I’ve come here before for baked goods, but this was my first time trying their sandwiches. I got a chicken cutlets wrap, it was good. The wrap came with a cute little brownie. They have a sandwich club, after 10 visits you get one free. The service was fast and friendly. The store was pretty clean, except for the floor. It looked like it hadn’t been swept or mopped in days. Also the staffs uniforms seem a little too relaxed/unprofessional. They all wear red aprons which looks professional until you see that most of employees are wearing sweat pants. I understand that it’s a bakery/relaxed environment but it gives that«just rolled out of bed have to come to work» appearance.

Ordered a triple layer chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and vanilla custard with whipped cream frosting for a birthday party. Absolutely FANTASTIC! Everyone loved it. Will definitely rely on Julia’s again when I need a special occasion cake.

Had your Napoleon cake for my birthday today with a layer of yellow cake, french cream and fresh whipped cream. Oh. My. God. Amazing! The pastry was perfectly crispy. Perfect cake!

We hadn’t been aware of this bakery before seeing their window display and stopping in yesterday. We were impressed that they had a wide range of products on offer, including not only breakfast and desert sweets, but also breads and custom sandwiches. Unfortunately, there were far too many offerings for everything to possibly have been made the same day, but we did pick up a fruit crumble, which was a featured special. The baking was perfectly fine, although no one would mistake the(canned) fruit filling as being of gourmet quality. Nonetheless the staff were plentiful and friendly so we’ll give them another try next time we’re in the neighborhood.

I would only get their chocolate covered strawberry cheesecake until I learned how to make my own cheesecake. Their cupcakes taste like they were either stale and reused day after day or made from a box. The frosting was awful, it tasted pre made almost worst than store bought cans of it. I would expect a higher quality from such a well known bakery in the area.

I’ve been a customer for 10 years and have never been disappointed with even a minor detail. The vanilla cake which I normally don’t like is moist, light, flavorful and is best accompanied by the fresh(and jelly!) strawberry filling. Mmmmm. The Chocolate Canoli cake is just out of this world. Worth every little last crumbs worth!

Awesome local bakery. When you walk in the door you are overcome with the amazing smell of yeast and baked goods. I haven’t had too many of the«sweets» but their breads and rolls are top shelf. The prices are very fair and the employees have always been very nice. They make egg sandwiches so it’s also a good breakfast spot. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I stil haven’t tried the cookies and cakes.

Have been going to Julia’s since they were at the Christmas Tree Location. Love this bakery! The new location is much more convenient and the space inside is bigger; plus you can enjoy your treats inside in their seating area. Not only are their pastries and cakes delicious they make great sandwiches. If you’re looking for a unique cake try the bungalow(it’s my favorite)! It is half chocolate, half vanilla with strawberries and bananas plus they used whipped icing instead of buttercream… so delicious! Staff is very helpful and friendly.

Place has a lot of different options from cupcakes, pastries, cakes by the slice and much more. When I visited I ordered a cream puff, éclair, danish and Boston crème which were all very good. They have a cute little area where you can order breakfast sandwiches and such. Nice people, good food. I will be back.

YUM. i have not been to julia’s, but one of the guests at my Christmas feast brought a few items, and they were real crowd pleasers: dinner rolls– soft and chewy, yet with just the slightest crisp to the outside. these were gobbled up. lemon meringue pie– i’ve never had a lemon layer so thick; it was almost custard-like, in the most wonderful way. it was quite tart, and not too sweet. the meringue layer was fluffy, light, and perfectly set. the crust was sturdy enough, but super flaky. mini cannolis– we were given a variety of traditional ricotta and chocolate. now, i’m from an italian family where only ricotta filling is acceptable– non of this vanilla or chocolate funny business. however, what a pleasant surprise to discover that their chocolate filling is actually ricotta-based! from what i hear, all the offerings are excellent. i would definitely be happy to have their baked goods in my home again.

No way this is a 4 star bakery. I had the italian bread, meh, not very great. It had a soft outside. That’s not italian bread. Paid $ 26 for 1.5 pounds of Christmas cookies, which were not great and the donuts were ok but overpriced. This place is not worth the money they charge. Total was $ 48 for the cookies, 1 loaf of italian and a dozen donuts. That is ok if they were excellent but they were not.

Good quality, nice variety fast service. This place is great. I had two items an almond joy cupcake and a pumpkin pie cheesecake slice. I love that they sell slices of cake. They have a ton of variety and they also have a sandwhich section where you can get breakfast and lunch sandwhiches. I will be back

Excellent breakfast sandwiches with many bread options, bagels are amazing, although selection is limited to 3 types. It’s hard to find a good local bakery that is so clean, friendly and inviting. And of course it smells amazing!

I have to say… I am very pleased with this bakery. I’m from Boston and moved here a year ago; I love to entertain and was always disappointed with bakeries in the New Haven area. I actually found this place by accident and decided to give it a try! Cake was sooo good! Tasted very very good. The knife sliced thru the cake like butter. My mom www very happy with her birthday cake and so was I! Finally a great bakery! This was a review from a real critic!

Stopped in for a quick bite. Ordered an everything bagel and an egg, bacon, and Swiss sandwich on an English muffin. Both were delicious! The bakery has a little café where you can sit and enjoy your sandwich as you look at all the cakes and cookies. Affordable prices for a delicious breakfast!

Their items are all very yummy. They have a big selection to choose from and often add new things to try. They make beautiful cakes and even have sandwiches. Eat in area available too. A bit pricey, but good. They always have plenty of young ladies helping on the floor so you never have to wait long.

A wonderful, old school bakery and sadly, too far from home for it to be something my family can get to regularly. I guess we’ll just have to visit the LL Bean Outlet store more often(same mall). Next time, we’ll wait and get breakfast at Julia’s and then we’ll load up on wonderful, fresh baked goods to bring home. Julia’s is delicious and reasonable with a huge, huge assortment of items. It seems that I have been reviewing a lot of bakeries lately, but that’s mainly because the ones near us just stink and/or are pretentious and overpriced as heck. We miss having something reliable and really good like Julia’s nearby as a «go to» for our weekly supply of cookies, bread and for special occasion cakes.

OK… LOVEDIT!!! Being that I am A born raised New Yorker from Long Island that’s ½ Italian. WELOVE our pastries /desserts. Since moving 2 the shoreline of CT Summer of 2012 the Clinton /Madison area it’s been VERYHARD2 find a lot of those comfort foods«WE» are accustomed to & take 4 granted… Excellent Deli’s, Italian & Pizza, Bagel’s, Greek food, & Bakeries! We were in Milford @ Dr.‘s apt. on 5÷27÷15. After we headed to Costco then to Trader Joes to pick up a few items. I don’t usually take the trip out to those stores but since Dr. was 4 me went. As soon as we pulled in I thought it was funny with the next to Weight Watchers. I saw that it was a humongous bakery. Around here we go normally 2 Meriano’s but its not a lg. store & sometimes will call and have them hold specific items. Same thing w/Sugar. Inside they had samples of breads & cookies out. Some tables & chairs where people could sit & eat. In 1 section make sandwiches egg /meat sandwiches. Plus sell all kinds of breads & rolls. Each day of the week has a «Special Bread» for instance that day was marble rye & its @ a special price. Cut 2UR specifications was about noonish & had plenty & still baking. Lg. variety I love cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, cheesecake squares, croissants some more chocolate or raspberry cheese others were spinach or feta, stuffed breads, they had slices of cake, pastries & mini pastries. I know there was more but I was so overwhelmed. I was disappointed that they didn’t have or they ran out of rainbow cookies & black & white. I didn’t even ask. I got 4 things 2 bring home it was a warm hot day so I didn’t want to get any cheesecake squares even though I really wanted 2. THEBESTTHING was the Linzer Tart… It wasn’t huge like they normally are but the top cookie is very thin and the center has so much jam. It is not overwhelmingly sweet & cookie moist! I was originally going to get a few more but I figured I was unsure how it would B & $ on items varied $ 1.25 — $ 4. Obviously I’m talking about buying single items: cupcake, brownie, croissant etc Not cakes/pies/cookies per Lb. etc Got a Cannoli Cupcake the cake was very light & cannoli filling delicious & it had whipped cream topping so it wasn’t heavy & sweet like butter cream. 100x’s better than Sugar’s Cannoli. Brownies boy do I love them &SO many! Got a fudge nut w/walnuts in brownie w/chocolate frosting not w/choc. frosting — milk chocolate light in color w/shaved walnuts on top. Not 2 sweet/heavy. Hardest part last item I told the girl not 2 let me need 2 boxes or bigger 1. SO wanted cheesecake square @least 8 flavors but like I said Hot & we just had lunch @ Athenian III& ½ going home. So 1 more brownie I was debating between cookie dough, Oreo, double fudge, B&W prob. had more. The fudge nut was square all others rectangular shape. I asked the girl what her favorite was she said B&W got that. Total was $ 10.60, take Credit Cards w/out a minimum amount 2 spend. I did ask many ?? about items she & others around extremely helpful /knowledgeable. I didn’t ask really what the topping was. @ home put in fridge. Basically only giving 4 due 2 my last pic. The chocolate was fudge a bit sweet but the white? Took small bite of it, what was it? Mix of 2 items? Buttercream & marshmallow? Very sweet! Not a marshmallow person. BC depends what it’s on /in & the flavoring. Ended up scraping it off was plenty of fudge to spread to that half. Only reason why I’m giving it a 3. Partly my fault 4 not asking. You don’t mind paying for good food so yes some items were high but if U go 2 Supermarket what they make is cheaper but never taste like a real bakery the real thing. So treat yourself try something new. I’ll be out there this week definitely getting ½ doz. Linzer tarts. if not too hot cheesecake squares & Italian pastries. BTW: bread samples delicious & have table w/pre-paked items various crumb cakes. If you love dessert & pastries & Carbs breads! U must try if UR in area or passing by right off I95 exit 39A N very close

Stopped in to give this place a try and picked up a few things. This place has numerous options and something for everyone. When something is good it is very good, but when something is bad… For example, their eclairs are dry and too modern, the filling isn’t right. The cookies taste like their is one massive ‘starter’ dough and they just switch up additives as they go along. The other things we tried were pretty good though.
