I love the sandwiches here! My favorite is the ace of clubs which is what I order most of the time, but I have never been disappointed no matter what I get.

I want to try every item on the menu! Probably the brown derby is the best sandwich I’ve had in years! Definitely coming back!

Best sandwich place in Palo Alto! My favorite sandwiches are the Herbivore and the Jalapeño Crunch! I crave both every once in a while. They have a large selection of sandwiches. Cash only at the register but they have a new app where you can order ahead.

Ordered the roast beef, toasted. Lacked flavor. Overpriced. Good portion size though, but still has nothing on Ike’s of course.

Came to the area and my iphone directed me to the nearest sandwich shop. I was pleasantly surprised by Ace of Sandwiches! I got the turkey-pesto-avocado and it was amazing! An extremely big portion so I didn’t come close to finishing, but will definitely come back! Highly recommended!

Palo Alto’s answer to Ike’s, and a good one at that. I’ll be back. Partly because the sandwich was delicious, partly because the menu is HUGE… and I’d at least like to try three or four of their creations before deciding a verdict. So expect a revision here sooner or later. First time in I grabbed a menu while in line, perused the two-sided sheet, changed my mind three or four times in the process, and then settled on the Italian Reuben w/Coleslaw. Added a bag of chips and a soda($FREE w/Yelp Check-In offer) and hit the road to indulge at another venue… this is a small place and fills up quickly during lunch. The sandwich was rather large and pretty tasty… the Coleslaw is a simple one, nothing fancy, but adds some good texture and a touch of sloppiness to the sandwich. Which I always appreciate. Already have my eyes on a few of their other sandwiches…

My office ordered from Ace of Sandwiches for an event, so take it with a grain of salt that I only got to try a couple sandwiches, both without customization, and I didn’t have them quite fresh! I hope to get a chance to come here on my own and actually order my own sandwich, fresh. Overall the bread was bit stale and I found both sandwiches I tried to be lackluster. I really liked the sprouts on the Chicken sandwich, but otherwise it didn’t have too much going for it. There wasn’t much sauce, and the meat was a bit dry. The Vegetarian was interesting and had a thick layer of cream cheese that gave it a unique sweet taste. Otherwise not too much going on.

Fantastic little sandwich spot in Stanford near the Stadium. Fun names and allspecialty. Quick tip. … use their app to order online to save time. Small place and very busy. I had sandwich envy a few times watching other people’s sandwiches getting made while waiting on mine. … which was great btw.

Sandwich tasted good but was mostly bread — it was skimpy on the meat and trimmings. We came during lunch rush, and they were short-staffed I guess, because it took a little more than a half an hour to get two sandwiches, but they were nice and apologized for the wait. I’ll give them another shot, maybe when it’s not so busy.

It’s no secret I come to Ace of Sandwiches a lot, and while the sandwiches are still superb, I came today to find out they take CASHONLY as of a month ago! It’s just odd that a business would go backwards and accept plastic and then move to a cash only method?! Who does that? It’s 2015, and most people don’t carry cash on them. They don’t even have an ATM machine inside, so again, absurd that they changed this. Next option? Order on their website. Well, that would be great, but the service in here is HORRIBLE. And I use Verizon, the best network. It kept timing out, so if you’re going to have people order online, then you should really offer free wifi service. Fortunately my coworker’s T-Mobile service came through and I ordered online to pay with credit card. Again, sorry guys, but this will really deter me from coming back. If fees are too high, get a square, and accept credit cards. Sandwiches are already pricey enough, surely a 2% fee won’t hurt too much.

Ace of Sandwiches has done away with credit card transactions. In order to use credit card, you must make your order through a mobile website. This mobile website is buggy, counterintuitive, and very difficult to use. I had to start my order over three times because it would stop displaying the«checkout» button. Very frustrating to not have something as basic as a credit card machine. This place used to be able to process credit cards, what happened? At the very least put in an ATM machine so I can pull out cash instead of using your terrible system.

The only place left in Palo Alto to satisfy your sandwich craving. I recommend the Over and Under, a hot sandwich topped with turkey, buffalo chicken, bacon, colby jack, and cream cheese. If you don’t back down from spice, give the Four Alarm Fire a spin. It comes with pastrami-seasoned turkey breast, cheddar, jalapeños, and horseradish to give it an eye-opening kick. Both sandwiches are topped with Ace’s savory«Lightning Sauce» — don’t pass it up. Ike’s might be coming back to Palo Alto this year, but until then, Ace is the perfect place to get your sandwich fix.

The Ace of Sandwiches makes great sandwiches. They have a great menu and good, fresh ingredients. The only reason that I don’t give them five stars is that it takes a very… very…long time to get your food. Today, we ordered our food today when it was semi-crowded. Some customers stayed to eat inside of the restaurant, some ate outside and others took sandwiches to go for today’s Stanford football game. The restaurant had at least four employees working — but we still waited 25 minutes for our food. That said: The sandwiches are pretty good. This is conveniently located on El Camino Real — next door from Papa Murphy’s(the old Taco Bell restaurant) and across the street from 9 Minute Oil. The parking lot is shared with a couple of other businesses — and there are only about seven spots. This is a great sandwich shop that is a great place to eat if you aren’t worried about a wait. I ordered the Brown Derby — hot pastrami, fried egg(over medium), fresh bacon, hash browns(really), cole slaw, swiss cheese and«lightning sauce» on Dutch Crunch bread. It is a unique but very tasty sandwich that is arguably worth the wait! There is also a small Michael Scott-sized flat-screen TV(maybe a 20″) on the wall that was tuned to a football game. That might help pass the waiting time(if you’re into football).

Had the chef special from Uncle Mario. Amazing, 5 star business. Honest, friendly, knowledgable, professional, clean, innovative, loving business. My dream is to open one of these. :) I also ordered, 2 sandwiches togo!

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place so I decided to try it one day for lunch! Louisiana Lightning –I thought the best part of this sandwich was the toasted slices of sourdough bread. The mozzarella cheese was barely melted, and the amount of sauce in the sandwich was so minimal I wanted to add mustard to this sandwich because it was too bland. The amount of turkey was not enough in my opinion. Overall, I literally thought this place was a-okay. Also, the service is so slow with one person making sandwiches? :/

I got the Skybivore which is a sandwich with chicken, avocado, sprouts, tomatoes and pesto. A pretty basic sandwich. I wish I got the panini version because it was pretty damn dry. The avocado and pesto saved it tho. I got there around 12:30 which when it was really popping. Go closer to 1 and you safe.

Great variety with interesting sandwich ingredient combinations. Friendly staff that seemed to recognize locals and offered up their favorites. Check-in to Unilocal for a free soda. Lightning sauce is mildly spicy and tasty. $ 41 for 4 sandwiches. 10 minutes until take out was ready, not a bad wait during a Saturday lunch hour. Great tasting, hot sandwiches.

Just went here for my Tesla lunch break. Similar vibe to Ike’s except a little bit smaller. I enjoyed being greeted by a friendly staff who informed me about the vegetarian options on the menu(there are about 5). I ended up with the Herbivore which was the special for the day! With maui chips and a drink the total came out to $ 9.00 which is reasonable. The sandwich itself was made well and stayed together while I was eating it. The pesto and cheese were especially good. I might make coming here on Friday’s a weekly event! It is a bit expensive, but the fresh ingredients make up for it!

Really wanted to like this place. I love love love sandwiches. But this place doesn’t deliver for me. The sandwich combinations they have on their menu simply aren’t good. The prices are high. The amounts of things they put isn’t right. They only serve Boar’s Head meat which is okay, but I can get it at my local supermarket. And of course it’s deli meat. So the pastrami or corned beef here isn’t the fresh, juicy stuff you get a jewish deli or smoked meats place. Overall, had four sandwiches here and very disappointed with them all. Hopefully won’t make the mistake of being sandwich-needy and coming here again… Just so conveniently located…

The Ace of Sandwiches deserves an Ace. Really. And not just because it’s a cute pun. There are so many options that I couldn’t decide, and had to stick with my regular: Turkey and Avocado. Turns out, it was quite delicious. The ingredients were fresh and plentiful on my sandwich — which I love. Nothing is worse than having a single tomato or one pickle. The shop is a cute little hole in the wall, but that means beware of a lack of space to eat. There are three tables, so if you can get one of them, you’re golden. If not, be prepared to take your sandwich on the go.
