don’t have to waste your entire morning for a 20 minute haircut! Would I recommend this place to a friend? Yes.

Was able to make a same-day appointment. Good location. Plenty of street parking. Staff seemed nice. They ask you if you want a beer or soft drink while you wait. Came in looking like a mess and then Holly fixed me up good. Holly treated me right. She knows what she’s doing. Got a short haircut for $ 23 + tip. Definitely, coming back.

Slick and dapper is my JAM! and Angela is the bomb. I grew up an oakland and a lot the OG barbers are retired or just don’t got it anymore(Hey it happens). Slick and Dapper is the truth! Angela was the barber who always hooked me up. She knew just what I wanted and if wasn’t sure, then her suggestions were always. ALWAYS on point. The rest of the staff is great and Holly comes with the skills too. If you are going to get hooked up in the town. Slick and dapper will always have you on point.

Good Goly Ms. Holly! She is super cool and patient. My kids feel at ease with her and she follows your request to a Tee! She’s always busy so make sure to make an appt. The vibe here is laid back, although it really is for grown-ups rather than kids. They offer cerveza and beverages to grown folk but nothing for kiddos, granted kids should not be offered alcoholic beverages. They should stock on juice boxes or root beer. They are willing to change the channel to PG shows when kids are around. I’m down with $ 15 haircuts! You should be too!

Sometimes, «it isn’t you, it’s me» means … just the opposite. But here, please believe me, I’m telling the truth. Nancy: I was feeling insecure You might not love me anymore I was shivering inside I was shivering inside Oh, I didn’t mean to hurt you I’m sorry that I made you cry Oh no, I didn’t want to hurt you … Holly cut my hair. I know I know(frying pan suddenly seems to have a life of its own; ashtray flies) … I was going to meet BG’s parents for the first time and I planned poorly and when I called to see if you could help make me pretty you were already otherwise engaged. I knew you would be. And I know that I should have waited and gone shaggy to the South and taken what came because that was proper but no I didn’t do that. Now I love Holly too. I may as well just say it. Holly is excellent as well. You both are. I don’t love one more than the other, I really don’t. And that my wheel could stop on such TLC twice in a row is, well … Kind of scary. Please in your heart if you can find a way to forgive me. I truly am an honorable man. (that’s what the OG thought too, I think, when he met me, thanks to you guys)
