Great food, and huge portions. The service was incredibly fast and excellent. We’ll definitely be reading here again!

Tried Master Wok for the first time last night and my fiancé and I both left very happy. The atmosphere feels very upscale, the restaurant was clean and well decorated, and the service was great. The hostess seated us promptly and took our drink orders. The server took probably 10 minutes to get to us, which we were initially annoyed about. However, she was very polite and professional, made good suggestions and was attentive the rest of the evening. The owner at one point came by to say hi and make sure we liked our food. On atmosphere and customer service alone, I’d give this place a 5⁄5 stars. We started with the chicken lettuce wraps to start. It came out with crisp romaine lettuce that made the perfect boat for the chicken mix(not flimsy fall apart lettuce most places will give you). Add a little plum sauce and chili and it was delightful. Easily the best part of our meal. $ 9, good portion size(about 6 lettuce boats). Then my fiancé and I each ordered the dinner combination which comes with 1) hot and sour OR egg drop soup, 2) egg roll, shrimp roll AND crab ragoon, 3) entrée, and 4) dessert for $ 15.95. Huge entrée portion, so I thought this was a great dinner deal. We both ordered the hot and sour soup. A little on the sour side, not much of a hot side. BUT the actual contents are how I like it. Lots of mushrooms, bamboo shoots, meat, etc. The egg roll and crab ragoon were standard. The shrimp roll was pretty good. Simple, but good. The owner told us she caters a lot and people call her the shrimp roll lady, which I found humorous. For the entrées, I ordered the beef and broccoli and my fiancé ordered the wok pan fried noodles(triple delight on top of sautéed crispy egg noodles). Again, these came out in huge portions. Could have been two meals each. We both thought our choices were pretty good. However, they didn’t make the best left overs(I don’t think most Chinese does). For dessert we chose strawberry cheesecake and a mocha/chocolate type cake. Both good, but standard. Overall, great experience, fantastic service. Would definitely come back. 4⁄5 stars because I’m still looking for that amazing, authentic, hole-in-the-wall Chinese place in KC.

Every time I eat here, the food is fantastic. Great presentation and excellent service. I am never disappointed. This time I had the tropical rice and it was served in a pineapple. Amazing!

My favorite sit-down Chinese restaurant. It has an upscale ambience. Food is always great. Service is always excellent. Prices are very affordable, especially at lunch time. Since everything is cooked to order, they can make things to your preference.(Eg. More spicy, more mild, less vegetables)

There are those diners who love being aggressively attentively waited on… I’m not one, but if you are– this seems to be your place(granted I’ve only been here once). New to the area we stopped in(hearing great things) right during dinner on a a Friday, and we were the only people eating in. The waiter stood two booths over staring, our entire time sitting inside, which as stated above, not my scene. My food was good enough; my friends food left them wanting more protein. It was mainly veggies and a few nuggets of chicken. We chalked up the whole experience to an average strip center Chinese place, and haven’t been back since!

Super clean and professional. Miss a classy feel with affordable prices. Great lunch specials and the best crab Ragoon I’ve had.

My husband and I both went here tonight for the first time and we’ll definitely be back. We started with the appitizer sampler platter and it was great. I got the braised chicken and they made it «mild» for me as I don’t do really hot dishes. It was wonderful. I got the fried rice with it. I didn’t feel it was the best, but mixed with my entrée, it was good. The atmosphere was nice and the place was very clean. All of the staff was extremely friendly. We were also amazed with how low the prices were for the amount of food you get. We’ll definitely go back.

For a decent Chinese place in Olathe– Master Wok is it! The lady who runs it is super nice and friendly and the service is always excellent. My favorite thing is the sesame delight or the triple delight. Their portions are huge! You get a lot for your money, whether it’s lunch or dinner. I’m a big crab rangoon fan, but theirs is just so-so. This place is always clean too which is a HUGE plus in my book.

Atmosphere is nice. Service is excellent. The food is terrible. Generic Chinese but tasteless. I wish they focused as much on the recipes as they do on the décor. I won’t be coming back.

This is the best Chinese place around! The portions are large and the food is good. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is nice. My husband and I usually go here for lunch, when you can get soup, an appetizer, and an entrée for under $ 7. You can’t beat the price, and the food is delicious!

This is the best Chinese food in the area and is not expensive. Its clean and nicely decorated. I don’t agree with any of the neg comments by other reviewers. Almost 100% in my book on everything, which is almost impossible to find anywhere.

Great food, nice atmosphere and excellent service! I didn’t give it 5 stars just because I have to be blown away to give a rating like that. Solid 4 and I will definitely return!

My chicken fried rice was greasy and bland, tasted like a frozen dinner. Probably won’t be back, but i’ve eaten here before and it was better. The crab ragoons were good, but I’ve had better for less money. Also i didn’t notice till i paid but the waitress had what appeared to be a big rash on her arm, just think it would be better in that situation to at least wear long sleeves.

I can agree with those who said the décor and service are outstanding. Unfortunately, I also agree with those who thought the food was bland. One extreme reviewer on Google compared it to cardboard, but I wouldn’t go that far… The ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was fine. But when you go out for Chinese food, you want it to have lots of flavor. Hot and sour soup should be spicy hot and at least slightly tart/sour. Not so at this place. The entrees suffered from the same problem. If this is REALLY your favorite Chinese restaurant in the area, I challenge you to try Fortune Palace(near 87th& Quivira). Every item on the menu there is top-shelf, and they still have the décor and service of a 5-Star establishment. One more thing about Magic Wok… The lunch menu prices were great! 6 bucks for soup, appetizer and entrée is outstanding! Now — please do something about the bland food!

Okay, I’ve decided over the last two visits that this place sucks. The most recent, on Saturday evening, sealed the deal. It was to go, and was served up by a not too friendly woman at the front. Oh well, I can get past that. The food, once we dug in back home, was pretty bad. I was craving some Americanized Chinese food, so I knew what I was getting, but still… Moo Shu Pork — tons of filler, very little meat. The meat that was there had zero flavor. It was seriously like eating air. Wok Pan Fried Noodles(with shrimp, chicken, beef) — Also flavorless. There was, on this one, plenty of meat, and I actually would have preferred more noodles. But none of that could make up for the overwhelming sense of «blah» Crab Rangoon — I’m not a fan to begin with, but my fiancé is. We both felt they were almost stale tasting. So, I won’t be returning to Master Wok. No thank you.

We dined for the first time at Master Wok on 2÷7÷12. We visited this restaurant when it was the previous incarnation. Gimmie Sum. I believe the décor has been updated and the atmosphere is quite nice. We were one of only four tables of customers in the place and our service was quick and attentive. I asked for a recommendation from our sever and was quite delighted that she actually made a suggestion(I get so annoyed when servers give you their non-suggestion suggestions). The crab rangoon was fresh — with creamy cream cheese(not pre-fried with clumpy cream cheese like some places to do). The sweet and sour for the crab rangoon was very tasty and sweet. I ordered the Braised Chicken with a spicy brown ginger sauce. It was good, and, just as I like, full of crispy vegetables. My husband ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken — we didn’t like it as well. The chicken was HEAVILY coated in thick, red goo. It was not the same sauce that we dipped our crab rangoon in. We both opted for fried rice with our meals, however, to me, fried rice implies that it comes with peas, onion and carrot. This was just rice that was fried. Disappointing. The food is very Americanized. Would I go back? Probably. My favorite Chinese food is still Fortune Wok at 135th and Quivira, but it is a bit far from my house. Master Wok is the best we’ve found in this neighborhood.

The décor? Wonderful! The staff and hostesses? Awesome! Our waitress? Very friendly, attentive, and fast! The food??? Really good. Hot and fresh. Came out fast. The stowaway hair found in the process of eating my meal… –__– It would be one thing if it was a short hair or something… like maybe half an inch… MAYBE. But for this piece of long, stringy hair to be seven or eight inches long… That totally ruined dinner for me… and the food was super duper good. The spring rolls and crab rangoon were awesome. It was my first time trying the spring rolls and I would order them again. For entrees, we ordered Kung Pao chicken and Cashew chicken. Good flavor. Robust sauce. Hairy ingredients… Would I return again? Yeah. But don’t expect me to get cashew chicken again.

The dining room has a bit of an upscale feel, but the menu is pretty run-of-the-mill midwestern Chinese, nothing really innovative or standout. The food was fresh & delicious, but I felt that portion sizes were on the small side for $ 10 – 12 entrees(no sides). We were there pretty early, had the place to ourselves for dinner, so our server was attentive to the point of hovering. I wanted to tell him to back off a notch, but there wasn’t anyone else keeping him busy; maybe it’s different during the regular dinner hour.
