What happened to Sassoon? Any updates on a new location? I used to live on Chapman and regularly ate the Chicken Shawerma(LOVED it) because they had the most amazing garlic saue and they would special-make my sandwich adding the chili sauce, too! As I thought about what to have for lunch last week, I was all set on my Sassoon… waited and starved till I got there… alas they were no longer… If anyone hears of an update — PLEASEPOST!!!

Sassoon Chicken closing is one of the saddest things ever. I have been going to sassoon for over 7 years… and it was always the most consistent, tastiest food ever! I really hope the owners read this, and post where they will be opening again! I’ve never posted on Unilocal but signed up in hopes that Sasson will re-open again. My husband and I always talked about how we should help Sasson market themselves better because its such a small place in Orange that doesnt get that much traffic. The place itself looks worse than a high school cafateria but the food is A-MAZING!!! SASSOON! Please come back!!! Or let us know where you will re-open :)

My booboo and his mama raved over the chicken here. I don’t get it. Yeah, the car smelled uh-mazing as we were driving home with the takeout, but after tasting the chicken, I was less than impressed. I didn’t taste any spices or good flavor in the actual meat, but maybe I just didn’t get a good bite??? Anyway, I myself ordered the falafel plate because I really have an obsession for them(and saying the word falafel) and luckily, to me, it fared much better than the chicken kabobs. The tahini sauce was nice and creamy, complemented the falafel well. The outside was very crunchy and the inside was light and fluffy, not mushy at all. But I didn’t really like their hummus, it was… just kind of weird and too fatty for me somehow. I don’t like the oil on top and I don’t know if that’s tradition, but I much prefer the hummus I buy at Ralphs…(Middle Eastern gods glaring down at me right now). Rice was eh, ok. Kind of flavorful here and there, but nothing spectacular. The garlic sauce was weird too. It seemed like horseradish to me. I don’t know, I feel like I need to try this place again, but after today… I don’t really want to give it another shot. And the pita bread they gave us, was still in the plastic bag –_– Like the kind you’d buy from Ralphs. –___– Really?! I thought a Middle Eastern place would at least try to make its own pita, but nooo, they buy it, and they don’t even try to make it seem homemade! Oh, and the wait is terrible. We waited at least 10 – 15 minutes, and according to Mama Bredahl, it’s always been this way. i don’t wanna be mean but… 2.5 stars. I mean, 9 bucks for a plate of 6 falafels with veggies and hummus… and storebought pita bread! Sassoon’s is in the same lot as Original Pancake House. I’ll go there next time instead.

Superdry brand clothing = cute brand name clothing Super dry chicken = waste of my $ This place reminded me of Zankou Chicken. Rotiserrie chicken Garlic Sauce Pita Bread Pickled Radish but wait a minute… this is no Zankou. Dry like Sahara desert. Dry like winter skin. Dry like overprocessed hair. You got the idea. Got my half chicken and I couldn’t even convert it into a quarter chicken. I left hungry. I wanted to give it one star but it was super cheap. The worker was nice too. She turned around so I could take a picture of her shirt. 2 stars! Sassoon Chicken is not yummylicious!

Decent prices! 2.5 Stars I had the half chicken for about $ 4.50. It was super dry. I couldn’t eat about half of it. One of the wings was super hard. I bet if the chicken was fresh and juicy it could be four or five stars. Clean restaurant and nice people working here.

Sassoon Chicken and Zankou chicken are two different places. They are similar but different so don’t compare the two. I have been a frequent flyer here for lunch and I have always been welcomed with a warm greeting. They have good lunch specials, $ 5.99 for a sandwich, drink and chips. The chicken wrap is always pleasantly delcious, served with tomatoes and a special garlic mayo sauce. I am always full and never stuffed.

Okay, maybe my problem is that we don’t eat meat anymore, but we weren’t as bowled over by Sassoon Chicken as many of the Unilocalers seem to have been. I went with the falafel plate and my fiancé went with the falafel wrap. We also got a side order of hummus and garlic sauce, since the garlic sauce only comes with meat. Anyway, the falafel plate, which included six falafels, a generous helping of hummus and tahini and some Meditteranean pickles would be something I would order again. That being said, I think the hummus was definitely average at best and nothing to write home about. In fact, the order of hummus my fiancé got is still sitting in our fridge untouched since we brought it home. The falafels were definitely one of the best falafels I’ve had in Orange County and they were definitely flavorful without being over-seasoned or salty, which is the case with many falafels I’ve had. The garlic sauce, which everyone is raving about, is very tasty and fluffy. That being said, I’ve bought the same thing at Whole Foods and overall, it’s probably a better value there($ 0.50 for a tiny dollop here or $ 3-$ 4 for a small tub there). If you want to try the one at WF, it is located by the hummus and other dips by the cold food bars. The service is a little lackluster, although I didn’t expect much from this type of establishment anyway. I just wanted a cup of water and they never gave it to me until my fiancé went up to get one from the counter. Then we ordered extra garlic sauce with our meals and they forgot to put that on the tray as well.

What’s on the menu today for lunch… NOTSURE!!! Well, that was the question until we got off the freeway and realized Sasoon Chicken was coming up to our right. Our quick decision led us to Sasoon Chicken. This is not the 1st time I’ve been here but today I’m Unilocaling… Plates we ordered according to their numbering system: 01. #2 Luleh Kabob($ 10.95) — 3 Stars 2 Skewers of Ground Beef over Rice, served with Hummos(their speeling now mine) & Potato Salad — The Luleh was a bit dry today. I’m used to it being very moist at other places but it was just OK. The Hummos was good and creamy. The Potato Salad was refreshing as it was tossed in a Lemon/Parsley dressing 02. #10 Half Chicken($ 7.75) — 4 Stars ½ Rotisserie Chicken served with Hummos, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickles & Garlic Sauce — Call me crazy but the chicken’s skin is ALWAYS consistent… Light and Crispy(I know you’re asking, how can it be LIGHT… it’s always the same EACHTIME!). I liked that you get a good amount of Breast and Dark meat to share if offered. The Garlic Sauce is creamy and airy here. Some places the sauce is super thick(heavy) but theirs had the perfect balance. I didn’t really care for the salad it came with becuz there isn’t any dressing and the lettuce is just ICEBERG… the one lettuce that doesn’t offer any health benefits. My top right corner of my combo box usually sits all alone. SADSAD… NO Dressing = NOACTION. NOTE: 01. Wait Time — Once you order, the food does take about 10 minutes, whether there is a crowd or not. I try to think, they are making something fresh in the kitchen. 02. All plates include 2 pitas. Each additional will cost you $ 0.25. 03. Parking — Don’t worry about this, there’s plenty of parking spaces. 04. Location — Across from In-N-Out and next to Carl’s Jr., behind a tiny Hot Dog Stand, just in case you don’t see the ORANGE/BLACK sign.

Not a great atmosphere, not the greatest service. But I’m giving it four stars. Here’s why: the rotisserie chicken + garlic sauce is hands down one of the most delicious things you’ll find in Orange County. Actually, put the garlic sauce on cat food and you may start salivating. It is sooooo good. However, make sure to give yourself some personal space after you eat there. The garlic certainly gives your breath a pleasant little«kick» that everyone is sure to appreciate. Cheers!

I had the shish tavouk plate for lunch. Basically they’re chicken shish kabobs but spicy. I waited about 10 minutes for my food-made to order. Nice! The plate comes with rice, but I asked for no rice, and got the chicken on a bed of lettuce. I got potato salad and hummus for my sides. The plate also came with two warm and soft pita bread. The chicken was good! Very nicely flavored and huge pieces. The hummus was… good, but very subtle… guess that’s why they give you a side of the garlic paste, so you could add as much flavor as you want. Btw, the garlic paste is YUMMY! The potato salad was light and tart. Not your usual creamy, mayo salad. I liked it. Made me feel healthy. Also, the owners are really nice! The place isn’t cheap, though. I think my total was a little over $ 10.

I love Mediterranean food! It is such a great meal everytime. I read about this place on Unilocal and after leaving downtown Disney this was the clear choice to eat at. I ordered the Shish Tavouk. It was a chicken kebab with a orange glaze. The chicken was also really juicy which made it taste that much more. The food does take awhile to make but well worth it. The thin rice which is always a favorite for me tasted great here. It also came with hummus and pita, which was the best hummus I’ve ever had. The lemon potatoes were good but kinda threw off the rest of the food. Overall I had a great experience and the service was excellent. Recommendation: Shish Tavouk platter.

I love this place! My fiancé and I always order a whole roasted chicken which comes with pita bread, garlic sauce, and purple pickled radishes with peppers. We also add on more garlic sauce(it’s amazing!), four falafels(also amazing), and two more pitas… this place was a life saver when we were moving and didnt have the time, nor the space, nor the desire to cook… and its sooooo good, pretty much addicting! The customer service is outta this world! I once called my order in literally TWOMIN before they closed and they stayed open until I got there to pick it up! The guy there always offers me water when i’m waiting and is super nice and cool! The only thing I gotta say is that you should really call in your order because it does take a little bit of a wait before you get your foodstuffs… but hey good things come to those who wait, right? :D

Oh dear God. Ate here last night. I was planning to go to the gym today but am afraid of all the garlic* that will inevitably come through my pores. I got chicken shawarma sandwich. The sandwich came with just the chicken and tomatoes. The sauce inside was intense. Garlicky and lemony, it managed to taste both fresh and delicious in that it’s-really-bad-for-you way. Also got a small hummus. For 3.50, you get a good sized container’s worth, plus a pack of pita breads. That is better prices that Stater Bros. The pitas were deliciously soft and warm. I wanted to take a garlicky nap in one. Plus everything was SOO cheap! My sandwich was 3 bucks! You could spend more than that on some 4th dimension of yuck Taco Bell item. A wonderful experience. I am going to crave this place. *FYI, do not eat here before going on some long-anticipated date, unless that person LOOVES garlic or has no sense of smell.

I’ve only been once so far but I have been to Zankou countless times. I thought Sassoon’s chicken was much more moist and tasty compared to Zankou but their hummus and garlic sauce paled in comparison to Zankou. I am a hummus fanatic and I seriously couldn’t even eat it. Terrible hummus. The garlic sauce was good but a lot more sharp tasting than Zankou’s garlic sauce. Over all I would say Zankou is still king even with Sassoon’s chicken being better! Very nice staff(I remember the guy behind the counter was pretty cute actually. hehe)

Is this place really better than Zankou? I’ve been here twice in the past week and this is what I can report. The garlic sauce is home made not in some factory. The chicken is essentially the same, moist, hot, fresh, tender with great crispy skin. The falafel is made to order not sitting under some heat lamp. The hummus is silky but not thin, right amount of oil and sesame. There I said it. This place is better.

First off, the people here are VERY friendly and helpful. I got the chicken shish kabob combo with hummus, rice, and potato salad and a baklava to satisfy my burning baklava desires. The chicken, hummus, and rice were stellar and the baklava was heavenly(pleasantly cinnamony), but the potato salad needed a little work… needed more flavor… odd choice for a side too. Also, the pita bread was store bought and dull… hmmm. I would give this place five stars if: they changed a few things like allowing you to choose your sides, if the shish kabob had veggies, and if they improved their pita purveyor. Until then… a solid 4… however, I’m definitely coming back.

Consistently YUM food. Tummy busting quantities + fair pricing. Friendly staff. I first visited yearsss ago when my diet consisted of nachos and. nachos. Why would anyone come here when Taco Mesa was across the street? Recently I stopped by for a snack because PCH Hotdogs next door didn’t hit the spot. Now I often find myself drooling for some Sassoon. The beef and chicken shwarma with garlic paste are excellent. Combo plates come with potato, hummus, rice, pita, and your choice of kebab meat. If you’re a first timer I would recommend the super-juicy chicken. I would not get the beef kebab again though it was decent. There’s some paste(tomato?) on it and it just isn’t as tasty. Hummus and pita go well with the meat. I would still be going here once a week if I lived nearby. I miss you Sassoon Chicken! Here’s the beef kabob sandwich combo: and the Shish Tavouk plate: and my nighttime shot of Sasoon Chicken :)

Haven’t been here in a while and since my friend works in Orange, we decided to have lunch here. I got the luleh sandwich, my friend, the shish kabob sandwich. We also got 4 falafels and a side of hummus to share. I asked if I could get some garlic spread and the owner kept trying to explain to me that what I ordered was such and such and thus, no garlic spread. I then reiterated I wanted some, ONTHESIDE! He goes«50 cents!!!». I said give me 2. I never remembered having to pay for garlic spread before. Not that it matters, but still. The sandwiches were on the small side — smaller than I recalled from the last time we visited — and my luleh didn’t taste as great as i remembered from before. The falafels were still great and the hummus was good too. Wish one could get service with a smile here, but when the food was great I didn’t mind. Now that it’s not as great as I remembered I don’t know. I wanted something more. Now, this place is just another place where if I was in the area I’d frequent. Wouldn’t go out of my way after this last visit.
