AVOIDDOINGBUSINESSWITHTHISBANK! If you don’t have an account and try to cash a check they REQUIRE that you ink your finger and leave them a thumbprint on the check… like a criminal. NOT they way to inspire new business. I’ll never go there again. Looks like the rest of the reviews on this bank were written by the manager himself.

I’ve used Kirkpatrick Bank’s online alter-ego, Savings Square, since around 2008, and I love the hell out of it. Back in ye olden days, I enjoyed 6.5% interest on my Savings Square savings account. That’s crazy to think about now, since we’re lucky if any bank offers more than .05%, but it’s what drew me in. What made me stay, though, was the ease of setting up the account as my emergency savings, transferring money to and from my local credit union account and good customer service. The account continues to rack up interest even when I don’t touch it, and the bank is great about sending me tax forms in a timely manner. I recently had an extra shot of awesomeness. I found myself in an emergency situation where I needed a large sum of money immediately. I needed much more than was in my local account and started to panic until I remembered my(duh) emergency savings account with Savings Square/Kirkpatrick Bank. Unfortunately, I couldn’t log in to transfer money because I had let my account go dormant, plus the bank had changed its online interface. I called Square Savings and spoke to a really sympathetic, helpful rep(I think her name was Merle). After thoroughly verifying my identity, she walked me through account reactivation. She couldn’t help me with a fast transfer, though, as that needed to be initiated online and I was nowhere near a computer or internet. When I explained the nature of my emergency, she put her supervisor on the phone, who gently calmed me down and explained my optionsin great detail. It turned out that if I could get to a computer and put in a request as a wire instead of a transfer, the money would be at my bank within an hour instead of two days. LIFESAVER! I eventually found my way to a connected computer, logged in with my new credentials, made the request and received a confirmation within minutes. The wire transfer began, and I had my money a little over an hour later. Emergency resolved! Savings Square is just exceptional at customer service. I don’t need their help often, but when I do, they come through better than Superman would.
