I’ve been a very good girl on this road trip. Other than gas and food and accommodations, I’ve spent very little money. I wanted to treat myself to a nice little souvenir, and why not something that reminded me of the redwoods? I ended up picking out a small, handcrafted wind toy that swirls with the breeze. Did I need it? No. Did I want it? Yes. And to boot, it was handcrafted by a local and cost under $ 10.

In the little town of Orick, on the right side of the road if you’re heading south on the 101, you’ll find California Native Woods. This place is a gem among the many woodworking shops you’ll find along the 101. There are beautifully crafted clocks — both table and wall clocks — vases, boxes, chairs, tables, sculptures, and so much more! All of it was masterfully crafted. The people here were warm and friendly. The types of woods used were varied and beautiful. It truly is worth stopping and looking through their shop.
