Wrote this over the summer on my phone. Just realized it never posted. Had the orange chili fish salad yesterday. What a nice change from the normal boardwalk fare. Fresh greens with small pieces of fried fish and a light dressing. It was fresh and tasty. I would give it 5 stars bur I did not taste the orange in my salad. I will come back any day!

Stands out on a boardwalk full of pizza and ice cream. Fast food with quality at or above Chipotle. Chips, guac, and taco’s are excellent !!

Yay for gluten free options on the boardwalk! I don’t mean to seem ungrateful but the service and the tacos themselves just aren’t that great — and it’s pretty pricey to boot. I would give four stars just for being gluten free but everything else falls short. The tacos are super messy which is a bummer because they don’t have seating so you kind of have to eat them on a bench and watch the insides drip all over your clothing. My kids like the chicken tacos with just cheese, which isn’t too messy. I have had chicken, steak, fish and bb tacos and they are okay. I prefer to spend my dime at the Bashful Banana.

Here is a summary : Food– Okay… Not great. But okay Price– A little High Quality– I have better tacos at home. Service– Normal teenagers work there Yes I go there only because it is located on the boardwalk. If it wasn’t on the boardwalk I wouldn’t make a special trip…

My, my, quite a step up from the average boardwalk fare I seem to see popping up and closing every single summer. And I’m hoping that the folks marching up and down the boards realize that. Though I will say that, if the reaction of the seagulls is anything to judge the food by, folks should be FLOCKING to this stand(bahaha, see what I did there?) Showing up around 9:30 on a Tuesday night in the middle of July, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but didn’t hit any line. I DID however, have to cope with a pork shortage(a pork-age?) which almost prevented me from enjoying their BBQ Pulled Pork taco. ALMOST, but not quite, as the fellow in front of me took pity on my porkless self and left me enough pork for a single, glorious taco. With my other taco option(I like that you can mix and match), I went for the Authentic Chicken taco. I was fully satisfied not only with the taste, but the size of what I expected to be two tiny tacos. The corn tortillas were packed to the brim(do tacos have a brim) with toppings including delicious salsas, flavorful cilantro(which, if you don’t like cilantro, is easily avoidable, as it’s tacked onto the taco at the end), and sour cream. I LOVED how light-handed they were on the sour cream, as lately my tacos have been DROWNED in it other places, and the Ahumada salsa(medium, tomatillos/chipotle flavor) was on point. They also toss a few chips into the little carton which I found especially convenient when I had extra fillings spill out and needed a tool to eat them. My ONLY complaint would’ve been that, since I was getting the last pork of the night, it was a little over-sauced. These definitely weren’t «walking» foods and, if that’s what you’re looking for, stick to the pizza and french fries. But if you’re interested in a step outside the«usual», nab a spot on a bench, be wary of the seagulls, and grab a few extra napkins.

In a «sea» of pizza, ice cream and funnel cakes, Pure Taco really stands out. I had eaten here at the end of last season, and I remembered being wowed by the quality of food I was actually getting on the boardwalk. It haunted me all winter long. So, my first weekend back at the shore, I made sure to get my Pure Taco fix. I love fish tacos, so I decided to try them here. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw them bring out RAW pieces of fish and throw them into the pan to make MY tacos! Made-to-order fish tacos on the Ocean City boardwalk? I’ve truly died and gone to heaven. Also, they did a cool promotion during Memorial Day Weekend for free chips and choice of salsa with a Facebook check-in. I thought that was a really great way to get me to try something I normally wouldn’t. My only complaint is that I would have liked the salsa described a little more accurately than«mild, medium, or hot». I went for the hot, and it was very sweet with habanero flavor. It was delicious and I was quite satisfied with it, but I just would have liked knowing what to expect. Also, I’d also like to know what goes in to «mild» and«medium» as well. I plan on making many visits to Pure Taco this summer and hopefully I will get to try their entire menu. Updates to follow!

Really good tacos. Great Variety. Also, we really enjoyed the people behind the counter. Very fun, very personable. A little expensive(we paid $ 8 for 2 tacos and chips), but you are on the boardwalk, so you’re going to be dropping cash wherever you eat. Fish tacos were delicious.

5 stars for the concept, and the alternative to pizza and fried delights on the boardwalk. 2 stars for execution. The service was excruciatingly slow. Living in a place where taquerias abound, it was painful to watch the staff assemble tacos with painful slowness. The work area was set up for maximum inefficiency. They also didn’t have half the things on the menu. The tacos were okay, but mine were too wet and fell apart quickly. Guys, please send a delegation to San Francisco, or some other locale with a taco culture, to study how the pros do it. This business could be improved SO much.

I had some great tacos here while visiting a friend in Ocean City. The fish tacos are great and if you are into gluten free, that is definitely a bonus. Everything was really fresh and the people working were friendly. Recommended!

We had the fish tacos. We were worried that it would be a little to citrusy-as it was described as being seasoned with lemon and orange. They were DELICIOUS. Made fresh to order right in front of us. Pure is a standout on the Boardwalk. Some of the best taco’s we’ve ever had anywhere. Highest recommendation!

Yaaayy something on the boardwalk other than pizza and french fries and it’s flipping delicious! After my brother moved to CA my mom and I became avid seekers of the ever-magical fish taco on the east coast. The closest things we’ve found are the many locations of Surf Taco and a teeny burrito place that actually used to be open on the OC boardwalk maybe 6 years ago but of of course since closed down. Lo and behold our excitement when on Tuesday on one of our many mother/daughter beach days we discovered Pure Taco. It’s small but efficient and the guys behind the counter were super nice. As we watched them prepare beef/chicken/pork taco after taco in front of us with speed, I almost felt guilty when we ordered the fish tacos and suddenly fresh fish was whipped out and a burner was turned on. Aka yes you heard me, the fish tacos are made to order! So while they did take a little longer, I didn’t mind one bit knowing that the fish was basically being cooked just for us. Overall the tacos were delish. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the sauces(orange chili and sour cream) combined into the most amazing concoction. The side of chips was yummy too! I guess they could have been a little cheaper, considering we paid I think over $ 20 for 2 orders of tacos and 1 drink, but that wouldn’t keep me from going back. I just wish they had seating indoors, because on a hot day like the one when we visited, it was hard to find a place to escape the sun and enjoy the tacos once we walked away . Bottom line, I will return and I will recommend, thanks Pure Taco :-)

This place is fantastic! I can’t tell you how happily surprised I was to stumble upon this gem walking down the boardwalk in Ocean City two weekends ago. Unbelievable to find such a fresh Mexican joint that is gluten free to boot. I had the Orange-Chili Fish which was so so so yummy and my friend had the Authentic Chicken which she loved! AND it is worth noting that we were waited on by an adorable blond guy who was more than helpful when I couldn’t decide what to order :) This is an AWESOME addition to the boardwalk! I live in NYC and I was so excited and impressed to find a place like this down at the beach. I look forward to trying other items from the menu next time I am in the area!

I am a nerd and tend to Unilocal restaurants before visiting them, especially when I’m on the boardwalk and there’s an abundance of greasy foods. I was ecstatic when I saw the high ratings for a fresh taco place. My boyfriend and I went there for dinner one evening and the fish tacos were pretty darn tasty! The following day, I went back to get the black bean nachos because I was excited to try the guac I had read rave reviews for. My nachos were boxed up and given to me without any guacamole and when I came back to ask if I could please have some since it’s one of the 3 ingredients included, the employee told me they were all out. How they were out of one of the main ingredients on their menu by noon on a Friday kind of puzzled me, but I let it slide. I wasn’t impressed by their customer service and they definitely didn’t make me feel like they cared that I just dished out around $ 8 for a small serving of nachos. When I sat on a bench to eat them, I was disappointed by the salsa. I was expecting fresh tomatoes chopped up with a bit of cilantro, but what I tasted was marinara sauce that was nothing even close to resembling traditional salsa. *I’ve updated my review from 2 to 4 stars because I really appreciate the passionate response from the owner. I will visit again next summer since it seems like I might have had the nachos on a bad day. I’m glad my review made a difference and hope no one will go guacamole-less again!

I can’t tell you how great it was to be able to eat gluten free on the boardwalk. Probably one of the best meals i have eaten outside my home since I started eating gluten free. I had the fish tacos and when i went back the next day i couldn’t bring myself to try anything different they were so good. My brother eats GF as well and swore by the chicken bacon ranch tacos. So nice to go to the beach and not have to drag all my food. Eating on the boardwalk for me would have been impossible without getting sick if it were not for Pure Tacos. Thank you, we will be back!!!

A wonderful place on the boardwalk and everything there is gluten free. A great place and a great surprise on the Ocean City Boardwalk. It is nice to see a gluten free place on the boardwalk offering options for people like me. The food was wonderful, I had the Chicken Bacon Taco and really enjoyed the fresh flavors. Would go back next time I’m on the boardwalk

What a joy to discover clever flavor combinations, quality food choices and a little zest of creativity for snacks and lunch midst the stalls and stores littering the Ocean City boardwalk. Pure Tacos shines brightly in red and calls out for a test of one or two tacos. Tacos are made fresh to order allowing for personal combinations and quality assurance. My husband loved the fish taco while I stayed with the black bean combination with the works, all fresh and enjoyable. From BBQ pulled pork taco to breakfast combinations, there is something here for most to try. The cost is not inexpensive but then again is $ 4 for funnel cake and $ 4 for water and soda cheap on any boardwalk in summer? Pure Tacos offers value and tasty food that won’t leave you skipping dinner to maintain your beach body.

My wife and I each ordered a breakfast taco one morning in July 2010. She had sausage, I had bacon. We both really liked ours. Good salsa and seasoning. I think this is a great addition to the boardwalk. A little diversity to the Ocean City menu. I look forward to trying more items in the future.

My brothers & I stopped by this new stall on the boardwalk the other day(it opened earlier this year). It immediately stands out b/c it’s actually got a sense of décor, unlike the other drab-looking boardwalk stalls. The menu isn’t overly complicated: just tacos & nachos. You specify which one you’d like then pick your topping/filling: classics like chicken, steak, chorizo or black bean; more unusual«fusion» selections like cheeseburger or bacon & ranch; even breakfast/scrambled egg options. Pretty simple. We opted for some of the specials: I got the pulled pork tacos with corn slaw & my brothers opted for the fish tacos(orange chili, I seem to recall). My brothers’ fish tacos came with a «6 minute» wait as that’s how much time it took to cook the fillet.(What?!? You’re telling me you don’t have your food sitting out all day like all the other boardwalk vendors???) At $ 7.50& $ 8 each, respectively, it’s not as cheap as say a slice of Mack & Manco’s, but the quality is much appreciated & totally worth it. The verdict? We thought the tacos were good, but not great. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that everything on the menu is gluten-free? Who knows. Either way, it’s a worthy addition to the boardwalk food scene… which is sorely lacking. Now if only other vendors can think outside the box & offer something other than greasy pizza, buckets of french fries & Dippin’ Dots.

Excellent! Very fresh ingredients with a little spice at the end. I loved the fish tacos, which were a special of the day. Ask for the Jalapeño peppers on the side. The breakfast menu looks great too!
