If it wasn’t for the Season 6 première party for Doctor Who, I would have never found this place on my own. Just off the main tourist road of International Drive, KC’s Pub and Restaurant could easily become a local stopping off point for those looking for a good pub in the Orlando area. Walking into this quaint pub you get an immediate sense of welcome and comfort. The high top tables and chairs sit in front of the bar, while the booths and restaurant style tables are off to the right. This division lets a family of four grab some late dinner without the ‘bar’ type atmosphere immediately around them. The day we went the entire place was packed with Doctor Who fans.(Some of them awesomely dressed I might add.) Taking my brother with me on this trip, we walked through the restaurant to see what everyone else was eating. I always find that’s a great indication of what’s good to eat at a new place. The first plate I saw was the Haddock Fish and Chips which took up literally the entire plate! Very huge! After settling in at the only seat we could find(which just happened to be at the bar) I enjoyed two glasses of Sam Adams, while my brother bought a half pound monster burger with fries. I kept hearing from the bartenders that since the opening of KC’s Pub a few months ago, this night was the busiest that they have ever seen. A clear sign that you should never underestimate the power of Geeks, or the internet… Luckily for us, they planned accordingly and the waitstaff did a great job bouncing around from table to table checking on food, and refilling glasses. The only downside to this entire experience(besides the end of the Doctor Who episode) was one of the two bartenders kept being irritatingly loud, breaking glass after glass, and I swear I saw him drinking on the job SEVERAL times… Not good… As we walked out of the pub and stopped to take pictures with a large cardboard Tartis, I couldn’t help but think that overall this is the type of pub that I would own(which is always a good sign). The only issue with KC’s Pub and Restaurant, besides the one bartender, is the location. I think with a little advertising(and some help from Unilocal), this place could easily become a hot spot off the beaten tourist trail that is International Drive.

Like Karl, I never would have known this place existed had it not been for the Dr Who showing. I tend to avoid the I-Drive area but I’m glad I now know this place is here. The staff was very attentive and on the ball, the drinks were average price for the area and the food was actually quite good. We had fish n chips and shepherd’s pie and they both did not disappoint. The fish was tender flaky haddock, a giant fillet and the chips were big thick cut«steak» type fries. The pie was a savory ground beef and peas in a deep flavorful gravy topped with taters. A little pricey but hey, you pay for the area really. Here’s the kicker for me. I’m no fan of Guinness, at all, as far as stouts go it’s definitely on the bottom of the list for me, but they poured it on nitro and they poured it RIGHT. It was creamy but not heavy and held a good stiff head. I actually enjoyed it enough to have two. Overall I’m glad I got to give this place a shot. I had a really good time, enjoyed all the geekery, the company, drinks and food.
