Super 8 Ottawa Starved Rock St Pk Area

I’ve stayed at a few Super 8 hotels that were less than super, but that’s not the case with this one.
Pros:
–clean, updated rooms
–updated bathrooms
–fridge and microwave in every room
–reasonably good breakfast
–good wireless in the rooms
–GREAT staff… Cheryl at the front desk is a super nice lady that will go above and beyond to make sure your stay is a good one
Cons:
–no workout facility (I stayed for almost 2 weeks in November, but if you’re only here for a night or two then I doubt this matters to you)
All in all a great stay, highly recommend if you’re staying in Ottawa

My wife and I decided to head to Starved Rock State Park for the weekend to celebrate out anniversary. I tried getting a room at the lodge at the state park but they were sold out. I saw that the Super 8 in Ottawa was highly rated and it was just minutes from the park. We have stayed at other Super 8 hotels and have had mixed results so we decided to give this one a shot… we were not disappointed! Check-​in was a breeze and the front desk help was very helpful! I was pleased to see that the hotel was 100% smoke free as some Super 8 hotels can be clean and comfortable but the smell of smoke from the smoking rooms can permeate the non-​smoking rooms and the common areas… not here though! The room we stayed in was in the newer part of the property and was very clean and inviting. The room had a small fridge, microwave and a flat panel HD television. It was very quiet at night. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows and the room also had a pull out couch. Breakfast was decent… I knew I was not getting a gourmet meal, but it was enough to satisfy! If I had any complaints it would be that there was no pool (I knew that going in) and the light from the parking lot was mildly annoying even with the shades drawn (but did not keep me awake). I would highly recommend staying here if you want a cheaper alternative to staying at the park or if the lodge is sold out!

I have been staying here for over 20 yrs it is my official home away from home. Always clean & polite staff if something is not right they WILL fix it. Clean Quiet & just the right place: o)
