Great food. You can clearly tell there is a lot or love put into the slow cooked Chili Colorado.

Unfortunately not for the food but the slow service and wait time. It’s not the same as the other Greenback location that closed for some weird reason. Something has to get figured out here cause I really love this place but the last few times have been bad. :(

Don’t let the shopping mall appearance stop you from eating at this place. The food is superb and I recommend the Patrick Burrito.

The place looks like a dive, BUT the food is amazing. It’s delicious, authentic Mexican food. The service is great. I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes for a table. Do not waste money trying other places that charge way more for the same entrees. I don’t think I’ve had anything there that I didn’t like. The food was so good, I had La Placita cater my kids’ birthday party.

Since I was 7 I’ve only gotten one plate that sings to my heart endlessly: spicy chicken tacos. When I first asked if they could make it as hot as possible, a smile lit up on the waiter’s face and he assured I wouldn’t be disappointed. 16 years and running they still make the best spicy tacos on this planet. The moist chicken is braised in homemade sauce that speaks truly to a fire breathers soul while the queso fresco alleviates the lava without tarnishing the flavor. A homemade shell of crunchy delight, a fresh slice of tomato, all together makes for a bite just like in that movie Ratatouille where you are reminded of what it’s like to first feel, be moved, sensational. I can’t wait till Monday to see the remodel and have those tacos once more! Best ever!!!

Be careful!!! My family was in the neighborhood. Food is okay, not a whole lot of flavor. My issue is when I paid the bill, I left a tip, and the waitress added a one in front of my $ 6.00 tip. I didn’t notice this until I checked my bank statement. That is fraud! Scammer! I informed the manager who reimbursed me, but wow!!! Really! Be careful, and pay cash. Better yet, just go to a restaurant that serves real Mexican food, and who won’t steal your money.

The fajitas are still fantastic. I got mixed steak & chicken. Spicy level hot. Not super spicy but quite tasty. The enchiladas were white bean, boo. No flavor and drowned in a weird flavorless green mystery sauce. No bueno. The carnitas taco was hard shelled and gringo style. Not a lot of flavor to the carnitas and I wish it was an authentic style taco(street taco) The chips were hot and tasty and the side of guac we ordered was very good. While we really enjoyed the fajitas, I unfortunately don’t know that I’d have anything else here.

Food was amazing. But the service from the bigger lady was very rude and disrespectful. 0⁄10 for her and 10⁄10 for the food.

Love them! Salsa and fajitas are my favorite things. Staff is always very friendly and accommodating for my picky crew and I. I frequently get to go orders as well… never heard a time over 25 minutes(average is about 15).

I’m born and raised on their food. I compare all Mexican food to them. Prices are reasonable, salsa is delicious and food has never a dissapoint. Love that my daughter gets to eat a baby plate for free up until 3 years old. Best hole in the wall restaurant hands down.

I’ve been to this place a few times. The food is decent, the service is pretty friendly, the location is easy to access, plenty of parking and you win more times than you lose. I do have to say that their food is better if you eat inside the restaurant, by far. I’ve gotten their food as take out a few times and they’ve been a bit off on their quality each time. In reality most times you come in, this would be about a 4 star restaurant for me. But because it’s not very consistent, I can’t give this place more than 3, because if you average the hits and the misses, it’s just average. Nonetheless, under a pinch, it’s decent and can’t go wrong with it.

I came out to Unilocal today to leave my first review for a tire repair, but figured since I’m out here I’d drop a note on some of our other favorite places around town. I’ve been to this first location and the DOS location over by Sunrise Mall. If we are going to drive down to Sunrise Mall area we’d rather go to Valencia’s Carniceria & Meat Market which is in the same shopping center as La Placita DOS, it is a lot more affordable, and has a dining area(but that is a different review). But as far as the Orangevale location it has always been a good experience. + When you walk in, seat yourself or wait as it is always busy + I’ve ordered every plate special and burrito and even the chorizo breakfast and it’s all been tasty and descent portions — The décor = I could leave it… not much of a décor and the ukuleles on the wall kind of throw me off + The service has always been great + Chips and salsa are very good and fresh + My wife orders the Carnita’s plate or the Patrick Burrito every time… she switches between the two. + We have two of our kids share the Patrick Burrito and it’s enough food for pre-teen boys to share + It really has the hole in the wall feel and the parking lot is a disaster with potholes and whatnot, but it’s worth it Worth a try if you haven’t tried them yet. We use to be fans of Sol Azteca in Folsom BEFORE they expanded and service when to pot and eventually they closed. It was great to find a replacement go-to for sit-down Mexican food.

I drive past this place every day … twice every day. I’ve probably seen it but never registered it in my mind. It’s across the street from the Santa Maria BBQ place I like. Dinner last night with my wife and In-Laws. First impression walking in isn’t great but since when is that ‘really’ an indication of the food. It’s a seat-yourself place, not fancy, and has been there a long time. When we arrived(7:30pm) it was actually pretty busy. When we left, it was even busier. This place must be a locals secret(so much so that this local didn’t even know). Service was great! Super friendly and fun(and our waitress had no problem correcting my incorrect pronunciation, with a smile). Everything on the menu is available all the time. My wife had 2 tacos a-la-carte(which is a French term, I’ll never understand that). I call them street style, like the ones you get street side in Ensenada. Very simple open faced with meat(carnitas on one and carne asada on the other) with onion, cilantro, and a lime to squeeze. Smelled awesome, looked yum, and she loved them. I don’t remember what my In-Laws had, sorry. But me, I had BREAKFAST ! Mochaca — egg, beef, green bell, and tomato scramble. Refried beans and rice on the side with flour tortillas. In most of their menu items, you can order Hot, Medium, or Mild. I opted for mild because I planned on drizzling their salsa in a squeeze bottle onto my eggs. There’s a red bottle on the table. Not sure what it is. maybe it’s ketchup, maybe not. Looks like ketchup. I don’t think it’s ketchup. Pretty sure its a very mild sauce. It didn’t make it onto my food. I chose the other, spicier, bottle. I will definitely come here again. The prices are very reasonable and the food doesn’t taste like it came off the Sysco truck. Pretty confident they make most, if not all, in-house(sans tortillas). The four of us were done for $ 50(total) including tip.
