Hands down the best sushi in Owensboro! We go at least once a week. The experience at the sushi bar is out of this world. These guys know what they are doing.

Shogun of Japan is a safe bet when looking for good Japanese food. The presentation is always fun and the food consistently tasty. I enjoy the large selection of sushi available.

Ok, so I may be a little partial to shogun since its the first Japanese steakhouse that I’ve ate at, I notice there’s no reviews about the STEAK, at a STEAKHOUSE! Let me tell you, I’ve been here multiple times and the food and service is always wonderful! The filet mignon and chicken meal is our favorite! Very tender, juicy and all around scrumptious! The scallops are great and the regular steak and chicken meal is good too, the soup is wonderful, the salad is average with a really good dressing. The rice is WONDERFUL! And the yum yum sauce is good on everything on your plate! Great place to take someone on their birthday, if you let them know they will really put on a show for you! Also great for children, they tend to do special things for them,(I.e. Mickey mouse out of rice.) If your near owensboro and looking for a good meal, be sure and check it out!

I was hoping for a fun night with good food and what we got was a pretty standard meal with friendly but disorganized service. We have a party of 5 with 1 of us being a small child and we were seated at one of the grills with another couple. The waitress was friendly enough and we all ordered items from the hibachi as well as a small order of sushi to serve as a appetizer and a childs meal. A few minutes later our salads were served and the hibachi master came out and started doing his thing — but for some reason he blazed through it with hardly any show at all. You could hear the other tables cheering as their grill master did his show. Our guy cooked and dished up. Remember, our salads arrived right before he came out, so not only did we not get the traditional show, we were going back and forth between eating the salads and holding up our plates at his request so he could serve us the rice, noodles, veggies, etc.(He said he had sort arms so we needed to hold up the plates for him while we were trying to eat our salads). On top of this, no sushi order. The waitress come by and apologized 5 times during our meal for the delay on the sushi. Each time she said there were busy — it was only 1 roll and two pieces of Hamachi. That is it! We finished our meals and she came out and asked us if we wanted to-go boxes — and still no sushi. I was about to cancel the sushi order with her 5th apology but she said added«and don’t worry about the sushi, since it is so late» — which I interpreted to mean I would not be charged for it. The sushi arrived a few minutes later with the question of «another to-go box for that?». hmmm, sushi to go … we decided to go ahead and eat it. and then when the bill came, the sushi was still on it. At this point I said screw it — I didn’t want to raise a stink in front of the others and the sushi there is fairly inexpensive, so I just paid the bill and left. I don’t know why we didn’t get the show with the cooking — we were all in good moods and friendly and as far as we could tell nothing much else was going on. And as far as the sushi, the place was about half full, so no reason that would have been so late. Oh well. I seriously doubt I would return.

From my experience its a sold 4. Wayne and I stopped in for afternoon bottle of sake. The ambiance is what you would expect from a Japanese restaurant. The service was good and the prices were reasonable. We came to find out that sushi and sake was half off if you sat at the bar for lunch and dinner Also they have all-you-can-eat sushi at lunch and dinner(14.95 and 19.95 respectfully). I was really happy with this place. If lived in Owensboro, I’d go back.

Service was horrible from the moment I walked in. Asked the server what beers they had, he responded with«you know budweiser budlight, miller light, and thats all.» then i glanced over to the bar and saw about 14 different beers… The server mixed up the orders and offered a complimentary dish that never came. On top of the bad service, the food was horrible. In the description of the spicy tuna roll(tuna, spicy sauce, and cucumbers) what we got was a tuna roll mixed with a creamy sauce where the fish was wet and not fresh. I don’t recommend any one eating here. Will not come back again.

We began going to this restaurant a few months ago. The service is normally spot on, and the Sushi chef’s are very nice and know their job very well. I have not had the hibachi yet but have heard good things about it, and will try it before I leave here.
