Signatures: Okie Poutine and Rosemary Palmers. The Mule was an early instance of the wave of new restaurants OKC was going to get, and boy was it a great introduction. Many times have I driven urgently to make the 11-pm kitchen close cutoff for some craved for Poutine(perfect fries smothered in bacon gravy and melted cheese curds). And I still remember several late nights spent there until closing time, when they take out the N64 and invite the regulars to play some Mario Cart. Though my bar-going habits have considerably diversified(not to mention decreased), the Mule will always hold a special place in my heart as one of the first OKC bars that became a steady spot.

This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the OKC area! Amazing sandwiches, sides, and soups. The bar has a great selection of beers and friendly bartenders! My favorite is the FYDH(for your damn hangover)!

The Mule is always incredible. From appetizers to drinks to meals, everything is delicious. The only downside is sometimes you have to wait a really long time to get in on weekends, but I guess that’s what happens when you want to go to a tasty hipster restaurant.

Came to the mule for lunch, I got the macaroni and pony with french fries. The place is like a barbecue place maybe because the sandwich I got had barbecue in it, the service was good, atmosphere is pretty nice. lots of shopping in the area I did enjoy it it wasn’t bad at all. All in all a say it’s a pretty nice place. Will be back if I’m in the area and in the mood for that type of sandwich again.

Came here on a whim. We were shopping at The Changing Table down the street, and decided to get something to eat since the boyfriend was hungry. He had the famous macaroni pony(I think that’s what it was called?). It had pulled pork and macaroni and cheese in it. Boyfriend seemed to like it, but said it wasn’t anything special. You get to choose a side of your choice, and he got fries with his ‘sandie’ and they were really nicely cooked. I had the herbivore which was their vegan option with mushroom, avocado, grilled jalapeño, and tomato pesto. Honestly, it wasn’t that great but it wasn’t bad either. I ate all my food including some of my fries. We both enjoyed our meal and the service was pretty good and super friendly. This would be a great place to come with friends, but I don’t think we’d come here for date night or anything since, I’m not a huge sandwich person.

What is there not to love about grilled cheese. Every sandwich I’ve had has been great. My personal favorite is the macaroni pony. Also the poutine. They have a good selection of beer and good drinks. You’ll most likely have a wait during peak times and certainly on the weekends. It’s a good spot for taking friends from out of town, because it helps to show off how OKC is changing. You get to show off the growing plaza district while enjoying good food with local beer!

The Mule is a great place for relaxation and chilling out. They have a ton of beer on tap and can make any drink you’d like. Get the Okie Poutine for an app! All of the sandwiches are great. I don’t think I’ve had something I didn’t like. I think it’s also pretty cool that you can«Leave A Drink» for a friend on their wall. It’s always a fun surprise to see your name w/drink on the wall to cash in on. This is a great local place to hang out. I’ve loved it since it first opened a few years ago.

We weren’t sure what to expect when somebody explained this and I asked«So, it’s like Portlandia contained in a store with fancified basic sandwiches?» A waitress walked by in acid-washed high-rise cut-off shorts as I was reading about the PB&J dessert… It all clicked. I scanned over to one of my colleagues still wearing a button-up white pressed shirt and laughed at him. I went with the Fancy Pants. Each one of us ordered something different and everybody really liked it. Then came dessert… The Grand Lake Monte Cristo. This is basically fried PB&J + ice cream. And it’s freaking delicious. The small, quiet«oh, I don’t eat» lady in our group became rather possessive of this one. I saw the look in her eye and wasn’t about to fork-war it out. The dessert was awesome and the entrée was pretty good.

Macaroni Pony. The Mule is one of the many good places to eat in the Plaza District and I need to go more often because the Macaroni Pony is possibly one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I get the feeling it’s one of those things that someone has told you about if you’re looking at The Mule. They do seem to get really busy, so you may go in expecting a bit of a wait if you want to eat inside, or maybe be open to stepping outside when it isn’t freezing out. Seriously though, get the Macaroni Pony. It’s absolutely delicious and their fries are tasty.

The mule used to be where it’s at but its getting a little too trendy these days. It is often overcrowded and lost some of its charm that it had a few years ago. I’m glad saints is near my because there always seems to be a substantial wait and not enough space to hang inside unless you want to hang at the bar. I’ve also noticed the hosts at the front have gotten less and less friendly.

I came here at the recommendation of my co-worker who lives up here. We loved this place. It is small, so be prepared to wait for a table. But if it’s a party of two, I recommend sitting at the bar instead of waiting for a table. The Mule has a menu full of amazing grilled sandwiches. I had to try the macaroni pony, which seemed to get rave reviews on Unilocal.Oh wow! This was amazing! A pulled pork sandwich with BBQ sauce and Mac and cheese. It was heaven in between two slices of Texas toast. We also ordered a chicken pesto sandwich(forgot the name). It was shredded chicken wth pesto and cheese. Also amazing. But I would rank the Macaroni pony a little better. The sandwiches come with a side: soup, salad, fries or a seasonal veggie, which happened to be sweet potato hash tonight. We got fries and the hash. Both were super! The Mule has a fantastic selection of beer, both on tap and in the bottle or can. Come to The Mule, eat the Macaroni Pony, leave OKC happy!!!

The Plaza District is the epicenter of the hipster heartbeat in OKC. The Mule is the corner hangout for craft beer loving, ride your bike to work tree huggers who drink only fair-trade coffee from their local(non-Starbucks) coffeehaus. This local dive pays homage to the deeply rooted Americana staple: the grilled cheese. It’s such a cool idea. Their dining room is bedecked in Oklahoma pride from the craft beer selection to the handmade Oklahoma made art adorning the walls. It’s the kinda place you want to hunker down with a group of your favorite pals and catch the Thunder game. All this to say, this diveyesque local hangout hits the mark for many things, yet their food is hit and miss. Their modern take on all things grilled cheese is commendable. They do a great job of creating a menu with a wide assortment of flavors. They cast their net wide as to create a grilled cheese sandwich and sides where there’s something for everyone, yet in their attempts they’ve omitted any one item that’s truly a standout. Go because it’s a fun place to be and be seen, bring your friends and grab an Oklahoma made brewskie, order what speaks to you knowing that it will taste good. There will be small things that will be a bit off like the bread will be soggy, the salad dressing doesn’t pack quite the punch you were hoping for, and maybe the sandwich tastes a bit disjointed, but you’ll have fun and want to go back for sure.

I’ve been to the Mule several times since I moved here and I’ve never been disappointed. I love the caprese and the pulled pork with macaroni sandwiches. Definitely get the onions as your side. They are delicious. Their Moscow mules are also quite good and a must to be paired with their food. Service is always top notch. I’ve always been well taken care of. Thanks!

If I lived in Oklahoma City, this would likely be my favorite hangout. Great customer service, loved the outdoor seating(in the summer time), the food is unique and fun(and good tasting, as well) … And the area of town seems cool/chill, as well. I tried one of their mule cocktails(w/vodka and lime) and it was nicely refreshing and a little spicy from the ginger ale. For dinner, I tried the macaroni and cheese sandwich(it has pulled pork and pickles on it as well) w/a side of their fried cheese curds. This was a perfect combination and I’m told both are pretty much their signature dishes. Loved this place — love their vibe, the food, the people, the drinks… and, the prices are reasonable. What’s not to like? Try it out!

Do not go to The Mule if you are trying to eat healthy or diet. Every time I go there and think I am just going to get one of delicious seasonal sides and soup, I am quickly lured in by the grilled cheeses. I still get a seasonal side, pretending I stayed strong, but I know it is a lie. Do not get me wrong, the seasonal sides are healthy, flavorful and a great option. However, I know the magical cure of the F.Y.D.H, how the Portacatoosa delights my taste buds each time and how much I enjoy the Herbivore on days I do not feel like eating meat. Of course you must enjoy a Rosy Palmer with your meal, one of my favorite cocktails. Dining at The Mule is great and the patio is even better if you can manage to snag a seat. Not great if you have a limited amount of time, as they are always packed and you will have to wait. On a side note, I love their fluted cups, that say«Don’t Be A Jackass.» Perhaps, not the best to bring into meetings after lunch.

I went to The Mule on a recommendation from an OKC local. I am forever grateful for their suggestion! We had driven from Wichita to see Brand New and Circa Survive at The Diamond Ballroom and we were starving! The atmosphere is great, super hip servers, cool music, fun décor. They had Deep Eddy Grapefruit Vodka so my gal was excited off the bat. We started off with the goat cheese stuffed and juicy baked mushrooms, covered in delicious creamy gravy and topped with grilled jalapeños. It was AMAZING! I had the F.Y.D.H, which was avocado, goat cheese, Pepperoncino, bacon, spicy aioli, & an egg. I saw the ingredients and I knew I had to have it. It was phenomenal. I definitely have never had a better sandwich!

Went here with a great group of FAA folks, and it was AMAZING! The beers were cheap and the service was very friendly and efficient! To start, we ordered the cheese curds appetizer for the table. I’d never had them before, but was STUNNED by how good they were — they were light, crispy, and the cheese had just the right amount of ooze. A WAY better«mozarella stick». They came with two dipping sauces, and I love variety — one was the typical ranch, while the second was a crisper marinara — both delish. I ordered the BCLT — Sourdough, Thick Cut Bacon, Gouda, Gruyère, Lettuce, Tomato, and Mayo. It was melt-in-your-mouth great! The bread was warm, toasty and crisp, yet the insides just all melted together in a wonderful mélange of flavors. The tomato and greens were fresh, and the«unusual» mix of cheeses really made this sandwich something special compared to what you could get elsewhere. They also let you choose a side. I got the caesar, which wasn’t amazing but I did REALLY love the«grilled cheese crutons». Again, something you definitely won’t find anywhere. I’d highly recommend you make this a stop on your Oklahoma City tour — it’s unique, cute and worth way more than it costs!
