The Lakeside came recommended by a friend so my wife and I made the 50 minute trek from Janesville to Oconomowoc, WI(address comes up as Summit in the Garmin). We arrived about 1:30p this afternoon(Saturday following Christmas) and there were only two other tables occupied when we arrived. I ordered a cheeseburger while my wife ordered the cast iron chicken sandwich(minus the chili rub as the waitress said the chili rub is pretty hot). We ordered haystack onion rings for a starter and a soup of the day(navy bean and ham). ************* The Haystack was indeed a large haystack with the onions sliced very thin(as they should be with a haystack). Very tasty. Diet starts tomorrow. The soup was homemade and great remedy for a gloomy, rainy day. Perfect amount of beans, nice chunks of ham and a light broth. If their soup is always this good, I’d order it every day. I ordered the cheeseburger medium rare to medium and it was cooked perfectly with just enough pink. The burger was excellent with a very rich beef flavor. The grilled bun was light and very fresh. The burger came with a large portion of waffle fries(not a huge fan but that’s a preference not a knock on the fires) and four, very fresh, flavorful dill pickles. My wife’s chicken sandwich was grilled perfectly as well(very easy to dry out chicken) and was brimming with flavor. It also came with waffle fries and pickles. I’m not a big fan of chicken sandwiches, but it was excellent. ****************** One of the reasons I started Unilocaling was because it is so easy to be disappointed at restaurants these days. And I just got tired of eating crappy food with little or no recourse. So when I am delighted by a very good meal, i’m thrilled to write a positive review. And I get it that people have different experiences. Unless the way the food is prepared and presented changes from day to day, I don’t see how this place is getting one star reviews. We loved it and highly recommend The Lakeside

Disappointing menu and quality of food. Great building and location and if the right individuals got in here and knew how to run a restaurant they could really turn this into a great place. As everyone else seems to mention the transition from Burke’s has really turned this into a pretty poor restaurant.

This is not a Supper Club!!! We have had our last meal here.(It was also our first) We should have known better than to eat here last night. We were the only table in the dining room at 6:30 on a Sunday night. Duck breast was raw, not rare, raw and had no flavor other than the cherry port sauce it was drowning in. Sauce was tasty. Lobster Mac and cheese was dry an could have used some seasoning. Lastly, why serve a salad fork with meals if you don’t serve a salad with the meal?

The ribs were excellent, the waffle fries light and the cheese curds delicious. Service was pleasant only one food item was served a bit colder than it should’ve been. The fireplace is amazing, great choices for beer, try the Pilsner. We will return and I will go after the wedge salad.

Took our out of town relatives and elderly mother out for a fish fry here. Calling ahead for reservations we informed them of our mothers limited walking, they sat us at the table closest to the door. Awesome. We ordered the perch, cod and shrimp fry, all were met with rave reviews. Hand battered is obvious and appreciated. We also had the lobster mac n cheese, defricking licious. The order was so big we get leftovers, bonus! All in all, we drove 45 mins to a restaurant, even though we live around a ton of them, and felt it was SO worth it!

Excellent!!! Liked as Burkes, love it as Lakeside. Had a great lunch — really good food, beautiful presentation, big portions, good service… Definitely going back…

The not so good reviews make me sad. We have known of the property since 2007−2008ish when it just sat there empty. I think it has had several owners the current ones(to me anyway) are the best. Once it was called Burke’s Lakeside Club. We are those pesky south of the border folks that come up on certain weekends to «get away from the rat race» and enjoy the small time vibe and beauty of Oconomowoc. Places like this set the tone. The bar, oh the bar! Hot damn, I can just imagine myself rocking a Laura Petrie look back in the 1960’s. It can’t explain it, you have to see it. It’s the original bar and I bet it has lots of stories to tell. Retro for sure. The food, oh the food. I like the food but am sad they no longer have the roasted vegetable platter. Oh well, plenty of other good stuff to be had. Husband and I will often just get cocktails(natch) and an order each of the lazy susan and WI cheese and meat board. Trust me, more than enough food for two, or three… Of course they have a Friday night fish fry and it’s legit. Well, as legit as this Southern girl at heart can tell. On Packer game days this place is not for the weak of heart. Fun, rambunctious and loud crowd but really fun and no one has threatened violence against my very loud Bear fan of a husband. ;-) Great, independent little gem. Well, it’s not that little! It’s quite large and the outdoor seating area overlooking silver lake is simply wonderful.

Food is always very good… A real turn for the better! BLT, French Onion soup, and an app. Very close to the best French Onion soup I’ve had, but also very different… Like an onion stew… Think and savory! The BLT was way upscale with yellow heirloom tomatoes, house made pickles, a massive variety of crisp fresh greens with both crisp pancetta AND bacon! Waffle fries are disappointing… At this caliber they should be house made to match the quality of the rat of the menu… It’s the one real big oddity on such a high quality menu… Bagged fries?! It may seem like an nag but the place is soooo good that this the fries are a massive fumble! Loose the bagged commercial fries.

The food is ok but overpriced in my opinion, the portions are small for what you pay and there’s nothing beyond ordinary

Love this place! Food is great and the super club bloody mary is amazing — seriously, order it. They have great specials nightly and for Packer games on Sundays, but holy crap — whoever is in charge of the volume here needs to have their hearing checked! My voice is hoarse from having to scream everything the entire time and now have a headache… The DJ puts on music(most of the time) during commercials but it sounds just terrible at that volume… Maybe I’m just getting too old, but I doubt well be coming back for a game if this continues. Numerous people around us(until we asked to me moved away from the speakers) complained and even asked to turn it down, it has actually gotten worse since… Awesome.

Giving this 3 stars is a stretch. First when we arrived we ask to be seated outside. Told since there were six of us not possible. We get squeezed into a booth. Ask the waitress why we can’t sit outside, looks like there is room? Oh no problem, come with me! Then the buffet, or lack there of i should say. There was a small fruit section. No salad bar. No fish or cheses for us non meat eaters. Hash browns were anemic. Scrambled eggs dry. I had a bagel with cream cheese. Waited five(no kidding!) minutes for bagel to toast. After five minutes i just popped it up and took the tiny bit of butter available and cream cheese. Brunch. Beware.

Really not too good. Not much fish in the fish tacos. French onion soup was old and boring. Menu was blah for lunch. I liked Burke’s Lakeside, The Lakeside not so much. We don’t need to go back.

If I could give less than one star, I would. We were there today Sat. May 16th at about 1:00. There was one other couple in the large dining room. We went outside where there were three other tables with guests. Basically this huge place was empty. There were three of us at our table and we were not served our food for 30 mins. No rolls to munch on — zip. When my husband paid the check, it took the waitress 15 mins to return it. The food was not what you expected from the menu description. There are several other good restaurants in the Oconomowoc area to go to, We are local to the area and we know where they are, Kurts and Reveres in Delafield, Highway Harry’s in Johnson Creek The Lakeside Supper Club and Lounge, sadly, is not one of the good ones.(Burkes used to be). After a terrible experience the last time(see other review) — my husband and I decided to give it one more shot. Let me tell you — I am glad we did! We arrived pretty late for a Friday night(almost 8:00) and were told there would be a 45 minute wait. Again, we expected this as we know it is a busy place! We got two seats at the bar, had a beer, and were buzzed for our table out on the patio within 15 minutes! Clearly off to a much better start. Apparently this was the first night of them using their new menu. Our waitress did a great job explaining it to us, telling us what she had tried, and making recommendations. Service was so much improved from our last visit, we hung around for almost 2 hours! I am so glad we gave this a shot again. Definitely going to be a go-to spot for us, especially with the great patio! I had the Fish Tacos and hubby ordered the Blue Gill(which they were out of at that point), so he replaced with ribs. Without having to say anything, 2 of our drinks were comped(awesome move by our server). Great night and great way to kick off patio season!

Today we journeyed to Burke’s Lakeside for brunch and it was worth the 30 minute drive from Milwaukee. For just $ 12.95, you could access a buffet filled with made to order omelets and pasta, a selection of breads, pastries, fruit and eggs, french toast, pulled ham and more. The food was good, but the real reason for the pilgrimage was to try the Supper Club Bloody Mary. This drink is a masterpiece served on a Lazy Susan with all kinds of fixin’s on the side. Visit for pics, a video and a full review.

First time there and not disappointed. Am very glad we got there early as this place filled up FAST! WOW! Turns out it fills up fast for a very good reason, the food is excellent! For our Friday Fish Fry they had Cod and only Cod. It WAS great Cod!!! Soft, flakey and perfectly battered and fried, some of the best Cod I have had! Their Waffle Fries were also delicious. The meal was accompanied by Cloeslaw also excellent and a delicious Tartare sauce. Our starters were superb. Our waitress Lauren was friendly and attentive, she did an excellent job. A great even indeed!

I had their dining options at Summerfest — they did not disappoint — Lobster and shrimp BLT — and wild mushroom flat bread — both were so delicious– nice upgrade from typical festival food !
