The Draft Restaurant & Sports Bar

Hey Unilocalers, if you are reading this I have an update. The .50 wing Wednesday is now .55 wing Wednesday. I was made aware of this price spike by a family member who still goes to The Draft.

I’ve been here a couple of times and thought the beer selection was great. The pizza was good too. I think the beer prices are fair especially for a larger 22 oz mug. Although I haven’t made it to a happy hour, it looks like a great deal. I have arrived right after happy hour and the place was packed. It’s a good destination for east Oceanside if you don’t feel like driving into downtown Oceanside or downtown Vista for a good mug of beer.

Having never been here before, I got the Living Social deal for 2 burgers + 2 pints… and then I read Unilocal.Yikes, LOTS of bad reviews. Most commented that service was awful, so I must admit I went into this place expecting the worst.
We brought our 3 year old and were pleasantly surprised that this place was pretty family friendly. Tons of TV’s and colorful lights, and a loud but not obnoxious atmosphere. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately seated. So far so good! We were then quickly greeted by a server who took our coupon and our drink order. Hubby was happy with the beer selection and got a Lagunitas ($ 6 pint) as part of our deal. We were then greeted by a second server who would be our server for the rest of the meal. She was very friendly and took our burger order.
The food did take a long time, as other reviewers have mentioned. Not long enough to be upset about it, but definitely longer than most burger places. The people around us were eating wings and pizza and they looked really good. The food came out and looked really appetizing — huge, tall, stacked burgers and fries. I had the Texan and my hubby had the Draft burger which was HUGE! They were both very tasty. The buns were good, the patties were big and full of toppings. My only criticism is that the Texan came with pickles and raw onions (NOT on the menu description) and there was hardly any BBQ sauce on it. But overall, really filling and tasty. The fries were great, too.
It ended up getting really busy toward the end of our meal and our server had a lot of tables, so it took her a long time to settle our bill. But she was apologetic and friendly about it, so we were fine with the wait.
I honestly expected terrible service and mediocre food, but was pleasantly surprised on both fronts! The Living Social deal was an absolute steal for the amount of food and good craft beer we got. We actually plan to come back and try the wings and pizza. Thanks Draft for exceeding our expectations!

I like this place. But its so crowded I
go to Oggis to watch aztec games but I am not all that happy there. Oh well .
Maybe its crowded cuz of wing night.

They have an amazing happy hour. Great prices. I suggest you get the living social coupon for 2 burgers and 2 beers while it lasts

This is my favorite place for good food.
They recently added new menu items. They now have the Best French dip I had in north county!
Service was great. Our waitress was quick and very helpful. We came in on a Wednesday night and it was super busy but we still felt the full presence of our server. Best part about coming in on wend was that They have .50 cent wings all day. And they’re perfect size and a steal for the price. Gotta love the Draft!

I would have given it 5 stars but the wings I ordered were too salty. I do not recall the flavor I ordered but they did not even offer to replace them. I was still charged even though I only ate one.

Used the living social deal. Awesome burgers! Service was good everyone was nice! Didn’t know about the famous Bloody Marys but will be back to try one or two or three next time.

Good place for sports! Great selection of local brews, and really good burgers! Good selection of bar food, I recommend the wings, they were almost buttery tasting. Ordered the Draft Burger (onion rings, 3 cheeses, bacon & a fried egg on ½ pound Patty) and it was very flavorful and too big for your mouth!

Very good dinner tonight. Had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, it was really good, but get blue cheese not ranch. Bree was our waitress, and was by far, the friendliest waitress we have had there. The food was fast and go during happy hour for $ 3.50 pints!!!

Had been coming here for years, even before the name change and remodel. Service has always been amateur at best. Food is less than appetizing, but the beer is always cold. The last few times we went there, we were always short changes on the shrimp count (make sure to count them or else they WILL short you).
Some of the staff is fantastic, but many of them don’t seem to care that there are customers there, even with an empty restaurant. I find it amazing to wait there for 15 minutes without being greeted by anyone (empty restaurant mind you) go to the bar and try to order food and get a bunch of attitude. So I say thanks but no thanks. Walk right by the owner and gather my family to leave, no one says a word.
I don’t blame the staff for poor service, but the management and especially the owner who is a witness to the poor service, should step up and be a leader and take care of his business.

I have to said that today we had such a bad customer service our drinks we order were super flat!!! taste like water but we ask our weiter he wasnt to friendly at ALL!!! we told him about our drinks but it seems that was not a big deal, he went to ask the bar tender and he said that nothing was wrong with our drinks, we plan to leave the place, we wanted to have a drink after a long stressful day at work.
I forgot to mention we work in customer services and we do apologize for any inconvenience also we give customer there money back, it seams that we didn’t heard the apologize from Brandin at all, we ending paying for our flat shok top and left that place. we went to el torito where we found better and quality customer service and drinks on the house for our bad experience at the draft

Let me start out by saying the last time we were here we had exceptionally HORRIBLE service, warm beer and terrible, cold food! That being said we decided to give it another shot and same, way overcooked burger, cold fries and now we will never come back! !! Stay away unless you get only beer.
I say it’s not worth the trouble or horrible experience! !!

I have gotten the same thing every single time I am here, I know boring. I get my pint of beer and the jalapeño burger. I have to say it is a bit greasy but not in a fastfood gross kind of way. In a fat GOD BLESS MURICA way, which is exactly how the vibe is. Its o siders all shoved into one big dining area, buzzed off beer and family and sports. It’s always loud and family friendly. It’s always delicious, its always filling, its always a great experience if you can handle the o side peeps in full effect. I am in my 30s and I swear I look around and just see all the people I went to school with in one room with their families now. California boys and girls never change! LOL I will forever be a local, and return.

Okay so im going start by saying that i love this place I’ve been coming here since it was pizza, wing, and things.
Its a great atmosphere for friends and family.
They have great customer service every time i have gone they were quick, awesome, and had smiles on there faces especially there waitress faith she’s funny chill and makes you feel like family! which is one the reasons im always bringing my friends and family here.
My favorite day to go isn’t Wednesday for the amazing juicy Wings or Thursdays for there dollar ribs or even for there Saturday pizza deal for buy one get one free as long as they Dont have a special fighting event that day!
I like to to go on Sunday’s to watch the football games there because they have every game on and they also have a great deal for a pitcher of beer and 1 topping pizza for 19.99 you cant beat that you can also get that deal any day of the week as well so i suggest you bring your friends and have some fun!
There pizza is nice and cheesy with a great tasting crust and there beer selection is phenomenal.
Last but very not least there Cookie Monster that is to die for i recommend it!
Its a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie with a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with Cherry’s.
It is the greatest desert I’ve ever tasted and there’s none that compare to it.

Let’s make this easy and just start a running list as I sit here.
1. Didn’t get seated because as the waitress said: they were all out of menus
2. Took 10 min. For waters
3. Ordered the salad bar because the rest of the menu was way overpriced
4. Was told there were plates at the salad bar… no plates
5. Ordered my piña colada 15 min ago… still don’t have it.
6. A plate of wings took (prepare yourself for this; 1 hour)
7.Don’t waste your time…
Only giving 2 stars because I «heard» the food isn’t half bad.

Came in for lunch with a Groupon. Sat in the dining room…
Ordered the bacon cheese burger and Belching Beaver milk stout… burger came with fries.
Wow, loved the burger! Handmade, cooked the way I like… medium rare… juicy. Huge! Juice running down my arm! Flavorful with Swiss cheese, 2 slices of bacon, three slices of tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and grilled onions. The French fries tasted fresh and cooked perfectly.
Travis, our waiter, was friendly and very helpful.

Myself and my husband, our two friends, and their kids decided to try The Draft this past Tuesday because our friends had a Living Social deal that was due to expire that day.
Upon entering, we were surprised to find it so packed, but it looked like there was a game on. We hovered awkwardly next to the front door for a few minutes before realizing we were being completely ignored by every single employee. We finally got one girl to pause so we could ask her if it was open seating, to which she replied, «yes» while walking away.
After about 10 minutes of standing around, we finally snagged a table. Our waitress was nice enough. The personal pizza my husband ordered arrived first, and the kid’s meal for the 2 and 4 year old arrived 10 minutes later, followed by the rest of the adult meals another 10 minutes later. At that point, my husband’s pizza had been sitting for 20+ minutes untouched, and was now cold. All of the
food was just average.
Our waitress was decent, but the rest of the employees were useless. The Living Social deal we had was for 2 burgers and 2 beers, however they tried to comp the personal pizza instead (which was cheaper), and charge us for a $ 13.50 burger instead. We brought it to our waitress’ attention, and she did have it fixed.
I think I can speak for our group and say we definitely won’t be back again. No wonder they are offering discounted deals through Living Social — everything about this place is disappointing. Especially the crappy service.

So the Draft is really a reincarnation of Wings, Pizza N Things (WPT), just a few doors down from their old location in the same shopping center.
The wings are good and tasty. The pizza? I think it is one of the better pizza joints in the area. Still the think their meat lovers (or the warthog to the WPT diehards) is one of the best pizzas around. Greasy, and great with a cold beer.
As for the beer, they have a good variety of the standard choices, as well as of the craft variety. 805 is one of my favorites, as well as Karl Strauss Red Trolley. They also have a full bar for those wanting their mixed drinks.
Locally, one of the better places to catch a large variety of sports, and is consistently packed for large sport events. They do charge for PPV boxing or MMA events, but they usually have a TV outside where you can watch the fight as well.
The service? After all these years, they still struggle with it. Sometimes they are on the mark, while other times we might be seated for over 20 minutes before someone comes to acknowledge we are even there. If they ever get the service part taken care of, they’ll be 4 or 5 stars. Otherwise, a good bar with good food to watch the game.

If you want a sports bar, where you can watch a game and not have to argue with someone else to change the channel– this is the spot! With TVs all around the restaurant and several different games going at once, you can not only keep track of what you wanna watch but what you’re friends want to as well! (A win-​win in my books).
This place also has some pretty tasty wings, and about the only spot I know that has boneless! And they’ve also got a great selection of your regular beer and quality craft as well as full bar.
This place can be quite pricey however, I came on Sunday and blew away $ 20 with only some wings a beer and some fries ($ 5 for fries is way too high!). However I’ve heard they do deals during the week like 50 cent wing Wednesday and happy hours.
